Captivating Drama

I started watching this drama because I was bored and decided to watch Ep 1 but it pulled me to watch complete all released episodes.
I really loved episodes in Lin An - They looked like the sweet of beginnings - with the simple life and people of the village although there was some mean people there,
My problems start when the royal court had a bigger space in the drama, because it was very complicated with complicated characters than any historical drama I watched, espcially what happened 17 years ago it's very complicated and I couldn't understand anything, when there was new things in this to say, I beacame more lost.
also the characters I can't understand what evil things that everyone did and what the people think of them in the end (espcially Prime Minister and that old cunning man from Li family).
Also I couldn't understand what ML did, when he cut the ear of the royal servant and the massacre that they talked about it in the beginning of the drama.
I think that ZLH was different in this drama (It's the first drama I watched for him), I tried watching first ep of Story of Kunning Palace before, but I felt him a hateful person there.
The ending was really beautiful, but I wanted to see a scene for Qi Shu with Gongsun Yin in the ending.
For the plot I can't say anything, when I start watching a drama I throw logic things and leave the wind make me go as it like, and don't think of events that occur, just enjoy.
I think that I lost some political events because I watched the drama without focusing carefully.
The Rewatch Value is 1.0 because I never rewatch a drama, only if I missed the drama and characters hardly I can watch some scenes or episodes again.

After dismissing what I said while watching and only enjoyed this drama, It is one of my favorite historical Cdramas for this year.

Acting of all actress and actors are amazing but drama's story line is predictable

I decided to watch this drama because of all the hyped I saw on social media like X and Instagram. After watching it, I found it quite funny, similar to other time travel dramas. What sets it apart, though, is the female lead's stunning visuals she is truly captivating. The male lead’s acting is also equally impressive.

While the plot is somewhat predictable given the time travel trope, the standout for me is definitely the acting. From the silly and comedic moments to the serious and heartbreaking scenes, every actor in this drama delivered a fantastic performance.

Interestingly, the drama didn't need heavy promotion because it was already popular as a donghua and a short drama. Both Wang Churan and Cheng Lei have received high praise from donghua fans for their portrayals. It’s a solid watch for anyone who appreciates great acting and beautiful cinematography.

this show will make you cry big time, but it’s all worth it!

i love the acting, and how real everything feels while you watch it. i love the main leads relationship especially, and the way that they have both healed each other and been the sun to the others moon while the female lead doesn’t know is so beautiful. thsi is a show i fear i will never get bored of, and so far i haven’t watched a single boring episode! the second and third lead couple are also adorable: i especially love the relationship between the youngest sister and her boyfriend! hes such a green flag, and shes even greener! overall, this drama has its own way of making you cry, laugh, smile, and cringe all in one, and that’s something that i love to see in a kdrama!

Hidden Gem Drama, that make you want to rewatch this

This drama is like a hidden gem. In the early episodes, you might feel a bit confusedlike, 'Wait, what is this?'
because the female lead has lost her memory and is acting purely on the belief that she’s a devoted wife. Even though she’s unsure, Liu Miantang’s sincerity in being a good wife is so touching; that’s where I started to really sympathize with her. The male lead’s silly antics and his growing care for her also add a beautiful touch to the story.

It’s not too heavy, making it perfect for romance lovers who want something light. Liu Miantang’s resilience and independence are the main attractions here. Even after her memory returns, she stands firm in her beliefs, which is amazing she’s truly an independent woman. Since the drama is very female-centric, the male lead’s role felt just right.

The scene that touched me the most was when Zhang Wanyi wrote the divorce papers it actually broke my heart! His wife was so sincere, yet he divorced her without a clear or logical explanation. And when Liu Miantang said, "You are my husband; if you die in battle, I will bring your body back no matter how far I have to go" I felt so much pain for her because her husband wasn't considering her feelings at all.

I’ve already rewatched this three times. It’s definitely the kind of drama I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m bored.

Atleast better than 1st season

This season was actually better than the first season as it did not ragebaited me that much as the first.
Here Uehera has a bit of character development and finally values Nao now, but Nao character is really of no confidence actually which is kinda irritating and also the clumsiness of her and some mindless things she does is kinda cringe.
in this drama as they are having more wider world now meeting new people, they both were insecure about each other... THE COMMUNICATION WAS SOO OFF AND IT LED TO MANY MISUNDERSTANDING,which were soo unecessary, and actually Nao was totally soo better with natsume, I really loved that character and he totally deserved to be with Nao, but no nao always saw Uehera only even though how shitty he treated her was a bit of much to me, so overall it's a drama which might just boil your blood.

This drama was a total ragebait to me

This drama was actually a total ragebait to me, like Okay the storyline is cute living together stuff and falling in love is so butterfly giving BUT i totally did not like how Uhera treated her and his cold behaviour, and Nao felt like a total dumbhead sometimes, ofcourse she was in love but see the red flags atleast, Diachi who is a total green flag and definitely would treat her right got rejected, I mean he was a side character so okay but Atleast the main character should have turned soft towards her, till the end she was just going on with the toxic relationship, still he showed just minute of interest and it was clearly shown who loved whom more! which is totally wrong for a relationship, He should have value her more!!

A drama about humanity, reality, and love

Honest Review
I watch this after what How dare you because of wang churan
I was honestly shocked to known about the gossips that surrounded this drama when it aired in China. I’m not even a fan of the lead actors, Yang Yang and Wang Churan, but finishing this drama completely exceeded my expectations. It was incredibly good.

I personally don’t like dramas that focus too much on romance, and I love how this one didn’t let the romance overshadow the main storyline about firefighters. Some scenes were so touching that they actually made me tear up. I feel like many people misunderstood Xu Qin’s character. The actress did an amazing job portraying someone who is fearful, slightly antisocial, and traumatized by the loss of her parents. She was manipulated by her adoptive family especially her mother and even her brother, Meng Chan, who deceived and took advantage of her innocence.

As for Song Yan, his character is almost too perfect loyal and resilient. Both of them were victims of the people around them. I truly understood their love story because it felt so relatable to my own life. That’s why the negative reviews and issues in China confused me. If people are criticizing the scene with the fire extinguisher or the running tap water during the kiss scenes, it feels like forced hatred. Other dramas have done much worse. I’ve read that the low Douban ratings were influenced by issues outside of the script or the acting.

Both Wang Churan and Yang Yang clearly worked very hard. For me, Episode 10 was the most memorable; when Xu Qin finally spoke her heart to Song Yan, and when Xu Qin tried to save SONG YAN and said "HE IS MY LIFE" I almost cried. Her feelings were so valid. Another favorite was when Song Yan waited to meet her parents; it showed his sincerity and loyalty despite how much her family had hurt him.

The scenes involving fires, earthquakes, and floods were extraordinary and felt very realistic. It’s a shame this isn't more appreciated, especially knowing how hard the crew worked and that people were injured during filming. I wish there weren't so many haters. This has officially become one of my top 3 Chinese dramas.

Better than Season 1 for me, but still not great

Things I adored

1 The panel once again was hilarious. I think this is the best panel from all I've seen, and each one has it's own sense of humor, whilst they seem to get along fine and that makes it even more enjoyable.

Things I liked

1 Some contestants were adorable and I loved them. I was ruling for some of the couple, although I know they will never last and I'm always right. It's clear that these aren't couples made in future, but it's still nice to see them pretend they found their soulmate.

Things I disliked

1 Of course some contestants and their stupid attitude. Sometimes I wonder if they are stupid or just pretend for the camera. They choose a person and never change like it's something written in stone. It's a fricking dating show and honestly you know that you will last probably two hours after the show is wrapped up, so at least have fun.

Things I hated

1 The 3 guys one woman again. What's wrong with the production? If the show isn't that scripted, because there is some part that is, no doubt, you can't make me believe that this woman had three men and the most handsome fighting over her. Please be real. No suspense with this focus on one woman and I hate that. I may not having hated Seul Ki as much as Jia from the first season but she still was so annoying and not believable at all that with so many other beautiful women out there everyone would hover over her. Stupid and the 6.5 is for the panel and some other contestants like Min Soo and Jo Yoong Jae, even though I'm sure none of the couples lasted. So another failure but not as big as the 1st Season. Netflix at its worst.

This drama actually was very calm and a nice light themed.
Already my life was going hectic and while watching this it was soo calm and made me just live in that moment slow and nice forgetting the hectic life for a moment. There aren't major plot twists, just a guy and a girl trynna work out their relationship from all odds, growing in their career together, and just pure love which I liked very much.
the cinematography of this drama was soo good, perfect mix of soft and calm theme.
If you want a drama to slow down your life for a moment and experience cute love, this drama suits

The grandmother, in fact, does die, but she gives you a lot to think about before she leaves.

I'm going to be thinking about this movie for a very long time. I don't know how to describe how wonderfully it was made. It was what I would call a slow film, but I did not feel bored for even half a second. It was very gripping, very gripping. It just had control of me the whole time. And it was such a cool movie. I don't even know how to explain it. You're watching people at its core. There's no like storyline, oh, this is what happens next after that. No, it's just people's normal lives. This is what happens. This is actuality. This is reality. I don't know what I'm saying, but it really, really made me feel so much.

You go into this film knowing that the main character, the grandson, will look after his grandma for the sole purpose of earning money or, you know, getting whatever she basically inherits all her stuff. And that is the premise of the movie, and we all know that, oh, he's gonna really love her, and then it's gonna be sad and depressing. That is the whole movie, but it is so much deeper than that. And we know it is deeper than that. We go in knowing that it is supposed to be deep, and it really is deep. I was just randomly sending a video to my friends, and the context was, spoiler for this movie is, the grandma actually does die at the end. That's the spoiler I gave them because I don't know how else I can explain it. This was a whole journey from, I don't know, it was that good. It was, it made me feel so much, and it made me feel just deep to my core, a feeling that I haven't felt in such a long time. I haven't been moved by a movie in such a long time, and I really applaud the fact that the director was able to do this without adding some huge fight or drama. No, the director just showed the daily reality of people. This is how life is, and this is how life will be.

Another thing I really, really loved about this movie was that it was a great story, and sometimes a great story does not need a huge plotline. There were no villains, there was no great drama, there was no horrible fight. The best part of this movie was that you really got to see the movie at its core, and what it's showing is that the world isn't black and white. You would think that the grandson is some spoiled, imbecilic child. I don't know. And he really is at the beginning, and the whole concept is that, oh, he gets better and he goes from bad to good, but that's not it, is it? He was always good, and he made some poor decisions, but at the end of the day, he was a good person. He is a good person, and he loved his grandmother. That is a core fact. We can go through these types of feelings with every single character, and I love that. I genuinely do.

Starting with Mui, M's cousin. At first, I thought she would be an example for M and tell him off for behaving that way, but she was the one who actually planted this idea in his head. But the more time you spend with this character, the more you seem to understand her. She didn't come from a place of greed or exploitation. It really rubbed me the wrong way when she said that it doesn't matter why you spend time with them, it just matters that you do. But again, she's right. You can try to make the best for yourself while also giving to others as long as you're not hurting them. And who knows, you might actually end up in a much better position than you expected. When asked if she ever dreamed of grandpa, she showed her true colours. The love she had for the man was never questioned again. Same with M.

The trio of siblings were all such interesting characters. The way that they showed love was very different from one another, and yet they still loved their mom. Sew is the only one who didn't want anything from the mom, and that's why the mom wanted to live with her the most. Sew wasn't the favourite, but Grandma felt most at home with her. There's something very beautiful and poetic about that. And Uncle Khiang. Grandma gave up beef for him. That scene of M telling him was portrayed so beautifully. It wasn't loud or had any negative feelings towards the man. He was simply reminding his uncle of what's important: his mom.

What do I even say about M? I hated him at first. But I knew he was gonna change; the whole movie depended on that fact. I teared up a lot in this movie, but the sobbing only started when I saw him cry for the first time. When grandma was at his house, he sang her the same lullaby she used to sing for him. That was the moment it really hit him that she was leaving, and nothing else mattered than the love they shared for each other. The relationship between them is very pure. Grandma didn't have favourites, of course, but he definitely had a special spot reserved way before all this Cancer stuff even happened.

One of the earlier scenes hit me very hard. It was the temple scene where he was pointing out that none of the family members had put her in their wishes. And he was doing that to get the attention back on him, yet his wish wasn't something attention-seeking. It wasn't, I hope my grandma gets better or may she live long. He simply paid attention to what she wanted and wrote that down. Maybe I'm looking too deeply into it, but that's just how I felt. Even when he got upset about not getting anything, he seemed more mad about her health than anything. Like the realisation of her dying was slowly creeping in, and this was a good reason to yell.

Lastly, probably a crowd favourite, I will buy you a new house. The amount of pain and love this particular scene made me feel is impossible to describe in words. It really shows you how pure a child's love is. His grandma told him, I am going to be saving money for you until I die. And his response was, Oh, I hope you save this much money so that I can have this much money. And his grandma was like, Oh, you want me to die? And he's like, I just want the money so that I can buy you a new house. His whole thought process was that, Oh, I'm going to be getting money. What do I do with this money? Give my grandma a new house. Can love be purer than this? This is my favourite scene in the movie. What can I say? I am like all the other sheep out there. And cut to the scene of, "We're almost at the big plot I bought you". M fulfilled his promise.

I have never written a review this long for a movie, and yet this is not nearly enough for me to express my love for it. It is a beautiful movie. A beautiful story. I feel very happy. I have been waiting to watch somethig this fullfilling for a while and I'm glad it was this one.

The Cast Elevated a Convoluted Script

At the beginning, I thought this was going to be an "oops, I hit my head and now I'm in the Goryeo Dynasty," but later it seemed it was a body switch between two women: one real and one a fictional side character in a novel. Unfortunately, the story never addressed the ancient transported to the modern world, and it was treated as if she just automatically fit in with short hair (which was shameful in her era) and technology. She didn't even have a language barrier or an issue with Hangul.

The Good:
• I was grateful the 2ML wasn't part of a love triangle. One trope dodged! Once the ML and FL chose one another, their relationship was solid. No unnecessary break-ups. Second trope averted!
• I liked the message: "Revenge is for those who can't turn back." The ML was willing to turn back once he loved the FL. He wanted to offer the other prince a chance at laying down his hatred and redeeming his life.
• TFNwtD was surprisingly kissy for a K-drama. Good ones, too—not the we're-30-years-old-and-look-like-awkward-teens kind of kisses. I'm a bit old school and am not comfortable with excess screen affection, but, if it's going to be part of a drama, it should look competent.
• Do Hwa Seon was spoiled and evil. Ji Hye Won did a great job in the role. I couldn't help but like her!

The Bad:
• I can't decide if there weren't enough cutaways from the past to the future or there were too many. As it was, there weren't enough to make a coherent backstory or there were too many that intruded upon the story of the past.
• The lack of cohesion and the proliferation of confusing storylines marred a potentially good drama. K-dramas are usually masterful in blending intrigue, action, and comedy, but this was was loaded with the comedy in the beginning and heavy with drama at the end; it was unbalanced.
• As is often the case, the villains were forgiven, redeemed, or their bad deeds ignored. What's a little murder or treason between friends? This trend is deadly in the real world, and it's unsatisfying in the fictional one.

I really should have given my 7.5 star rating for standard fare, but I added a half star because Ok Taec Yeon looks great in historical dress, wields a sword well, and emotes with his eyes.
