I believe its because Lirong clan is actually one of the clans closest to the Chenrong army. Back during the war,…
Hou really chose the wrong path and he decided to just carry on no matter what it cost him. I think he was never really happy even though he had a cute son...He couldn't love himself and so he can't love anyone else?
I don't think Jing's courage was an issue but how he chose to deal with the offenders with the information that was available to him. He thought he was partly at fault too, since he thought he really slept with ffyy. So now, he will take necessary steps. He may not step on others with his clout but he won't be taken advantage of either.
Xiaoyao suffered early in her childhood and I guess she gained enlightenment long ago about what it means to 'live' and how status, wealth or power is not really important to just be happy and content in life.

You totally get it!! 😊
What I love about Yaojing is while everyone else did not understand Jing's line of thought or choice of action, Xiaoyao always (mostly) did. Like he would rather make peace with his brother instead of going down the obvious revenge path, which Xiaoyao did not agree with but she understood him and respected his choices. I also love that XY didn't try to kill Hou on her own, with the 'I am doing this for your own good' kind of thinking we see so often in other stories.
Why is it a surprise that Jing couldn't tear himself away from the most lovely soul who can understand him for who he is, rather than what he was made to be?

Jing is a repressed character who had been 'sculpted to perfection' by his family and weighed down by clan expectations...
There is a part in the novel which will not show in the drama so its not a spoiler, but they were supposed to go camping and it was revealed that Tushan Jing owns some legendary spider pets that he gets them to weave a hammock for outdoor camping... He is a talented genius, but he is also a little quirky with no proper outlet lol
About making decision of surrender, Xiang Liu can only make decision for himself. He is not willing to surrender…
I think this is what the author is trying to get us to understand that in life, maybe there are 'bigger' things more important than living but I am like you, I still prefer less fighting and less 'pointless' deaths... Because when the Chenrong army refuse to surrender, the Xiyan soldiers who go to meet them in battle also lose their lives...
So I am also waiting to see if the story can finally show us what it is the Chenrong army are fighting for.
Today's quick post is about just how long Xiaoyao has been unable to forget her Ye Shiqi, who is now the married Tushan Jing.
Xiaoyao still crying over Jing, and telling Cangxuan she can't stop thinking about Shiqi in Ep2 was really sad... and if my math holds up, nearly 60 years have passed.
From the time she brought him home, their 6-7 years in Qingshui town; being apart until Cangxuan got to the Central plains, their short season of courtship in Chenrong manor, 37 years apart during their coma, breaking up in 3 months after their reunion; then about 10 years including Cangxuan's coronation and engagement to Fenglong...
Yaojing really have not spent that much time being together since their romance was underground... yet those times spent together was enough for her to miss him.
Its actually also about the same time as how long Cangxuan came to Qingshui town but his reunion with Xiaoyao was much later and its one year less for Xiangliu because they only met after Shiqi had recovered from his injuries which took about a year.
Everyone's like "Cang Xuan, she's your COUSIN" and he's like "yeah but she's my FIRST cousin."
In the olden days, marriage between cousins on the mother's side is actually really common. Partly due to the young ladies having very limited exposure to young men beyond that of their extended family, so 'falling for cousin so and so' is a common trope in many dramas.
However modern times most of us find the idea unacceptable now.
About making decision of surrender, Xiang Liu can only make decision for himself. He is not willing to surrender…
Technically the army he is now leading has no 'country' anymore. Chenrong royals had surrendered to the country of Xiyan about 300 years ago in the last great war. Now things in the "Central Plains ( now under Xiyan rule )" have become relatively peaceful, but the remnants of the army of Chenrong still hide in the mountains and forests and refuse to surrender.
I have difficulty understanding Hongjiang their general, who will not surrender out of loyalty to their deceased brothers in arms, because isn't peace and healing also a positive thing? However, I also understand the surviving soldiers may not even be able to ever be at peace even if they are not in active battle, like old Uncle Lirong...
Waiting for Hongjiang to appear in S2 so maybe will have a better understanding of this 'righteousness' the author is trying to show us.
What happened to XL defense fortress to be accused of hallucination?
One person asked me if my morals had problems for 'wanting Xiaoyao to miss someone's husband'... and you mocked me in your response to her. And now you have the receipts?
And you insinuated no such thing happened, while now you pretend to be the one who is right? SMH. Who is the real troll here.
Okay but how come Lirong Chen is like everyone’s best friend—both Jing and Xiang Liu—wish I could trade…
I believe its because Lirong clan is actually one of the clans closest to the Chenrong army. Back during the war, they were probably the last family to surrender to Xiyan and so they are not well liked by the other families who had surrendered early on to the King of Xiyan and helped him fight their own people. Guess he knows Xiangliu's real identity because of his uncle connection as well.
Jing somehow become his good friend after he helped out their clan when they were struggling. Also I wonder if Tonghua was just tickled because there is a chinese idiom called 狐朋狗友 that means literally 'fox and dog friends' : idle friends who have fun together lol For someone trained from young to become a perfect gentleman, its kind of funny that Jing's bestie is this naughty 'dog'. Jing used to be actually far more lively than what we get to see on screen.
XY dropped hints for XL many times to give up his revenge... and presumably she will stay with him thereafter...…
To me her two choices that she felt she could get along with as companions was always Jing and Xiangliu, but with XL he had always emphasized to her whatever they had was short term only and transactional only.
The one XY cannot get over even after he has failed her 'conditions' for not having another woman/married with family is Tushan Jing. But she is not happy with herself for not being able to be in control of her own heart. Her brain is saying No but her heart is hanging on.
Lots of people going to argue what is true love but I am here for the drama! lol
I've only seen good hotsearches abt it. What is this troll talking abt?
Bless you for daring to say what we feel. Why is this place so high-school and bitchy? I don't see those particular few harassers going around scolding the other XL fans for their reactions?
I got flashbacks to The Double lmao. Fervent qin playing
OMG not the fairy ascending scene complete with lightning display!! LOOOL I too, had to fast forward that sequence... I thought that piece was supposed to be deeply sorrowful but somehow they made an angry 'chang e + thor' thing going on...

"LMAO because TRUE LOVE amirite"
Yeah i guess it never happened. Just like how I don't see any of you harassing other Xiangliu fans who also say that scene was cringe worthy.
The other person questioning my morals for supporting Xiaoyao is
"Hua Chengs Butterfly"
I may have a lack of sleep but I have not started to hallucinate or forget my own actions like nathsketch.
I too, had to fast forward that sequence... I thought that piece was supposed to be deeply sorrowful but somehow they made an angry 'chang e + thor' thing going on...
Which I did not find it good enough to pay for, so I practiced patience lol
