strong start but failed to become wholesome
i must say this was one of the most overhyped dramas of this year. i wont deny the starting was very good, but the writers probably forgot to draw closure or probably writers were changed in middle point.otherwise, i don't know how they went back to cliché cdramas.
they forgot the truth behind 17 years ago, and the punishment of major criminals, but they had to make a great villain of qi min.
making a pitiful couple is a common. the character of qi min could have had a proper development. but no! the show was for fan service i guess

Cool concept, mid execution
The main concept for this series is interesting - that there exist people who are unable to see colors unless they meet a certain someone. I liked it and thought it had a lot of potential. I see this echoed in other reviews, but I have to agree that the execution is so-so. The show is limited by the 15 minute episodes, and the story has no chance to go all the interesting places it could. There's an underlying mystery at the core of the story that is not explored fully. While the main pairing has chemistry, and while I have a weakness for dark haired, pierced pretty boys (sigh), I didn't always believe them.Cute story, cute boys, nice vibes. It's a good watch, but I wouldn't rewatch. It's not an instant classic for me, but it'll keep you entertained for an evening.

A STORY THAT NEED MORE EXPLORATION
WATCH IT AT YOUR OWN RISKFirst of all, for all the people who have been with Yumi from the start don't get frustrated because people are asking if this could be stand alone.....we have seen Yumi falling in and falling out, we love the cell village but it doesn't mean that everybody have to go through same emotional journey as we have. Let me tell you the truth, I have watched season 2 before season 1 and because season 2 was interesting, cells were interesting, I watched season 1 also, not just because of Woong cameo. A good story make people crave for more. So, let them watch season 3 first then they will run back to other seasons too.
Some people are love in LOVE, more than the person, so, heartbreak is not for all.
Now coming to the review, a good wasted story, I don't know why they didn't want to explore this story, because this story needs depth, now I don't know if you have noticed but Yumi was little hesitant with this relationship too, sometime she was like yaa he likes role play then let's do that for him, I think this part needed more.
That said, the season’s biggest strength is also where it feels slightly incomplete: story exploration, especially in the central relationship between Yumi and Sun Rok. Their romance had strong potential, but the progression often feels compressed rather than deeply developed. We see the idea of their relationship more than we feel its gradual emotional layering.
Overall.........
Watch it at your risk because this story is so good that it will make you crave for more and more and wanting to rush to anyone who can complete that bridge and give this more depth.

story is set mostly between 2012 and 2013
The story is set mostly between 2012 and 2013, which shapes almost the entire feel of the show. The timeline can be confusing at times because it keeps jumping back and forth between years without clearly indicating when each scene takes place.Zhang Xu and Lin Yusen are both quite toxic in their own ways, although Lin Yusen gradually becomes more of a green flag character later on. The actor playing Jiang Rui delivers an impressive performance, especially considering how young they are. Despite the messy timeline, the moments between the male lead and female lead are extremely sweet and intense, to the point where they are genuinely exciting to watch.

Being an optimistic dumb is better than a powerful obscured person.
I felt the relatability, because the most terrifying scenes are the slow cuts and blood shots. I am not scared but I didn't feel fear exactly - more a physical unease, the same involuntary flinch I get when someone asks me to dress their wound.This series is good. It’s not like all horror movies or series. It's not a terrifying horror series with the sound effects or the ghost appearance. It's mostly blood oozing scenes, which made me squeamish while watching. I am not a horror fan but watch them occasionally because horror makes me differentiate reality and movie. I rarely find myself relating to characters in horror and survival shows, so without relatability I feel less attracted to them. This series made me cover my eyes, and at the same time, the characters are relatable.
Talking about acting, everyone delivered strong performances yet I personally want to mention the main lead. Actor Joen So Young, she perfectly carried me through Yoo Se A’s character arc. At first a cute normal teenager then scared one and standing against her fears and past and then finally becoming a fighter. Never felt like I was watching a series in her scenes. She perfectly embodies the character.
I could see that the characters which are optimistic are less powerful or commanding characters. Like Yoo Se A, a girl with her dream, honest and a happy relationship yet with a troubled past and Do Hye Ryeong similar, with fewer complications. These character types are present in slice of life or other genres as friend characters.
Now, if we take opposite characters Kwon Si Won and Im Na Ri. They are not inherently cruel or evil. These types of characters are most likely presented as main leads in other genres. Both characters can be Choi Nam Ra in “all of us dead" series. These characters are driven by their fears and insecurities. They lose themselves because of their fears and insecurities. If they put that fear and insecurities aside once, I can see they have a far better support system than the things they chase. That one difference landed well and made them villains, I hate them for their response but not their whole existence.
By this series, I thought being an optimistic fool was better than a powerful yet obscured person.

A swoon worthy ending but ended too quickly
There’s something quietly comforting about returning to "Yumi's Cells Season 3"—like revisiting a familiar place that has changed just enough to surprise you, but not enough to feel unfamiliar. I finished this season with a strange mix of satisfaction and reluctance. It felt complete, yes… but also a little too brief, like a conversation that ended just when you were beginning to settle into it.Going in, I carried a bit of baggage from the webtoon. I knew certain moments had been shifted around in earlier seasons, and a small part of me couldn’t help but notice that. There was some lingering frustration there, I won’t deny it. But even with that in the background, this season still managed to win me over in its own quiet way. It doesn’t demand your attention loudly—it earns it slowly.
What stayed with me the most was the sense of growth. Not dramatic, life-altering transformation, but the kind that feels almost… ordinary. And maybe that’s why it works. Yumi feels more grounded this time, more aware of herself. She doesn’t carry her past into her present the way she once did, and there’s something deeply reassuring about watching someone learn to do that. To just… let things be. Sun Rok’s arc, too, unfolds gently—almost hesitantly—but when it finally clicks into place, it feels honest. Nothing exaggerated, nothing forced. Just two people slowly understanding themselves and each other.
The pacing surprised me. I was fully prepared to feel rushed, especially with only eight episodes, but that didn’t really happen. If anything, the first half moves with a kind of deceptive calm, almost like it has more time than it actually does. I remember thinking somewhere around episode five, “Will this really come together in time?” And yet, the final stretch—especially those last two episodes—lands with a quiet confidence. Still… I can’t help but feel that one or two more episodes would have allowed it to breathe even more.
There’s been a lot of discussion about the chemistry this season, and I suppose I understand where some of it comes from. But for me, it worked. Not in a loud, immediate way, but in something softer and more believable. The kind of connection that doesn’t try too hard to prove itself. It just exists, and if you’re willing to meet it halfway, you start to feel it. Kim Go Eun, as always, carries Yumi with such ease that it almost feels effortless. And Kim Jae Won—someone I wasn’t entirely sure about at first—ended up surprising me. There’s a sincerity to his performance that grew on me over time. Maybe that’s why their dynamic felt real to me.
I also found myself appreciating Yumi in a new way this season. There’s a quiet firmness to her now. The way she handles certain situations—especially with Jo Ho—felt… earned. Not dramatic, not drawn out, just clear and decisive. It’s a small thing on paper, but it says so much about who she has become. And yes, the editor’s nosiness did test my patience a bit—but somehow, even that felt like part of the world rather than a distraction from it.
And then, of course, there are the cells. They’re still here, still charming, still oddly comforting. Sun Rok’s cells, in particular, were a delight—his reasoning cell being unexpectedly adorable in a way I didn’t quite anticipate. I did notice that their presence felt slightly reduced this season, but I didn’t mind it. If anything, it allowed the real-world moments to take center stage without losing that signature whimsy that defines the series.
I’ve seen people say this season lacks chemistry, or that it doesn’t quite live up to what came before. And maybe, for some, that’s true. But I sometimes wonder if expectations shape the experience more than we realize. If you go in looking for a certain kind of spark, you might miss the quieter glow that’s actually there. I didn’t watch this season trying to compare—it helped, I think. It allowed me to accept it for what it is, rather than what I thought it should be.
And what it is… is something gentle. Something a little imperfect. But sincere.
If I had to describe it in a single line, I think I’d still say this:
"It feels like a soft, satisfying goodbye to a story that quietly stayed with me longer than I expected."

bloody themes, strong language, and school settings
If you enjoy bloody themes, strong language, and school settings, then give this a try.It can feel a bit confusing at first since no backstory is provided, and it seems like a normal school drama. However, once the context is revealed, everything becomes much easier to understand.
The casting is excellent, especially the younger and adult versions of the characters. The actors deliver strong performances that feel natural rather than fake.
I do wish some parts were explained more clearly or given additional context to better understand the characters’ motivations and emotions.
Despite that, it is a show that keeps you hooked, making it hard to stop watching episode after episode.
Overall, it is a great watch, and I hope there will be a second season with more depth and explanation.

Cute and chaste Korean BL
PLOT: Seo Joon, a star actor caught up in a scandal, takes refuge in the restaurant run by Ji Woo and his friend. Some time later, Ji Woo welcomes a new roommate, Seo Joon, who is hiding himself. During their difficult cohabitation, due to their different personalities, Ji Woo teaches Seo Joon how to cook. They share some good times (secret, because of Seo Joon's popularity) and fall in love. But dating a star is complicated...+++ I really like Son Woo Hyun as Son Woo Hyun; his acting is very natural. Kim Kang Min plays a more stoic, less emotional character. Together they have great chemistry.
+++ Very good cast overall.
+++ Well-executed direction
+++ Good OSTs
### We wonder where this story is going, because the characters are complex, Ji Woo is hiding quite a few secrets, and communication is far from easy.
### Unfinished ending (see season 2)
=> The actors are good, but it leaves you wanting more...

+++ Très bon cast général.
+++ Réalis° bien maitrisée
+++ Bons OSTs

Is that....a healthy relationship in my steamy drama???
I know not to expect much from MBS dramas, especially ones with sex at the core of their premise, so imagine my surprise when this wasn't just two hot people rolling around in a bed, but it instead explored healthy masculinity and attitudes towards sex with open communication between a secure, trusting, and adorable couple!!What really made it all work was the chemistry between the two leads. Not only are they both extremely good-looking, but their interactions felt so natural and sweet, which made their intimate scenes easy to watch, and there was also effort put into showing their bond outside the bedroom, so it didn't feel like two horndogs just constantly going at each other lol. Shida Kohaku in particular was really great in her role; it couldn't have been easy given how young she is, but she was able to sell the playful seductiveness of Mitsuki so well, and she even nailed her emotional scene in the last episode. (Also, does she have an figure skating background because she could really move in those ice rink scenes!!)
It might not have been the most in-depth look, but I appreciated how they approached the topic of what it means to "be a man" from different angles. Even a clumsily written character like Saeki broke through heteronormative ideas in his brief arc (but also I probably could've done without him randomly inserting himself into the main couple's relationship lol).
And while there are important themes that can be extracted, above all, this drama is just /fun/. Sex is usually depicted in J-drama as a serious, passionate undertaking, but here we have a vibrator on an RC car attacking the ML, like come on lmao. Given that one of the actors is an idol who needs to preserve his image somewhat, I think it was a smart decision to use the silly ice rink metaphors for most of the sex scenes to avoid the awkwardness of trying to delicately capture it on screen while adding a quirky element that bolsters the playful nature of the drama rather than defaulting to a fade-to-black. It's definitely one of the most approachable dramas of this sort, and overall, a true breath of fresh air!

Has potential if there is going to be a second season...
I liked the premise, and the main couple was compelling, but unless there are plans for a second season I gotta admit this was disappointing. The second couple added nothing to the story, if anything it felt like they took screentime from what could have been spent to the main couple. The last episode felt very rushed, and new information that had no place being there unless there is going to be continuation for this series, was added last minute. Virtually nothing got resolved either. As a standalone I would not say this was a good series, but with so many lose ends I am very hopeful that the story will continue, and if that happens I will update my review and rating for this season.Was this review helpful to you?
To My Star Season 2: Our Untold Stories

The (rather painful) conclusion of the series
PLOT: Heartbroken, Seo Joon must deal with the unexplained disappearance of Ji Woo. After a year of searching, he finds Ji Woo having opened a restaurant (unsuccessfully) in his hometown. He will do everything he can to help him, understand him, and win him back. He clashes with Ji Woo's ex-girlfriend, who left him five years earlier during a crisis and while traumatized.+++ I really like Son Woo Hyun as ML; his acting is very natural. Kim Kang Min plays a stoic, unemotional character.
+++ Very good overall cast.
+++ Well-crafted direction.
+++ Good OSTs.
### Painful Story: Ji Woo's behavior doesn't really make sense. Okay, he's haunted by his past, but his instinct to run away and his rejection of Seo Joon don't make sense!
### The cliché of the ex coming back to win him back years later is overused (and above all, unrealistic).
=> Thank goodness for HE, because the viewer suffers during part of the series!

+++ Très bon cast général.
+++ Réalis° bien maitrisée
+++ Bons OSTs

Actress always depressed, very annoying
I never write reviews but I think this time is necessary. I really liked the beginning, acting was solid, storyline as well. Looking back now I can fully confirm that the feeling I had about the female character being emotionally unstable was true. The actress doesn’t help, always with the sad and depressing face, nothing new to add to the series, always the same miserable look, like she has in all of the dramas I’ve seen her in. Giving it this score of 10 because he is an amazing actor and he saved part of the series, otherwise, because of her, it would’ve been a 2 out of 10 for me. About the story: because the female character is mentally unstable (ranging from depressing to miserable) she is dragging him with her. He, besides of the hardships he’s facing, he’s trying to get his life in order and have a bit positive attitude when he doesn’t even have a reason to be positive. After breaking him, she follows him like a stalker until he talks to her and lets his guard down again, only for her to break him all over again. This is what we call these narcissistic selfish people, that will drag everyone with them and profit from love they can’t even give themselves. If the actress was different, I think it could’ve been a nice storyWas this review helpful to you?
Love Cell Magic Beat My Disappointment
As the webtoon fan, who read Yumi's Cells while it was still on going over a decade ago, riding through roller coaster of emotions together with Yumi, I had bittersweet feeling. As I finished this season, I still wonder to this second why they gave Yumi's end game the shortest season- even down to steal most of Sunrok's chapters for previous season? Why they couldn't stay true to the og material like season 1? I have many disappointment but also, it is as much as my pleasure and joy watching this season! :)This season gave me that magical feeling of falling in love again, from being timid, shy, gazing at the crush in silence, and eavesdrop him talking. The never ending doubt, those "maybe" feeling, they made me giggling. I love watching Yumi in love and I get nervous along with her, it is silly yet exciting. The transition between real life and village animation is so smooth and the cells of course are really funny and truly the main stars "Yumi's Cells!". Props to Kim Goeun for her beautiful acting too!
There is a big change in drama where they made Yumi much older than ML but it doesn't matter as his mature character plays a part. When a fight nearly breaks out due to a misunderstanding, he doesn't act emotionally but explain it precisely without room for misinterpretation, and even if it was a misunderstanding, he apologize, and accepting those words just as they are. I like how this season capture how important emotional maturity is. They also show us how significant it is being in a stable career and having stable income, love how big it plays a part in all Yumi's seasons. These small messages that made relationship as real as it is!
This season is fire. Storytelling, direction, down to animation everything has been perfect. But, it is not enough and I think they have done final season dirty for giving us 8 episodes. I still can't comprehend the decision, aside the stolen chapters, we can see they can write new plots- but they decided not to? they also cut more of Sunrok chapters - dating bits and isabelle arc which is important for yumi's career. I love it so much they managed to give us new twist surprise and hate it so much they didn't give us more. I feel empty writing this, like I can't believe we won't get to see more of Yumi's Cells anymore. There is a lot "what if" moment for me while watching this, if only we get more times to meet Yumi and watch more of her life.

Simple, Sweet One
It is a relaxing and enjoyable drama to watch. The story feels light, fun, and comforting, with no real villain or stressful conflict, which makes it easy to enjoy. It’s the kind of drama that can make you smile and feel happy after every episode.The actors are all so cute and charming, and their chemistry makes the drama even better. Their expressions and acting bring a lot of warmth to the story. The animation of the cells is also creative and funny, adding extra humor and making the drama unique.
Overall, Yumi’s Cells S3 is a fun and heartwarming drama that’s perfect if you want something entertaining, sweet, and stress-free. I really enjoyed watching it.
