Well, I dont know where to start. This is my first 24 episode drama, and I know they’re often regarded as a breeding ground for rookie actors, low-budget productions, and second-tier actors.

For the first three episodes, I kept wondering why I was putting myself through this. The throne alone in the first episode shows just how cheap this drama looks. The wallpaper on the throne is badly pasted on, and you can even see the assembly joints. So I almost dropped the drama. But the story made me want to keep watching for a little longer, and in the end, I found myself starting to enjoy the two main characters, especially the FL.

Let’s not lie to ourselves, though: this is still a drama with quite a few rookie actors and some pretty bad ones. The drama is clearly going for a very comedic tone, and in some ways, it works at times, but the direction is pretty poor. I’m not used to this kind of drama, so maybe that’s exactly what people who watch these dramas are looking for.

I think the main positive takeaway for me will be the FL, who, with a bit more experience and better opportunities, deserves to be in a bigger production.

Heartbreaking and Amazing but bring tissues

This show was an absolutely gut-wrenching love story. The two genuinely loved each other and I hope there is another life where they would have a happy ending. However, from the moment he chose to massacre her grandfather on the day of their wedding he lost that choice. Messing with her memory and lying about her family's downfall made him the villian. Even after all of that the phenomenal acting of the ML made your heary break for him because he genuinely loved her. However, again, he chose power over her up until the end when she gave her life to protect her people and their peace. And he had to live with that guilt and regret for the rest of his life.
The writing, acting, and directing were amazing. Huge props to her head maid in the palace for giving her money and helping her escape. Her loyal warrior maid by her side deserved so much better.

All time terrible show

I truly don't understand how anyone likes this show. The ML literally kidnaps the FL while she has amnesia and gaslights her by pretending to be her husband for eight cringe episodes. Then he forces her to go to Japan at knife point and still doesn't tell her the truth!! It’s so creepy and people call it romantic. The only reason to even keep watching is waiting for the truth to come out and it takes eight full episodes and then when she finally finds out she turns around lies to him. Dropped at episode 9. If you actually like this show just admit that as long as the guy is handsome he can get away with anything.

Oh and the acting is horrible. The crying scenes are really cringy. The leads are very attractive though, there's that.

Great Acting with an Overused Storyline

The utter heartbreak the ML goes through when he thinks she died in childbirth was so real you felt it through the screen, across continents and languages barriers, and then sitting home on your couch. It almost made up for his immature (bc it was) comment about her that caused them to breakup. I am proud of her for sending everything back and decisively leaving someone who acted in love with her but spoke badly about her to his friends. This is a strong character and one that was able to rebuild herself. I wonder if they had stayed together if they would have been able to save her other child. Possibly, money tends to open closed doors. Brownie points for the ride or die BF and her mom. Bonus points for his best friend for not giving a hoot about HIPPA. (do they have hippa in china?)

Bad Directing?

I have watched many— too many versions of this plot. This one does not have a leading couple with good chemistry. I would go as far as to say they barely haf any chemistry at all. Honestly, the hate she feels for her brother towards the end has better chemistry than the leads the whole show. Individually, the leads are good actors but i didnt feel as if they acted well together.

The End was Rushed but Overall Interesting

Changan Youth follows a loveable girl disguised as a boy in the classic sneak into a men's school trope. The supporting cast added a lot to the storyline and overall it was enjoyable. The prince was cute and while I enjoyed the show it was missing just a little bit of something and the end felt a bit underwhelming and rushed.

A Green Garden ML & A Girl Who Blamed Herself for Everything

I actually really enjoyed this short Japanese drama! The male lead was a complete green flag…smart, kind, reliable, and someone you could genuinely trust. I kept thinking he must have some secret or hidden side, but nope… there was nothing mysterious about him. He was just a genuinely good guy. He wasn’t just a green flag; he was a whole green garden
The female lead had a lot of emotional baggage from childhood. After seeing her father with another woman, she told her mother, only for her father to tell her that she was the reason the family was falling apart. From that moment, she grew up believing that everything was somehow her fault. It affected her self-worth so much that she became desperate to get married—not because she cared who she married, but because she wanted to make her mother happy. Unfortunately, she kept choosing the wrong men.
What I really liked was the relationship between the leads. They actually understood each other and became good friends first…which made their connection feel comfortable and natural.
My biggest problem was the male lead’s background. We barely got any explanation about him, so his character felt a little incomplete. I wanted to know more about his past and what made him the person he was. Also, the romance and intimacy were a bit disappointing. Their relationship felt more like friends becoming lovers than an actual romantic couple. Even their physical affection was very limited, and the fact that they barely even kissed properly looked a little awkward on screen.
Overall, though, this was a cute, easy and short watch Only 8 episodes, so it never felt dragged out. Not a perfect drama, but I had a nice time watching it.

One of my Favorite

I've seen it at least 4 times and give it a solid 9.5. The two have great chemistry and the FL is just extremely loveable in a way that the Tian Xiwei from New Life Begins is. It had a genuinely good plot and a smart FL who likes puzzles. The 2ML being the next king and the king not wanting to be king was hilarious. I'm not sure why Caesar Wu gets so much hate. He's a good actor.

It started off great but then they dragged it on too long. 56 episodes are great if you have a solid story line and I feel like they just dragged it out. The outfits were kinda confusing like the costume director wanted to have a passion project and merged modern day clothes with historical era clothes. In ended up feeling confusing especially because no one would have worn clothes like that during that period. Overall, I feel like it was made on the left of a vertical short and not a full-length drama.

Stop what you're doing and Watch this

A maid gets married into the royal family of a different country and the two struggle with their clashing views and creates strong bonds with her sister-in-laws there. Her husband feigning sickness to survive in the clash for the throne falls in love with her after she steals his food. He ends up pushing for the throne in order to better protect his wife. I can't say i blame him though. When Tian Xiwei - 田曦薇 cries it makes you want to summon a battle cry from deep within and put on battle armor and fight. While battle armor is not quite with my aesthetic; I got my girl.
I love the silly brother who chose to leave the toxicity of the royal family and only be his father's son. All he wanted was his father's love. His wife is probably my favorite 2nd lead. She was willing to fight for her husband. I'm happy for all the wives who managed to escape. His "harem" of love obsessed beauties still cracks me up no matter how many times I rewatch this show.

65 Episodes, Zero Reviews? Let Me Fix That!?

I am SO surprised that no one has rated this drama or written a review about it 😭 I mean, I get it, it's a vertical-shot drama with 65 episodes, but still, I thought someone would've reviewed this by now. But nope, nobody has. Never mind, I'm here to review it😙.

So spoilers ahead😎...

In this drama, a princess who mysteriously died gets reborn into the body of an ordinary girl, and she has to face the challenges of being an ordinary girl in her own rich household. Within the first episode, you get a rapid monologue from the child actress who plays Dana, and you can clearly tell they're not showing any flashbacks of how she came into this little girl's body, whether she was reborn or time-traveled, no explanation, nothing🙄🌚.

All we get is the monologue that goes something like, "I somehow came here, and I don't know how to adjust, and this is my new home now, and my actual parents are mistreating me and don't love me at all, and I even have a stepsister, I mean the alleged adopted sister who's also framing me as a villain and getting me punished for her petty so-and-so crimes."

Same old Cinderella plot but with a twist, it's Cinderella's father and Cinderella herself, not any prince charming, saving the day, with a little help from her grandpa and his son (the ML - her father) too😌🔥. The king himself (the "alleged reborn king" according to viewers, but according to Dana, the only person she actually knows in this universe, he's just someone who shares the same face as the king, her real father😢💔) is out here protecting his own daughter without even knowing it's his own kid! He thinks Dana is his half-brother's kid, but in reality Kang Yun is the real father, and he doesn't find out until episode 64. Episode 64!! 😭

And this little brother, the one who claimed he was Dana's father, actually tried to sell her off to a businessman as part of some deal. Right at that exact moment, Dana shows up SO boldly in front of the whole family and goes, she wants to change her father. When the lovely grandpa asks who she wants to be with instead, she points her tiny finger straight at Kang Yun and says, "He will be my father.😊" Kang Yun's reaction is so funny, he's literally stammering, like, "😳So you'll be m-my father? 😣😲N-No, I'll be your father. Is that right?🤨" and Dana just nods her tiny head😊, and it's SO comical🤭. I mean, you won't be laughing out loud or anything, but that scene alone sold the instant connection between father and daughter perfectly❤.

And everyone in the room is like, "Girl, you better think twice, he's a playboy, he'll throw you to the wolves himself.😏" But Kang Yun defends himself and tells Dana, from now on he'll be her father and he'll take care of her, and then he leaves the family meeting in his signature immature-arrogant-chaebol style💅🏻. Iconic honestly🙂🖐🏻.

From that moment on, whatever Dana says, Kang Yun does it. Ask him to sell his limited-edition sports car? Even unwillingly, he'll do it. Ask him to give away his favorite pet panda to the zoo? He'll do it. Ask him to hand over the ENTIRE company? He'll transfer the shares to her name within seconds, no hesitation, no second-guessing. Whatever she says is the rule👑. She IS the rule💅🏻. Like, come on 😭🤣🔥 The princess attitude is so strong that even the "king" has to obey, because that's his daughter. Except in this life he's not a king anymore, he's a chaebol, but she's still that same princess who's time-traveled or been reborn into the present with all her past memories intact🥺.

Kang Yun also has a little sister😍, and honestly she's way smarter and such a supportive character✨ to both the male lead and to Dana. She wants her own brother to step out of the whole stupid heir game he's playing with their eldest brother, because to her, preserving their true culture and having your own identity matters way more than money or unwanted power. The bonding between the eldest and youngest is also so heartwarming to watch❤. Dana is truly adored by her aunt and grandpa, who also genuinely care about the male lead💯. Their rapport might have some friction here and there, but Dana gets herself involved in everything, just to help her father rise back to the top (Queen Behaviour)💅🏻.

As for the ending of the little brother, his wife, his mother (Kang Yun's stepmother), and his adopted daughter, don't expect any classical ending here, not even an anticlimactic one. The ending was SO rushed. It just comes down to a dialogue between the father-daughter duo, where Kang Yun says they've all left and won't come back to trouble his daughter again. That's it. It's kind of an open ending, they never show whether the rest of the family finds out the truth about Kang Yun's real bond with Dana, and honestly, that's such a disappointment to me😒😑.

Yeah, you read that right. Because this drama is SO messy, you'll find the overall plot slightly confusing. I guess the producers weren't even sure if they wanted a time-travel drama or a rebirth drama, so they just did a bit of both, and yeah, it was a mess I guess. But the drama moves so fast that you won't feel bored throughout, even through the ending😙😅.

There's a little angst in the beginning, but other than that, you'll find this father-daughter pairing SO adorable😍❤, because the bond between them is just precious. I mean, you could tell the child actress and the actor were genuinely comfortable around each other. I wish the makers had given us 100 episodes. Let's be honest, this drama deserved 100 episodes🔥💯.

I'll tell you why: this story is a fantasy, and for a fantasy, the outcome needs to be logical enough for viewers to actually understand what's going on. This story had SO much potential but it wasn't executed right, there were scenes where the plotline should've continued without a break but it just... didn't. The cuts weren't clean from one scene to the next. In the end, the overall plotlines isn't very aligned, but somehow it still made sense to me🤔🤷🏻‍♀️❤✨.

I'm trying SO hard not to spill two more spoilers here, how the princess actually finds out she's Kang Yun's real daughter, and how literally no one notices the difference in Dana's character traits after the swap!? Like, of course no one knows about the real princess, but surely they'd know how Dana usually behaves, right? Aren't they around her enough? Except for Kang Yun and a few others, only Dana's fake parents would actually know how the real Dana used to behave. Maybe they're just so blinded by wealth and greed that they never notice the change in her at all🤷🏻‍♀️.

And they never even show HOW she ended up in that household, apart from a couple of throwaway lines between characters. Sigh😩... The producers and makers messed up so much here, and it honestly erased so much of this drama's potential💯.

Despite all of that, still a big shoutout to the team for this wonderful drama 😊🙌🏻 The music score was SO good, I just wish they'd shown more of the traditional instruments, and the cinematography was fine, though the color grading and editing needed a bit of work, and the styling across all the characters could've used an uprise too😊💯❤.

Everyone was shining in their own element, yes, even the actors who played the villains. The directing is done right, and I really hope the director gives us BTS of this drama, hopefully on YouTube. And if they release the UNCUT version?? Count me in 😌✋🏻

There are supporting characters who are clearly Team Dana more than Team Kang Yun, and honestly it's hilarious to witness😂❤.

The only real character development you get across the whole show is from the adopted daughter and Kang Yun himself. For a short drama, that's still a pretty big deal, and I absolutely loved both little girls' acting, both of them were BORN to be actresses💅🏻. I hope they get way better scripts soon🧿❤.

Also, someone please tell me all the actor names who played these characters, I NEED to know who they are!!!

And cheers to our male lead, Cha Joo Wan 🥂👏🏻 this was the first drama of his I've ever seen, and I really hope to see him in many more projects soon🧿❤.

I don’t know that I would call this a story about revenge.

To me, this felt more like one of loss and regret, and the acts of revenge were simply the vehicle used to explore this. It never quite felt like the point was their fall. that they fell became less important than how they fell. It was a reckoning.

I truly believe that if ye li were a man, this drama would’ve been received better.

ye li might be the strongest female lead of 2026 for me (of the past few years, honestly). This is my girl…she don’t communicate, she does not deal, but I’ll protect her with my life. I wish we got to know her better.

I had to wrestle a lot throughout the drama with the feeling of not wanting the emperor on the throne. There was a part of me that found him undeserving, found it unfair. That he would benefit from his mother’s atrocities became an itch under my skin. And so, I continuously racked my brain for a suitable replacement all while knowing there was none. But the question was never about who is good and who is bad or who is right and who is wrong. It’s about what’s best for the realm, and another upheaval would not have benefited the empire or its people.

Mo jing li wanted the throne, not because it could’ve been his birthright or as compensation for all he’d lost but because he never could stand the thought of existing in the world without power. He’s had something to prove long before the eastern palace was set on fire. His motivation is not inherently evil (and he had every right to feel as he did about those in power), but it was entirely selfish. He would burn the world to the ground if it meant he got to stand atop the ashes. Between him and the one already on the throne, the choice became clear.

I don’t think it ever went wrong - there are some things I would tweak throughout and about the final act, but I had a blast watching every second of this. (Ok, maybe not so much the random cutaways to give us character backstories)

I’m giving this a 9.5/10. Idk, I really liked it.

So much potential Wasted

The production was absolutely terrible. They had such great potential with great actors and actresses but the lighting, makeup, writing, graphics, and overall production was terrible. The only reason I finished watching it was because it was short and i was holding out hope the cast would save it. Spoilers: they weren't able to. It's not a 0 was because of the leads.

While I see everyone's obsession there is so much non consent and red flags- no red planets- it was hard to fully enjoy. Objectively, I see why people were obsessed but the noncon and the mental torture the ML was put through was a huge no for me. Physical and emotional abuse/blackmail is not okay regardless of gender.

The first season starts with the FL coming in by literally kicking and swinging punches. Combined with the MLs mischief she fits right into the misfits section in her cousin/brother's prepatory school. It ends off the first season with the 2ML trying to force an engagement on her by using her family's failing buisness as enforcing the relationship. However, she chooses the ML and starts dating him (secretly).
Darker and more plot than the first season, you get to learn why she was put in section E. There are a lot of heart-wrenching scenes but also a lot of fluffy scenes that make up for it. I'm dreading season 3 when she finds out.
