A solid 8 episode Korean horror drama but with minor flaws
It was a pretty solid horror drama that had amazing visual effects, story and music. The beginning for me was a little flat and was quite boring, I struggled a little to get past the show that but midway is where things started to take off. I read a few reviews and a lot of people have said how dumb the characters are but I think it was realistic because we are humans and in situations where you want to save a friend or a loved one, at that moment, your head isn't really in the right place. A few things that I liked about the characters were how strong portrayed the female lead Se A was and throughout the whole story she didn't need any saving. Though the acting was a bit of a let down, especially at the beginning of the show, it didn't feel convincing enough that these high school students were all friends but it started to improve in the later parts. A character I felt the most lost about was Kang Mi Na I know they pushed out a jealous and hateful side character to make the story more dramatic but I think that with her personality lacking depth it didn't add much to the show but rather just confusion on why Mi Na was obsessed with a boy. The premise of the show could be better because It is a recurring theme with the themes of fighting over a boy and being the heart break of female relationships which, I believe is too redundant and becoming dislikable. Another thing that I saw was people saying the way the curse started was weak. I can understand why people thought it wasn't too much of a strong reason for Do Hye Ryeong to want everyone to die but considering her age and the school environment, I personally felt the reaction was normal. Imagine your best friend who you trust to keep your secret uses your secret against you and makes you the target of all the rumours that aren't even about you? It would make you crumble and feel like you lost all your will there to feel anything.Overall, the drama was slow at the start but managed to keep the story together.
I don't know much about Korean shamanism but this drama made me more aware of it.
I'd say it's worth it to watch the drama but if you have seen these types of horror shows a lot then I wouldn't recommend if you are too highly critical of shows that have repetitive tropes.

wow go watch
This kdrama is amazing because first it’s something new. There are many twists and turns you won’t see them coming. It might be slow the first episodes but you’ll be enriched with plots in the later episodes. The cast is really perfect for this film also they play their roles well. If you plan on watching there are a few thing you have to be open minded about, remember they are just acting. You also have to pay attention when watching because every detail counts in this drama. The best KBL
I dare say that I have seen countless BLs and I would rank this masterpiece among my top 5. Among Korean BL series, it is definitely the best I’ve seen, the actors, filmography, music and script are absolutely brilliant. Everyone who participated in this project deserves the best!I didn't have high expectations at first, but as soon as I finished the first episode, I was hooked. After a long time, a series that you really wait for to come out and it feels like an eternity until next Thursday and the next episode. It's so good that I forced myself to read the whole novella because I couldn't stand not knowing how it would all turn out. I have to admit that it's really very accurate to the original. Every episode was amazing. I admire the acting of all the actors and actresses.

Disappointing.
After seeing the first episode, i was MORE than excited to watch this K-Drama, as especially by the way it was narrated and filmed gave me a feeling that this could be the Euphoria of K-Drama. BOY WAS I WRONG.The creators really poured their braincells into the first few episodes and then seemingly watched too much AI Slop on YouTube Shorts, frying their brains, and then continued writing the story. Theres no other explanation for this, as after the first half of the series the story just... LITERALLY falls off. Like... it doesnt make any sense anymore. All the build-up is thrown out of the window, plot points are forgotten, the story is made up out of thin air without substance.
Not to mention the romance aspect - it seemed to build up a really cool wlw plot after a while, which I was getting excited about, but then they also just... dont go any further? Like they build it up and then midway through the relationship build-up said "actually theyre just friends nvm" EVEN THO THAT WAS 100% NOT WHAT WAS BUILDING UP.
Not to mention the ending... the story was nowhere near done and had terrible pacing, so they try to conclude the story within 1 last episode and as i said: everything that happened there didnt make sense and went by way too fast. It was as if the writers just wanted to wrap things up as fast as possible so they could finally hit the bed. Thats how lazy it was.
OVERALL: DONT WATCH IT! This is literally the K-Drama together with "Hierarchy" that I can name INSTANTLY when somebody asks me about bad dramas ive seen without thinking twice. Which is so disappointing, as the FLs actress is really good and was in my fav drama ever (Reply 1988).

A masterpiece
What an amazing drama! One of the best I’ve ever watched. The storyline and the plot are so intriguing and fast paced, videography and directing are excellent, the cast is fantastic, the music themes are great and then, there’s Hou Minghao who dominates the screen! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥His visuals and his acting skills are amazing! Here we go, it's another Thai GL. The chemistry is great, the characters are more than interesting & fun enough, but I have two big issues with this show. Firstly the main concept related to the title dies way too soon. It feels like they are not really doing the friends with benefits thing from very very early on & also they are not even really pretending very effectively on the enemies part. Quoting "they'll do anything to keep it a secret, pretending to be enemies so that absolutely no one at work finds out"from the MDL description all I can say that this is totally false. The real issue here of course is not that they are basically dating from week 2 of their relationship, but rather that they are talking the talk & not walking the walk, meaning that the whole concept is really not working & is very forced.
Secondly the -largely- corporate plot in the final 3-4 episodes is quite weak, meaning that it's actually difficult to reach the closing credits. It feels like cutting this & aiming for 8 episodes would've been better.
Anyway Lal is pretty wonderful gl drama character carrying the entire show. The actress really did a wonderful job with her endlessly amusing facial expressions etc. So it's kind of worth watching just for Lal I suppose..
I don't have it in me to rate this above 7.5, but still it's way more watchable & less formulaic than 99% of contemporary kdramas.

I came for Xiao Wuyi... Then Xie Jiayu happened.
What impressed me the most is how effortlessly the drama balances so many different genres. It has everything: political strategy, warfare, romance, friendship, family relationships, comedy, suspense, and emotional character growth. Normally, when a drama tries to do too much, something inevitably gets lost along the way. Here, however, everything feels surprisingly well-balanced. The political scenes never overshadow the romance, the comedy never feels out of place, and even during the quieter moments, the story never loses its momentum.The romance is one of my favorite aspects of the drama because it develops so naturally. Xiao Wuyi and Xie Jiayu don't fall in love overnight, nor is their relationship built on endless misunderstandings or unnecessary drama. Instead, they slowly become each other's source of comfort, support, and strength. Watching them grow together felt incredibly rewarding, and by the time they finally reached certain emotional milestones, I was completely rooting for them.
I also have to talk about Hou Minghao because... what can I even say at this point?
He's impeccable, as always.
His acting never feels exaggerated, yet he somehow manages to make every emotional scene incredibly powerful. Sometimes he doesn't even need dialogue. A single look, a slight change in expression, or just the way he carries himself is enough to tell you exactly what Xiao Wuyi is feeling. There are actors who perform a scene, and then there are actors who completely become their characters. Hou Minghao belongs to the second category.
As much as I loved Xiao Wuyi, the character who surprised me the most was Xie Jiayu.
Her character development is honestly one of the best parts of the entire drama. She starts off as a sheltered, innocent young girl who can barely distinguish romantic love from simple friendship. Watching her gradually mature into a strong, intelligent, and resilient woman without ever losing her kindness was such a satisfying journey.
very hardship she faces changes her little by little, allowing her to become stronger while still remaining true to herself. She never loses the warmth that defines her character, and that's exactly what makes her evolution feel so believable.
More importantly, she becomes Xiao Wuyi's light.
While he constantly carries the burden of responsibility, duty, and impossible choices, Xie Jiayu reminds him that there is still hope, warmth, and happiness worth protecting.
The supporting cast is another pleasant surprise. Everyone has a purpose within the story, and even characters who initially seem secondary end up contributing something meaningful to the overall narrative. Friendships feel genuine, family relationships have emotional weight, and the political conflicts rarely feel repetitive.
Overall, Key to the Phoenix Heart is one of those dramas that reminded me why I love historical C-dramas in the first place. It has romance that feels earned, political intrigue that stays interesting, characters who actually grow throughout the story, and enough emotional moments to keep you invested until the very end.

You want rememberable classic drama this is the one for you.
Neo and Ai Mi gave a performance that has shocked mainland including 10 other countries worldwide at number one. The drama gave plot twist after plot twist. the acting was indeed on point even going so far as to say it was incredible. I am still at awe how netizens are enjoying this drama just as much as the fans who grew with the characters. I couldn’t see anyone else playing the roles of each character in this drama. big or small. the ost and instrumentals were perfect. this drama has taken the number one spot in my heart for best 2026 dramas. ignore the haters who bombed it 1.0 stars in the name of fake justice and anti ai mi haters. judge for yourself. because a drama can’t be fully enjoyed or understood if you, yourself haven’t watched it to judge. listening to trolls will only effect your watching experience. This was a drama with less promotion and somehow and someway became a hit due to the leads and the story, writing etc.Was this review helpful to you?
Barely watchable
My main gripe with this story isA They keep trying to protect people who deserve jack shit. I know they were forced to but still as a viewer it’s hard to care about the assholes these leads are risking their lives to protect.
and B the finale episode was a mess. I can’t really explain where but something went wrong. Nothing made sense. N nobody paid for their sins. All they achieved was stopping some evil spirits from murdering characters who are worse than the most evil tyrants in history.
Overall it definitely is nowhere on the level of Revenant n Exhuma in terms of occult theme execution or story
Also writing this review only to express my appreciation for the actor who played the shaman (Lee Hong Nae) and also the eternally underrated Kwak Dong Yeon. Just FYI if you feel I’m being harsh, this review is coming from a person who has been obsessively tracking the show for the past one year. N no I did not expect any romance.

Really well done
It was a such a great story. The main characters were amazing actors also the nc scenes were great and did not feel awkward at all. The angst, the hatred that turns to want and longing (*italian hands emoji)A few things I think they could have done better was
1. why yoon gyuho called chae-ha in the last episode - there was no explanation
2. the groveling i was expecting after chae-ha found out about kang taeseon
3. a little more clarification on how the crimes were committed
I do understand that there was very little time and too much to cover so its not that big of a deal because everything else was just crazy good.

when a drama has lower than a 8.0 on this app, i get hesitant whether it’s worth watching. this drama however was definitely a punch bag or whatsoever? i didn’t watch it last year cause it had bad reviews and people were complaining in the comments. i really don’t get it at all?It was such a great youthful drama with deeper themes that were portrayed beautifully. Making decisions and taking responsibilities for those decisions, i was actually baffled how they handled that in the drama.
We always see a blindly in love ML who cannot let go of the FL and if was also great to see the opposite!
I just love how lovely and lovefull everyone in the town is. Such emotionally rich people are always pleasing to watch for me.
I think jiang qiao xi his story was so interesting. it will stick with me for i wile, i didn’t expect this drama to hit me as much as i thought i would.
i’ve seen quite a lot of cdramas and i think there are a lot overrated but this one isn’t for sure.. i would highly recommend it.

Masterclass Visuals, But Confusing and Messy story.
You had me at the first. I thought i set my bar too low, because the first couple of episodes made it seem like by the end of this drama, i'm gonna be coming out amazed, but nope.The story, even though confusing and messy in general, was pretty manageable to follow with its mystery/comedy setup at first. It was really serious and dark at the beginning, but comedy kept throwing me out of it. I know comedy serves as the balance to the dark vibes, but here i roll my eyes out every time. Most of the characters are very serious, then suddenly one of the characters would try to be funny. Then halfway through the story, they toned down the comedy, and it started leaning more into Romance/Drama, which is actually good, if only they managed to do it cleanly so that it wasn't such a mess of a story. This is probably the first fantasy cdrama for me where the time-travel was handled decently, because time-travel can be very tricky. Here it made sense to me because it's the consequences of their actions. It wasn't just time-travel for the sake of it.
The only romance plot I probably appreciated was Wu Shi Guang and Wu Wang Yan, where their romance was handled well. The intention and execution were clear the moment they started going into their pairing. They got good chemistry as well. It's just disappointing that Shi Guang went from Main Lead vibes to becoming sidelined.
Ji Ling and Lu Wuyi, although their romance was cute and innocent, it just wasn't for me. I started getting into their romance once they got out of the time-travel arc, when it started getting dramatic. Ji Ling was the character i'm talking about in the beginning, who's breaking my immersion because of his comedy parts. Like, sorry, it just wasn't hitting me. You literally have You Chi, which is a good example of a funny character without trying to overdo it.
The last time i probably saw clean VFX in a cdrama was probably 'The Longest Promise', but this one takes the crown now, because its VFX is really good. It's probably one of the best fantasy shows where the visuals had a lot of care and attention. One thing that's disappointing though, is the scaling presentation of its powers. At the beginning, it was good because it matched the level of the characters, but when they started introducing literal high-level characters with lots of hype behind them, you see them fight, all you get are fart-level attacks. I don't wanna spoil, but if you're someone who watches anime, you'll know what i mean when it comes to the presentation of powers. Like, come on, i can see you have a high budget just from the visuals, but you can't seem to match that when it comes to the VFX.
The acting is good. I have no qualms about that. In the beginning, it didn't quite pique me, but when it started leaning into the more dramatic side, that's where the acting started shining. Chemistry between the characters started to flow as well. I don't know if it's just me, but the talking is dubbed, right? Because some of these characters, whenever they talk, i would notice their mouths are not even that open, but their voices are loud. I am very amazed by Tian Jia Rui's duality though, it's my first time seeing him, but he already showed how good his acting can be. Ju Jing Yi is probably one of the actresses I kept hearing everywhere. It's my first time seeing her. She's a good actress, like she has a very doll-like acting style which sometimes can be very uncanny. I might check out Joseph Zeng more in the future, because he caught my attention. Chen Du Ling, i already saw her in a few dramas, but i'm not really a fan. She's a good actress though.

I honestly loved the show! It was so cool seeing them take on roles that are totally different from what we’re used to seeing, especially Boss in such a hilarious, comedic role. Playing an over-the-top character is always risky, but Boss absolutely nailed it. Noeul brought his A-game, too. It’s awesome watching them expand their acting range. Their chemistry is always so natural, genuine, and believable, which makes the characters even more captivating.
I also loved Fu’s dynamic with his brothers. Can’t wait to see their stories play out, especially Tee Lek and Jeab. This is one of those rare series where the entire cast won me over. Also, can we take a second to appreciate how gorgeous Noh Phouluang is?! 😍😍 And huge props to Mote Pramote as Ryan. “Why am I here... just to suffer?”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s such a light, feel-good show, perfect for unwinding and having a good time. Highly recommend!
P.S. I need the opening track on Spotify, like, yesterday!
