The only one of these I've seen is Personal Taste, but I actually never noticed the age difference--I actually thought Lee Min Ho was older. That said, I haven't seen too many K-dramas, and I've never seen BOF, so maybe in contrast I'd agree with you.

I love Kitano Kie, so I'm excited for this! I've never heard of Sukitte Li na yo, but I like slice of life, so that should be worth checking out too. Thanks for the update!

Agh! I hate that! It does that with my school email.

Yay! I'm glad it went well, and I hope the shadowing proves promising.

I didn't like Jeremy much the first time I watched it, but after that I think I get his character better. It is really hard to choose, but their stylist a lot, and how she and the manager play off each other. And Shin Woo would probably be the perfect boyfriend. At least on a tv show lets say.

Thanks for the encouragement! It went ok today. They did fine with the lesson, it was at about their level, but I think it was a little too childish for some of them, and we're in the last days of camp where everyone is either falling asleep or has an extreme case of cabin fever.

Yeah! I'm working on the first episode right now, like the party scene and the one in the car (which is not that memorable, but hey, vocabulary), but I'm also rewatching the whole thing too for fun...^^ Do you have a favorite character??

My teacher's name is Kim Min Ji, but I think it's a common name. I could always ask, this is true. Ahah! I just spent an hour practicing pronunciation at study hall. We got through about 5 sentences. One of our CI's was saying at breakfast yesterday actually, that he's not sure how Rosetta Stone recording/pronunciation thing works, because he had the same experience as you said, but then his girlfriend who is Chinese and apparently has atrocious pronunciation and drops pachim all over the place would get good scores on there, so I dunno.

Oh, and today we got placements! I'm gonna message you where mine is ;) I also met with my CI (mentor teacher) for our last lesson on Friday, and he's the only other person from my state I've met here so far, so after our meeting was done we spent like an extra hour talking, so that was nice.

I'm praying for your interview, hope it goes/went well!!

Thanks for the info. Congratulations on placing! Chukha habnida! ;) Maybe I'll try it someday, like fifty years in the future.

I'll be praying, and God will go with you to the interview :) I hope it goes well!

Thanks, I will do my best!

We also get to help with homework, activities, etc. This weekend my team did an "Amazing Race" type thing, and had groups rotating between different country rooms for activities. I was in "Ireland", and I helped my friend teach some dance ;)

Yeah, feel free to pm me whenever! Sorry I have been so slow to respond sometimes, but I do tend to hop on here for a few minutes more often than I actually get stuff written.

Basically, I can't believe it's almost August...this month has gone so fast. Next week is the last week of camp, and after that we get ready for our language class final, so I've been studying. The embassy is coming back to do more workshops, we're going to Seoul for five days, and then we're heading out to our placements the following week (sorry if I've already told you that, I have a hard time keeping track of what I've told everyone).

Oh, we've been working on pronunciation and intonation stuff in class, so I printed off the transcript of some scenes from You're Beautiful, and I've been trying to shadow the lines and practice that way. And our Korean teacher said she used to be an idol/singer when she was younger, but we don't know if it's really true. I have no way of figuring out, either. That's about the most excitement I've had recently.

(Sorry about the double post, just ignore the one below!)
Oh my gosh, it was so fun! I edited half my photos yesterday, so hopefully I'll finish them soon. I don't have an updated version of our scrapbook software my mom used to use, so I've never tried it; what program do you use?

How did the judging at the fair go? That's exciting! I'm not brave enough to do that.

The camp is for middle and high school students, but we have some kids as young as 9 or 10, so that makes certain activity and classroom dynamics kind of interesting to manage. I taught on Thursday, and will again this Tues and Fri, so I'm having fun! The first lesson went ok, but not quite up to my performance standards. Every bit of practice helps, but I can't really expect to become an awesome teacher overnight. My next lesson is gonna be listening comprehension stuff, so I'm trying to make the worksheet a little bit fun.

Ah, sorry for taking so long to reply! We went out of town for the weekend. Linen paper is heavy and soft usually, and also has a lot of texture to it.

I have some actual scrapbooking stuff, but I like to make mine with stuff I just have and find, it's so much more personalized that way, but then I have to be careful about making sure it's all acid free and stuff. Ahaha, puking rainbows! That made me lol =)

I know exactly what you mean! Journals make really awesome dumping grounds for processing stuff. Thank you, and it's probably a good thing you don't mind my rants because they're rather a common phenomenon >.< (and the same goes for you, as well)

Yeah, I totally have a disclaimer like that in the intro draft, haha! This week and next are super busy because we're running an English camp in addition to orientation stuff, but hopefully I can work on it soon; I've been collecting ideas.

Ooh, columns is a good idea; Japanese to Korean is going to be easy, Korean to Japanese is going to be difficult; I don't know yet logistically if I should go for so much at one time because it might take forever, but we'll see :) Thanks for all the suggestions!

How are work and summer break coming along? I can't believe it's almost August already o.O

(Sorry if I'm over thinking that, it's just been swirling all around in my head how to do this the best way.)

Stationery stores are usually pricey, but this store in particular specializes in handmade, imported linen stationery, the stuff that costs the price of what you'd pay for an average medium-grade set for one sheet. Scrapbook paper is sometimes really pretty, but there's also a lot of cutesy stuff. Not that I'm against cutesy stuff, but the patterns tend to not be in my style.

[warning: soapbox ranting ahead]

I don't think you should feel bad for not writing your journal often. Obviously, there are some personal or professional goals out there that would include keeping an intensive diary, but if you like writing in it sometimes yet not enough to make time for it everyday, then just go with it whenever its relevant to you and enjoy that much. Maybe that's not what you meant at all and sorry to be all on the soapbox, but I know I used to have this sense of guilt when I'd let time pass without journaling, but if its a personal goal then you can make it whatever you want, I don't think there's a definition of what a "good" or "bad" journal schedule is. I'm a happier person when I write mine, and have professional goals that include forcing myself to write often.

Yeah, I'm excited to write about my favorite languages! I guess I could make it in multiple parts, but I don't know how that would work...right now I'm envisioning it geared towards people who already are familiar with Japanese as sort of a shortcut to Korean, and then putting a more detailed explanation at the bottom for people who don't have Asian language experience and would need more explanation on certain points.

The only problem is, I'm so new to Korean that I'll probably make mistakes in the beginning, and make accidental assumptions based on Japanese, but I'm gonna try this as a way to find out my fuzzy spots in Korean (and in Eng and Jp, as well) and then I can ask friends for clarification, so it should help me learn, too.

What do you think would be a good way to involve Japanese? Putting in another section that teaches Japanese from the Korean background perspective, or just making the first section more detailed?

Aw, I really miss snuggling with my puppy!

I'm working on typing up my Korean notes, but I can't promise how fast I'll get through them. I think I'll maybe post that stuff to the blog as well, cause I want to do a Japanese/Korean comparative linguistics thing, but I can put in English explanations as well.

I'm the same way, relearning what you already know from a new perspective can be really helpful in solidifying it/making it usable.

We have a place called Rock, Paper, Scissors in my hometown, but they mostly have really high quality stuff and scrapbooking stuff. I'm not really an artist or conventional scrapbooker, so I usually just go in there to look and feel all the pretty things!

I do write in my journal a lot. Well, in college I didn't really have time to, but I did always before then, in Japan, and I started again this May. It just helps me live, and deal with life.

Same here! Accountability is so important, even though it's not fun sometimes. It is so easy to get distracted by life.

Yeah, pretty much! Like a small shop with office supplies. I bought a new journal cause mine's almost full, some colored letter paper and envelopes (I love writing and getting snail mail), and a few hundred flashcards.

Ooh, pen pals are so much fun! We had a guest speaker from the US embassy come today (he's actually a language specialist, I think) and he demonstrating teaching a first L2 lesson in the target language using Czech. I was watching and taking notes, but the few words I picked up are yeden = one, (a)no = yes, and nay = no; the yes and no are pretty confusing for English speakers learning Korean, huh? ^^

Yes, I'm a Christian too :) We were mostly just sharing struggles from the week and then encouraging one another, but two of our OC's apparently planned another one for tonight, which is pretty cool. Oh, and thanks for telling me about her, I will have to check it out!

Poor dog and cat :( I'm sure you made it up to them though.

Sure! I can at least teach you what I learned this week, although maybe you covered it in your TTMIK lessons, and you probably know a lot more vocab than me. Where to start? We learned basic verb conjugations and particles so far, that's it...

That would be so awesome! You wouldn't have to pay hardly anything for shipping anymore. Making things or people apparatable would also be disastrous to crime fighting, I feel. There are just some things, like A-bombs, that aren't worth making even if they are possible imho.

I am having a great time, thanks! Sure, I can teach you :) Have you studied Korean, too? Or which languages? I took Spanish in grade school, know random stuff in German and French, self-studied Celtic languages for awhile in high school, and did one year of mandarin in college, but Japanese is the only one that has stuck so far. The third language is a lot easier in some ways, but in others it's like pulling teeth.

Ooh, what kind of pets? Last night we had a dance party in our lounge, and then most everyone else went out but I stayed in for some peace and quiet. Today I studied and went to the stationery store with my roommate, and tomorrow I'm doing bible study with a couple friends and then more studying, most likely. Ooh, where is the missionary working (if that's not sensitive information)? I enjoy it whenever we have a missionary speaking.

Aww! At least there is still the candy, though. Caramels are my favorite.

I really want one of those machines they have on Star Trek that apparates food, or whatever you call that.

Life...I guess the uncertainty is wherein the excitement lies. I'm not always enthusiastic about excitement, but I guess that's an area to work on.

Korea has been awesome!! We've been having some intense but really wonderful language classes and cultural and teaching workshops, so I'm pretty tired but intellectually catalyzed.

My Korean has gone from a garbled "kamsahamnida" to being able to introduce myself and ask for directions in four days, so it's pretty exciting. I obviously have a long way to go yet, and I really need to study and solidify everything this weekend, but the grammar is pretty similar to Japanese, and so is more of the vocabulary than I was expecting, so I'm pretty excited to keep learning.

Oh, blog post is finally up, although not too many details yet, sorry. Any fun plans for the weekend?

Wow, no candy in parades? Can you even call it a parade without dirt cheap candy being thrown at you?

Aww, that is so nice of you! I wish you could, too, haha~
And yes, I'm very thankful to have made it safe and sound. There's not really any use worrying over something like that anyway.

Thank you so much for the recipe! I don't mind at all :)
