The only thing that I disliked, not hated to be clear, was the female lead. I don't know why I couldn't stand her presence, otherwise the whole show was a masterpiece and I will definitely be watching it again. Splendid performances by the cast!

Story
For a crime / mystery drama, it has a relatively bright storyline which is refreshing and untypical. The idea of a middle-aged housewife being so hooked onto solving cases in her neighbourhood is really entertaining. Her passion is so adorable, making the mystery cases seem less grim. Every single episode was engaging!

Acting
The two lead actors portrayed their characters very well. Side actors were also great with their supporting roles. The baddies would annoy you, the good guys were hilarious. I have almost no complaints for them.

The only actress I thought was a little lacking was Shin Hyunbin, playing the role of the bad lawyer Jung Jiwon. She would look awkward at times, giving a blank expression. However, her acting does not affect much of the drama.

Music
I do not look out for music in dramas thus I am unable to comment on this.

Rewatch value
I would rewatch this and I would recommend this to all crime drama fans! If you are bored of the mainstream dark crime dramas, do give this a try!
(It's only May but I can confidently say this is my favourite drama of 2017!)

First of all I will say its a manga-esque drama. Very light and romance oriented. The story progresses very well but is a bit rushed in last 3-4 episodes. A mix of comedy and drama story will definitely give you sense of satisfaction.

Heist/scam artist shows aren't unique to Korean dramas/movies, what really made this show enjoyable was the ensemble of characters, especially the partnership between a bumbling upright civil servant and a sleek smooth talking scam artist, which was the beating heart of the show. Ma Dong Seok and Seo In Guk had great chemistry and partnership.

At the start, the heists and scams were impressive, logistically and also psychologically. However, with the inevitable escalation of the stakes of the heists, my expectations were raised again and again for what the final heist/scam would be. I feel a little sad to say that I was somewhat disappointed by what was meant to be the final plot or climax of the show.

However, even if the snazzy heist plotlines were taken away, the show would still be buoyed by the chemistry amongst the ensemble of characters, which were lovingly written and assembled, and gave the show a lot of heart.

Story/Plot

The story/plot was good. All though it was somewhat hard to keep up with. I could never fully understand what was actually happening throughout the movie. If it had been a but more clear as to what was going on then it would have been amazing.

Acting/Cast

The cast was amazing and totally nailed the comedy aspect. The acting on the other hand was rough. During some parts of the movie it was awkward and over the top.

Music

I didn't really notice any music that truly stood out to me.

Rewatch Value

I think it would be something to watch on a lazy day when you're bored. It was funny and it did provide a good laugh so I would recommend it if you're looking for something like that.

This review may contain spoilers
This is a drama I began watching because I didn't have anything else to do and wanted to check out some currently airing dramas. Um - Best Decision Ever!

Unlike other dramas from this year, I didn't hear so much about this one since the main actors aren't that young and don't get as much hype from the typical drama-watcher. But I loved them so much - I think both actors delivered so much more than some currently popular actors, as they added real depth and feeling to their characters.

This drama tackles what happens after the ending of our favourite dramas, when the heartwarming romance is done and you're now the housewife and have to do all the chores for your prosecutor husband's mum. Your husband's never home, and the most exciting thing in your day is that there's a sale on eggs in the supermarket - yes, that is the life of Yoo Seol Ok, that is, until she meets Det. Ha.

Without giving any spoilers, this drama is a fun mix between a crime and romance (though this romance is not very pronounced, but definitely there). I know the leads are not the hottest or youngest but trust me, they are worthy of your time and will win you over through their charms and acting. I absolutely recommend this. I will confess that I started this because I was having "Tunnel" withdrawals at the time but, in the end, I believe this drama turned out better than "Tunnel" (though both are very different).

Of course, I must mention the ending because it's a make-or-break situation for some. This drama ends on an open note, and knowing Korean broadcasting agencies, it is unlikely to get a second season due to its average ratings. The ending is similar to some Western shows - it ends on a sort of cliff-hanger, as if they ended it that way to get you hyped up for the upcoming season. I know many don't like that but after thinking about it, I don't mind it so much. Sometimes, I like to have things be left open for possibilities, because in real-life not everything gets wrapped-up perfectly for you and sometimes you're left out of the loop on some things, and this drama emulates real-life a little too well sometimes. So, from me, the ending gets a pass but it might be different for someone else.

I hope new writer Lee pumps out some more dramas like this one - what an impressive debut!

Watch it!

Rebel, as its title suggests, seethes with righteous indignation at the Joseon era’s brutal caste system, and it does a better job than most dramas of showing the ways that people internalize and reinforce their own oppression. Caught up in the way things are, characters are often believably slow to grasp the way things could be and to fight back against the structures that constrain them. The show also features a strong ensemble cast, with exceptional performances by Kim Ji Suk as the unstable King Yeonsangun and Honey Lee as Jang Nok Su, and stirring recreations of traditional Korean music and dance. Viewed as a cultural celebration and social manifesto, it’s compelling.

The plot mechanics, on the other hand, are less effective. There are tons of intriguing set-ups that never pay off in meaningful ways, and the story takes an awfully long time to build to anything approaching actual rebellion. It also introduces a supernatural element that’s too literal to be read as symbolic but too underdeveloped to serve as a unifying mythology. It ends up feeling like a distraction from the very real issues that the characters confront – an easy way to get the characters out of trouble (hey look, super powers!) without serving any broader thematic purpose. In the end, the show is solid, but I wish its dramatic revelations were as engaging as its revolutionary ideas.

I love this drama because of KSH, his brilliant acting and handsome face; he was already fascinating in Dream High, so I am glad he got this huge here which gain him several awards which are well deserved. But If not for KSH, I would have not liked this much or maybe not even finish it after watching few episodes. Maybe because I cant help but compare it with another Sageuk i like;"Ballad of Seo Dong" which I have just also rewatched. Moon Embracing the sun was not as brilliant and polishedas BOS ; there were inconsistencies with the characters and the issues raised and and how the scripts were not at all impressive. And one big factor also is the lack of chemistry between KSH and the lead actress, If it was a different lead actress my review might be totally different I might have just loved it and didn't care about other aspects. I just wished the actress was different. (Sigh) but still KSH was lovable all throughout. I also enjoyed howKSH  sarcastically treats the Queen, and KSH  Relationship with his Eunich. Still giving this 8.5/10 for KSH presence in the drama; and 10/10 for brilliant acting of KSH and the rest of the casts. I will definitely rewatch this but only KSH scenes :)

Here for the cute boy in the dinosaur costume!! Kidding, truly, I wanted to try out the U prince series, since they are so popular. So, here are my thoughts:
as soon as you overpass the cultural shock, mainly the language (this is my first Tai drama and the language sounded a little odd at the begining, but had the same feeling with japanese dramas as well), you can enjoy this drama. The story is a bit silly, but cute. The boy is seriously adorable and funny, the girl not so much, as she tends to be annoying, well, that until she gets to know the boy better. The performances were okay, the settings quite beautiful, made me want to be on a beach on a summer day... Overall, a nice drama, though it got a little boring towards the end. But, it's only 4 episodes long, so maybe I'll try another U prince drama soon!!

If you have watched the anime, you won't find any surprises in this
live action remake. The story is pretty much the same, without the
confusing back and forths. The best thing about this movie, part from
the story, which is very touching and emotional, are the performances.
Sure, there is too much crying, but the actors were great portraying
the characters and their emotions. Especially enjoyed the conclusions
the movie gave on every ones story, as it could have left things as
they were after the final scene. Probably the story was dragging a bit
and there weren't many twists, so it did got a little tiring towards
the middle, but the ending was rewarding. So, 5 out of 10.

The thing about Korean dramas is, sometimes there's not enough story to fill the number of scheduled episodes, and other times there's too much story and not enough episodes to cover all the stories. Thank goodness for this show, which shows that when a story and its characters are plotted properly, a simple drama can start off on the right foot and be wrapped up neatly at the end of it.

This is not the first drama I have seen Kim Seul Gi and Doojoon in. They are both actors and seem to be good at getting the right chemistry with their fellow actors. They are really cute together in this show.

The concept of this drama is not 100% unique. There are a few drama tropes like time travel, cross-dressing, and high school pressures. But we all know that when the tropes are used in the right way in a drama, it can still be a very enjoyable watch. Although the female lead character is a high school student, the themes of wanting to escape a miserable reality and realising your true potential are relatable on all levels.

I think this show will be a great watch and source of respite for hardened Korean drama viewers who are tired of watching the same tropes being used in the same way again in drama after drama, or of episode extensions with too much filler and no storyline progress. A short but refreshing watch!

The two reasons why I've watched this drama was the story and Xiumin. First, the story: it seemed interesting and that it would have a nice, cute romance. However, the romance part wasn't that good and it never developed. The story was cute and I liked the frienship dynamics that it had. Lastly, there was some depth into it, or potentials to have some more depth, but it never got there.
Now, about Xiumin, he was good and his performance was okay, but he couldn't do better than what he did, as the story didn't help him much.
Overall, a cute drama, with an okay story, fast paced plot and few short-length episodes.
