THE RIFT IS HERE!!!šLets go to 3000 words! (Note from me in the future: Thankfully, it is only 2,219 words.)Here are my predictions from last episode: ~ 2000 Flashback: As said in my last review, I am going to stop predicting this because it didn't happen in episode 9. Goodbye 2000 flashback prediction! You had a good run. You better not show up next episode! ~ Dream will not support Night: Yay! I got this one right. I was between her immediately not siding with him or being on the fence about it at first. It makes sense that she goes against this plan since she is very hopeful about ending the curse for once & for all and she cares about not hurting people. I didn't expect her to break up with him that fast though and for Night to accept it as long as she is safe. That is so romantic yet so evil! lol ~ Night will not die: I knew the episode 9 curse is not that strong! If he had died, I wonder what they will do in the remaining episodes. Personally, I don't think he will die, more like a close death. If someone had to die, I think it will be Professor Wiwat or Kit.Lets go to the plot! There are lots of turmoil in this episode! Night is just a common enemy here as he is having a rift between Day, between Dream, and even between Ozone, who he doesn't interact with much. He is also not BFFs with the professor, which I completely understand since the professor sucks at teaching. He keeps saying "wrong. Wrong. WRONG!" yet never saying what is wrong & how to fix it. I know that speed running a decade worth of medical education into 4 years is stressful, but it takes a minute to fix his mistake. I like the fact they introduced that Night only has 4 years of becoming a surgeon. I forgot about that lol I was thinking like ah 4 years is a lot of time for them to find a solution. With the sudden timeskip of a few months, my hopes are diminishing a bit for them as it looks like the gang didn't make progress yet. I read some comments where people think that Wiwat & Kit are leaving out information, which does explain the information gaps that I talked about in my last review. If so, I wonder why like does it reveals a secret they have. By the way, I don't blame Night for his decision. Before he met Day, he already lost all hope and now that he knows there is a 100% granted solution, he wants to take it. He doesn't want to put all his hope & energy on a solution that Day is looking for that is not 100% confirmed. Whether he does the transfer or not, people will still die, it is just a matter of if it is your loved ones or strangers. It is like the railroad question of would you kill 5 strangers or 1 loved one? The scenario is: If you are a railroad operator and a train is coming into the tracks, heading towards your loved one who is tied onto the tracks, would you let it be or do you pull the switch for the train to switch course onto the track that 5 complete strangers are tied onto? Less people will die if he choose not to transfer. I do not think he is evil or being 100% selfish. He is being a bit selfish, but how could he not as he don't want to leave that type of life anymore. Back in 2016, he almost took his own life. Even though Day & Night are both plagued by the same curse, their situations are different as Day was never alone and never had to witness people dying in front of him unlike Night.By the way, what year are we in? I thought the January 13th, 2022 camera glitch was just the curse messing with the date or a foreshadowing tool, but someone told me it could be the actual date. If that is the case, how in the world did we skip 2 years in the span of 5 episodes? This better not be the case. Also, the pacing is off as things were happening so rapidly in the present, then suddenly we time skipped forward a few months with nothing happening. I heard that some people were complaining about GMMTV shows having 12 episodes, as it feels like GMMTV is stretching the plot of some shows too long. This show does feel like the plot is a bit stretched as I think in the past few episodes, the plot feels empty. I think it would have been in their best interest if they combined episodes, in order for the tension to be higher and the pace to be tighter. Maybe the sudden time skip would have felt better if it was after an action/tension-packed episode due to for better narrative momentum, emotional payoff, and pacing. This episode did have tension, but between the characters rather than between the characters & the plot. A sudden time skip makes the viewer think "that is sudden" and that is it, making the viewers feel disoriented rather than intrigued. Besides the pacing and the time skip, I like everything else. The action scene was also good and it looked natural. lol I was about to throw hands on Night if he punched Ozone. I mean I was about to throw hands on Night when he punched Day, but Day punched him back for me. By the way, I am glad this episode continued right after the last scene from episode 8 and that scene was just a dream, which explained why things were going so fast.Everyone is stellar with their acting! Gun did amazing. I love his scene with the unconscious Dream. He is so good at portraying the sweetness in Ozone and the sternness in him when he stood up to Night for Day. As for Pond, he also did great. I just loved his angry scenes as he is great at portraying repressed anger. I am glad that Dream is awake as we get to watch Pahn act again. We rarely see the serious side of Dream and she did that well. I thought she did a good job of showing & closing the soft side to her that we normally see. When she was breaking up with Night, it was all serious, but when she tried to get him to join her, there is a bit of softness as she believes he will do it. Then, he said he is fine with them not being together as long as she is safe, which immediately shows all sadness & surprise in her face. Finally, Dew did amazing here! He did a great job of maniac laughing, which is hard to do since it is easy to look silly, but he scared me a bit lol. The desperation, fear, sadness, frustration, & hope that he had to displayed were done so perfectly! He also did a great job in transitioning between those emotions. Also, I want to mention Gandhi & Pod. Gandhi is great at giving an uncomfortable presence for his character. Pod is great at giving a creepy vibe for his character. If I was Wiwat's daughter in the car, all hairs including on my head would stand up straight.Time to move onto the theories! This is going to be very short as most of my theories have already been proven or disproven. There is still 1 theory besides my theory of how it will all end that is still standing. It is my 2008 shooter theory where I believe that professor Wiwat or Kit is the mall mass shooter that took the lives of Day's sister, Night's uncle, and 18 other victims. It is the only incident that involved strangers and the shooter was never found. My other reasons didn't hold up. One reason that I find silly, but is standing is that Day & Night ended the curse (maybe they first met on Leap Day) when they were young, but they didn't know it. However, Kit decided to reactivate the curse by taking things into his own hands as he is still suffering from it and he wanted to see if he can end the curse again as he didn't know how they first ended it. I am grasping straws here as Kit doesn't feel comfortable killing people, but who knows maybe it is a facade. One thing that confused me is that the curse stopped coming after Dream & Ozone. Was it waiting for the older versions to meet with the newer versions? Does it have a bigger plan in store? Or was it a screenwriting error? At this point, we will probably time skip to 2024, maybe in episode 11 or episode 12. Hopefully, not next episode as it is way too soon for a major time skip, but I think we will time skip a bit in episode 10.Lastly, part of me believes that Wiwat and/or Kit will die, but majority of me don't think so because I am a sucker for happy endings. If not, maybe the things that Wiwat did will come back to bite him. I have no clue on how to end the curse besides by putting the universe back in order/orbit. Maybe by destroying something or restoring something or standing in a certain order like in Ozone's drawing under the stars kind of like a human constellation. When I first saw Ozone's new drawing, I thought they would all die as I thought it was empty. However, it just added 2 new things to represent the older versions of Day & Night. I wonder why all of them are stars and not planets. By the way, two of the stars are in a different color. Does that mean two of them will die or it represents Dream & Ozone as they are not cursed? Here are my predictions for the next episode: ~ Kit's Dark Side: I think Kit will sacrifice Ozone or make him do something dangerous. When I first watched it, the line "If you die, you will die trying" really stayed in my mind. Then, I realized that it also goes with the line of "This is why I needed Ozone in the first place". Both of these lines were said by Kit. He will probably suggest something dangerous to Day that Ozone should do in order to hear the stars longer or have more visions. ~ Someone (Night?) Is Hurt: At the end of the teaser, it looks like Ozone is having a vision of someone's looking at Dream, Ozone, Day, and Kit (I think) doing CPR from a hospital bed. Night is the only one not there, so I am assuming he is the one in the bed. I don't know if the scene will happen or it will just be a vision. I wonder if this is the vision that caused Kit to suggest his idea or it happens after he suggested it because Day agreed to see an extended version of that vision to see who is in the bed. The former makes more sense than the latter. ~ Night Switching Sides: There is a scene that looks like the 5 of them are teaming up against Wiwat. Maybe Night messed up during his first delivery and witness someone dying, which woke him up. There is also a scene where Night runs into Wiwat's house and it is empty (I think). Maybe Wiwat betrays him or he found out important information and can't find Wiwat. ~ 12:15 PM: At the very first second of the teaser, Dream solves Ozone's drawing as the star constellation looks like a certain time on a clock (12:15 (couldn't see the minute clearly and assumed it is PM)). Maybe that is the exact time the curse will happen (12:15PM).Favorite Scene: Towel scene with Ozone & Day and Dream, Ozone, Day, & Kit working together at Kit's apartmentI gave this episode an 8.5 (specifically an 8.75). I am becoming a harsher rater now as we are getting near the end, so I am a bit critical on how we are approaching it. I took off points due to pacing, abrupt time skip, and information gaps. I added points due to the stellar acting. By the way, if those information gaps do get filled in later on, I will go back to this review and add points back, depending on how they revealed the information.Finished just in time to rest & watch episode 10 later!P.S. I am finally caught up! Woohoo!P.S.S. I am writing this less than 24 hours when I finished watching it, so I might miss some stuff since I didn't have time to rewatch it.P.S.S.S. My review for episode 10 might take me a couple of days since I need a bit of rest because I have been writing a lot (I find it fun though, not complaining). Also, I am behind on reviews for another show.

will start with Jaab; dude got the aura of a player & yet thankfully he isn't a player. i kinda get why Jane (who has a bf) was effected, sitting close to Jaab getting seduced by him - he could melt butter lol... Jaab is smooth & even though i hate cheater's & would prefer the person Jaab is interested in - not be in a relationship. i still felt so bad for Jaab when Jane's bf came to pick him up. breaking Jaab's heart... hope this side story doesn't get too messy. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************regarding the mains, must say Pat give's me 2nd hand embarrassment, the long stares, the faces & the over reacting is uncomfortable to watch. but still happy he & Jeng got along better towards the end of this ep. i felt kinda bad for Jeng cause he isn't a bad person or a bad boss. yeah he does micromanage, but as his 'baby' the digital marketing department is at stake, he wants his employee's to be the best & in his opinion he is helping them be better. *************************************************but until the drunk car ride, i must admit that i wasn't "getting" attraction whenever Jeng was around Pat. if anything i felt like he was treating him like a young sibling like subordinate, that he took a liking too & not someone he was attracted or interested in. will admit Jeng is a tough guy to read, he is very stoic & reserved, he holds his card close to his chest, so i hope we get to see him emoting a bit more - cause i need visual, not just verbal conformation that the attraction is mutual. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************side note: i like Ae, she is a funny, sweet friend & from the 1st ep i recognized her from Lovely Writer, where she was the tough cookie manager Tiffy. so happy to see her again & i like that she is more heart then brains - what with all the whack advice she gives Pat...lol, but can't write she is Pat's bff cause she lied to him about Put & meeting him for work. there is more there & would love the backstory to get why Pat is so disturbed by him.

This episode gave all the feels. Kai returned, but the other chefs were no in a forgiving mood. None wanted to cook or eat anything Gaku had a part in. Kai and Goku had their four courses planned. The mentor made the bargain that if any did not move him that Kai would never cook againā¦and Kai agreed. When I heard this I was annoyed at the arrogance of the mentor. Who gave him the right to have so much power over someones\ās destiny? I was equally annoyed at Kai for accepting the bargain. Was he really going to end up an herb farmer?šMagoroku was the only one that actually asked what they were cooking. He realized the importance of it and backed his friend by persuading all of them to show up. Kai was physically worn out from the travel and planning stages of the meal. His chefs rallied with him to create the next level meal. The mentor quietly ate all four courses and then called Gaku and Kai to the kitchen. He then prepared his famous dish for Gaku who had never tried it. Gaku was transported by the flavors and apologized to Kai for failing to surpass the god. Here the mentor surprised me some. He discovered that when the door opened to next level that the path continued to infinite doors. That the both had cooked delicious meals and that was enough. Gaku got in his face a bit and asked if that was all he had to say to Kai. He asked Gaku what he was thinking after he had tried the dish. His response..how to make it better. Exactlyā¦the mentor said that once Kai went there he had successfully surpassed his god. That his food was delicious and he loved it. He went on to describe his finding and keeping Kai as his apprentice and had become a son to him. He said it was a fear of letting him go and watching him be sick that made him believe Kai shouldnāt cook. But now he knew he would not be alone so he could leave after charging Gaku to take care of his son.He looked Kai in the eye and told him to do his best.š„° it was a very touching father/son/best friend moment. After the meal the chefs wished each other to do their best. They each had a destiny to fulfill to make them the chefs they were meant to be. This left Kai and Gaku alone but they are doing well. They have a little hole in the wall restaurant that only certain customers know about. The three girls are keeping an eye on their guysš And may Director Saimon never cross their doorway. š This was a very fun journey to watch. The actors and production staff did an excellent job and the audiences was moved with all their efforts. If you enjoy cooking shows this gives a different perspective that focuses more on the chefs than the dishes. I found this a very interesting perspective.

Gaku worked so hard to become the chef Kai wanted him to be. However, that was not the chef Gaku needed to be. Once he achieved the sight of next cooking stage, he looked around to see staff and customers gone. He had quite effectively isolated himself as his mentor and his mentorās mentor had done. But unlike them, he saw beyond. Gakuās father was in the hospital from an accident and there Gaku told his father how he had failed. His father pointed out that his strength was not the same as Kaiās. That he needed people. He pointed Gaku in the right direction and spurred him on. Swimming friend called Gaku out of the blue and had the right words to nudge him to correct path. He needed a true friend to guide him. She was sad for his circumstances but reminded him that life can be both hard and beautiful. She reminded him to love cooking and that he was her hero. Energized by their encouragement, he sets out to find Kai. He tells him how he failed and drove the others away because they could not understand his vision. It took great persuasion, but Kai saw and understood the direction their combined talents could go. That together they could continue path to challenge god. They return to restaurant, but Ranna is quite set that Gaku has no place in the kitchen. And here is where the episode leaves us.š

Kai is facing what appears to be insurmountable oddsā¦a brain tumor with losing taste as a side effect. Does he risk losing even more with medical procedures or accept his current limitations as status quo? Gaku is being introduced to the management side of house and it is floundering. He has been fortunate to gain the favors of many investors but they are still losing ground between expenditures and gains. Gaku knew this unfortunate truth early on with his math skills. But as smart as he is, he is still basically barely out of HS and being asked to not only manage the cuisine for the restaurant, but to keep it afloat without input from Kai. Director Saimonā¦..the bad penny that keeps showing up. He has access to money, but he is a petty, grudge bearing little man that really makes you want to flatten him like the cockroach he is. šHe has come foreword to be an investor but wants exclusive management control. The loathsome jerk he is, he happily shares Kaiās medical records and how Kai has deserted them. After soul searching with the chefs, they unitedly chose to refuse the offer and to request he not return. He will be a pain in the ass til the bitter end but I hope that he has a nice case of karma we are privy to before drama ends. He has selfishly plagued this kid since HS and he needs to be on his way. We are given some of Kaiās painful childhood memories. For his poor situation, he is actually rather stoic. He meets his mentor who molded him to stay alone and trust no one as he climbs the tiers of chef mastery. He did not give Kai a way out to progress with less pain. He befriends him now but even Kai taunts him to stick around and see the monster he created. Gaku was the finishing piece of Kaiās quest to surpass god with his cookingā¦his pre and post self. Gakuās swimming friend has called from the airport. She lied to spare painful goodbye, but after Kaiās disappearing act she opted not to give Gaku a repeat. He is very sad because his friend will be gone. He appreciates all his fellow chefs but like math friends, they are colleagues or mentors but not really friends. He has achieved peerless stature and sees the gray for what it is. Leading with no friends. This is a lot for a 19 yr old kid to deal with. No wonder he is breaking under the pressure. Waiting to see if his math genius can come up with a solution for the totality of the responsibilities placed on him. Kaiās friend I think likes the spunk of the chefs fighting to stay with Kai in spite of his absence. Except for director cockroach who is openly antagonistic to all three top chefs, everybody else wants these underdogs to succeed.

Gaku was totally freaked out at presenting his food to his classmate idol. He had the typical nightmare where he was seen as a failure in math and cooking. His friends helped him along to regain his confidence and plan the perfect menu for the event. His sports friend was also dealing with a challenge. She was offered a place in Australia to train as a professional swimmer. Her coach wanted to know why she would pass up such an opportunity to stay in Japan. One wordā¦.Gaku. She had always crushed on him and was hoping he would return those feelings. She surprised him with a visit to let him know about the opportunity and he wished her well and rejoiced for her. He asked to swap hoodies, she could only sayā¦Kitadaā¦you are soā¦Kitadaā¦and laugh and shake hands farewell. He will be her fondest memory and she will be his dearest friend. We meet his HS idol who is a genius for sure, but also an arrogant ass. He chats with girl math genius and proposes most unromantically over the phone because it is most rational.š He is surely a piece of work. He is so pompous he doesnāt even realize how absurd he appears. He truly doesnāt care. He has visions of marrying the girl and having Gaku as his assistant to bring math to the world. He truly expects Gaku to follow him to Princeton and be his disciple. š The girl genius sees her fate, and like swimmer girl wished Gaku saw her as a girl.š
She already recognizes his gift for food via math but Mr obtuse is too busy eating gummies. I donāt eat superfluous food when Iām traveling. He was in a five star hotel eating gummies and had the audacity to give his plate to Gaku because he didnāt have time for his dalliance with cooking and fully expected Gaku to leave with him on a big math quest. Gaku is overwhelmed and ready to give up. The entire kitchen rallies and encourages him to go down swinging. Magoroku tells him to figure it out the way he always does. What could he personally create to show idol his new form of math and get him to eat it? He uses the painting on swimmer girlās hoodie to inspire him. Even Kai rolls up his sleeves to help him. Letās surpass perfection.š The dish he creates wakes up his narcissistic friend. He literally sees and recognizes the math on his plate and sees the potential. He acknowledges that his friend is an equal genius with cooking and that he must master this for the good of the world. It was interesting to see that Gaku saw no math answer from his colleagues. The numbers just piled and disappeared leaving him alone. He shares this with Kai who definitely understands. Kai did not share his own collapse and chat with doc telling him to stop cooking. He did not share this with Ranna either but did inform her that Gaku would be his successor. Kai tells Gaku he will be in charge of restaurant for two weeks while he goes to Paris to open a new location. Gaku said it was all a lie and that it was the last time he saw Kai as the episode ends.

ironically or not both leads r in the right, they just coming at it from different directions. Pat had enough & Ying putting the blame on him, was the final straw & he blew-up. which i get & even applauded, like i did when he almost bit Prem's head off. but i also get Jeng's POV, he reprimanded Ying for dumping all her work on Pat, but he needed to reprimand Pat too as no matter what goes on in a company, u must show outsiders that u r unified & a strong, reliable team. **************************************so Pat might feel aggrieved that his pain isn't being heard, but Jeng isn't in the wrong & if Pat cooled down, he would get that he should've just apologized for losing his cool in that meeting & that it wasn't the place. ***************************************** ****************************************************************************************************************************************really like Nan she is such a supportive bigger sister character, that Pat needs in that work place. as is i feel like he is taking Jeng's criticism a bit too personally, so Nan is needed to even things out. now Jeng told Pat to distance himself from Nan. idk how i feel about that - yeah he is right that the other employees r gossiping about Pat & Nan. but still that feels like over stepping & not something the boss should get involved in. especially when he told Pat he should turn to Nan for help & advise. idk.... he jealous? cause i seriously can't read Jeng that easily. he for sure isn't treating or looking at Pat in a special way. so left guessing... **************************************************************************************************************************** ****************************************************************************************************************************************side note: the "straight white male" comment was unnecessary & just plain racist, as if only white men r homophonic. i have seen men (& women) of many religions & race's act's that act extreme prejudice towards gay people.. whoever wrote this BL is really destroying it with all the b.s. virtue signaling. stick to writing a good BL where the plot flows & isn't draggy, or turn's clichƩ - thank U! **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************with everything going on, the only thing bothering me is that in Thailand it looks like they just don't lock the door - WTF?!??? & Pat is living alone - i can't get my head around this... *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************but regarding Pat's conversation with Jeng, i am sorry but it felt like Jeng was being nitpicky & it might have something to do with the flowers he saw Pat got. might be wrong, but Pat saved face in that meeting. Jeng saying he should've seen that page 1st - if i was Pat i would say "so u could change it?!?" cause sorry - yeah Jeng is the boss & has the final say, he might be helping Pat, fixing what needs be - but he aint 100% in the right, in how he is undermining Pat at every turn. *********************************************************************************************************************************************************************also Pat was probably feeling much worse on this day, his day began with flowers from Put, someone he's very clearly uncomfortable with. then the presentation which he worked so hard on was altered by his boss without discussion, probably making him feel worthless. Prem then kinda harassed him, and to add to it, he probably felt worse when Jeng called him out for his "mistake". still the fact Pat was & is extra sensitive is something he needs to deal with. cause sadly when u r a subordinate, regardless of the job there will Always be someone who will criticize u & ur work.
