A Visually Rich, Art-Forward Watch

I watched this without subtitles and still greatly enjoyed it, which speaks to how visually expressive and thoughtfully crafted it is. The storytelling relies less on heavy dialogue and more on mood, atmosphere, and visual composition. Emotion is conveyed through framing, pacing, and the deliberate use of color, allowing the audience to feel the narrative even without understanding every word.

That said, it may not be for everyone. This is best suited for the eclectic viewer—someone who appreciates aesthetics as much as plot, who enjoys artistic or unconventional narratives, and who notices the intentional use of specific color palettes to signal tone, character dynamics, or emotional shifts. It’s the kind of experience where patience is rewarded, and the beauty lies as much in how the story is told as in the story itself.

Beautiful portrayal of growing pains

Just.. wow!! What a beautiful drama! I was hooked on from the very beginning!!

A heavy drama with a realistic plot, a lot of families can relate to such relationships and hardships. Being in your blooming youth makes everything more difficult. Seeing the harsh reality and feeling wronged. It’s beautifully portrayed with complex characters.

I know that a lot of people want to see romance heavily dramas, but romance is not the plot for this one. Not everyone is into slow burns but the romance was very refreshing to see, for me at least. Not everything needs romance. Everyone is such in a hurry, starting at a young age. I liked how they took it slowly but beautifully at the same time.

I would definitely recommend this drama! Don’t think too much, it will lure you into it!

Adorable

It's been a long time since I've seen such a good BL series. The actors are perfectly cast, not only the main characters. All the storylines are well rounded, and what's more, the relationship between the main characters is wonderful. I was surprised by the dynamics of their relationship *wink wink*, but everything was handled very well.

A história alterna conforto e perda o tempo inteiro.

No começo parece dependência.

Mediocre!

I know many people adore the JoongDunk pairing, and I like them as well. But honestly, what kind of performance are they delivering in this series? Mediocre would be a generous word. It is not as if they have ever been hailed as great acting talents, but this time the result is genuinely embarrassing.

Like many viewers, I assumed that, being a Netflix production, the series would at least offer a minimally decent storyline. What a disappointment.

The script is weak, the direction practically nonexistent, several shots are awkwardly framed, and the acting is poor across the board, including the supporting cast. The romance lacks any spark, and, even worse, the supposed crime plot is painfully mediocre.

I am sorry to those handing out perfect 10 ratings, but I simply cannot see any merit here.

I would not recommend it as a crime drama, nor as a BL series.

Messy friend group and rage baiting, but still a 10.

I'm kinda just rewatching my old favourites and specifically this one since they announced another season (which I am really excited for). I remember that the first time I watched this, I was extremely confused about the plot. OST is still peak after years tbh. Today actually, the new post for only friends: dream on dropped and I'm asss obsessed as with this series OST.

Boston is such an asshole and wtf was he even thinking? He has a boyfriend but cheats? Bro is clearly not interested in settling down like the rest of the group. Nick is kindaaaaa (really) blind and stupid for not noticing / not allowing himself to accept Boston's red flags and ignoring them.

Here is kinda something that might not be a very popular opinion but even first watching this, I was kinda irritated that they kinda kept pushing Mew to lose his virginity. This whole friend group is fucked in general but like.. why tell some random stranger that he's virgin CMON.

Im quite surprised that Gmmtheev made this THIS smutty and especially didn't expect it for Neo. I don't mind at all of course but.. yeah. One thing I gotta say; I feel bad for the woman under Gmmtv. Namchueam definitely deserved more screen time with her girlfriend etc. It's just soooo common for this to happen. I just want more gmmtv series where there's actually another MAIN couple that is wlw.

Love seeing Jennie Panhan in this series. I love trans representation and I hopeee Gmmtv actually gives her a main role. She's one of my favourite actors aswell.

I love how khaotung always has this type of role who loves teasing, loves older songs and don't get me started on how they dress him, aaahhhh. I also noticed the destroy love logo on khaotungs jacket in ep 7 hahahaha. I just love Khaotung and felt so bad for Ray. I understand his friends but like.. they were kinda assholes towards him. Leaving him to be. At the same time I get they also wanna live their own lives.

I like this messy ass friend group and that's why this series is one of my favs. I love how basically everything goes wrong and I loveee angsty stuff. I'm so excited for the next season!!

High Expectations, Mixed Feelings

I watched Descendants of the Sun because it’s such a famous Korean drama. So many people talk about it, and I think it was really popular when it came out. Because of that, I had pretty high expectations.

I really tried to appreciate the series. The first time I started it, I quit around episode six. I just couldn’t get into it. But I have this thing where I hate leaving a series unfinished, so about a year later I decided to give it another try and continue where I left off.

There are definitely some exciting scenes. Sometimes halfway through an episode the tension really builds up and peaks. But then it’s over quite quickly, and after that it goes back to a lot of dialogue again. The story takes place in mostly the same settings, so there isn’t much variation. They also keep building on the same few events over and over again.

It’s really a romantic drama, and for me that makes the military aspect feel a bit unrealistic. Everything is very romanticized. That’s fine, of course, but then I would have liked more action or stronger tension arcs to balance it out. For me, the story feels quite slow. There are some beautiful emotional and intense scenes, but not enough to keep me fully hooked.

Also, sometimes the characters speak English in the show. I have to be honest — it’s really not good. The characters brag about how well they speak English and that they studied in America, but when they actually speak it, it sounds very slow and hard to understand. That part felt a bit awkward.
There’s also a gang of criminals in the series, but they’re all young guys who literally look like fashion models straight out of a magazine. I just didn’t feel threatened by them at all. It made those scenes less believable and less intense.

And then the music. There’s one song that gets played over and over again — mostly the same little melody from it. After a while, it became a bit repetitive.
All in all, the storyline is different from the average Korean drama, and I understand why people like it. Maybe you just have to be into this kind of romantic military drama. For me, it didn’t fully live up to the hype. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

Beautiful and slow-paced movie

Everything about this movie is so beautiful, pure and heartbreakingly real. It's perfect if you want something to watch while overstimulated or just ready to get a bit sad lol. So content with it!

The storyline was very deep and while some parts were confusing I overall enjoyed it a lot, especially that they didn't create the perfect happy ending you're used to get. It was nice to see Yo Han getting better at the end though!

(I'm proud because I actually predicted that Gyeong Rok would die.)

A light watch which couldn't get me invested

I needed a siple watch and this drama delivered it, which can be a good thing, but to be honest it was just not anything special. I wasn't invested that much in the story mostly because I didn't understand what was going on, it wasn't extreme or thought provoking, but I enjoyed the simplicity and it was somehow refreshing? Weird mix of emotions here.

I wanted to watch this because of Go Younjung and SHE DEVOURED her role. I've always known she is a good actress and she has this captivating energy, but in this, her talent truly shined. It is not easy to act two different roles, but she could switch between Cha Muhee and Do Rami. I especially liked the Do Rami parts because that element was so interesting, it gave the whole drama a certain edge and the actress really brought out the vibe of the character. The delivery was good, that is why it didn't feel weird for me. I couldn't always place if Do Rami in the second half was just an act or a real thing, I guess it is up to interpretation, and I got the message but at the same time it was hard when the drama kept acting like it should be taken as a real person switch.

For me, the concept was interesting at the beginning, but the plot tired out pretty quickly. I felt like they didn't have many ideas for actual conversations or misunderstandings, so the emotions, heartbreaks and this push-and-pull plot was out of the blue. I understand the need for suspense, but it felt like those parts weren't written well. Sometimes I also got the impression that I just cannot grasp what was intended with the symbolics, maybe I am just too literal and the drama was intended to be mysterious and artistic. Overall this interrupted the plot for me which resulted in me not being invested afterall.

What I really enjoyed was the camera work. The colors, scenery, angles, dynamics really elevated the experience. This drama is beautiful, from the clothes, to the locations, I appreciate the details that went to the planning of this.

I don't have strong opinions, as I mentioned, this was a light watch with parts which I couldn't understand, so I wouldn't watch it again, but I cannot really complain either.

Absolutely Enjoyable

This series turned out nothing like I thought it would be. I went into this thinking it would be kind of goofy and unrealistic. I was completely wrong, and for the better, too. It turned out to be so entertaining, and somehow made this crazy story seem possible and believable. There was surprising drama blended with just enough comedy to make it work.
Besides the writing, the cast is what made this all come together. Each of the three protagonists added a completely different personality to the mix, proving the phrase "opposites attract" 100 percent! My favorite character was Shinpei, and Taiga Suzuki was great at portraying him. Kodai Asaka & Aki Asakura fit perfectly with their characters as well, making everything balance out.
As you get deeper into the series, you kind of start to question how things could possible turn out for the best. So many obstacles to get over ... but don't give up. Somehow, the final episode really gives us a great finish. It was surprisingly satisfying.
Overall a really enjoyable series!

It shows a lot of different ways love occurs, in an everyday way

I couldn't love an actor more than Huang Chin Chi. Both he and the actor who playesd his little brother in this short film were very good. It was a well written story, but the real delight was that the acting was entirely facial and physical. You could have deleted the dialog and soundtrack and still had quite the same experience, that is how good they were.

People will tend to complicate the reviews here. If you love stories about love, if you have ever loved a sibling, if a parent has ever loved you distantly and unconventionallly, if you've ever had to take a minute, this 16ish minutes will light up your soul.

I rated highly because it made me remember when love was simple, and the only answer, before life got difficult and confusing.

I hope to see Huang Chun Chi in more prominent and starring roles in the future. His skills are excellent.

Plausible yet unconventional drama

I watched this drama yesterday since i found the proper subtitle for this drama. If you are looking for entertainment or romance drama, this is not for you. If you look for unconventional plot, you can give this drama a try, Huang Yunyun nailed the female role this time and its my first time seeing Hou Pengyan in ancient drama. The supporting casts are doing great job and my personal favorite were FL's bodyguard and FL maid.

The plot is basically about FL who got second chance after being murdered by her husband who pretended to died with his mistress but the difference she just do any improvisation since she had no clue beside the time before her death. She was tricked by her Mother-in law few times while she want to change her fate without her knowing. The scumbag and mistress commit suicide and die together in the early stages, and the divorce is decided very early on. Later, FL fights with the ML against the emperor, the supervisor, and the imperial concubine. In the end, the couple works together to ascend the throne. Palace

Let's go to most controversial. Many people say that the FL was reborn for nothing, but in my opinion, she didn't even touch the core of this matter in her previous life. Given her position, she has already done her best for example she knew she couldn't change her mother hatred for her. FL also tried to fix ML fate few times even when he was exiled she stayed by his side.

The cons in this drama were editing and story coherence are flawed; there's too much content, and the flow isn't very smooth .There is much plot hole for the example ML repeatedly abandoned the FL for Consort Xiao, and the reasons for his kindness towards her were never clearly explained, which infuriated me.

You can this drama try if you want to see unconventional drama.

Silly but Not Insufferable

The drama was a slapstick comedy about an out-of-favor military noble and a hostage pawn of a neighboring country. The pawn suffered from a split personality which initially drew the suspicion of the rough ML, but her elegant and kind personality captured his attention.

I had to take breaks in watching, because broad comedy isn't my favorite. I'd keep coming back simply because the ML was so respectful of FL's autonomy, and that is often a rarity in Dramaland.

Added a half star because the ML insisted the FL should decide her own future. At every juncture when the 2ML wanted to protect her and prevent her from risky choices, ML would step in and champion her right to free will.

Pure first love nostalgia. Bright, bubbly female lead chasing her quiet, smart crush through school years into adulthood. It’s youthful, innocent, and full of butterflies. Beyond romance, the friendship group adds warmth and realism. Light, sweet, and perfect if you love growing-up-together stories with a soft happy ending. 💛
