Lots of romance, with no danger

When I added this series to my list, I thought it sounded interesting. I also really liked Perth and Chimon in "Never Let Me Go," so I was excited to see a series with them as the main leads.

My main problem with this was the expectation I had. This wasn’t dangerous at all, in fact there's no real danger whatsoever. The show does depict some realistic instances of school bullying, which I suppose could be considered the "danger" mentioned in the title, but other than that, there’s no actual peril for these characters. Even the debt collectors in the story are portrayed quite gently. So, in a way, I think this series was trying to be something it was not.

The pacing was also slow, much slower than what I would even classify as slow burn.

In the end, I ended up losing interest after the characters got together, as it felt like the story didn’t develop much afterward. Kanghan makes a mistake, Sailom gets upset, and then they make up – it felt like a repetitive cycle.

In contrast, the secondary couple, Nawa and Guy, were very entertaining. I found myself scrambling to be invested so I could stay for their storyline. Because of that, I was very pleased with their happy ending.

Overall, I was somewhat disappointed with this series. But should you watch it? Sure! It’s slow but cute in some ways and can be easy to enjoy if you don’t scrutinise the details too closely. If that’s your style, go for it!

The three musketeers – part 2

I don't really understand the point of dividing this into two parts; one whole season would have sufficed. It's important to watch the first part before diving into this one, as you won't understand the context otherwise. Hopefully, there are places available where you can watch it in one-go!

That said, I really enjoyed Part 2! The action picked up significantly, and the fighting scenes were particularly exciting to see. Although the revelations were somewhat predictable, they still made me gasp and kept me engaged throughout.

As for the ending, I appreciated what they did with it. There’s real value in ending a story openly, as it’s what’s best for the characters. This was the best possible ending for Van and the remaining musketeers, even if it made me sad.

The three musketeers

This is a well-paced supernatural drama about an arrogant rich girl who is sent to Jeju Island as punishment by her father after she makes a public mistake. On the island, she meets a strong protector who helps keep it safe from monsters and a priest who is there to help purify the land.

Kim Nam Gil does a wonderful job portraying Van, capturing his blankness while also making him somewhat empathetic. Won Mi Ho, played by Lee Da Hee, strikes a perfect balance of entitlement and annoyance while still showcasing redeeming qualities. As for Cha Eun Woo, he is great as always! His character, the priest Kang Chan Hyuk, brings a lively and slightly mischievous energy to the story.

I do feel that the action drags a bit towards the end of Part 1, so I'm curious to see how that changes in Part 2. I also have more questions than answers at this point, which piques my interest.

So, overall, I think this drama is quite promising!

Childhood friends turned lovers

This was such a lovable and wholesome drama. The holy trinity – Choi Seung Hyo, Bae Seok Ryu, and Jung Mo Eum – were a joy to watch.

I appreciated that the story didn’t focus solely on the two main leads falling in love; it also highlighted Seok Ryu’s illness and its impact on her, as well as her relationships with her mother and friends. I enjoyed the emphasis on Seung Hyo’s job and the struggles and successes he faced. I felt that Jung Mo Eum faded a bit into the background towards the end. Still, I loved her relationship with Kang Dan Ho and his daughter; that story arc was the best!

The four mothers were also a delight to watch. I loved how the series depicted the evolution of their friendship over the years and how they have supported each other.

Overall, this is such a feel-good drama. It beautifully explores themes of family, friendship, love, and caring for those around you. The pacing is decent, the acting is solid, and the overall plot develops quite nicely. I would definitely recommend this drama!

A silly demon and his, frankly, badass wife

I enjoyed this story. I can understand why some people might feel put off by the plot development, but it seems unfair to label it as bad simply because some viewers might overlook its shortcomings in favour of the main leads’ beauty.

My Demon effectively serves its purpose as a romance drama centred around a human woman and a demon.

The plot is indeed simple: after they accidentally transfer his powers to her, he decides to stick around until they eventually fall in love. Does the story drag at times? Yes. However, it is also wholesome and beautiful, featuring some impressive effects.

To be honest, it isn't that deep. Just enjoy the visuals and the action; it's well-developed and entertaining enough to pass the time.

That ending ended me

This was a great experience. It was fun to watch, had an interesting plot with good twists, decent pacing throughout, and an amazing soundtrack to top it off.

At times, I did feel like the dramatic elements surrounding the magic were excessive. I believe the magical effects alone were enough to make it enjoyable without all the extra fuss.

That ending, though – it really hit me. I was expecting some sort of grand gesture to save the main lead, but I never predicted how they chose to bring him back. I felt incredibly sad about it, not because it was bad, but because it gave me genuine pain.

The highlight of this drama was definitely the relationship between the brothers, Lee Rang and Lee Yeon. Their story was not only well-written with complexity and depth, but the actors also brought them to life beautifully. The romance between Nam Ji A and Lee Yeon felt simultaneously strained and wholesome, which made it endearing to watch rather than it being the spotlight. Additionally, side characters like Ki Yu Ri and Koo Sin Ju added great dynamics to the story – the drama really wouldn’t be complete without them.

I felt the villain, Imugi, and his antics were somewhat ridiculous, but the way his storyline intertwined with the main leads was executed well.

The overall plot is a bit messy, but it’s easy enough to follow. You won’t miss much if you overlook certain details during the story. If you can get past these issues and enjoy the character development, then you’ll find it enjoyable. Just be warned that the ending might leave you feeling a bit bitter!

Has left me broken to pieces

Speechless. To me, this was absolutely devastating and kind of life-altering.

The acting is stellar, complemented by beautiful plotlines and scenery, culminating in the most satisfying ending. I felt both empty and incredibly fulfilled at the same time.

I loved every second of it and almost wish I could erase it from my memory just to experience it all over again from the beginning. I cried, laughed, and screamed, as I was left on the edge of my seat at the end of every episode.

Bulgasal, an impossible-to-kill creature, is a mythical immortal monster that feeds on human blood. Based on Korean folklore, this drama beautifully intertwines a mix of emotions: hate, resentment, revenge, love – both familial and romantic – and obsession.

The storyline is quite convoluted and weaves together the characters throughout, which might seem confusing until the end. That didn’t deter me; I was very invested in uncovering the origins of the Bulgasal curse, and the revelation exceeded my expectations. Although some may consider the romance aspect unnecessary, I thought it was essential to the story and wouldn’t want it to be omitted.

Lee Jin Wook and Kwon Na Ra did an amazing job, embodying their characters with depth and authenticity, which was evident to the viewers. The supporting characters were also incredible; I don’t think the drama would have been complete without them.

Given that this is a supernatural drama about a monster that eats humans, it’s important to note that it is very gory and bloody. At times, it can be painful to watch, as it depicts self-harm, death, murder, and suspenseful scenes with shocking outcomes.

Overall, I thought this was a masterpiece. While the plot can be confusing, it is well-crafted, and the conclusion effectively ties up all loose ends.

Side note --> those OSTs! Immediately added to my playlist, they were so good!

A lovely story between a boxer and an orthopaedist

The plot is quite straightforward: a boxer sustains an injury and meets a sassy yet complicated doctor. They enter a friends-with-benefits relationship, pretend to be dating, and ultimately fall in love. Nothing more, and nothing less.

The story loses some momentum around episodes 7 and 8, but it's easy to stick with because the characters have fantastic chemistry, making viewers want more of them. Inn and Great delivered outstanding performances!

Overall, I recommend this series if you're looking for romance and well-acted intimate scenes, rather than complex plotlines.

Slightly obsessed with this one

I watched this drama on a whim. I have to admit, I wasn't disappointed at all. I came across a clip of it on Instagram, which intrigued me enough to give it a try, and I’m so glad I did!

Shin Min Ah is incredible; I absolutely love her! Her acting was fantastic, and her character beautifully balanced sarcasm with seriousness, adding depth to her role. She was also genuinely funny, which made the viewing experience even better. There was so much to explore in Son Hae Yeong’s life, and I thoroughly enjoyed diving into every aspect.

I also have to be honest: I’m definitely in love with Kim Young Dae. His deadpan delivery and the way he expressed so much with just his eyes really stood out to me. There was a warm feeling every time he appeared on screen, which contributed to the romantic atmosphere of the drama. You could really feel the chemistry between the actors!

Bok Gyu Hyun and Nam Ja Yeon were such wholesome characters, too. I appreciated that they weren’t one-dimensional, even as secondary characters. And the open relationship that the sister had was a surprising twist. You don’t often see this kind of dynamic depicted in dramas, and I kind of loved it. It showcased that love can have many layers and isn’t always straightforward.

In conclusion, there’s a lot to love about this drama. It’s not perfect, and some people might have aspects they don’t enjoy, but overall, it’s definitely an enjoyable watch!

Too short

It was beautiful, the characters and actors were great, music, emotions, angst. Chemistry between the characters is amazing.
But towards the end it gets really sad. For that, i feel like it was too short. I dont like when they make shows sad and dramatic but they dont have enough episodes for a proper redemption and to showcase the characters happy. It ended kinda unfinished, if youre giving us a happy ending, i want to see them happy.

Also, i hate bs tropes like I'm going to college so I'm cutting you off and we won't see eachother for years. Like who does that? I went to college thay wasn't in my home town but you keep in touch with people and go home every couple of months and have amazing reunions (or they can visit you). That's why i dont like plot like this, it seems like lazy writting, they didnt know what problem to create. They could've (should've) build on abusive dad story and make it so he's preventing them from being together.

I'm ranting a bit but i actually liked the show, it was beautiful, just needed to see more.

The sweetest masterpiece

This deserves a full 10 stars! Let me start by saying that. It was super cute – I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time.

There’s great chemistry between the couple and the pacing of the story is well done. It addresses some really relevant subjects, such as the struggles in showbiz, obsessive fans, and the management of expectations between idols and their followers. There are also a few unexpected plot twists that I enjoyed, along with a fantastic soundtrack.

I’m really glad to have discovered Lykn through this series; these kids truly deserve all the hype they’re receiving. They’re so talented!

If you haven’t given this a try yet, please do. It’s definitely worth it.

If I could give Pursuit of Jade more than 10 I gladly would.

Although the ending was rather disappointing, it doesn't affect how good this drama was! From the very beginning it captured me. I hadn't been this hooked by a Chinese drama since long last year. But POJ had all the ingredients to capture more from the beginning. Stunning visuals, a good color scale, beautiful costumes and locations. Intense battle scenes, great character development and characters. A riveting story, class A+ acting and handsome leads. But I think what pulled me more into the world of PoJ was its Female lead. Fan Changyu has to be the best female character I've seen in a drama for a long shot. Her journey was a pleasure to watch, and I have to say that she's been the only FL that's never disappointed me. I love her growth, her strength, her spunkiness, her fire. She was just amazing from the get-go. And was masterfully played by TXW. It wouldn't surprise me if she has all the directors lined up already fighting or her.
Xie Zheng was also an amazing ML. He was threatening, caring, intimidating, sweet to CY, protective, supporting, lost his head when those he loved were in danger. He was the kind of man all of women want. Have to say Marquis was some of ZLH's finest work ever.
Even the smallest of characters in this show were so well written, none of them felt like filler and added so much to the story. I loved all the characters. Yes, even the villains, or loved to hate them so to speak, the characters were masterfully crafted by the writers.
Now onto the magic between Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei. Those two were an atomic bomb together, they had so much sexual tension that sometimes I had to look away. That's how intense their chemistry was, and one of the major reasons I was heavily drawn in. For me, if the leads don't have chemistry, it doesn't matter how good the story is, I won't watch. Pursuit of Jade really was a recipe in all the elements I love in a drama. I really hope ZLH and TXW work together again. It will be such a shame to waste chemistry like theirs.
I loved Changyu and Zhang's love story. Love how hard they fought to be together, despite the things that threatened to separate them. Adore how they were always a team even when they were at odds with each other, they were a team. They are definitely in my favorite love stories list. I'm going to miss them so much.
Now the question comes.... what do I do after Pursuit of Jade is over? I don't know but I'll surely be watching this over and over again. It really was a Jade among Chinese dramas. 100/100. I rarely found fault with it at all.
I highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't watched it yet. You'll have a great time watching!

Tian xiwei and zhang linghe ????

The Pursuit of Jade stands out as a visually captivating and emotionally rich drama, elevated greatly by the exceptional performances of Tian Xiwei and Zhang Linghe. Tian Xiwei brings an effortless charm and authenticity to her role, blending playful liveliness with deep emotional sensitivity. Her expressions feel natural and sincere, allowing viewers to connect with her character on a personal level, especially during the more intense scenes where she conveys emotion with remarkable subtlety. On the other hand, Zhang Linghe delivers a powerful and composed performance, embodying a quiet intensity that draws the audience in. His ability to express complex emotions through restrained acting, particularly through his eyes and subtle gestures, adds depth and nuance to his character. Together, their on-screen chemistry is undeniable—natural, engaging, and emotionally resonant. Their interactions, whether tender or intense, feel genuine and impactful, enhancing the overall storytelling. As a pair, they bring balance, depth, and a compelling dynamic that makes The Pursuit of Jade not just visually appealing but truly memorable.

The mellowest assassins in history

I was not prepared for this!

First with tattoos, unhinged Khao, shameless Dunk, and badass Joong. It’s overwhelming in the best way possible. On top of that, there are some really compelling story elements and amazing chemistry between characters.

Joong and Dunk stole the show with their dynamic and relationship development. The genuine emotions that Fadel and Style feel for each other are so captivating that I found myself loving their characters more than I did First and Khao's.

Kant and Bison were still interesting, though. Their instant lust transforms into love in a really wholesome way; we just have to forget how Kant gets involved with Bison after their one-night stand, which we conveniently overlook for the sake of wholesomeness!

The hitmen premise was well thought out, but I felt the plot got a bit lost in the middle. By the end, we managed to get back on track, but at that point, I was more invested in the romance than in the hitman angle.

Overall, the entire project was enjoyable, and I definitely think it's worth watching!

A depiction of comedy, complex relationships and sacrifice

RE-WATCH --->

Given that I re-watched it, I’d say this is definitely worth a watch!

Honestly, I kind of love KP. While it has its obvious issues, it’s still really good. The plot is engaging, and the acting and action’s pacing are strong.

Yes, the relationships in the show are quite toxic, and no one is safe from these problematic, dominant gangsters. However, some of them do manage to redeem themselves – Vegas, in particular. And, by the end, you find yourself tolerating Kinn because Porsche does, and it really centres around their relationship, doesn’t it? So, you don’t really have a choice.

It's not a masterpiece but ultimately, I believe the show offers a great portrayal of comedy, complex relationships, and the theme of sacrifice. It’s enjoyable!

Side note: Jeff Satur's OST, "Why Don't You Stay," is the real masterpiece of this entire project. This song tells not just the best emotional love story, but it’s also heart-wrenching given KimPorchay's story.
