Not the best episode. While obviously important things happened in this episode, it really felt like it was dragging out. And it was frustrating to watch the writers make Dongfang Qingcang act so foolishly stupid all of a sudden. He's emotionally immature, but he's never been stupid and should have figured things out much faster. That whole stretch felt like plot-contrived-stupidity. Which seems to have been a trope used far too much already in this series. I did like the growth in the relationship between Danyin and Jie Li. Danyin continues to be one of the best characters in this drama. She's suffered sadness and unrequited love for so long but has remained strong and not selfishly obsessed.

Mostly a good episode, though it ends heading towards bad times ahead.I don't like how the writers keep relying on characters suddenly acting incredibly stupid in order to make plot advancements. This has happened a lot in this series and in this one, Changheng is a particularly egregious example. Failing to challenge the false testimony of Ronghao and then the whole course of his subsequent conversation with the latter make him look like an absolute moron.Is anyone in the Fairy Realm NOT a totally awful person? Maybe Danyin? The rest seem like total evil scumbags.

The episode description is misleading. Orchid/Xiao Lanhua does not disrupt the Lantern Festival meetup between Xiao Run and Xie Wanqing. Xiao Run ran right past her place all on his own with the gambling house goons chasing him and that had nothing to do with Orchid.

Reached probably a near term high point. This episode took Dongfeng Qian Cing most of the rest of the way in his emotional redemption arc and ended in a very good place. Xiao Lan Hua also showed tremendous growth in character as she helps him take every step. The whole episode is very emotional and both actors deliver compelling performances.I fully expect the next few episodes to carry us dramatically away from this blissful point as the main characters still have many challenges to face.

Another episode with real growth in both main characters.Already more than tired of the "Jie Li" character though. Totally could do without her getting anymore screen time. Just an annoying character.

Annoying how stupid they had to make Shangque seem in this episode and how everyone overlooks how obviously Jie Li is a spy. This show usually has avoided cheap plot contrivances but this episode was a let down in that respect.On the positive side, the plot does advance in small ways. Orchid learns that Dongfang Qing Cian had his emotional roots ripped away and why, but she also knows from having seen his Heart Tree that it is not without life. That she can repair it. And she becomes interested in doing so.

The comedic chemistry is really good between the two leads.There are stretches of this episode that feel like a Saturday Night Live sketch, including a moment when you can see Dylan barely able to avoid breaking character as Esther delivers a sequence of funny moments.This series started off a little awkward for folks who were looking for something more traditional in a period fantasy c-drama and from the comments and reviews, Esther's deliberate choice on how to portray the FL definitely took some folks aback. But as the story progresses, it is all starting to make sense and is setting up both the humor and the romantic potential between the main leads.

Yan Yun Zhi finally started acting like a decent human in Episode 4 (though he still continued to have his jerk moments) just in time for Zhou Wen Yuan to evolve from simply nice guy standing in unrequited 'friend zone' territory into suddenly being a malicious manipulator of people. What was the rumor snippet in Ep 4 about him coveting Sang Qi's father's position? If true, then he is suddenly a prime suspect to have been involved with the assassination of Sang Yu.Most of the male characters in this series have been pretty awful people. It was nice for Sang Qi to finally get at least some straight answers about her brother's life at the college.

Yan Yun Zhi is a heck of a jerk so far in this series. He knows that HE (and his inept man Bai Shi) were the core cause of Yan Yan's humiliation (and all the troubles that erupted because of that) because of their theft and misplacement of the pouch. Yet he hangs Sang Qi out to dry and has the temerity to say he wants "to avenge himself personally" against her? Seriously? And their original first impressions being at odds was again solely HIS fault for not having the grace to thank her for stopping a potential disaster with the runaway cart at the beginning of the series. It was a stupid, dangerous stunt by Song Jia Yin that could have gotten someone killed. YYZ's arrogant silence was absurd and totally lacking grace.I get that he's the ultimate 'male lead' for this series and will hopefully eventually turn a better cheek to the audience. And yes, he has done a few things behind the scenes to support Sang Qi - but those things so far just feel like fulfilling his responsibility to his late friend Sang Yi and barely feel earnest on his part. But otherwise, so far, this series has painted him as a real jerk of a human who is petty and self-absorbed. It's hard to get too excited about a potential 'romance' between him and Sang Qi.

That was another gut punch episode - was not expecting Zheng Zhi Heng to be killed off this early and that brutally. IF CSJ survives, does she know it was the Black Dragon Bandits who killed him (and ultimately are the source of all her tragedies)? Kudos to the writers and actors , Choe Xie and Tang Zhen Chao, for making us actually care about two of the 'antagonists' of the story. Both characters grew and evolved into an amazing tragic love story, without even being the main leads! The only question now is whether CSJ survives and what will she choose to do with her life at this point?

The relationship between Cui Shi Ju and Zheng Zhi Heng has been one of the most interesting parts of this show. Despite their often bad behavior, it's. hard not to feel sorry for them given the pressures they live within and the fragility of their existence. And the undercurrent of how they legitimately have grown feelings for each other makes you want to see them somehow survive this.
