The kind of drama that is always worth watching
I started this drama without any expectations, and it ended up really surprising me. I enjoyed every episode and it was a great experience overall. The way it blends different genres and makes them work together is excellent. The characters are very memorable and well developed, especially the main female group, who definitely don't play a minor role here. In fact, I loved how their friendship became something so valuable to the plot.
I'd say that Yoon Kyung's (Bokhee) character stole the show for me. If I had to mention something negative about the show it would be that the chairman character felt a bit out of place to me. I think it's because I'm used to seeing that actor play the “good guy,” so I didn't quite believe him as the villain here, which sometimes made his scenes a bit hard for me to watch. But like I said, maybe that's just me.
Anyway, this is a great drama and, in my opinion, one of the best of the year so far. I really recommend everyone give it a chance and please, let's not let the 16 episode format die.

Realistic view of teenagers discovering themselves
This is a gritty story of a group of late teenage (mainly) boys with too many hormones and not enough life experience as they crash from one bed to another leaving a trail of confusion and heartache in their wake. The story centres around 4 kids who, as part of their end of year project, decide to create a business plan and renovate an old hotel with the intention of running it together. The kids consist of Mew, an innocent, nerdy gay virgin determined not to lose his V card via a one night stand. Boston/Ton, the son of a politician, who is a complete man whore. Ray, a wealthy young man whose mother died from alcohol poisoning who seems determined to follow in her footsteps. And Cheaum a lesbian in a stable relationship who seems the only one with little or no axe to grind.
As the four of them move through the year the boys crash and burn, heal and move forward. Mew learns that changing your outer appearance and trying a relationship out of obligation doesn’t heal heartache but standing up for your principles might just get you what you want. Boston starts to develop the beginnings of a conscience as he learns that pretending to change to make someone happy is pointless and only ends up hurting that person more. Ray learns that he deserves sobriety and that unconditional support and patience can lead to a better, happier life. And Cheaum learns that being honest rather than saying what you think your loved one wants to hear makes for a better relationship. Along the way we also meet Top, Sand and Nick who all become integral to the plot and, towards the end one final character Boeing, appears who seems hellbent on making several of the other characters as miserable as he is.
At the outset of the series, Mew and Top’s roller coaster relationship seemed to be the main focus of the drama but about a third of the way through I began rooting for Ray and Sand who had a much more subtle, slow burn, sometimes dysfunctional and often toxic one.
The whole series is incredibly well acted and the various plot lines interweave brilliantly and for a plot as steamy as this I was surprised at how most of the NC scenes stopped at chest shots rather than full s*x scenes which was quite refreshing even though there was plenty of chemistry. In fact the lack of explicit action did not stop things from being totally believable.
In fact the acting and plot were so good that I became really invested and spent a lot of the time tsking, saying “No! Don’t do it!” or just wanting to slap the characters as they wove from one drama to the next but I was spell bound from the beginning and rooting for 4 of the relationships that did eventually gain solidity. That said, I was rolling my eyes at the last scene where another Boston/Boeing manwhore pitched up.
This BL is worth a look if your wanting something gritty and ugly but with honest and sometimes happy endings.
Would I watch again? Probably if I didn’t have a hundred others out there waiting for me.

A Cozy, Angst-Free Escape
If you need a break from reality or from the heavy angst this mini-drama is the perfect choice. While logic isn't always present (especially in the beginning), surprisingly, nothing about it is annoying. The characters are so charming and funny that even the most obvious plot holes evoke laughter or affection rather than irritation. The story kicks off with a double gender-bender plot. Ning Xuan Zhou, a hostage prince from the Ning State, enters an academy in the Yan State, where he meets Hua Xi Yu — a girl disguised as a man. Following the classic tropes of the genre, the FL initially mistakes the ML for a girl as well. Here’s the thing... Prince Ning doesn't look like a girl at all. He isn't a "macho" type, but he lacks those ultra-delicate features that could realistically be mistaken for feminine. It requires some suspension of disbelief; you either laugh it off or justify her selective blindness by her desperate desire to finally find a female friend to discuss dresses and hairpins with.
After the initial setup, the plot settles into a more standard but solid rhythm. Ning Xuan Zhou turns out to be the head of the Secret Guard, pursuing a noble goal: preventing a new war and uncovering the truth behind an old murder mystery. Naturally, Hua Xi Yu gets swept up in this spy-detective intrigue, which is balanced with a search for a family artifact and cute scenes of student life.
I truly appreciated the writing here. Often, mini-dramas start with high energy only to devolve into heavy moralizing or excessive pathos. This one maintains a consistent tone. While the plot twists aren't groundbreaking, the mystery is engaging enough to keep you interested until the end. A huge plus is how the romance develops: the leads fall for each other subtly and immediately move to a stage of mutual respect. They practice healthy communication, resolving problems by actually talking to each other rather than letting misunderstandings drag on for episodes.
The secondary characters are a delight. The love triangles involve Hua Xi Yu's friend and his sister, who actively participate in both the romance and the spy plots. While the sister is the typical "bratty" trope, she isn't on screen enough to be grating; in fact, she’s quite amusing.
Special credit goes to the older generation. The FL’s mother and uncle are vivid, multi-dimensional characters. The mother is wise and understanding, albeit a bit eccentric—a refreshing change from the "toxic parent" cliché. The uncle kept me guessing about his true loyalties for quite some time, and I actually found that ambiguity quite enjoyable.
The cast really delivered. Lu Yi Tong is fantastic in both roles. As a girl, she isn't coy or over-the-top; she's straightforward and naive in a charming way. As a guy, she is very convincing with her wide strides, lower voice, and protective nature. I actually found her male persona more visually appealing. Liang Xue Feng also struck a perfect balance between the "cool" head of the Secret Guard and the vulnerability of a hostage prince.
Visually, the drama is lovely. It’s not "expensive" or flashy, but it feels "homemade" and cozy. The pastel color palette and soft, warm lighting create a very comfortable atmosphere. I also appreciated that the production avoided graphic violence—torture scenes happened off-camera, which kept the light tone intact. Even the antagonist's death was handled with a certain level of aesthetic drama; it was poignant enough that it didn’t evoke a sense of malicious joy.
I also can’t help but mention that even in such a sweet and occasionally naive mini-drama, there was some room for interesting power dynamics. While it didn't lean heavily into dominance, the FL did spend some time as a blindfolded hostage, and at one point, the ML even found himself chained to a bed (though the hilariously plastic-looking shackles were a minor detail, the intent was there!).
I think I spent more time writing this review than actually watching the series! But "Flower of the Continent" is a truly sweet story. It’s rare for a mini-drama to stay so balanced without resorting to cheap shock tactics or excessive angst. It’s the perfect "healing" watch for an evening when you just want to switch off your brain and smile.

The cameos are crazy!
The cameos in this drama are crazy 😭 So many good looking people. I kind of wish we got more air time for some of them. The concept was interesting. But there are a lot of contradicting details in the story. Mainly when it comes to Jisoo's character.
It took me a while to appreciate Jisoo's acting in this drama. It felt lacking or sometimes maybe a bit too much but I guess after a few episodes, I got used to it. As for Seo In Guk, I haven't really watched any of his dramas so I don't know if his acting or his character was the problem. He just felt so flat.
I personally wish Jisoo could've ended up with someone like Eun Ho. I enjoyed that storyline the most. They had the best connection out of all of the guys she dated.

Best drama series of 2026--so far
I’m not quick to give 10 stars to just any drama. But LOVE STORY IN THE 1970S earned each and every one of them. This beautifully rendered production reminded me, once again, of what’s special about Chinese drama at its best. A well-directed, well-acted series such as this one can be heartfelt, and unpretentious in a way that Hollywood concoctions seldom are.I so appreciate the performance of the two leads, but especially Arthur Chen. What a treat to see him play a real, multi-layered character, using the total arsenal of his craft. And even nicer to see him give up filters and other visual enhancements to fully inhabit the role of Muyang Fang, a normal, good-hearted human being.
Simplicity is the secret that makes this drama a winner. No silly tantrums. No jealousy or manufactured mis-communication. Just real people trying to solve real problems in an authentically rendered historical context.
Nor is the FL drop-dead gorgeous. Instead she’s emotionally alive, radiant, and devoid of superficial flash. The actress who plays the repressed, robotic Mujing Fang is also noteworthy, communicating a world of feeling with the tiniest gesture or change of expression. And I especially enjoyed watching the hilariously clueless Ye Feng.
There’s injustice in this drama, but it’s everyday injustice that most of us have to face from time to time. Not a single narcissistic psychopath to be found.
This is the best drama of 2026–so far.

Why is no one talking about the weird ghost satlket siatuation???
Let me start with that. This ghost who has been wandering this planet for a hundred years (87) when he first meets the the FL WHO IS THIRTEEN!!! 13!!! A CHILD who he lets be put in harms way! And practally isolates her from other friends by harming them when they talk to her like bsfr!! Massive ick right there. Also the story felt draggy at thimes like whyyyy are we doing this? The whole left minister plotline could have been over by the 10th episode. Then the whole time the FL is either too late to save anything or the men play the night in shining armour! I understand that taking down a ghost who is literally the size of an entire fucking village needs teamwork, but the FL who is a baddass shaman/ghost tamer is not ONCE the centre of action? she just mostly just predicts things/tells people how to do things. Now the saving grace of the series: The king and his whole arc! How he went from not beliving in shamanism to understanding the bloodbath of his throne and everything that happend that put him there. How he greived the original yungap and and how he geneuinely cares for the populus. And the kid who played the crown prince was geneuinely cute. The dynamic between him and the Queen (Hated this arc cause this again felt repedative) just a great character. I also liked the way the actor who played him executed the character.
This shouldve been 12 episodes and no romance! skipped through that honest none of them are compatible.

What happens if you are given a second chance at life?
I loved the concept of the ML getting a second chance AND retaining all his memories. Some have said that by doing that it took out any drama. I don't agree. For me, the intrigue came by his thoughts and showing how he was going to manipulate what was supposed to happen. We were given the ML's voice over, explaining what had happened in the future. This whole thing reminded me of a game of chess - the strategy, the attack/counterattack.The acting was excellent. Ji Sung never disappoints (Why did they spell his name Ji Seong in the credits?). The rest of the cast, as well. I love the actors that played his parents, they were so comforting to watch.
What stood out most to me was the concept of "found family". He finally appreciates his parents. He reconnects with a friend that he lost in his old life. He got to know the prosecutors and the reporter. When that group was together, they were the Scooby Gang! However, once they became friends, I spend the rest of the drama hoping that one of them wouldn't get killed off. I was especially drawn to his old friend. He works in gray areas but has a heart of gold. He and the ML taking the teenager under their wings and employing her and keeping her safe was a joy to watch. I was sad to see the outcome with wife, especially since they spent so much time leading us to believe that their story could change.
The only reason I didn't rate it higher was due to the plethora of bad guys. If he was a middle-aged man in a suit, he was a bad guy. It was so hard to keep the names and faces straight.

Good acting and chemistry but flawed script and continuity
I'm gonna preface by saying I really enjoyed watching this series. I really liked the main actors, their chemistry and romance. My biggest gripe with this series is the script... I'm guessing due to the time constraints of having a 12 episodes 25 minutes runtime. Way too short for the whole story/plot. The script plot was sometimes nonsensical, defied logic and left a lot to be guessed on our own. They're filming a reality tv show with no cameras/drones around? The whole fish thing was weird and I didn't really understand what happened...Lots of parts were too rushed and cut weirdly. What saved this for me were the main actors and me really liking their chemistry and characters/story, despite the flaws I mentioned before,I still really recommend it!

Not a fluffy romance but fucking great
If we see japanese bl then don't much focus on romance. They slowly developed the character and make them. Understand each other and make them fall in love. Tbh i was so angry when i was their communication effort. Neither of them are sharing what they are feeling especially about their feeling for each other. Japanese bl is very underrated and i know japanese bl doesn't get the hype it deserves. Not everybody can love this kind of intense gay love story coz these people are obsessed with NC scene, toxicity and unnecessary drama. If u see to my shore, abo desire, bed friend, 2togethor, my stand in, big dragon, unforgotten night, top form, my stubborn and list goes are very popular but their story literally sucks. But story of j-bl are always top tier but it doesn't get the hyped like u should get. I am not talking about bl only even straight series are less popular in comparison to korean and chinese. Idk why, maybe they care about releasing j-bl in international OTT platform like Netflix, Disney, HBO, peacock. They don't even release promo in YouTube. I wish they will do more marketing so j-bl deserve hype. Maybe people doesn't care about those series where lead pair doesn't do queerbaiting fan service. If we see except japam every country are focusing on queerbaiting. Even Heated Rivalry cast are queerbaiting. Obviously i hate fan service, especially those straight mfs. Anyway if story is good then they should deserve the popularity. I really liked this series intense story, understanding and supporting each other, great acting. My obsession with good story in bl series fucking intense. Whoever enjoy watching j-bl series lets make jbl famous as fuck. Was this review helpful to you?
What kind of show is this?
Okay, this is the first time in my life I’ve watched a variety show about psychics competing against each other. The idea is honestly fascinating. The cases and challenges in each episode are clever and very interesting. They bring together tarot readers, shamans, saju readers, and different kinds of fortune-tellers, then make them compete to see who is the most accurate. It’s a pretty crazy concept. This show might actually be interesting for people who don’t believe in fortune-telling or the supernatural. At the same time, it doesn’t feel like the show is trying to force you to believe in those things (at least not for me). So what is the hidden message of the show? Is it trying to prove that psychics are real, or that they are fake? Anyway, I’ll stop overthinking that part.
There were a few things that bothered me while watching. Sometimes the judges’ reactions to the contestants’ predictions felt a bit exaggerated. Not only when they heard the readings, but also during moments like tied votes. At times it felt a little too dramatic. There were also moments that seemed to “sell sadness,” which reminded me of some TV shows in my country.
For example, there was one part where I felt really emotional and even cried while listening to one contestant’s story. The contestant’s tears felt very genuine, and it moved me enough to make me cry too. But when the scene suddenly cut to the judges, I stopped crying because their reactions looked a bit forced 😭 (just my personal opinion 🌷).
Another thing I noticed is that some scenes felt cut or edited out. I won’t go into detail, but maybe it was because of time limitations. There were many predictions that weren’t shown on screen. I understand that this might be to protect people’s privacy, but it was still a bit frustrating. It also felt like some contestants didn’t get enough screen time while others appeared much more often.
Well, things like that are quite common in Korean variety shows, so I’m not really surprised.
Aside from that, the show is good. The set design is amazing, the shamans’ costumes are impressive, and the background music sometimes gave me chills. Even the ritual in the final round looked like it was performed very seriously.
You should try watching The Battle of Fate. It’s definitely an entertaining show.

Incredible
Very good drama with a sensible victorious responsible fenake lead who doesn't tolerate nonsense. She's rekiable quick ambitious and very headstrong she crumbled all her enemies and watched them drown and ended up victorious. The only reason i didn't rate it higher was because it was a little dragged out but it was still an incredible show regardlessWas this review helpful to you?
Complete Rubbish
If we had contenders for Korean drams and movies that couldn't be accepted or remade today this would be at the top of the list. The fact it holds a 7.5 currently on mydramalist is very concerning. When i first watched this i was 15 years old i rated it a 10 out of 10, 4 years later when i actually developed and formed intellectual sense i change it to a 1 out of 10. The movies entire premise is a girl who gets into anrranged marriage with a 23 year old man at 16. Lol currently I'm 19 and i wouldn't even date a 16 year old not to talk of marriage no matter the scenario. This movies rating is the reason why we have laws banning child marriage because people see this and confuse it for a romance they think it's sweet but it's actually very concerning. Was this review helpful to you?
A decent movie
i was skeptical to goninto it because of it's erotic nature but it was actually a really decent movie. It was just about sex. The intimate scenes were used to potray power control and abuse. The premises itself is very intriguing and the story is very cautionary. Its definitely a person to person opinion on this movie because i found it watchable an decent but another person might now. Just remove ur bias watch and form ur own opinion. Was this review helpful to you?
CRIMINALLY UNDERATED
Very good zombie apocalypse drama with very healthy and very expressive main leads they both are very good at communicating and their chemistry is very good. In my opinion one of the best k drams with the potrayal of woman in existence. I like the way we see the leads fall in love and their friendship before the relationship. Also very good potrayal of a zombie apocalypse very similar to Other tv shows and movies but in an apartment complex setting. It definitely deserves to be considered one of the best k dramas of all time shame it's underrated. Was this review helpful to you?
