Everyone Deserve a Treat Like This Drama Once In A While

101% RECOMMENDED
This drama started with a bang and continued to be my Fav Mon/Tue drama in march 2022 though there are many other Ongoing dramas that are good, but what makes this drama special is that it's fun and easy to watch, the best choice for binge-watching you just put this show on you'll have the most fun time and would Giggling for 8 hours and 4 hours you would be swooning over the romance. it's a fast-paced romance line either it's the first lead or second lead, this drama is filled with amazingly passionate couple chemistry and makes this drama so swoon-worthy... A drama can't be any more cliche than this one, but in every scene, you will be like "ok this has been done before but never on this level". this show has a unique quality that it doesn't make u irritated with its cliche plot but makes it more interesting and enjoyable due to its comic timing. Once you put it on you'll be eager for more and more that's how good this show is...
The reason I started watching this drama was that it was the newest Kdrama on Netflix with only 1 episode out and DANG I was hooked since, just because it was easily available on Netflix and Trailer seemed so fun, that I started watching it instantly; I had to suffer 6 weeks to finally see it's ending but surely this drama made MARCH 2022 SO MUCH FUN (jeez I'm gonna miss this drama so much).
Some Like 1st lead couple and some Like 2nd lead couple and it's totally alright but no need to compare these couples, BOTH couple's chemistry makes this drama Balanced and Worth checking out as the drama shows different aspects of romance.
Young Seo & Hari Are the best best-friends ever. A perfect example of a friend in need is a friend indeed (throughout the series they are seen cheering and helping out each other )
OVERALL: This drama is very good to watch, relaxing and gives a good laugh and constantly reminded me of how single I am...lol
*HONOURABLE Mention: Kim Min-Kyu with glasses... Is so CHARISMATIC... *wanjeon jalsaeng-gyeosso* (AND its special use in episode 8 had me freaked out...FIREee)
;P
...
REASONS TO WATCH:
+Bromance and Sismance=10/10
+Grandfather and Grandsons=8/10
+Awesome chemistry Between all the character=10/10
+Fake Jin Young Seo Scenes=11/10
+friendship between the leads=10/10
+comedy scenes=9/10
+Catchy OSTs=9/10
+A Light hearted destressing story=8.7/10
+fun watch
+short
+All the DIALOGUES are Catchy, Exciting and hilarious at the same time, 10/10
BUT MY FAVOURITE:
*KANG TAEMOO: I'm quite good... at many things. (EP1)
*SHIN HARI: Makes Samantha & Rachel very sad. (EP1), Archaeopteryx (EP2)
*CHA SUNG HOON: I’ll make sure that you never forget. (EP7)
*JIN YOUNG SEO: If you don't I'm really... gonna cross the line. (EP6)
...
REASON SOME MIGHT NOT WATCH:
-Cliche (but in a most enjoyable way)
-PURE ROM/COM (THE BEST OUT THERE)
-CRINGEY (BUT Alluring)
-FAST-PACED ROMANCE (totally the reason why I watched)
-NARCISSISTIC MALE LEAD (BUT TAEMOO IS DAMN CUTE BEING THAT WAY :* )
-RICH AND POOR (who doesn't like seeing rich lead flexing ;p )
-IF YOU PREFER ACTION, THRILLER, SUSPENSE OVER ROM/COM (this is the only reason one might not wanna watch it but still TRY IT and take a break from Action/Thriller types dramas, I'm sure everyone will love it)
...
CONS FOR ME:
*are only 12 episodes... [wish it was a bit longer (maybe 16 episodes) and we could have seen them all for a little while longer...]
...
*PS: I hope you all will LOVE this drama as much as I did*... and if you don't then we can't be friends ever... lol
AGAIN= *101% RECOMMENDED

Free The Imperfect Truth And You Will See The Potential Of This Show

First of all, I won´t go deep into the storyline in my review, since that would take me too long to explain why this show is in my opinion a good one, even though some episodes caused a lot of hate. I firstly state that I am NOT playing down the TWs such as those portrayed in this series, nor will I say that I don´t understand those offended. I can definitely see where antipathy comes from.

Their acting performances were substantial and they were embodying their roles well. (I am talking about the main cast here)

Ye Xing Si/ Fu Yong Jie:
The beginning of this show is very light and most viewers may have not expected the quick turn in the XS and YJ couple, which was truly shocking for me as well. However, I did not judge the cast or production for it, since they were just doing their job in recreating the written. Many viewers started a hate wave against them and I can not understand what the History-Production has to do with the storyline.

The storyline was not too exaggerated nor was it something casual. I agree that Yong Jie made a complete reckless move on his brother while he was drunk and you should not take advantage of drunk people, on the other hand, wasn´t it to take the blame for his brothers coming out? (I want to point out the conversation in minute 11 of episode 19) Wasn´t he willing to lose his father to enable XS an opportunity to come out? He was hiding all his life and YJ just wanted to end the suffering by taking the blame. YJ is also mentally not okay and of course, that is NOT an excuse to stalk nor to use a drunk person and this is exactly what I am trying to say here:

1. Disorders are part of our everyday life. They lead to activities or behaviours that can damage yourself and others. They portrayed it well.
2. His brother forgave him. He wasn´t forced to do so, he had the choice to hate him and even take the video to the police. He didn´t. Not because he was afraid but because he understood the intentions and also fell in love with him, unforced.

Also, the episode when the father himself, who saw the video and everything, agreed to support them. Therefore there is a lot more behind that night than just pleasing a long-standing desire.

Xiao Li Cheng/ Teng Mu Ren:
To be honest, I was kinda annoyed with the beginning of their story because I thought Xiao Li Cheng was hiding too much behind his superficiality. It only took me another episode tho to fall in love with their storyline as well. It was very contrasting to the other couple. While these two have a bubbly and messy relationship, in which two friends discovered their feelings for each other, the other couple had a dark and complicated one. I loved the build-up and how realistic the misfortunes and downsides of their discovery were. Shock. Denial. Frustration. Dedication. All of the build-ups leading to a positive outcome of their relationship.

In general, this show had me jumping with joy and down on my knees the next second. No other story had made me question the reasons, connections and similarities to real-life as this one did. Not because it was dramatic and confusing, but because it was IMPERFECT. Just like us. We are not perfect either. That´s okay. We also know that this is not an excuse to hurt others but something that makes us human. If that show had no frailty, it wouldn´t have been this catchy.

This drama was filmed in the wrong era

If this drama was out at the same time as Boys Over Flowers or Secret Garden or something, I would be more understanding. But this drama felt like they were just following the Book of K-Drama Cliches. I have watched cliche dramas before that work just fine, but this was just straight up boring and outdated. Everything was predictable, from the dialogue to the tropes. There was barely anything to the plot to keep the drama moving. I felt like I was watching filler ep after filler. No wonder there's only 12 eps.

I thought we have moved past the I-will-bother-you-till-you-like-me-Sehoon-Lee Min Ho-like romance. The main couple barely shared any connection and had no chemistry. The second couple was slightly better, but they also didn't match in compatibility.

The only unique factor was the English speaking cousin.

Cotton Candy Sweet Without Any Substance or Intrigue

There was zero drama or conflict in this fluff fluff drama which inadvertently made it tremendous boring. The characters were not complex or interesting at all. They were all two dimensional. The ML was a goody with all the skills in the world and no sense of tiredness. The FL was the same type we all always get but without any tragic background. All the other side characters weren't interesting to pay attention too. The chemistry between the leads was very flat. Jian Ci was giving his all to be a green flag boyfriend but even then, it was just boring.

It was also incredibly stupid to give so much attributes to one character (the ML) such as Doctor, Chef, Voice Actor, Singer. IDK what else. He is probably a magician or magical beings as well considering he never gets tired. Meanwhile the FL has only two things going for her composing singer and plays instruments. Most of the time, she is just awestruck by him. There weren't any real relationship conversations or discussions. It was all blank stares and pretending to have chemistry.

MAME does it again.

I guess I should expect this from the creator of TharnType, but to be honest I didn’t know it was this author until I was 4 episodes in.

The actors are okay. I don’t want to say they have no ability simply because they have no reasonable script. I haven’t seen them in anything else, so maybe if they had something better to work with, they could have done well. The music is mediocre. I haven’t found anything great or terrible about the OST. As you may have gathered from the above: the plot is pretty much non existent. Outside of the relationships, there isn’t anything to be said so far. Not really a compelling plot and sometimes the storyline is nonsensical.

I can explain the whole story with some very simple dialogue:
Payu: “Let’s have sex.”
Rain: “No. I’m not gay.”
Payu: “You’re stupid.”
Rain: “I’ll make you love me so you can’t call me stupid.”
Payu: “Let’s have sex.”
Rain: “Okay.”

Pai: *Forces Sky to have sex with him.*
Sky: “What a jerk.”
Pai: “His sex was so good, I think I should make Sky my sex friend or boyfriend, as needed.”
Sky: “Go away..”
Pai: “You’re sick? Let me take care of you.”
Sky: “Okay, maybe we can have sex, but I won’t be happy about it.”

This is the gist of the show to this point (episode 10). It makes little to no sense and has very little plot. As usual for this author, imbalance of power in relationships and forced or non consensual sex that ends in loving relationships. I agree with another reviewer who asked if MAME has ever been in a relationship, cause this is not how people behave. This is soft core porn with very little story. And unfortunately the story you get isn’t worthwhile. We should expect more from our BL series.

I am my own Pawn..

Oh how I wish I could love this drama more.. I really wanted to, like absolutely wanted to love it.. And I genuinely wanted to rate it higher.. The first half made me feel like it had so much to offer.. It was good, the cast, the story, the way everything flowed and then somewhere around the halfway point, the drama looked me in the eye and started gasping for air.. It felt like it just gave up.. The expectations were real.. Sure it's another historical CDrama about a woman who dies, gets reborn and wakes up ready for revenge even if she has to burn everything down.. We have seen that.. Except we haven't really seen it like this.. At least that's what the first half made me believe..

The script, the revenge plot and the political intrigue were all pretty good to an extent but the production quality was an absolute letdown.. Quite a few times it felt like I was watching a low tier drama.. The VFX was pathetic and some scenes had almost no energy.. While some of the ML's action scenes were a blast to watch especially when he stepped in to save the FL, then again, there were also scenes that were really poor.. There's one battle scene where the FL fights alongside the ML and her soldiers and she is slicing through the enemy soldiers, but the whole scene lacked any sort of energy.. It looked like her slices wouldn't even cut a paper let alone a human wearing armor.. There was no energy or intensity at all.. I would blame the director for this..

The heavy use of AI really hurt this drama and took away a lot of the sense of realism.. Seriously, it was bad.. The war cries, the large scale battle scenes.. When you are looking at an army of 3000 men, you should feel something.. Here it all felt lifeless, almost like looking at a watercolor painting.. Some better editing, camera work and a bigger budget would have made this drama a spectacular watch considering the cast..

The cast, well they were top notch.. Gave some solid performances.. Chen Duling as Chu Zhao was seriously good and honestly this role felt like it was tailor made for her.. Except for the action scenes, I guess.. Anyway, she carried the whole drama.. Then again the entire story revolved around her, so she kind of had to.. Zhou Yiran sort of surprised me.. He was really good as Fu Jiu, but his character was underutilized.. He sort of disappears after 16 episodes and barely gets any screen time after that.. On top of that, he had no real impact scenes in the second half.. No fights, nothing that really made him feel like the male lead.. This just added another dent to his identity in the drama.. I wish they had done more with his character.. There was a war going on after all.. They could have shown more of his battles, how he killed the enemy state's prince and so much more.. I don't know why they chose to leave out that part of his arc.. I get that this is Chu Zhao's story but they had a great opportunity to use his character to bring some excitement to the last leg of the drama..

" Zhao, You were meant to soar up there..
And my role is to uphold you "

The chemistry between the main leads is so good that it makes you keep watching even when the story starts to bore you.. Layered and not overly sweet.. Good stuff..

We have to talk about the supporting cast too.. Tang Xiao Tian and Gao Mao Tong were impressive.. The Deng Yi and Xie Yan Fang rivalry was intriguing, but it just becomes too much.. There's so much back and forth between them, but nothing really happens for a long period of time..

This is the kind of drama that would have been okay with lesser episodes.. There were quite a lot that happens that we could have done without.. The pacing feels aggressive yet somehow it just drags on and on.. But at the same time it feels like the drama could have had more episodes as well.. Because it feels like they cut out a lot of the good parts just to make room for the court drama and the political tension.. Characters who were carefully built up suddenly start making decisions that feel like they exist only to push the story to its conclusion.. Deng Yi backstabbing Xiao Xun was one of them..

Overall, I am disappointed that I couldn't rate it higher.. It's not bad, it genuinely isn't.. It just feels like they spent the first half trying to make something special but settled for something average after that.. It's so obvious that quite a lot was cut and in that process we lost a lot of good moments, character arcs and visuals.. This is definitely going to be a 14 episode drama on a rewatch..

P.S. I loved that deep red palace aesthetic and the costumes..

Another overhyped netflix drama with no substance.

It's basically a take on all annoying cliches from the kdrama world - chaebol guy with a traumatic family childhood meets a lively, poor girl who turns his whole world upside down. Plus, there's the chaebol's family going against the relationship (what a surprise). An annoying love triangle exists too.

If you're like me, an avid long time Kdrama fan who's fed up with these cliches, you really should avoid this drama if you don't want to feel annoyed. I always crave for dramas that are realistic and relatable, and sadly this isn't one of them.

A lot of people also mention the chemistry between the leads as their favorite, but honestly, I didn't feel any spark at all. The acting was also too bad. The male lead was trying too hard to replicate the main lead in What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (with the countless hair touches) and it really din't work for him. (heard the webtoon really portrayed this but come one guys) I hope he gets a better roles next time cause he's actually good.

The only plus side I found was the female lead's job of being a product researcher. I often find it amusing how kdramas can romanticize jobs that often go unnoticed. This drama amazed me only in that aspect.

Really, skip it. They keep saying that this drama did all the cliches right... It honestly didn't.

A kiss is just a kiss.

This drama is set in 1949 during the prelude to the Communist Party of China's descent upon Shanghai the most strategic city in China at the time; which the nationalist Kuomintang had vowed to defend. The loss of Shanghai paved the way for the CPC to sweep into power and the rest is history. Given this backdrop, it is no surprise that this drama is often mischaracterized as a spy thriller. And certainly while espionage is a prominent feature, it is not at all what this drama is really about. It is much more a slice of life drama that explores the social economic challenges and shifting political ideologies that affects friends, families and lovers at this great inflection point in modern Chinese history.

I normally heartily dislike dramas set in tumultuous times like this because one cannot realistically expect happy outcomes. So I put this off for the longest time even though I am a huge fan of Chen Kun. But to my surprise, I enjoyed this drama almost from start to finish. The drama deftly avoids being melodramatic or maudlin by telling the story as a witty and intelligent dark comedy; effectively masking the sad, somewhat cynical undertone. I laughed my head off at the comical antics of the flighty widow who tries to turn back time with her first true love, a married man who is clumsily both tempted and terrified by her. It was only much later that it struck me what an ironic and cruel trick fate played on them and their families. Beyond Chen Kun, this drama is well cast with actors with excellent comedic timing.

The newly widowed Huang Liwen (Wan Chen) encounters Qiao Zhicai by chance as they both return to Shanghai. Having just lost her husband, a communist agent, Liwen tries to stay connected to him or perhaps give meaning to her loss by embracing his cause. Qiao Zhicai on the other hand is a a street savvy rogue and a bit of the black sheep of his family who ably navigates through the hyperinflation and shortages during those chaotic times. Their antagonistic initial interactions and misunderstandings blossom into a touching friendship and they become increasingly entangled into each other's lives. Together they try to protect the work of Qiao Lijie, Zicai's identical younger twin and a brilliant nuclear physicist. Their activities invite the scrutiny of the brutal secret police, putting them and their families in harm's way.

Where this drama shines is in its satirical portrayal how the main characters respond to provocation, conflict and deprivation. On the one hand, the drama mockingly lays bare the shallower, superficial and baser human traits of many of the characters and then redeems them by actions that also reveals their capacity for good. This darkly humorous depiction of familial bonds, sibling rivalry, love and betrayal as well as loyalty and friendship is vivid, hilarious and wistful. The overarching plot however will not satisfy true spy buffs although there are some thrilling, suspenseful moments and twists. It amounts to little more than a bunch of rather amateur spies pitted against a bunch of equally incompetent villains and making huge sacrifices for a mission that is ultimately of dubious historical significance.

I cannot praise Chen Kun's stellar performance in this drama enough. He pulled off both twins with such different personalities so convincingly I really believed there were two of them. Some of my favorite moments were when the brothers switch places - when Zhicai pretends to be Lijie he gives you the barest glimpse of Zhicai's concealed personality and vice versa. That is incredibly difficult to pull off and I don't believe I have ever seen it done better. I ended up loving both brothers and to me, Qiao Zhicai has become an all time favorite drama character. On the other hand, I found Wan Chen's Huang Liwen somewhat lacking. To be fair, it is a complex, messy role - a widow who is struggling to find meaning in her loss and existence. But she never convinces that her zeal for her cause is grander than love or friendship or even life itself. And she needs saving all the time. She only has three expressions - woebegone, helpless and cold. For her, a kiss is just a kiss; a means to an end with little true passion. I find her feelings for and attitude towards Zhicai unfathomable and frustrating. I don't think that is what the writers intended. Although she almost redeems herself at the end, I still find her unworthy of the sacrifices and risks Zhicai took for her.

For me this is an 8.5 that would have been a 9.0 if a better actress played Liwen. Nonetheless, I very much enjoyed the story and dark humor - it is very rare to see it done so well in c-drama. I can highly recommended watching this even though as a consequence, I suffered a major relapse and started cyber stalking Chen Kun again.

this came as las minute show to watch

the show started a little boring but progressed as it went. the casting and acting was great.. loved the lead actors chemistry.

the drama wasn't much which i enjoyed and the emotional aspect of the show was touching especially when the male lead mother dies.
I only wishes the second lead male and female either got together or had found an happy ending.
I loved the parents in the show because it gave character and enjoyment.
the show was overall a 9/10 for me . i would probably rewatch in the future.

a funny, cute, romantic, sad and yet a chaotic show!

I really enjoyed the show. The direction, production, beautiful scenery, costumes and acting by the cast was 10/10 and so unique! Perhaps during the show I had some cultural differences (knowing that it is a drama set in the Joseon era) with respect to one of the couples, but apart from that, I liked the rest of the characters and couples that were formed thanks to our matchmakers Sondeok and Jungwoo. *SPECIAL MENTION* the intros of the characters speaking to the camera giving their opinion and point of view to the different situations made it so unique, fun and charming.
The plot is interesting and in my case, captivated me from the first moment, that is why I looked forward to every Monday and Tuesday for new episodes! The first two episodes were not liked by many people but I gave it a chance, I continued watching it and thank god because it showed me that it is a good drama!
Rowoon and Yihyun showed such a cute chemistry during the show, their acting was so good and their love story it made me feel sad and curious at the same time because I really wanted to know if they would be able to be together.
I was expecting more romantic scenes from the leads but knowing the context (a historical drama) I really liked that their relationship was shown as two widowers hurt by the loss of their lovers but at the same time they allow themselves to love for the second time and be happy, having a beautiful, clumsy and innocent relationship.
I liked how it is a fun historical drama with its melodramatic touch but still not as structural as most set dramas. The cinematography, landscapes, and shots were very beautiful and remarkable throughout all the episodes, they showed and captured the traditions of that time very well.
So If you want to laugh and cry a lit bit, i super recommend this show! They worked so hard

The Long Struggle To Watch

First off: good acting, in spite of what the scriptwriter and director provided.
Still, the female lead was not so engaging in her facial expressions, and with disturbingly white capped teeth.
Chemistry of the lead couple also lacking.
The first 10 or 15 episodes it was not so much for two female characters being "lost in the world", as it was for the two male characters searching for them in an endless succession of scenes showing them riding and taking turns on empty wodded roads. They looked like idiots, and so felt I for still sticking to see the end of it.
Also, if one owns the fact that this story was inspired by a comics book story to the point of replacing battle scenes or large scale scenes with comics book style renditions, then why, oh why, the same one provides so called battle scenes with just two dozen extras. Again, not only it looks stupid and cheap, but also makes the one watching the series look stupid.
And the long, loooong scenes of people saying goodbye or saying hello. What's up with that so much irrelevant stuff on screen?
And the many instances of susspension of judgment, not of disbelief...
Just one case in point: closer to the end, one male character sets out to kill the one who killed the woman he loved, albeit in an unrequited love.
Anyway, a few frames down the road, he rides along the guy he wanted to execute. What happened? Who forgot who this guy was and what he was bent on doing?
What can I say?
A lot. Only that it will turn into a laundry list of "don'ts".
A looooong laundry list.

I'm a little ashamed I watched this one because it was quite appalling in its depiction of sexual assault and emotional manipulation between the two leads. Definitely a toxic relationship. This one was meant to pull on our heartstrings with that horrible breakup at the beginning. But all it ends up accomplishing is horror-stricken shock throughout its run.
Would have been a better drama if the lead who was killed at the beginning successfully left his abusive lover at the end and it was shown how his life was better for it. Instead we were relegated to disquieting scenes of obsession and assault, non of which show real love. Ultimately, this drama had potential that was then torpedoed.

"No One Can Judge Me but Myself"

First underrated gem of 2025! I had no idea this show even existed until I saw the trailer on X and was like wow, this looks good. I knew two of the leads and a few of the support; the writing, acting, storytelling, suspense, surprise it was all there.

Pros: The iron triangle consisting of the leads that knew each other pretty much from childhood though the ML or XTS/XH and SML or SY/HX (but I will use SML in this review because his "adoptive father" had the same initials)lost contact with each other and only met in the first episode. The plots revolved around a main story of the deaths of ML's parents which SML witnessed but because he was hit hard suffered from amnesia and didn't figure out who he was until later in the show thanks to the help of the other two. TS was placed in a foster home run by FL or JC's mom, so that's how they met. JC and SML met at work as he was a cop and she was a coroner. Bring in TS, the arson investigator and they created the iron triangle; a formidable team and great friends especially when SML regained his memories. Now they were up against two narcissistic psychopath serial killers; HP and SY.

This series left you guessing about almost everything; and just as you thought you had figured it out, they threw a surprise that was like holy cow, I didn't see that coming at all! There were individual cases to solve during the entire show but it all came back one way or another to the same two people who repeated the line that is the title of this review. All those cases were great and really showcased the strengths of our iron triangle and their sidekicks and leaders. HP had an identical twin HJ (but were different as humans could be; one was a cowardly nerd that always impressed their dad and one was a narcissistic psychopath trying to get approval from his dad) and one of them died in an explosive car accident in the very beginning and the whole show it was assumed by some characters that it was HP that died while HJ survived and was the kind one. Though everyone had their doubts and rightfully so. He stayed under the radar and didn't start showing his true colors again until the end of the series.

SY meanwhile was the serial killer that killed however he wanted and taunted the police until the very end. He was under their noses the entire time as he raised SML after figuring out that he lost his memory in the explosion that killed TS's parents; orchestrated by him and HK (father of the twins) and carried out by HP. All because they thought TS' dad had discovered their drug operation. SY was also responsible for SML's father's death in a way though that was his first one. Once he adopted SML he basically drugged him in some way to keep him from remembering the past. And though loving and caring; he was manipulating and controlling his "son" for 18 years.

Now I won't go more into the show because then what's the point of watching but this was a show you just wanted to keep watching. I had only ever seen the actor who played SY in protagonist roles so to see him play this horrifying character was pretty neat and creepy as to how he nailed it. He could go from a loving and caring father to an emotionless monster in the flip of a switch. And you could see it coming. With HP, he would be fine and then he would just go ballistic screaming, punching, kicking, hitting. One would do things cleanly and meticulously while the other was a screeching lunatic. There were other villains that were part of this series but obviously less than and when their connection became clear if there was one, you would see just how complex things really were. Some of the cases were related and some weren't.

Sadly, we lost one our leads at the end but her going for that necklace would be the only way to pin the entire thing including her own death on HP and prove which twin it really was without a doubt. Every character was there for as long as they needed to be. The side kicks of all three leads were awesome and there was even some comedy. JC and her mom's arc was actually devastating because just as they more or less reconciled and mom wanted to learn how to be a good, loving mom to her daughter, she lost her forever.

I really wish this show had the proper promotion or any actually because it really deserved it. OSTs, fight scenes, fire scenes, etc were all on point. I can talk about this show and its characters for hours but then you wouldn't have a reason to watch lol.

Cons: Very few; one anticlimactic death of SY, throwing himself off the roof when cornered by SML (many of us thinking that going in for that hug he would have taken SML with him) and couldn't face punishment so as a coward who routinely played God with other peoples lives and thought of them as things and cases, as well as manipulated and drugged the only person he claimed to love, so he took the easy way out and I felt that just didn't really fit his character. He should have died in a fire and slowly; that would have been justice.

When JC traveled abroad to study, though she constantly refused HP's (HJ at the time) creepy offerings to stay at his house that she would find a place on her own, she still somehow ended up living with HJ's girlfriend's house. I thought that was too much of a coincidence. Though no one ever explained it, it was a huge loophole. Also, her coming home to find the girlfriend that disappeared like she was a cop getting herself also kidnapped in the process was just dumb. No idea how she managed to shake the cops following her which was stupid to begin with. That entire thing seemed to go against who she was as a character and her death was also beyond unnecessary. She could have gotten to the necklace and passed out and then recovered at the hospital. But no, they had to make TS lose his training skills as a firefighter when he found her unconscious on the floor and instead of scooping her up immediately and running out the door, he spent precious seconds shaking her before picking her up and walking out in almost slow motion. Like what? Her dying was completely nonsensical. That's it.

Would I recommend it? I absolutely would. This was a gritty, arson investigation drama that had everything you could ask for and more. If you like these types of shows, I'd have to say this is one of the better ones despite the cons.

You are going to cry.

1 Litre of Tears deserves nothing less than a 10. This is my third time around watching it, and the only reason why I rated the rewatch value a 6 is because this is not an everyday drama, something you watch just to pass the time. It can be emotionally draining, and you need to be in the right sort of mood to watch it.

I wouldn't watch this drama all the time, but I would definitely recommend it to everyone out there. Whether you're a jdrama fan or not, I think everyone should watch 1 Litre of Tears at least once in their lifetime. Especially if you are a jdrama fan. How can you call yourself one if you've yet to see this? It's such a powerful drama. All about Aya, a 15 year old girl who's diagnosed with such a cruel disease. Her disease gradually takes away her motor functions, and little everyday things you and I take for granted.

This drama will open up your heart and really make you appreciate the abilities you have now. Ako (Aya's sister) says what I think is a pivotal message in this drama. "To actually have the ability, but to do nothing, I really don't like that." After watching this drama, you'll reevaluate everything. You'll definitely have a new outlook on life. I know I did. If this 15 year old girl, with such a hopelessly cruel disease is able to find a purpose to keep living, to keep pushing through to the next day, why can't any of us do the same?

1 Litre of Tears is near and dear to my heart. I love it so much. Of all the jdramas I've seen, I'd say this is the one everyone needs to watch. If you absolutely hate crying, and it's a deal breaker for you, then I can honestly say it's your loss. It's such a profound story, with an equally amazing cast, and the soundtrack is breathtaking. You're not human if your eyes don't at least water. Excellent drama.

Should have been a special episode only…

Or they should have focused more on Haiba Jin’s point of view. It just did not have much substance for it to be this long.

While I still enjoyed all the episodes, the excitement and anticipation from season one was not there. The whole season felt like a filler. There was not much change in the characters, their dynamics, little to no plot/relationships progression. It was just cute and funny scenes with overall maybe 20 minutes of important things happening that had some impact on the plot. Hence it would be better as a longer special episode.

I wish we had a whole season of what we saw in the last episode - finally getting to know Haiba Jin’s side of the story, his struggles. A little bit more of his serious side. Sadly, the majority of the screen time was still us watching Ochiai Mikoto through Haiba Jin’s eyes. More touches, more romantic scenes and more mutual feelings, but somehow I wished for more character’s progression…

I’d be lying if I said I did not enjoy it though. Hashimoto Ryo as Haiba Jin is unreasonably attractive so no matter what he did, I was glued to the screen. Takaishi Akari as Ochiai Mikoto was just as charming (if not even more) as in season one and her witty remarks and breaking the 4th wall comments brought smiles and laughter to my face. I did like how her gloomy nature did not magically vanish between the seasons - the girl is still depressed, but she is getting so much better now, one smile at the time.

I love the visuals and how at times not in touch with reality the show was. I’m sure I’m not the only one who got addicted to the quirky tone Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoshi presents.

Overall, it was not bad, but it has nothing on season 1. Felt like a transition phase, which might be the case if they decide to do season 3.
