A hidden gem!

Sweet drama with lots of ups and downs.
The story is different from most dramas, which kept me interested. Really loved that. Acting is good from all the top roles. The cemistry between main characters lacked a bit, or maybe I just wanted more passion. Having said that, I think they are good together!
Comedy was outstanding!

A very well thought out and very well executed drama

Been a while since I saw a drama that made me feel so good about life. This one was very well thought out and very well executed.

The entire cast was excellent, but a special shoutout to Ryeoun. He performs like a real rockstar, even though he just learned to play the guitar for this drama. Needless to say, his sign language and the facial expressions that come with it are impeccable. I wish this kid would get more projects (and well-deserved awards!). May the rest of the world find this gem.

A slow and quiet storyline

As much as I love healing dramas, this one was a bit too slow for me. I lowkey had no clue what was gonna happen next cause it was so slow. I think there are just too many dramas coming out for me to want to stick to this show. I'll probably come back to it one day as the main leads have such a sweet chemistry but as for now I am dropping this show.

One of the best series this year so far

I have been struggling to watch any series lately. Nothing attracts me. But a Dog and a Plane hooks from the first scene. It's so engaging.
Actors have all done a really good job. Everything is so natural that you forget you are watching a series.
The storyline pacing is well done. It's funny but not cringe. The timing and balance is really good. Totally recommended.

"I gradually lost my sense of time"

Buenos Aires Zero Degree: The Making of Happy Together was an interesting if overly long documentary. There were tantalizing “what could have been” storylines and deleted scenes. The film was directed by Amos Lee and Kwan Pung Leung attempting Wong Kar Wai’s style.

*What worked for me:

The early clips of Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Leslie Cheung practicing the dance scenes made me want to watch the film all over again. Their intensity, even in rehearsal, was mesmerizing. When the documentary focused on these two whether in outtakes, deleted scenes, or rehearsals, just like the film, you can't take your eyes off them.

There were snippets of interviews with Tony. He told of his desperate homesickness while they were stuck in Argentina hanging out when Leslie had to return to Hong Kong for his concerts. The six-week Argentina film shoot turned into four months putting pressure on everyone. Tony wondered if Wong had done it purposefully to drive them to the edge for the film.

Wong Kar Wai only knew he wanted to tell the story of Ho Po Wing and Lai Yiu Fai in Argentina and little else upon their arrival on the other side of the world. He proffered several story concepts, including Leslie playing both characters and dressing in drag among other ideas. Deleted scenes were shown and a much different ending was discussed. Crew members gave a tour of the various locations used in the film and told of the troubles they encountered.

*What didn’t work as well:

Initially, the interviews with crew members were insightful, but then it faltered as fewer compelling stories were shared. The last third of the film lapsed into a musical montage featuring supporting characters and their story possibilities.

The shaky, out of focus camera style was more annoying than intriguing.

*Was it worth watching?

Yes, with caveats. The first half of the documentary was well worth watching to hear how the director cobbled the story together and abandoned creative conceptions that would have carried the story in very different directions. As much as I loved the film Happy Together, the narrative was thin. Tony and Leslie made the film as they threw themselves into their roles. As their presence dissipated from the screen in the documentary, it quickly ran out of steam. Would recommend for anyone who has not read about the difficulties in making the film, but otherwise it was skippable. (7.25 bumped up to 7.5 only for the scenes of Tony and Leslie burning up the screen with their amazing chemistry and presence, even in short clips)

“…in a land of zero degree, with neither east nor west,
has neither day nor night, which is neither cold nor warm,
I learned the feeling of exile.”
-Wong Kar Wai

Payback Delivers Everything I Love: Dark, Intense, Emotional, and Absolutely Addictive

What a fantastic first episode. This is exactly my kind of drama. I love stories centered around violence, revenge, and the mafia world because they create such an intense and thrilling atmosphere, and Payback delivered that from the very first minute.

This is my first time watching Min as Sun, and I am genuinely impressed. His performance is incredible. From his facial expressions to the changes in his hairstyle and hair color, he makes every version of Sun feel distinct and believable. I especially love how the series uses Sun's changing hair color to clearly show which timeline we are in. The constant transitions between the past and present are handled so well. The flashbacks never feel confusing or unnecessary. Instead, they gradually answer questions while introducing new mysteries, allowing the audience to piece everything together naturally. It is such a smart storytelling choice and one of my favorite aspects of the episode.

Sun's story immediately pulled me in. After years of carrying guilt over the deaths of his mother and younger brother, he continues to blame himself for a tragedy that was never truly his fault. The real betrayal came from someone he once trusted, and that pain fuels the revenge at the heart of the story. The title Payback feels fitting because every emotion, every wound, and every act of betrayal is building toward something powerful.

It is also my first time watching Toptap, and he made a strong impression as Jay. Their first encounter was unforgettable, and that bear-riding scene was incredibly hot. The chemistry between them was instant and natural, making me excited to see how their relationship develops. Sun has already suffered so much in just one episode that it honestly feels like the writers are determined to put him through endless pain. It even reminded me of The Bangkok Boy at times. I'm hoping Jay will become the light in Sun's dark and miserable world because this man seriously deserves some happiness for once.

The episode started incredibly strong. The acting is excellent, the story is engaging, the dark and intense tone is exactly what I was looking for, and the fight scenes were well executed. I also loved the music, which elevated many of the emotional and action-packed moments.

Overall, Payback has everything I want in a drama: compelling characters, emotional depth, revenge, chemistry, action, and a dark atmosphere that keeps you invested. If the rest of the series maintains this level of quality, it could easily become one of my favorites of the year.

10/10. I cannot wait for the next episode.

It's Not Morphin Time

You can't watch this show expecting to be impacted the way Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was for the Western audience back then, mainly because I was a kid when I first watched it. It's interesting to watch it to compare the two, consuming the original concept through the suits, mecha, villains, and roster. However, while it's definitely not the greatest, it's also not the worst among the Super Sentai series. It has an average story aimed at children since many episodes focus on moral lessons, reflecting the cultural values of an average Japanese child at the time the show aired. Even so, it has one of the most beautiful visual concepts among the dinosaur-themed seasons. It’s an absolute classic, and you have to give credit to the designers of the suits, the characters' casual clothes, and the mecha, especially with the brilliant concept of Dragon Caesar and the Zyusouken.

Want romance and likable characters? This is it!

Hollywood, listen up! You want a strong, female girl boss, who can still be sweet and likable, along with an equally strong hero? watch and learn how it's done! Both lead actors excelled in their roles. Both were tough and tender, and the supporting cast was one of THE BEST I've seen so far in Chinese cinema! Each episode drew you in and each character shone. Even the bad guys were well drawn and layered. (I wish I could read the original book!) And there's a ton of romance, from a middle-aged couple, a secondary lead romance, several twisted romances involving the bad guys, even a hint of a future romance in two little kids. The main heroine is strong, but retains her femininity and sweet nature. The hero is loyal and stoic on the outside, tender and protective on the inside. The only downside of this show was the confusing ending. But that aside, this is a series I want to own on DVD. I've already watched it twice so far. If you saw Prisoner of Beauty, this is just as great.

Nice but uhmmm

I really liked Duang with You, don’t get me wrong but it really cringed me out at times. Of course I love the acting and characters but there were times where Duang acted too childish in my opinion rather than someone who is supposed to be in college, but he was endearing at times as well. Also, it’s pacing was kinda slow, it took quite a while for them to get together and problems kept coming in a way that was trying the drag the whole thing out. But, it a nice but one run was good and I wouldn’t go out of my way to sit through this again. But, it was overall nice, I liked the stories, and loved laughing at some scenes!

Best opening scene in the Bl history, Tanrak is experiencing forbidden longing for Barth already...

Let's dive into A Beautiful & Devastating Masterpiece starring Geminifourth .
Opening scene of TICKET TO HEAVEN might be one of the best openings in the Bl history
S queer story beginning with marriage equality isn't just romance; it's a triumph of love and justice. . Tell me huh what's better ??

Main Highlight : The Boundaries of Faith and Love
The story between a deeply devout student preparing for priesthood. He clings tightly to his faith as a promise that he will eventually reunite with his deceased parents in heaven. And a charming but emotionally fragile new transfer student burdened by a broken family and a painful past.

~~~~ ***DETAILED REVIEW*** ~~~~
( inner thoughts and emotions shared , philosophies shared )
sorry if it's too long but it's worth reading, I guarantee 😆
I got emotionally attached to itt, it felt so reall to me . Almighty God pls bless themm ..
It's the pillar of the whole series, the emotional build up between the characters and Both are enduring pain .
I know they will salve each other's wounds.
There is a hidden, beautiful logic to how the main characters are named and the meaning behind the names adds a beautiful layer to the story 🤌🏻
•Tanrak is a combination of two affectionate thai words : Tan ( แทน ) means ‘to substitute’ or ‘to represent’ and Rak ( ร็ก ) means ‘love’ when combined means “the representative of love” or “symbol of love”
•Barth is the shortened version of Bartholomew, a saint , one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus.
And philosophy says :
The name serves as a powerful thematic metaphor within the show. Much like his namesake, Barth is a tortured, fragile soul who has suffered greatly in life (having lost his mother to the justice system and facing rejection). Throughout the series, he and Tanrak become martyrs of love, caught between the rigid moral dictates of their 1990s Catholic seminary school and their deep, forbidden feelings for one another.
The painting TICKET TO HEAVEN itself has thousand meanings it's not just a painting but it's emotion , it's not just a man taking the stairs to heaven, but sufferings and sacrifices behind itt.
I felt the weight of that statement, experienced a stinging sensation . “ I realised that God never helped me at all. ”
This phrase illustrates the unbearable anguish that broke Barth's trust in a divine power. That hurts .
We finally got this after a long wait. The trailer alone is amazing; I can’t imagine how good the actual drama will be. God I'm in heaven it's already airing , This whole year-long wait was absolutely worth it.
A Stunning CINEMATOGRAPHY .
The atmosphere is top-notch, with a setting in a Catholic seminary makes it unique .
You're gonna find me here every Saturday I'm never giving up on this drama or I'll get cursed , I don't dare to leave this onee at all ♡
Heyyy pls don't mind, but I'm more interested cuz it's Geminifourth, their chemistry is as electric as anticipated, and the acting skills ofcourse..
I’m already obsessed with Barth’s facial expressions and his incredible aura. Despite being just the premiere episode, brewing chemistry between the leads is already undeniable.
I can tell it'll leave an indelible mark on everyone's heart even if it's going to be sorrowful.
I’m incredibly excited for the new episodes, but I’m almost afraid to watch them because I don't want it to end! Why are there only six episodes? I have no idea how I’m going to cope when it’s finally over.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the entire team for their exceptional work on this project, they've have created something truly remarkable.
It's strongly recommended from my side , Guys you gotta watch thiss .
Suddenly the opening scene clicked in my mind and now it's making scene, What was I thinking, what wrong with me??
Is there a satisfying, closed ending, or are they leaving it open?
Now I know, the most problematic part is the first scene of first episode
That’s a terrifying 30-year jump from 1996 to 2026 .
I am absolutely terrified that Ticket to Heaven is going to be just like Your Name Engraved Herein. I really cannot handle another heartbreaking ending like that!
After waiting a year, I refuse to be traumatized by a sad ending.
I’m really hoping for a definitive ending, not a cliffhanger.
That first scene makes it clear we are in for an emotional rollercoaster. I really hope the plot doesn't separate them for years, bring Barth back just for Tanrak's ordination, and then leave us hanging with an unresolved ending!
Noo man I can't even think of ittt .
After watching episode 2, I was right—this confirms my theory about Tanrak's name. Literally how beautiful.
I never expected such an unexpected twist in the second episode—Taarak's intense obsession and desperate craving for Barth was truly shocking.
Despite his best efforts to flee from temptation, he cannot stop his heart from loving. If love is a God-given emotion, why is it branded a sin to love whom we choose?
Every time Barth teases Tanrak or secretly looks at him, it is obvious he is developing feelings. Watching their chemistry makes me blush every single time. The way he stares hits different.
Not just Barth,
It is completely obvious that Tanrak feels an intense sexual tension toward Barth. The way he constantly stares at Barth's lips, obsessively replays their physical encounters in his mind, and later masturbates clearly shows his deep desire. I can't breathe . I'm screaming !!!
But the expression on Tanrak’s face the moment he realizes he loves Barth is devastating. He looks consumed by guilt, perfectly capturing the agony of realizing you've fallen into a love that is a sin—the kind of sin that locks you out of heaven.
Will he escape the snare of his desires, or allow them to take over?
Tanrak is torn between his spiritual path and his feelings for Barth.
This spectacular episode beautifully highlighted the deepening, heartfelt connection between the characters and perfectly captured the characters growing attachment to one another.
Fourth is a phenomenal actor—he communicated the entire depth of the scene without uttering a single word. Huge round of applause for him!
Great plot, but hollow lead characters.
I was looking for romance and great lead characters. What I received were two kisses, a Chinese girl boss and a lead male that does nothing but hold her coat. Please, China, don't follow Hollywood down the bllack hole of radical feminism and emasculated males! You can have likable strong female leads with strong and handsome male leads. See Pursuit of Jade for instructions. This story had an intetesting plot, but an ice cold FL, and an almost pointess ML. I kept hoping it would improve, but it never did.
Started out strong then went off the rails
This drama started out so interesting. You have a strong, emotionally closed off Jeonghan, who takes control - including spicy scenes. Then you have the sweet, submissive Iljo, who slowly starts to win over Jeonghan with his constant acts of service. I truly enjoyed the first 4 episodes. If the storyline would have stayed that way, it would have gotten a 10.
However, around episode 5 it suddenly nosedives into a convoluted plot of family backstabbing and miscommunication between the characters. It feels like a completely different show. Did they change writers? Also, the characters seem to switch personalities. Suddenly our strong take-charge Jeonghan is depressed and crying all the time while Iljo is closed off and doesn’t seem that interested in their relationship anymore. I feel like all the effort came from Jeonghan in the last 3 episodes.
The soundtrack is actually really good, I gave it an extra point for that.
Waste of my time
There have been kdramas that i drop, but this one i forced myself to watch until the end - i think i was hopeful that it would get better and prove me wrong. But now that i finished it, i think i just wasted time i should have used for better things. I really didn't like anything about this drama, i feel frustrated with myself for watching it. Don't make the same mistake. It had potential, it could have been a good show, but it just wasn't.
My First C-Drama: Derailment
I loved this!! It was my first C-drama. There are many plot twists throughout the show. I just wished there were more romantic scenes and some parts felt a bit slow.
Though the character development is really good, especially with the main character, which I loved! I also liked how the story progressed and how well the plot built up. However, the ending felt really fast and abrupt, which was a little disappointing because the overall plot was so strong.
Other than that, the villain is so chilling and the show keeps you guessing till the end. Great drama!
