Also Tushan Jing could leave the formation, but Xiaoyao was locked in until the formation ended. She cannot leave. But this part I blame the drama production for failing to communicate to the audience. They can't even spare the CG budget to do some kind of formation to let audience know what is happening.
Jing can leave but BY HIMSELF. He chose to remain behind with her since she looked like she died.

Did we even watch the same drama? Or you don't pay attention just because the lines pertained to TSJ? They clearly said that TSJ protected Xiaoyao's body with his spirit power, which didn't stop even after he himself got badly burned.

How do you think he can 'fight' for Xiaoyao? He thought he was out. He had to get married. Xiaoyao looked like she moved on. If he kept on going after her, you would probably say he harassed her.

Aren't you missing the whole point? The point was Chief of Tushan was willing to look foolish for the Princess. If he cared about how he looks like to the others, he won't be the Jing she fell for.
Jing always said " If you will only look at me, how other people look at me won't hurt me." and he means it.

If you finish today's episodes you will see why I said they will all grow up and learn what it means to love.

Xiaoyao will take more steps towards Tushan Jing, willingly.
Love shouldn't be some chess game where a player play one move, and wait for another to play the next move. It shouldn't be calculative.

But people will learn from their mistakes and do better the next time.

If the couple bugs are so important, you will see them come up more often in the story. Ultimately they are just a plot device. Xiaoyao even forget their existence.

When back in Qingshui town, she needed Xiangliu's help, she hit her own leg. Now that she evolved and can survive in the sea, she still just sat on the shore. She could have jumped into the sea and swam out.
Anything she could have done, instead of staying safe and dry on the shore.

Her enthusiasm for Xiangliu to come get her, was so limited to just sitting there. That is my point. Waiting for destiny that will come or not come. She actually didn't really believe Xiangliu would come anyway.

I am still trying to decide on this, which I am curious about your insight to his choice..

Many people have said Xiangliu was in the army just because he wanted to repay Hong Jiang's 'life saving grace'.
But what I found interesting was, HJ never demanded XL to work for him right? XL was free and he actually returned to his side after going out into the world.

So now I am wondering, was XL hunting for his own life purpose?
As we move into the story, I am starting to realize, Xiangliu didn't join the army to die, he joined the army to see if he could help them turn the tide? He was lonely, he had his 9 heads, and he wanted to see if he was able to help these poor 'bunch of fools' as he had said before to Xiaoliu.

Its quite a difference for me if XL died in the end for his own aspirations instead of out of some blind loyalty to his foster father. I am sure there is some loyalty involved of course, but the meaning of his death will be quite different.

If he joined them wanting to help them win, that makes him no longer a defeatist. In fact all his actions trying to destabilize Central plains tells me he was not accepting defeat until it became inevitable. Xiangliu was playing his own grand game of chess. And when they eventually lost the game, he chose to die 'with' them because they were in it together, not 'for' Hong jiang.

That means XL had always been free, not 'slave' to HJ or family ties after all. Now I wonder if that is what Yangzi meant when she said Xiangliu was 'career-minded' and TH said, XL got what he wanted in the end.

You are right, it was also kind of an 'SOS'. But the fact remained that XL did not go to her as she hoped. He chose to use this opportunity for his Chenrong army instead.
The most disappointing was why he was in a wedding gown. If you love her that much, then do it. Don't cosplay. 🙄
