If I went into a dude's body, I'd be like him- uncomfortable for the first 2 weeks before accepting my fate (I would still be attracted to guys, nothing about my sexuality changes). BUT unlike me, Bong Hwan was still sharing that body with the original owner. So, it's natural he would've felt comfortable quickly. Like the turning point with being comfortable in a skirt lol.
How else do you expect it to end? Him remaining with SoYong still trapped in the same body? It was evident she shared the body with him and experiences everything he goes through while in her body. Which also means romantic scenes etc were orchestrated by SoYong. When she got hot and bothered the first time the king and her started making out, BongHwan slapped himself and asked her to hold back. I don't get why people are upset with the ending. South Korea is getting more "progressive" but I don't think that has anything to do with the show. The writer has made plenty of things clear from the start. In the end, the king felt "a part" missing. He was in love with a mix of both BH and SY. The romantic and cute side of SoYong is still believable enough for the king to love and miss her (as shown in the end).
I'm happy BongHwan went back. He deserves getting his life back after all the shit he went through.
The ENDING. Many are unsatisfied. Many are satisfied. I'M IN THE TEAM OF SATISFACTION.I guess the body swap happened…
I agree! Many people think that the playboy Bong Hwan had romantic feelings for the king but I really thought that throughout several instances, they had hinted it being So Yong since she shared the same body.
If the writer is trying to play it safe, why not reincarnate the king as a girl? Anyway.. imma watch the bamboo…
Then people would feel too enraged sending a genuine romantic interest back. It's more believable that a straight guy doesn't feel romantically towards the king. Since it's a straight guy, it's easier to send him back to the modern world without feeling as bad.
I felt like his romantic feelings for the queen were emotions belonging to the queen co-living in the same body. He cares for the king but they made it clear that he's a playboy from the start. Even their first time sleeping together was due to him thinking it was his maidservant girl so...
Other times like him kissing the king and not being sure why he did it? I think the show tried to suggest many times that it was the queen's doing but it's obvious the king fell for the modern guy's traits. I wasn't feeling their romance from the start because romantic things started happening between 2 straight dudes. Ended up giving it a 7.5 for the laughs.
Just finished it. Overrated IMO. Though the effects were quite good and the story is like an onion - each revelation…
Seeing the comments it doesn't seem overrated at all. Many do find it entertaining with fantastic visuals, but admittedly- a mediocre to decent story/plot. I don't see that many people raving it to high heavens- especially if you check public reviews and ratings (pretty equal between "meh" and "WOW" on mdl).
Lol this is me a lot. For example, been watching Legend of Fei and I have been so bored, but it's cause I'm already…
Thanks for the heads up. I was 2 eps in and didn't feel compelled to pull through. In these cases, I satisfy my curiosity by watching compilations of the drama on youtube.
Highlighting just the negative crowd of a religion has been an underlying theme in this show and it doesn't sit TOO well with me. Other than that, show still has good vibes.
