I just finished this drama and whew. I actually never compared it to Fuyao while watching and didn't really see much similarities except female lead goes from weak to strong and the main leads fighting together (power couples ♡), or maybe I just don't remember Fuyao that much but yea, I could agree that they gave off similar vibes. LST definitely focused a lot more on the harsh jianghu lifestyle while Fuyao come across to me as more of character-building/mystery/kingdoms type of drama? (dont know where i was going with that lol) I liked both equally but the realistic harsh jianghu setting without much regards to royalty that was seen in LST was a first for me — definitely a refreshing change.

I havent watched it but it also follows the legend so I assume they have some overall plot similarities.

i watched up to episode 8 in china but then i realized she was gonna marry the emperor and i stopped bc i am so tired of roundabout relationships and characters not tying the knot due to unavoidable reasons. I know this is a good drama but my heart is weak cries

aw Bai Lu and Xu Kai are leads again but I kinda hate dramas in this era (at least i think its that era bc they mentioned japan) and i heard theres little romance? oof

o also they talk sooo slow in this drama, i watched the entire thing in 3-4 days on 1.5x speed lmao

lmaoo Alila is right u skipped way too much if u didnt even get that ending. you should just play it on 1.5x speed and skip minimally

I honestly wasnt expecting much from this drama when I started but surprisingly it drew me in. Sure the producers really pieced the film together weirdly but after a while I got used to it. But the actors were all so good at acting that I was rlly amazed. I cried (the authors really trolled us at the end) and laughed while watching this.

I feel the exact same as you! Taiwanese dramas have never been interesting to me. I've started multiple and never finished them, but this drama hit differently (and I never thought I would accept watching smth with infidelity) but the raw emotions played out by the leads really makes me want to root for them and wish everything works out. They simply met each other too late in life.

I agree that infidelity is wrong and the entire time I've been watching I've constantly thought, "Please break up with your girlfriend/boyfriend already." And honestly I started this drama expecting a much more scandalous relationship but so far it's actually been quite decent (compared to other things I've seen) with a lot of raw emotions from the male lead who falls for her first. But yes you're right – the problem lies in the female lead's inability to just accept her feelings and FIRMLY make the decision to break it off with her boyfriend.

ive only watched clips of this on youtube (dunno if i can commit to another 40 episode cdrama lol) but considering they made it into a bromance its still hella gay in all its subtlety (the actors did great! their eyes spoke the hidden truth hehe) and i love (and am kinda surprised) that they didnt cleanly hide that despite all the restrictions in china. thus i feel that this show is quite a rare one :)
