Is it sad that I want to see the Emperor redeem himself? I think he is only toxic because of his childhood. I…
Yes, she’s the worst. The first episode showed her dead in a shallow grave with the necklace of the empress, if I correctly remember. I’m betting the queen will be Min Yura’s nightmare.
The pace of the story is slower than the typical kdrama. But, it’s a Park Bo Gum drama. So, I will happily adjust my expectations because the story is good and heavy with sweet romance!
I don't understand why people prefer Soo Hyun's ex-husband. To me, he seems so obsessive and controlling, like…
So true. The ex-husband is manipulative like his mother and a bi-polar stalker! He’s inactive during the marriage, active to end it with a fake affair, inactive while she is domineered by his mother after the divorce and up again to meddle in his ex-wife’s affairs once she is interested in someone else. He’s weak and can’t do much for her while he’s afraid of his mother.

I feel the same. The emperor’s mother called him her puppet! She broke him. He needs to serve time in jail for accidentally killing the woman with his truck and getting rid of the body before he can be considered redeemed. Lol
Thank goodness I'm not the only one thinking that. And even though the paint is indeed nice...I mean, the costumes…
@Ardis - I just watched ep. 11 through ep. 15 and the drama became more intriguing and enjoyable! I just love the Ming Lan’s grandmother. The actress playing her character is great!

Both the description and the poster show the male lead character gets the girl. He is the character Gu Ting Ye, a.k.a, second brother, who got the dancer pregnant with two kids and has to hide them from his father and 1/2 brothers since she is low class status. He is trying to investigate his mother’s death just like the female lead.

I understand your confusion. The second male lead most refer to is the guy in a supporting role that is so fabulous that he outshines the male lead which might not be the intent of the screenwriter. Some charisma can’t be shaded. I’m referring to the character Qi Heng, the rich heir, played by the popular actor from Guardian, Zhu Yi Long. The poster and description shows he doesn’t have a chance of getting the girl. But, I can hope for a twist! LOL
This is like watching paint dry...boring. I don’t like any of the characters except the female lead and the second male lead. I will have to wait until it finishes to skip through the dead wood.
Well stated! I reached chapter 750 in the novel and I’m very glad I read it! The novel is obviously more in…
@phl1rxd - I did not pay much attention during the array room scene in ep. 53 nor on the book. What did I miss? I may have to watch again.
Beware, the novel started to drag in late chapter 600s- early chapter 700s like most online novels do. I just wanted to get past the first season. So, I stopped for now. Will start reading again before season 2 is released.
I skipped through the last 10 episodes. This didn’t have the dynamic actors (except Deng Lun) like the Korean version. So, it quickly got boring. The mean girl was ok in this. But, I loved how she was played in the Korean version so much so that the main protagonist became my favorite character in the kdrama. She was just average in this version. Plus, her nemesis was my hero in the kdrama. 8/10
Reading the novel and I am up to chapter 668 and Viki has subbed up to episode 52. A few thoughts:* Viewers are…
Well stated! I reached chapter 750 in the novel and I’m very glad I read it! The novel is obviously more in depth compared to the drama. But, I’m very happy with the drama representing the key events of the novel. The cast was the best! I agree the characters accurately represented those in the novel. I’m looking forward to the next season. 9/10
Nice and cute. The pace feels slower than season 1. There are more episodes in season 2 which gives time to get used to the pace of this light hearted drama. Maybe, it’s the inexperience of the younger cast members as a whole, but, the revenge incidents feels mild for the typical high school drama. The female lead looks a bit timid with little emotion shown on her face at times. But, she represents a group of teens that could be easily ignored. So, she added to the drama. The emphasis on Samuel is evident and provides really cute fan service. 7.5/10
I can't believe that the story ended her. I cried so hard for 2 episodes. I am now at episode 26 and waiting for…
Big sister is a saint. Really heart wrenching to take her out of the drama in that state. I was not ready. Watching the two male leads struggle makes me sad. Liang Si Shen is my only hope for true happiness for Wang Kai’s character! That man deserves it. He had good chemistry with the student as an assistant teacher. They should be within 5 years of each other if I got the math right. He was about 16 to 17 years old when he entered college. She looked about 12 or 13 years old when he was teaching her.
You might as well hang on through the end of season 1. It’s only 60 episodes. I love this cast. I’m anxious to see the new cast work together.
I will have to wait until it finishes to skip through the dead wood.
