One of my fav toxic couples to date
I love toxic couples so if you don't like toxic couples then yeah you may not love this as much as me.The characters were written so freaking well. Fan xiao reminded me a lot of myself but I am less crazy I swear. His character was written with so much depth and he just felt so real. I loved that he was a flawed character and that he made mistakes. I loved that he was stubborn and sabotaged his love life bc losing control is scary. ugh I have already rewatched it like 5 times I love this drama so much.
This couple is so toxic and in reality they should not be together but I love when toxic love wins in the end XD.

Beautiful acting, beautiful cinematography, super thought-provoking.
Knew this would be a difficult piece going in but wanted to watch it at the film festival for Kitagawa Keiko (my acting goddess).Clearly from the synopsis you'd realize the characters have made extremely different life choices than the average person -- but the way the story is set up and the characters play out, you'd believe 100% why they do it and want to root for them. Crazy plotline (in a good way), and the directing was so intentional with the foreshadowing... The camera handled the curveballs and scene transitions with so much grace! High rewatch value is for the foreshadow-digging I like to do with suspenseful movies sometimes - when I recover from the emotional trauma from this one, that is.
The way this movie ended? Spot on. Definitely drew a round of applause when the credits rolled. My husband and I had slightly different interpretations but we both agreed that the fact that these were our conclusions means it was super well done.
PS: bring tissues., I def cried.

The Yearning Was Real, The Logic Was Not
Started with a royal bang, ended with a royal shrug. The plot holes were bigger than Joseon itself — time travel with zero explanation, and a wisdom tooth surgery performed with a face mask covering the MOUTH- i.e the surgical site (as a dental professional I am filing a formal complaint). Segye woke up in a flash even though his kidneys were badly damaged due to the multiple stab wounds- Writers care to explain? ML was sweetly carrying the whole drama kingdom on his back and I did enjoy the romance… until Shin Seori's ancient accent drove me to commit the unforgivable sin of switching to English Audio. BUT. The one thing that redeemed this finale? The original Kang Dan and Grand Prince sailing away to Qing, finally free — his yearning eyes said everything the script couldn't. The writers fumbled the logic but accidentally stuck the emotional landing. 8/10, would've been a 9 if science existed in this universe.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Enternecedor.
Great film festival movie!
Watched as part of the Toronto Japanese Film Festival 2026 line up - opening film. The storyline is predictable. But what makes this great storytelling is even if you know exactly how this will end, you will still laugh and cry when the characters laugh and cry. The cast list is super star-studded and everyone delivered.
If you're watching this in cinema, bring tissues.

Such Potential! Sad
My Royal Nemesis has all the elements for a fantastic tale with a self-realization arc across time, but it fell flat. Characters and events unfolded as prescribed story elements rather than as character-motivated actions. The chemistry between the leads was solid, and the supporting cast performed well but were given little to do. Sad.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
downhill
The first 6 episodes of My Royal Nemesis were a good watch, but after that, the writers wanted to somehow fix their mistake by turning Choi Mun-do into a bad guy, just like King An-jeong in the Joseon period! Furthermore, Shin Seo-ri's traveling back in time made the story more twisted and confusing! I really lost all interest in all the characters, because they had so much more story to tell but somehow the writers forgot them... even the involvement of Choi Mun-do's child is very strange. The aunts were there only for the comical parts. I hate to say this, but I expected a lot more creativity than a failed time-travel nonsense story. It wasn't needed. Instead, Shin Seo-ri could have just remembered her reincarnated past. She could have switched back to her present self and we would have a second, different character without the accent. It is a shame because so much potential was just wasted.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
This is like Taxi Driver’s younger brother
Teach You A Lesson was a very enjoyable watch from start to finish. The acting was excellent across the board, especially from the male lead and his team. Every actor played their role convincingly, and the emotional scenes felt genuine and impactful.Although the story centers on school bullying, it goes beyond that by exposing corruption, drug trafficking, abuse, and violence within the school system. The drama highlights not only students who bully others, but also parental abuse, parents who harass teachers, and authority figures who misuse their power.
One thing I really appreciated was the episodic format. Each case had its own story and resolution while still contributing to the drama’s larger themes of bullying, corruption, accountability, and justice. The show also maintained a central antagonist whose presence remained relevant from beginning to end. As each new case unfolded, the stories of both the main lead and the main culprit gradually unraveled, leading to a satisfying conclusion where justice was ultimately served. I liked that the drama never lost sight of its overarching storyline despite introducing new cases in each episode.
The comedic moments were also well timed and helped balance the heavier subject matter.
The drama reminded me of Taxi Driver, but with a stronger focus on schools, students, teachers, and the adults surrounding them. Both series share a similar sense of delivering justice when others fail to do so.
The reason I am giving it an 8 instead of a higher score is because the soundtrack did not leave much of an impression on me, and there were a few chaotic or awkward scenes that felt less entertaining. However, these were minor issues in an otherwise solid and engaging drama.
Overall, this is a well acted and thought provoking drama that shines a light on the damage caused by bullying and the responsibility adults have to protect rather than harm. If you enjoy dramas that tackle social issues while still providing satisfying moments of justice, this one is definitely worth watching.

Mixed feelings
The first few episodes came in strong, great storyline, balanced comedy, and solid chemistry among the leads and supporting cast. But after the accident, it all started going downhill. Why were they dying and resurrecting in the last episode? Omo, bored me tf out 😭. And why waste ep13 on grandma when they could’ve shown the two lovebirds having fun? This is exactly why I avoid romance plots, no unique storyline anymore. At least NamJun got his fame from this drama, and babe did well too. Definitely better than that other one she did, ‘Nice to Not Meet You.’ My first romcom this year that I actually finished to the end!!
The villain’s storyline felt poorly written, like he was just tossed in to fill scenes. He’s a great actor, but the writer didn’t tap into his strengths at all, it came off forced.

One word: perfect!
My favourite Korean drama... It was everything and more! All the actors were brilliant, all the characters were consistent and essential, and most of them were great. The story was sad but beautiful, and there were a lot of funny moments.
I (as everyone else, I would assume) especially love the fact that Hyunbin and Yejin were the main couple here and became a couple in real life - that is so heart-warming, and they have so much chemistry!
[Warning: Spoilers ahead!]
I wish the drama had ended with a reunification, but I get that they wanted to stay true to current events.
All the good characters deserved better, but OMG, Seungjun and Dan... Every time I think about them, it makes me want to cry - their story really, really should've ended differently.
[End of spoilers]
It was a bit difficult to watch this drama when I didn't understand almost anything they were saying, but it was a smooth experience when I rewatched it when I understood enough, so if you're planning to watch this with no knowledge of the language, I highly recommend a rewatch once you gain some knowledge (if you want to learn it, that is).
Thank you so, SO much to everyone involved in this project for your amazing work.

The Visuals: Maximalist Aesthetics and Genre-Hopping. Director Han Yan uses this premise to create a literal visual playground. Since the protagonists jump through different realities built by the human mind, the film drastically shifts styles with each action block: we go from a dystopian futuristic shootout to choreographed cutlery battles in Western restaurants, featuring ninjas, warriors, and gangsters. The visual effects (VFX), which actually delayed the film's release for further refinement, deliver a vibrant, highly textured maximalist aesthetic.
The Script: Between Action and Philosophy. While the pacing is brisk and the action sequences are the highlight, the narrative sometimes stumbles while trying to balance so many setting changes. The dynamic between Dylan Wang and Victoria Song carries the film, but the deeper commentary on the dangers of technological escapism—the fact that humanity prefers to live a perfect lie rather than face reality—ends up taking a backseat, buried under explosions and stylish fights.
It is a sci-fi visual spectacle that entertains through its visual creativity and energetic rhythm. If you liked Inception but are looking for something with the aesthetic energy of modern Asian pop cinema, it is an excellent choice.

Tsundere Love with a Capital T!
This ridiculous premise really delivered! It was an entertaining double Tsundere "Nuh-uh, I don't like you/Your face annoys me," which really translated to "Dammit, I hate to admit it, but I need you in my life!"
I loved how childishly competitive both of the MLs were and how they turned everything in their lives into a "face-off" since they first met. From grades and tests, promotions and project proposals, to arm-wrestling, drinking, and even feelings.
It was easy to see through their thinly veiled, heated rivalry, though, to their mutual desire to find an excuse to keep interacting.
And, dammit, if it wasn't fun to watch them struggle to really talk to each other!
Was the sound mixing off at times, and were some shots awkward? Yes. But was the chemistry superb enough to distract me from these issues? Also, yes.
Was a certain side character necessary? Probably not. But was he a silly sledgehammer in the leads' relationship, and did I giggle seeing his stupid face? You bet I did!
All in all, it's not ahead of the pack when it comes to J-BLs. But it is a fun watch!
