A cute and healing series with two great leads.
PLOT: HaRan, head designer at a major fashion brand, has been living in a kind of "winter" since the death of her boyfriend seven years earlier. She meets Chan, a project manager and character designer at a large animation US company, for a project. He seems very sociable and cheerful (but he hides his wounds and traumas). He does everything he can to help HaRan overcome her depression, with infinite patience (and a lot of love).+++ Chae Jong Hyeop and Lee Sung Kyung: handsome, talented, and moving, with great chemistry.
+++ The actors are all convincing, endearing, and very human. I particularly love the couple Lee Mi Sook and Kang Suk Woo (mature couples are rarely developed in dramas).
+++ Effective direction that maintains the mystery until the very end.
+++ Coherent story (or almost, it's Dramaland after all ;)
+++ Korean OSTs -> OK
But why, why, why?
### The FL's idiotic (stupid? inconsistent with the character) attitude in episode 11: Why do FLs have to be purely selfish and self-centered? Why this refusal to listen and understand?
> Curse of episode 11?
> A desire to insert a break-up ? misogyny by the screenwriters?

Where Humor Meets Palace Intrigue
I didn’t expect to come away from this drama with such a strong impression, but I have to admit - it’s excellent! I’m very pleasantly surprised by how much it held my attention. It is an easy and enjoyable watch, even though it includes dramatic moments and unexpected plot twists. I’m not a fan of overly exaggerated comedy, but here the amount of humor is just right - enough to make you laugh and keep you wanting to watch more. The ML is wonderful and does an outstanding job portraying a "mad, tyrannical emperor". The FL is surprisingly interesting, and the supporting characters are vivid and memorable. Altogether, it creates a charming story with remarkable depth. Was this review helpful to you?
My heart still cry for those kids
I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a movie that has left such a lingering impact on me as this one did. Even though I watched it several years ago, the haunting images and emotions linger in my mind, and every few weeks, those children resurface in my thoughts.I vividly recall the wave of sickness that washed over me as the credits rolled. The unsettling atmosphere lingered long after the film ended, and when I uncovered the true story that inspired the movie, it felt even more heart-wrenching than the fiction portrayed on screen. I found myself in tears, overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation, and I spent countless hours scouring the internet for articles, desperately searching for any information that might offer some reassurance about the well-being of those kids. My curiosity even led me to dig Google Japan for updates, as the story seemed to sink deeper into my soul, leaving me flat-out devastated.
This narrative is incredibly difficult to absorb, yet I firmly believe it’s one of those films that everyone needs to experience, no matter how challenging it may be, in order to bring understanding and awareness of the harsh realities it depicts. Just the thought of this film brings tears to my eyes, the entire time I was watching, I wished I could leap through the screen, wrap my arms around those children, and save them from their tragic fate.
I genuinely don’t think a simple box of tissues would be enough while watching this story; it’s the kind of experience that scars itself into your memory, casting a shadow that lingers long after the viewing. It will forever occupy a space in my mind, and I suspect it will do the same for anyone brave enough to watch it

The Clues Made Sense, The Choices Didn’t
Five years after the haunting “8/17 Case” went cold, Sunsets Secrets Regrets wastes no time pulling us back into the shadows. New evidence surfaces by the Tong River, and with it comes Zhou Jin, a determined investigator carrying both duty and grief, and Professor Jiang Han Sheng, a criminal psychology expert who looks like he walked straight out of an academic daydream in his collared shirts and glasses. Alongside them, though often from a distance, is Jiang Cheng, the undercover officer who has spent years buried deep within the criminal world. What begins as a fragmented puzzle slowly reveals a larger, more intricate picture involving the elusive Old Scorpion and a network of buried truths.I would be lying if I said the beginning was easy to follow. The early episodes feel like flipping through scattered case files without tabs, leaving you slightly disoriented and struggling to connect the dots. It is not until around episodes eight to ten that the narrative finally clicks into place. Suddenly, everything starts to make sense. The cases intertwine, the history gains weight, and the mystery becomes genuinely gripping. From there, the drama finds its rhythm, though not without some bumps along the way. The investigations themselves are a mixed bag. At their best, they are sharp and exhilarating, driven by clever psychological analysis that makes you feel like you are solving the case alongside the characters. At their weakest, they drag, wander, and occasionally lead nowhere, testing your patience. Still, watching Han Sheng break down criminal behavior is undeniably one of the show’s highlights, and yes, the man makes profiling look stylish.
The undercover storyline, which should have been a major pillar, feels strangely detached from the main investigation. Jiang Cheng’s years of infiltration do peel back layers of the criminal organization, but when you step back, his contributions to solving the central mystery feel surprisingly minimal. The police, armed with new evidence and Han Sheng’s analysis, could have reached similar conclusions without him. His arc ends up serving less as a narrative engine and more as emotional fuel, particularly for the drama’s heavy focus on love, regret, and what could have been.
And that brings us to the romance, which is as central to the story as the crime itself. The relationship between Zhou Jin and Han Sheng is a slow burn that occasionally forgets it is supposed to simmer and instead jumps straight to boiling. Their sudden marriage, sparked by a life or death moment, feels absurd when you think about it. Agreeing to marry someone after only a handful of dates, without even remembering your shared childhood, is the kind of decision that makes you pause and go, really? Yet somehow, once the dust settles, their married life becomes one of the coziest parts of the drama. There is something almost slice of life about the way they navigate their relationship. Han Sheng, for all his intelligence, turns into a clingy, affectionate partner who just wants to be close to her, while Zhou Jin slowly learns how to open her heart. Their quiet domestic moments, filled with hugs and soft interactions, feel like warm sunsets after long, chaotic days.
Of course, the sweetness comes with its own layer of unease. Han Sheng’s long standing habit of silently watching over Zhou Jin, both as a child and as an adult, sits in a gray area between devotion and creepiness. It is framed as concern, especially given the danger surrounding her, but if you think too hard about it, it does raise questions. Even more puzzling is how Zhou Jin, as a trained police officer, remains largely oblivious to this behavior. Logic occasionally takes a backseat here, but if you are willing to let it slide, their chemistry makes it easier to accept.
The love triangle adds another layer of complexity, though not always for the better. Jiang Cheng’s reappearance brings tension and emotional weight, especially as his past with Zhou Jin resurfaces. At first, his jealousy and internal conflict are compelling, even a little addictive to watch. But as his story unfolds, the character becomes increasingly frustrating. He is both consistent and inconsistent in a very human way, having pushed Zhou Jin away in the past only to later reveal lingering feelings at the worst possible time. His actions blur the line between self sacrifice and self sabotage. While his pain is undeniable, much of it stems from his own choices, which makes it harder to fully sympathize. Over time, what started as an engaging dynamic turns into a cycle of regret that feels repetitive. Still, there is something satisfying about the eventual resolution, with Zhou Jin choosing Han Sheng and Jiang Cheng stepping back, finally accepting his place in her life.
The cast does a lot of heavy lifting in making these characters work. Jing Bo Ran brings a charming balance to Jiang Han Sheng, blending intelligence, awkwardness, and emotional vulnerability into a character that could have easily come off as overbearing. Instead, he feels oddly endearing, even when his traits lean toward possessive. Cai Wen Jing delivers a decent performance as Zhou Jin, capturing her inner conflict, though the character itself can be frustratingly naive and inconsistent. Meanwhile, Qin Jun Jie makes Jiang Cheng far more compelling than the writing allows. His portrayal, especially during the undercover segments, adds depth to a character that might have otherwise faded into the background.
Unfortunately, the ending does not quite stick the landing. After a strong and engaging middle, the final stretch feels rushed and oddly underwhelming. Key confrontations lack emotional impact, and certain scenes border on the absurd. The rooftop sequence, in particular, feels like it belongs in a different drama altogether, with its questionable logic and diminished stakes. What should have been a tense, high risk moment ends up feeling strangely hollow. The resolution of key characters, including Qi Yan and Jiang Cheng, is left ambiguous in a way that feels less like intentional mystery and more like unfinished business.
Despite its flaws, Sunsets Secrets Regrets remains an enjoyable watch. It is a drama of contrasts, confusing at the start, gripping in the middle, and uneven at the end. While it may not rank among the best in the crime thriller genre, it offers enough intrigue, emotional depth, and character driven moments to keep you invested. Think of it as a sunset that is not perfectly framed, a little hazy at the edges, but still beautiful enough to make you stop and watch until the very end.

This show bring so much nostalgic
This show bring so much nostalgic. At the first place i was get so bored, like the plot is so slow, but as the time passed it gets funnier and worth the time. I love every single characters got their own way to tell, how they were so close and love each other. Every single character was described so well, and I could immediately have an imagine of how they trough their own path.
But what impressed me a lot was how the plot is going so mysteriously, I didnt watch a lot of dramas yet, but every dramas I watch had a very guess able plots but this series wasnt, the plot was so perfect and make you feels like you′re also in that situation with them, together. Talking abt together, theyre really look like very caring neighbourhood, not judt acting but actual neighbour and friends in real life. The chemistry was top tier.
The sadness, comedy and happiness well sent to my eyes because i fall so deep to the plot. when its ending, i cried so badly. I know this wasnt only me because I heard everybody who watched this also felt the same way, it feels like you were their neighbour too and when theyre moved from Ssangmung-Dong, you were leave behind, alone. Theyre gone. All growing up.

An Epic Drama That Stays in Your Heart
A beautifully written epic story and a drama that truly tugs at the heartstrings. This series is a real masterpiece when it comes to building tension and emotional intensity from one episode to the next. The experience is made even better by the strikingly handsome male cast, who are undeniably charming on screen, and by the ML’s excellent performance, especially through his body language and facial expressions. It is no surprise that this drama is breaking popularity records. It is definitely worth watching, even for viewers who are not usually fans of historical Chinese dramas. Was this review helpful to you?
Great portrayal of real issues but very slow and boring filming
Great portrayal of real issuesA little slow, I did not like how it was filmed
it was filmed like a western movie, with full face all over the screen and lots of slow suffering moments
That's why not 10 stars
The filming made it a lot more boring than it needed to be, and took away from the hectic crazy vibe of entertainment industry in real life
Dramas like Climax go to the other extreme and focus only on the most dirty Epstein moments

One sided love story
When I first started watching it, I thought I liked it. But looking back, I realize that impression came almost entirely from the cinematography, the atmosphere, and the overall aesthetic. At its core, the narrative is clearly centered around the female lead, with the male lead functioning primarily as her love interest.
The female lead is portrayed with very realistic human emotions and emotional baggage, while the male lead is treated almost like an idealized fantasy character.Because of that, their dynamic feels unbalanced, too heavy on one side and too light on the other, like an uneven scale.
When the first ghosting happens, I barely react. It feels like obvious plot convenience and at that point, I assume they’re only loosely connected. But as the flashbacks unfold, it becomes clear how emotionally close they actually were, which shifts the context.
Apparently, there’s a second ghosting. I’m not sure if that’s confirmed but I have no interest in continuing if that’s the direction it takes especially after a confession.
At that point, any remaining patience I have for the female lead would probably run out. And it’s not that I can’t appreciate flawed or emotionally complex characters. I’ve liked many problematic male or female characters before. Here she's not even problematic, just troubled. But this one just doesn’t engage me at all.
As someone who enjoys romance, I don’t mind when the man takes the lead or puts in more effort. But here, it’s not imbalance, it’s absence. There’s virtually nothing from the woman’s side. Even the slightest indication of effort, literally 1% would have changed how I feel about this story. Instead, by the end, the relationship feels entirely one-sided.
San Yang is idealized as a love interest to the point of being almost unreal, while her side is only developed as an independent character , her feelings for him remains underdeveloped.
As a character, I don’t have an issue with her. she has her own emotional weight. But in a story marketed as a romance, I couldn’t really see her as part of the romantic equation. I was willing to wait for her romantic growth but if she ends up leaving him hanging again, then the growth doesn’t really mean much. It just feels like the same cycle repeating. She passively receives his love rather than actively participating in it
Beyond the main storyline, the side plots only make things worse. They feel disconnected at best and irritating at worst. I couldn’t care less about the second couple. The grandfather’s storyline adds nothing to the central narrative. It comes across as unnecessary filler rather than meaningful expansion and the uncle and the female lead’s mother are consistently grating, adding more frustration
In the end, this is a drama that leans heavily on mood and visual appeal but aesthetics alone can’t sustain a romance. Without emotional reciprocity or narrative balance, the story feels hollow.

Love That Hits Harder Than Expected
Man in Love was honestly way better than i expected. I gave it a 10/10 bcz it was not just romance, it had pain, family emotions, regrets and those small moments that make u feel attached to the characters. The movie starts simple but slowly gets so emotional. Hwang Jung Min was so good in his role, like u can actually feel his love, loneliness and the way he changes for the girl. His character looked rough outside but inside he was soft and caring. The chemistry felt natural and not fake at all.
There were many scenes where i felt really sad but also warm at the same time. The story shows that love is not always perfect and easy. Sometimes u love someone so much but life still does not go the way u want. That is what made this movie special for me.
The ending stayed in my mind for a long time. It was painful but beautiful too. I think this is one of those movies that makes u cry quietly and then keep thinking abt it later.
For me, this movie was full of heart and emotions. One of the best romantic korean movies i have watched. 10/10 for sure.

A Chaotic and Illogical Narrative
The story is all over the place, with numerous illogical and absurd scenes. It is confusing, messy, and lacks cohesive storytelling, accompanied by strange close-up facial shots. And apparently, freezing water is the safest place in this universe, as several characters repeatedly fall into icy lakes and rivers and still manage to survive every single time.
The only thing I like about this drama is the sexy appeal of the three main leads, but I suppose I could just as well gaze at their faces in photos online, without having to sit through everything else.

This made me cry and squeal
I found this to be one of my new favourites. I haven't felt this enamoured with a drama since Guardians of the Dafang (which is my absolute favourite).ACTING
The main leads - No, EVERYONE - did a fantastic job. The ML really felt like this vengeful but also passionately in love person. The FL did well in all her emotions and she fave life to this character. And everyone else feels like a real person.
STORY
It didnt really feel like a story, it felt immersive to the point it felt real. The writers and director did a good job with the characters and the plot.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ It is so good!!!
CHARACTERS
They actually let the ML be a little creepy and unhinged!!!! It eorked really well for his character. He's passionate and wants everything. Hes a bit like a child in that way. He needs the FL to feel whole.
The FL tries to stsy by her beliefs. Her struggle feels real.
OVERALL
Loved it! I hope Zhou Yiran and Bao Shangen are in more dramas together they have great chemistry.

Someone need to call the police
There are so many things wrong with this movie, and I don't care how much they tried to make it romantic; it was just sickening! The entire relationship and everything about it was completely off, and I don't understand the obsession with these kinds of topics. The movie is an adaptation of a book, and the film adaptation is just straight up wrong. It is straight-up grooming her. Also the plot was messy, and all the flashbacks did not blend well. I also don’t understand this strange idea of turning it into a female fantasy when she was just a victim. I absolutely do not like this movie, the topic, or how everything is portrayed. It points to very wrong ideas, and even though I love the actors, this was a definite no for me.

Equally impressive is Li Landi as the female lead. She brings depth, vulnerability, and strength to her role, complementing the male lead beautifully. Their chemistry is not loud or exaggerated, but rather built on emotional understanding, mutual respect, and unspoken feelings. Together, they create a relationship that feels genuine and layered, drawing the audience deeply into their journey.
The storyline is another strong pillar of the drama. It is well-paced, with a balance of political intrigue, personal sacrifice, and emotional conflict. The plot does not rely on clichés but instead develops its characters thoughtfully, allowing their motivations and growth to unfold naturally. The themes of loyalty, duty, and love are woven together in a way that feels both realistic and impactful.
Overall, this drama stands out for its refined storytelling and powerful performances. It is a reminder that true chemistry and meaningful love can be conveyed through depth, restraint, and sincerity rather than overt displays of affection. A truly memorable watch.

Enough to keep you satiated
This series is good if you are looking to watch something that is short enough but has substance to keep you engaged. There were some reviews that highlighted where flashbacks can get choppy when integrated with the timeline but I think if the production worked on the colouring a bit more consistently when flashbacks occurred it would make the viewing experience a bit easier but I also understood they used it to set the mood of the memory itself. Some flashbacks had years written but mainly for moments which were considered milestones in their relationship growth from the past 7 years.Ep 7 is when things really start to tie to one another and you can see when Ha Neul accepts his current reality and moves forward from his situation. Sae Byeok is your Grade A yearner but with these type of characters their overprotection tends bring harm to the relationship due to leaving their partner in the dark of things. Up until mid way of the plot I had assumed SB had actually done something really wrong which led to his hesitance in unveiling more towards HN but his crime was just loving too much.
Their chemistry, well, I was well fed for a series of this amount of episodes.
Lee Ja Woon's acting did fall a bit flat in the facial expression but his expression in his voice did make up for it. I believe they have the potential to go further.
