Edit: apparently they don't switch in novel. I'm still convinced they do in the show tho :)
Someone homophobic will not watch any movie/show with gat characters. That does not change the fact the message is there. And while it won't change the mind of a homophobic person coz they will never see it, it makes people who want to promote this message feel better. The talk Fighter had with his dad made me feel proud for the character and good about the message. Not all messages need to change minds, some can just make the viewers feel better. At least that's how I see it :)
As for Zon and Saifah: filling the gaps is not something viewers should have to do to enjoy the story and get invested in characters. I don't think they even had to add a lot to make the progression more smooth. Give 30 seconds conversation between Zon and Saint about Zon's conflicted feelings. After that seeing Zon relax more around Saifah would make much more sense. I actually loved Zon and Saifah after they got closer. They were so cute and sweet. I just wish we've got more.
As for the rest of the cast... well..they all should be left as just supporting characters and not have romantic plot-line of their own. Didn't want to write about it in the review coz it would be a spoiler but why and how Hwahwa ended with Day just annoyed me so much.
Anyway, thank you for the nice words about the review. I've been working on it since around episode 3 came out hahaha
I love it for the reasons stated, but I don't want to lie to people saying it's the best show ever. Stating the problems is the only fair way of appreciating the drama. So when someone decides to watch it, they will know what they are getting themselves into :)
Gosh I will miss this show, even with how messy it was at times.
I just got too attached to these characters.
anyway, I'm confused, I guess we will see this Fiday
No one knows the ending, but the novel have a sad one. BUT what we know they changed the ending in the show and it does not follow the one that was in the novel. So basically no one knows anything.
War is doing a good job tho and I must say the production value (especially editing) improved compared to Tossara (which I dropped coz I could not stand the editing).
The first article I wrote was simply my take on Extraordinary You ending, coz I found it so amazingly tragic but I saw a lot of people saying it's a happy ending. Just wanted to show a different point of view. And it was a lot of fun. Planning what I want to write, but to separate different sections, editing and the layout of.
I hope with your article more people will be brave enough to write something themselves :)
But then... we all have different interpretations and expectations. I wouldn't mind Tutor saying Fighter about the dad, but I just think it would make it harder to write and film the scene hahaha it's more on the technical and less of the "emotional" side.
1. Writing sucks, they went full cliche "breaking coz of the parent", Tutor is an idiot and him not talking to Fighter and just giving up makes no sense. Basically Tutor sucks.
2. The break up made perfect sense. Tutor has had enough, hit the breaking point. He has no strength left to fight for anything. That's why he breaks up with Fighter. Awesome writing and perfectly in line with how the character was written so far.
3. The break up make sense. Tutor is a dumb ass but he is strong in what he is doing. He wants to take the whole hit of Fighter's dad shitty behavior himself and does not want to ruin Fighter's relationship with his dad and burden the guy he loves even a little bit. He did what he though was best.
Same show, same episode, same scene and yet we all see it in such a different light. Fun :)
That said, there is a reason everyone is always so surprised after someone's commit suicide and we keep hearing how they had amazing family, well paid job, supporting friends and there was not reason from them to do that.
Sure, if you just watch and do not analyze what you see, everyone will be just a puppet to progress the story. For me he is well written character and all his behaviors make sense.
I don't know how much of it was a good writing and how was just luck and accident, but the end result for me is: both Tutor and Fighter are well written and interesting characters.
