❎Weaknesses
◍I feel like they didn't fully utilize some of the characters. They had the potential to play much more important roles in the story, but their characters ended up being wasted.
◍Towards the ending episodes, it felt like they had cut a lot of scenes. For example, in the last episode, just when Ye Li was about to kiss Mo Xiu Yao, the scene was cut. The fight between Mo Xiu Yao and Mo Jingli also felt heavily edited, as if several parts were removed.
👩🏻Actresses👨🏻Actors/ Characters
◍Bai Lu was incredible in this drama. I was already a big fan of hers, but this drama made me appreciate her acting on a much deeper level. Her character, Ye Li, was so complex and beautifully portrayed.Through Ye Li, I laughed, cried, celebrated her victories, and even felt satisfied when she got her revenge. And when she finally got her happy ending, I was genuinely happy for her. It really felt like I experienced all of her emotions and pain alongside her. 🥹💖
◍Ryan Cheng also did an incredible job. I'd already watched some of his previous dramas, so I was really happy to see him paired with Bai Lu. Their chemistry was amazing. 🥹✨His character was incredibly intense and carried so much grief on his shoulders. I loved watching him slowly let go of the pain, melt the ice around his heart, and gradually open up to and accept Ye Li. Their relationship developed so naturally, and it was one of my favorite parts of the drama. ❤️
◍Cai Zhengjie also did a great job. I'd seen him in a few mini-dramas before, so I was happy to see him in this role. However, I personally feel that they didn't make full use of his character, Mo Jingli. He had so much more potential, but the drama never fully explored it. At first, I really didn't like Mo Jingli, but as the story progressed, I actually started feeling sorry for him. He deserved so much more. Yes, he was a calculated person from childhood, but I believe his circumstances shaped him into that person. He wasn't born a villain—the situations he went through turned him into one. He lost his father, his position, the woman he loved, and in the end, even his life. And all of it happened because of one power-hungry Empress Dowager. Yes, he was wrong for killing innocent people and wasn't worthy of becoming emperor, but I still believe he at least deserved the chance to kill the Empress Dowager with his own hands.
◍I also feel like they wasted Han Mingxi's character. I was really looking forward to Lin Muran's performance because I'd seen him in *POJ*, where I absolutely loved his acting. Unfortunately, his character didn't get enough screen time or a meaningful storyline, which was quite disappointing.
◍Well, at first I didn't really like the emperor. I thought he wasn't worthy of the throne and even hoped someone else would become emperor. I also felt that he couldn't rule without relying on the Empress Dowager. But towards the end, he completely proved me wrong. He showed that he truly was worthy of the throne and had the qualities of a wise and capable emperor.
◍One thing I really didn't like was how they handled the Empress Dowager's ending. I wanted Ye Li to take her final revenge herself, but instead, they let the Empress Dowager die peacefully while feeling guilty. I really didn't understand why Ye Li suddenly became soft-hearted when it was finally time to kill her and complete her revenge. That part made no sense to me because almost everything that happened in the story was caused by that power-hungry Empress Dowager. After everything Ye Li had suffered because of her, I honestly felt the Empress Dowager deserved to face the consequences of her actions directly at Ye Li's hands.
💜Final verdict
The First Jasmine is best suited for viewers who enjoy intelligent protagonists, court politics, emotional character development, and romances built on trust and less misunderstandings. If you're expecting constant action, it may feel slow, but if you appreciate layered storytelling and character-driven historical dramas, it's one of the stronger Chinese costume dramas released this year.

10/10 The best seriesThis series had literally everything that No other BL had or has and will ever have. I"ve watched so many BLs in the past couple of years but I have to say, this is by far my favorite BL as it is literally about everyday people that have never been represented well in other BL series. They were always made fun of or were put in the series for comic relief (i.e. LBC, 2gether and etc...) those side characters were given the chance to shine through this series and I am so glad it was made. The actors are crazy amazing. Each character has a place in my heart.
The relationship between the couples are one of the healthiest and cutest I have ever come across. The way the Never hold grudges or if they did something wrong, they are ready to apologize and talk it out. No break ups in this series and that is another thing that makes this series different. If there is a misunderstanding, then it is literally covered by the next episode and not dragged out.
If you've been holding out in watching this, this is your sign to watch it! People saying "it's cringy or would've liked it if they made the romance comfortable to watch" comfortable for who? A lot of people have been conditioned to be the only compatible Love in BL has to include toxic masculine energy and has to be aggressive and etc... so they literally don't understand how a relationship between these main lead actors is possible as if they don't deserve love.
Before reading the negative comments on this series, please watch it for yourself and be the judge of it because this series is directed towards the Lgbtq+ community, it's not like other BL series that is catered for fujoshi.

What on earth
Was not what i expected, episodes were no n longer then 18 minutes.. felt like this was a low budget dramaI honestly don't recommend it i literally dont think i watched all of it,

Absolutely fantastic
Everything about this drama was extremely good, amazing and totally kept you watching...The hype for this drama was on point.
I love the characters (especially the ML), however the FL was totally a bad ass, she stood her ground , amd stood by him when she had too, i love how they romance developed and turth they seeked together.
The Music was on point and lisen to it every chance.
Overall this was awesome.... time for another rewatch !!

Sweet and warm
This was a lovely sweet uplifting light drama,I love the little ocean town it was set in, but the really thing about this drama is the uplifting message it carry, when life throws curve balls, how to keep going.
The characters were sweet and had a slow connection but they knew from the start how they felt for each other.
The pacing was really excellent as well kept you intrigued and wanting to see what happens. Also a bit of a tear moment.
Overall a good easy Sunday drama

10/10 Good series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Overall, a good series. As with many BL series, the long inexplicable separation can be frustrating, but having patience helps. A 10-year separation is a little too unrealistic, and would make more sense if it were a 2 or 3 year separation.
The one complaint I'd have is in the production, where there are several examples where Phupha's hairstyle and clothing seem to change from one scene to the next, when they should be only minutes apart in the timeline. Apparently scenes are not filmed in order, and not enough attention is paid to keeping everything consistent for the timeline? | have to keep asking "is that the same person?" With a little imagination, yes, it is.

I thought that this drama was really okay, it was a little over hyped.Characters were good, the story line was fair, it did however feel like there was a repeating and going backwards.

Read the description in the previous review by Barka, l' just emphasize that the story must have been invented and written by the devil himself. We are in a time when the world did not wish other people, we are in the time of a Chinese clan operating in the territory of Siam, and the intrigues are so terrible, so surprising and every ten minutes they turn in a way that you do not expect. Absolutely no boredom, grown-up, no school kids. I thought to myself, I'll take a look at the first part and then I'll probably wait for the translation to be completed, but somehow it's still not happening, and after the first part, which is such an introductory piece, I just took a look at the second part. But that was a mistake! There it started in such a way that ! devoured the series in three days. And that it is a pack, 17 parts of 70 to 75 minutes each! In addition to the intrigues and surprising plot twists, it is also a sky-high drama, mystical and sometimes even tragic (see the mushrooms), but that doesn't bother me, I also don't blame fairy tales for the story because they are partly fictional, everything was done so that the viewer, especially Thai, he didn't get bored. But on the other hand, beautiful visuals, a great theme tune and a song by NuNew that has 66 million views on YT and excellent acting in the Thai way. I was captivated by the beautiful sibling love, while the mothers scheming the ostopero, the younger brother, the brawler Yang, was every inch a symposus, the equally beautiful Jiu, who gradually fell in love with Thian, who was expected to succeed the clan leader, as well as both wives and one mistress the existing Song fruit and their two butler maids. A great experience for those who understand why it is filmed and made the way it is. The current rating on MDL 8.3 and IMDb 8.5 speaks for itself, who doesn't like Asian lakorns - I don't recommend it, others do!

When I started The First Jasmine, I expected a beautiful historical romance with a slow-burn relationship and plenty of emotional moments. While the drama certainly delivers all of that, what surprised me the most was how much depth it gave its characters. The biggest strength of the drama is undoubtedly A'Li. She is one of the strongest female leads I've watched this year—not because she is fearless or invincible, but because she feels incredibly human. Her past has left deep emotional scars, and the drama never tries to "fix" her overnight. Instead, it allows her healing to happen gradually, making every small step forward feel earned. Watching her slowly regain confidence, learn to trust again, and refuse to let her trauma define her was one of the most rewarding parts of the series. A'Yao complements her perfectly. I really appreciated that his role wasn't simply to become her love interest. Yes, A'Li helps heal his injured leg, but in many ways, he is the one who helps heal her heart. He never tries to force her to move on or push her beyond her limits. Instead, he stays by her side with endless patience, quiet understanding, and unwavering support. Their relationship is built on trust rather than dramatic declarations of love, and I found that much more meaningful than many romances that rely on constant misunderstandings or exaggerated emotional scenes.
The chemistry between Bai Lu and Cheng Lei is simply wonderful. They don't need grand romantic gestures to convince you that these two characters belong together. A simple glance, a quiet conversation, or a shared moment of silence says more than pages of dialogue ever could. Their performances make the relationship feel natural, mature, and deeply comforting.
The supporting cast also deserves a lot of praise. While not every storyline received the ending I was hoping for, each character brought something meaningful to the overall narrative.
A'Ying, in particular, broke my heart. More than anything, I wished the drama had allowed her to find happiness through her own independence instead of tying so much of her journey to Mo Jingli. She had all the qualities needed to become an incredibly strong woman in her own right, which makes her story feel bittersweet.
Then there's Mo Jingli... probably one of the most frustrating yet fascinating characters in the drama. Mo Jingli never felt completely irredeemable. His obsession with Ye Li after marrying Ye Ying was undeniably unfair and often difficult to watch, but the drama also gives him enough emotional complexity to understand why he became the person he is. I didn't agree with many of his choices, but I could never bring myself to hate him completely. If I had to point out one weakness, it would be the final battle. After all the build-up leading to Mo Jingli's arrival in the capital, I expected a much larger and more impactful confrontation. Instead, the fighting sequences were surprisingly short, lasting less than a full episode. Considering how much tension had been built throughout the story, I would have loved to see more large-scale battle scenes and military strategy before the conflict was resolved. It felt like a missed opportunity, especially because the drama had done such a great job raising the stakes beforehand.
What I appreciated most, however, is that the drama never forgets its emotional core. Yes, there are political conspiracies, revenge plots, and palace intrigue, but at its heart, this is a story about healing. It reminds us that surviving trauma doesn't mean forgetting the past. Healing isn't about becoming the person you were before—it is about learning how to move forward while carrying your scars with you.
In conclusion , The First Jasmine is much more than a historical romance. It is a beautifully acted, emotionally rich drama filled with memorable characters, meaningful relationships, and one of the most mature love stories I've seen in a long time.

10/10 One of the Best Korean Drama in 2022This drama is one of the best k-drama i've ever watch. I've seen thousands of drama out there and this one is for sure one of the best. I thought the story is going to be boring, too dark and cliché, but NO. Not at all. This drama will make you join the main characters on guessing who is the bad guy behind his misery. It has mistery that will not be solved in only one or two episodes but the whole season. But, it doesn't worry me because the story keeps getting interesting every episodes. It will not dissapoint people who enjoy crime show, mistery, romance and a little comedy.
It also has one of the best cinematography, plot, directing and acting.
All actors in this show are perfect for their role.
Especially, the male main actor Lee Jongsuk who portray a character Park Changho. His acting skill is so good. It's so satisfying to watch his acting.
I watch this show on Disney+. It's only available in selected regions, so i'm blessed that it's available in my country. It's really worth to watch.

ETA: I finished the series a while back, and I was just a little tortured by the way it ended. If you've watched it too, you'll know what I mean. Basically I'm wishing for a season 2, but not with much hope. I still won't change my rating, because ! think this is a damn good show.
I feel it may be too soon to post this review, since 1 am still suffering through each week waiting for the next episodes to be released. Still, from the start this series hooked me in, and I'm absolutely impressed by the performances of the cast.
In particular I think Lee Seung-gi is doing a phenomenal job of portraying a heartbroken uncle. He kicks ass, as does Bae Suzy as Go Hae-ri. And ooooo those bad guys are BAD.
To summarise for now: it's action packed, and there is great chemistry between the two leads. Political intrigue and corruption mean that you're constantly raging against injustice, and cursing the bad dudes who you hope that karma will sort out quick smart. But there's also constant hope that good will prevail.
Every episode ends on a cliffhanger, so the sooner we get to see it all, the better!

10/10 Gyeongseong CreatureSeason 1 It's such a tragic history of Korea while Korea was colonized by Japanese for 35 years from 1910 to 1945. It was painful to watch Gyeongseong Creature cuz it's based on true history but I am sure the reality was even brutal/ cruel.
The first episode of the show takes its time to build up the entire narrative, but once you let the period, the fantasy, and the premise in, you are in for a growling ride that you do not want to miss! The cinematography and director need to have mentions for 'Gyeongseong Creature'
Strong Performances: Both Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee deliver strong performances, particularly in the action scenes.
Overall: "Gyeongseong Creature" Season 1 is a captivating and suspenseful K-drama that successfully blends horror, mystery, and historical elements. While it has some minor flaws, its strengths lie in its unique premise, strong performances, and engaging plot, making it a worthwhile watch for fans of the genre.
Season 2 This series should have ended with season 1.
Pretty sure when this series was written it had only season one but Netflix being Netflix was like " ok now lets make season 2".
I personally am gonna forget that a season 2 even exists.

10/10 Highly anticipated dramaHan So-Hee didn't disappoint, again.
Experiments on humans were portrayed so good that 95% of the time I had to look away.
Characters are well-written and it's not easy to predict outcome.
Get ready for bunch of plot twists that will make your jaw drop.
On the other hand CGI was good but you can still tell that it's
CGI. So that's one of the things I didn't enjoy that much.
Anyway, drama is so good that I watched all 7 episodes in one breath.
Immediately after watching I came to give my rating, and l was astonished to see such low ratings. Most of the ratings are 1, and I bet those people didn't even watch the show.
And I'm guessing they were given by bunch of JK girlfriends that are jealous because Han Soo-Hee starred in their boyfriend's music video.
Don't let those small ratings to keep you away from this drama, it's better than most of the dramas that are currently on the air.
NVM. 10/10 now. Wow, It just keep getting better and better.

This drama has only six episodes, but each one is so intense that I couldn't stop, that's why I binge-watched it. I love every single episode. The actors truly brought their roles to
life.
Each character has an intriguing story, and everyone is closely intertwined in unexpected twists. The title Karma perfectly captures the essence of the drama.
Storytelling, acting, suspense, background music, cinematography, pacing, and even its concise format-this drama is a perfect 10/10. I wholeheartedly urge you to watch Karma 2025, especially if this genre aligns with your interests or if you're looking to explore something new.
