This movie was really good and honestly had a pretty unique aspect on how the virus came to be. I liked how things played out and how characters all fought to survive. I even felt bad for the bad guy, since all he wanted was his wife. Overall, it was really good movie, and I would love to see a second one, but I can also see how it has ended. Though I do think the ending kind of sets up for a part 2.

I watched this movie while working and it was really good; there were a lot of sad moments that made me want to cry. I also liked how real in certain aspects it was such as how society was and how greedy people are. Overall, it was a really good movie, and I would defiantly watch again. My only complete is that while the ending was good, I did feel like it dragged but I get it we need a dramatic scene. Also, there was one thing that needed being completely useless, but I guess it makes life realistic and not all things always go according to plan.

Couldn't live up to initial hype with uneven pacing and a crash & burn ending

Subjective Gut Rating: 7.75

“Pursuit of Jade” was all the hype when it was first aired. The Feeds couldn’t get enough of Zhang Ling He (of course) and also praised how much they love the female lead, Fan Chang Yu (played by the adorable Tian Xi Wei). Add on a long silver haired toxic Deng Kai, it has all the ingredients to be a successful drama. But then, it somewhat crashed in the end and just could not stick the landing. “Pursuit of Jade” is not a bad drama, but the expectations were just so high that many were disappointed. I don’t always agree with the ‘highs’ but I do with the ‘lows’.

Since the title of the drama is about the pursuit of Jade, Jade I assume is the female lead. The story focuses on her journey much more so than the male lead. I guess this causes some criticisms that the male lead’s character was not fully utilized. His investigation of what happened 17 years ago gave us the initial setting of a plot that is not romance-focused. But as the story goes, his investigation becomes more of a way to help FL instead. Did he still want to find out what happened? For sure! But I think he cares more for FL than his father’s death.

Many love Fan Chang Yu (FL). She’s smart, caring, sweet, and strong both physically and mentally. She can hold her own, push back when needed, even when she’s in love or heartbroken. Yan Zheng (ML) never gets an upper hand when he’s fighting with her. He will eventually give in. She has girl power! She will fight alongside her man in battles, but not behind him. She saves his ass a few times, too. But there are certain decisions she made that I want to shake some sense into her. I was especially mad at her for her actions in the army camp. She is smart enough to know you can’t do whatever you want and not follow the rules. She’s not a careless person, but a very considerate one. Yet, time and time again, she didn’t listen. Of course, Yan Zheng is at fault as well, as he kept his identity a secret for way too long. Additionally, she said she wants to be independent, not relying on others and doesn't like others making decisions for her. Yet she did that several times to Yan Zheng and Li Huai An. She made decisions on their behalf all in the name of protecting them. I don’t think she would have appreciated them doing the same to her. She doesn’t care what others are going to gossip about her and her status, yet she would break up with Yan Zheng for his sake. This girl has a lot of double standards! Having said all that, she’s still a rare independent and strong female character.

Many also love the first 17 episodes when a lot of time is spent in the village. Those times were a great set up and introduction to most characters. It’s the time when romance blooms in a slow but natural way. The villagers are mostly likeable and even the annoying ones aren’t that bad. However, I might be one of the few that feels the happy times lasted a little long. I wanted a little more of the serious plot, e.g. investigation of what happened 17 years ago, the scheming that the silver fox is doing behind-the-scenes, or court politics. Because this didn’t happen much, the last 10 episodes felt rushed. I knew a lot was going to happen, that’s why I wanted the happy village arc to end soon. There’s a lot of business ML needs to attend to instead of hanging out in the village!

As for the actual romance, I do like the scenes of the leads together. They have good (not great) chemistry and they are both very likable. I’m glad to see ML didn’t fall into the lovesick puppy trope and forgets he is a ruthless warrior. I like that he only goes soft for her, but resumes his charisma when he’s needed. Aside from the hidden identity part, they communicate, understand each other and have a very loving and healthy, mature romance. Well, but the kiss scenes are quite disappointing. We all know Zhang Ling He can do better. I think even Tian Xi Wei kissed better in “Moonlit Reunion” with Xu Kai than in this drama. But luckily, our toxic couple comes in and saves the day. The secondary romance between Yu Qian Qian and Qui Min has so much potential. Both are great actors, have good chemistry yet the story felt very one-note. There’s not enough backstory about Qi Min’s obsession with Yu Qian Qian. Is it just because he saved her? All their scenes are the same: he’s obsessed with her, she wants to rebel and leave, rinse and repeat. I wish we got more, especially Yu Qian Qian’s backstory with what she said she came from a faraway land.

Let’s talk about the last 5 episodes and how disappointing they are. I will try to not spoil anything. This is the most childlike, unexciting and anti-climatic palace takeover I’ve seen in a big production. While the takeover is happening, on the other hand, we got some family drama/duel. Where is the sense of urgency here?? Additionally, we got dumped a lot of information/revelation about what really happened 17 years ago. Where is the foreshadowing? There’s so much time in the first half of the drama to plant more seeds, so the revelation doesn’t feel so sudden. The breadcrumbs that were shared through a couple flashbacks were not enough. It was a disappointing end to a great start of the drama.

Well, my review is getting long. So I’m going to wrap it up by saying I would only recommend this drama if you like Zhang Ling He, Tian Xi Wei, Deng Kai, Snow Kong and Yan Yi Juan (ML’s uncle). Their acting is great and they have good chemistry. But if you want a well-written and well-executed drama, I do not recommend it. I would go for “Moonit Reunion” if you like Tan Xi Wei. She’s amazing in that one, too.

I love zombie shows like no other, they are one of my favorite things to watch and this one was really good. I liked how we followed multiple groups and characters were realistic. Did it piss me off when watching, YESSS but it makes the show so much better. I also love how not everyone got along, it made things more real and how they killed off characters like no other. I hope they make another season especially after the way it ended. Lastly, I did find it funny how many BL couples where here and even though there was no romance the chemistry was still popping.

BEST ROLE OF ZHOU YE

Undeniably, this is the best role of actress Zhou Ye! I started this drama both for the cast and for its theme, convinced that she would fight it with a lioness intensity. Transmigration, well known in C-dramas, always works as well: it maintains the suspense and pushes us to ask ourselves, at every moment, how all this will end.

The drama plunges us mainly into the 80s, while making us move forward and grow, year after year, alongside the protagonists.

We follow a young woman who finds herself transmigrated into the body of a poor 18-year-old girl. Despite this situation, she refuses to let herself be brought down and decides to take advantage of this new life, whatever the reason, while waiting to find a way out. Faced with many injustices, she has no choice but to shake things up and restore order, both in her own life and in that of her loved ones - or even strangers. With her knowledge of the modern world, she builds a real shell and imposes herself in commerce, brilliant among men in a harsh universe where women have little space.

I particularly admired her courage and determination: she always adopts the right attitude in the face of trials. And in addition, his outfits fit him wonderfully! (It almost looks like ZHOU YE was born for that time!)

On the romance side, it's really the stum! What chemistry with his co-actor! I found it absolutely unique and precious that they do not leave a sole, from the first to the very last episode. Frankly, in which drama do we see such a constant relationship?

Without clichés or unnecessary misunderstandings, their story is of a rare fluidity and sincerity - almost idyllic. And what about the male lead / husband? He too is simply perfect: strong, seductive, attentive, understanding, always there to support her... In short, there would be so much to say about him!

Together, they form a truly ideal couple.

I found this drama really special, driven by an excellent cast, a dream romance and a determined heroine who represents the female gender in the most beautiful way.

The story offers several subplots, related to the family as well as to the business world. I wouldn't say that everything fascinated me, but the two leads shine so much with their intelligence and presence that they remain, alone, the true crown of the drama.

I highly recommend this little nugget!

Ps: the end is really SUBLIME!

Even if This Love Disappears from the World Tonight: 12/20/2025

This movie made me absolutely sob my eyes out like never before. I knew the ending but that didn't make it hurt any less, in fact I think it made it hurt more. You get to see how everything plays out knowing what lies ahead and just hopping by some miracle the ending is different. It also hurt seei8ng how everyone around them was affected as well, I will always recommend this movie if you are needing a good cry.

You should watch this one

Not mind blowing but a solid entry in the sparsely populated gl space (compared to the booming bl market). I like the gl couple a lot. There were some annoying narrative problems where some characters acted, well, out of character. I dont like when the writers manipulate the story to drive certain outcomes when it makes everything seem unbelievable and ridiculous in a not fun way. There are a few of those moments in this one.

Overall it was a good watch. I have enjoyed MuTeLuv. This isn't the best installment (which for my money is Love Me If You Swear), but it's still pretty good.

Idol I: 3/24/2026 ~ 3/26/2026

This show was really good, though I know a lot of people had negative things to say. I will admit that it does kind of glorify being overly in love with an Idol, but they do address it so it's not that bad. I also love the whole murder case and was really surprised by who it was and even more shocked about how things played out. I love the redemption arcs characters were given and love how each person grew throughout the story. I also oved the romance and how quickly misunderstandings got cleared. My only complaint is that the last episode felt really rushed, I kind of wish it was longer so things could wrap up more smoothy but other than that the show was really good.

Drawn out storyline

I just watched this in 2026 and to be honest, I'm not really sure where all the rave reviews came from. The story was okay. But this really could've been done in 30 episodes or to be honest, even 20. For me, there were way too many side stories like all the scenes with her roommates lives, and the parents lives and just everyone's lives like we watch these shows for the leads and usually the second leads, but they were just way too many stories going on here.I fast-forwarded.I can't tell you how much. For me there was not enough romantic scenes between the leads when they finally got together. There were like 2 kisses and they werent even like passionate kisses or anything. I kept waiting and waiting for them to reallly seal the deal but they never did. And she really just agreed to date him so easily like i didnt see enough convincing and coaxing etc she just kinda accepted it when she had never thought of him like that before? Kinda weird. And they REALLY didn't need to add the story line about the second brother falling for her as well. That was really ridiculous and like how do you even go back to being brother and sister after you admitted that you liked her as a woman and wanted to marry her , etc , that's just freaking weird...anyway it was just okay but way too drawn out. Wouldnt bother with a rewatch and wish i could have my 40 hours back 🤣

Great series

As a mini series it was a great series, the actors did a great job acting was good and the story line was great too, a love so beautiful it aches, the ending could be a bit more precise but it's oky since it was a cliff hanger but the whole plot and the sacrifice for the he loves is aching...and the emotions feels real in some scenes.. overall it's great

Re/Member: The Last Night: 3/28/2026

Usually, I don't like sequel movies because they usually drag it out, but this worked really well. It made sense why it was needed given the cliffhanger from the first movie; it also built upon the story in a really good way. I also love the romance and how dedicated they are to each other. The plot twist was also really good and kept me on my toes this whole movie. Lastly, I can't way for the next movie as there was another cliffhanger and see what happens.

Only watch if you like murder and mystery cases

Do not go into this expecting a love story. While I was excited to see Bai Lu and Wang Xing Yue finally paired as the main couple, their relationship feels more like a partnership than a romantic one. The drama leans heavily into mystery, focusing on the female lead’s quest to uncover the truth behind her family’s murder years ago.

As a detective, she works through multiple cases along the way—some of which tie back to her personal story. About halfway through, I found myself blaming the emperor for a lot of the chaos, especially decisions involving the concubine and the musician who was so close to completing her tenure.

Although Unveiled Jade isn’t romance-heavy, it’s a solid pick if you enjoy detective and mystery dramas. It actually reminded me a lot of The Coroner’s Diary with its steady stream of cases. This isn’t usually my type of show—I started it for the cast—but I stayed for the storyline. For the first time in a while, I found myself genuinely invested, often wondering what I would do in the female lead’s situation.

The show also explores how the pursuit of truth can go too far—like opening a box that was never meant to be opened. At that point, it makes you question who is really to blame for everything that unfolds (and yes… the emperor still takes some of that blame), and what you would even report back to someone in power.

I’m giving it a 7.5/10 because it kept me hooked for most of the series. However, the final stretch lost some of its impact and I kept questioning how long is it going to take for her to take her revenge? The last four episodes was a waste of time.

THE BEST DRAMA OF 2025!!!

I would say, They would have kept the original title "Esquire" instead of "Beyond the bar". Never mind story, acting and the chemistry matters the most✌️.

First of all I wanna talk about "Lee Jin-wook". THE ACTOR HE IS!! I grown up watching his dramas since 2015. Watched almost all of his dramas. His acting is peaks and most of acting comes from his eyes. Like he smile through his eyes, do the romance through his eyes, he does everything with those eyes. And not every k-actor has such eyes. He's got soo much depth in his eyes. Coming to the acting?? He never disappointed me since "Nine time travels". That’s something he’s always been good at, whether it’s in Sweet Home, Bulgasal, or Voice 2 & 3. He adapts to every role so smoothly, and you can see the difference in each character he plays. His screen presence is strong but never forced, and that’s what makes him so captivating to watch. He doesn’t just act he makes you believe in the character completely.

Secondly, Jung Chae-Yeon. Honestly, her acting in "Family by choice" was not to the point but here in the "Beyond the bar" she aced it. she improved a lot and that surprised me. Ngl, hyeri wouldn't have done this better than chae-yeon. Everything happens for a reason.

Chemistry - To be honest, I honestly, doubted Lee Jin-wook and Chae Yeon as a pair. I wondered if they would be able to deliver the chemistry. And we all know how people are crazy about them right now(including me). Importantly, the age gap between them never feels noticeable in the way their relationship is portrayed. The narrative doesn’t emphasize it or make it a point of tension at all.

I am honestly pissed off people who made a fuss about their age gap and the romance. Damn...the 16 years age gap and 11yrs gap in drama is way very common in the entertainment industry. I understand those are the words for haters and doesn't make any sense. In the other countries I've seen young actresses acting with actors with 20 to 30yrs age gap. As long as both the leads are adults and if they are comfortable, there should not be a problem at all.

OST - When Hyo-min asked Seok-hoon - "what is love" and when he responded saying "Love is - .....". The OST "you make me home..." is still echoing in my ears. One of my favourite OST's with a perfect meaning.

I liked second leads, their roles and their chemistry soo much. Jin-woo and Min-jeong set an example to hyo-min and seok-hoon that age gap doesn't matter at all. Lee Hak-joo’s character has this calm, slightly playful vibe, while Jeon Hye-bin’s character comes across as confident, sharp, and expressive. When they interact, there’s a nice balance between teasing and sincerity. Their conversations don’t feel overly dramatic instead, they flow in a way that feels real and easy to watch.

In the drama, each episode’s legal cases aren’t just there for courtroom drama they’re used to reflect real-life situations that people can actually relate to. The stories often revolve around everyday conflicts like workplace issues, contracts, personal disputes, and moral dilemmas, rather than overly sensational or unrealistic crimes.

Episode - 4 : The most rewatched episode for me. The moment he punches the father who abused the child feels like a breaking point rather than something planned. It comes out of pure emotion, like he just couldn’t hold it in anymore after seeing the situation. What makes it powerful is that it doesn’t look like a “hero moment,” but more like a very human reaction to something deeply wrong. His bond with the child is shown in a quiet and natural way. He doesn’t suddenly become overly emotional or dramatic. You can feel that he genuinely empathizes with the child and wants to protect them, even without saying much. I will watch this episode for million times.

The story of Ex - Yoon Seok-hoon’s ex in the drama is portrayed in a way that clearly shows she made wrong choices in how she handled the relationship. Instead of communicating honestly and taking responsibility, her actions come across as self-centered and inconsiderate of his feelings. She seems to prioritize her own convenience and decisions without really thinking about the emotional impact it would have on him.she is written in a way that highlights her as someone who didn’t value the relationship properly, and her choices clearly paint her in a negative light compared to Seok-hoon’s more composed and sincere approach.

Overall, Beyond the Bar stands out as one of the most compelling dramas in recent times, with its thoughtful storytelling, strong performances, and realistic portrayal of legal and human relationships.

It truly feels like a production that deserves recognition, and it would be well deserving of a Baeksang Award for Lee Jin-wook’s performance, the direction, and the drama as a whole.

Nice

I dropped in on this drama on a whim, not really expecting much. So far, it's better than expected.

First and foremost is the outdoor cinematography. I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful area.

Surprised by how many actors I already knew. Pleased to have found new ones to follow.

However, can anyone tell me why it's so difficult to find who plays Aiyixia? Forty-five minutes online searching and all I can find are very few entries and only in Chinese.

I only played this movie because it was free on YouTube and I was bored. Honestly, it's a decently good movie and was really interesting to watch if you ignore the whole body shamming thing. Though you can't really because that is the whole plot. I do got to give the points though for not having the FL end up with the ML but instead letting her grow on her which I guess is good. I also I like how she owns up to everything she had done and becomes truer to herself.
