Set up like a 3-act play

Let's get this out of the way - I enjoyed it, but I had a difficult time suspending disbelief in many areas (and it was NOT the ghosts). The acting was excellent. Eun Bin and Se Jong were so cute together. Shout out to Ong Seong Wu as Min Hwan - he played a very nuanced character. The first time he appeared, he gave me feeling of distrust that was just amplified each time he appeared. The smile with the cold eyes...chilling. Supporting cast was also good.

Great costume design. I loved the closed Eun Bin wore - except for the boxy, square, oversized men's suit that she wore at the shareholder meeting.

Here's where my issues came in - did this have three different writers? This seemed to be broken up into three distinct acts.
Episodes 1-5 focused on ghosts. This section was so entertaining, especially with Gang Uk's fear.
-Gang Uk flatlined and they had to shock him, but just a few minutes later his wound was dressed, he was back in street clothes and standing in front of Yeo Ri. Suspend disbelief.

Episodes 6-9 focused on their relationship. They were a very sweet couple. Gang Uk was a walking green flag. I did enjoy watching Yeo Ri go from cold and distant to warming up and smiling. We got a cute engagement ceremony.
-How was he always able to find her when she didn't answer his calls? Did he have a tracker on her?
-Her hands were the only thing that were a problem. The reasoning for him wearing gloves as well? Double protection?

Episodes 10-12 Corporate intrigues. I felt like this whole thing was very convoluted.
-Breakup because of superstition. Suspend disbelief.
-why was Yeo Ri holding the murder weapon?
-the biggest problem for me was when Gang Uk went to the murder scene and found the cufflink. Did Min Hwan's lackey have the White Truck of Doom on speed dial? How did he even know Gang Uk was there? THEN, Yeo Ri pushed Gang Uk out of the way but proceeds to stand there for the truck to hit her. Why didn't she just do a flying tackle? I couldn't suspend belief this far.
-Was the final scene, where they were walking together, the first scene they filmed? The writing was so forced and both actors looked like they were acting. The whole thing felt wrong.

The product placement throughout this whole show was so obvious and poorly executed.

Bottom line? I would still recommend it. Turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

Our Movie (2025) ❤️ I LOVED IT

Our Movie is honestly one of MY MOST FAVORITE EMOTIONAL K-DRAMAS & ROM-MELODRAMAS that I have ever seen. I have been watching K-dramas for a long time, and this one really got to me in a way I was not expecting. The storyline is beautiful, emotional, and incredibly engaging, with just the right amount of romance, drama, suspense, and thriller elements. It takes you through such an EXTREME ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS that I was completely invested from beginning to end. I went into this expecting to enjoy it, but I ended up absolutely loving it.

Namkoong Min once again proves why he is one of my MOST FAVORITE Korean actors. He is absolutely handsome, but more importantly, his performance here is phenomenal. He brings so much depth and emotion to his character, and every expression and emotional moment feels incredibly natural. Jeon Yeo-been is absolutely beautiful and equally amazing, and her performance perfectly complements Namkoong Min. Their acting together was simply PERFECT, and the chemistry between them is one of the biggest reasons I loved this drama so much. Their relationship feels genuine, emotional, complicated, and incredibly easy to become attached to.

I also really loved the rest of the cast and how well everyone fit into the story. The drama does a fantastic job balancing its romance and emotional storytelling with its thriller elements, and I genuinely loved the way the storyline kept pulling me deeper into the characters. There are so many moments that made me smile, hurt, worry, and just sit there processing my emotions. The chemistry between the couples is fantastic, and the emotional highs and lows are handled beautifully without needing spoilers to explain why they work so well.

Overall, Our Movie is absolutely a drama I will remember for a long time. It has a beautiful storyline, incredible performances, amazing chemistry, romance, thriller elements, and an emotional journey that completely pulled me in. Namkoong Min and Jeon Yeo-been were phenomenal, and together they made this drama something truly special for me. After watching K-dramas for so long, finding one that can still hit me this hard is something I really appreciate. One of MY MOST FAVORITE EMOTIONAL K-DRAMAS & ROM-MELODRAMAS EVER. ❤️

the best comedy drama of this year.

I am watching Pull String, and I really love the fact that not a single episode is boring. I have watched the donghua version of Pull String, which is Big Brother. Obviously, it is not as grand as the anime because the scale you can create in animation is really hard to replicate in a drama. So, they definitely made some changes. But you still get what you want.

You get a good story, great comic timing, hilarious situations, and, as the cherry on top, a cute couple. I also like how lighthearted the drama is. The first priority seems to be the plot and comedy, and surprisingly, it works well enough for me to stay hooked.

I won't lie about the VFX—it feels a bit like Love Between Fairy and Devil. It's not too good, but it's not too bad either.

If you are looking for something serious, with high production value and detailed, complex characters, this one is probably not for you.

But if you want something funny to watch, where you get a good plot and can simply have fun, with lighthearted characters, then this one is for you.

10/10 if you want something funny to watch.

I would also say that if you have watched The Guardian of Dafeng, Pull String is better than that one when it comes to comedy. the best comedy fantasy drama i have watched in main stream..

Was surprised by the acting and how this truly feels like a slice of life!

I was really surprised by this series. Especially by the actors and how they played out various scenes, most notably the actor playing Azuma. It felt real. It engrossed me in the story. I was even surprised by them keeping the same level of acting during the intimate scenes, especially Azuma's actor. ( His expressions are not afraid to show passion and pleasure or softness etc. Even the way he moves and acts)

I really love actors who take their work seriously and perform well. They do not let their acting be affected by preconceptions about the genre. There is none of that mindset where they treat it as a joke, or carry an attitude of secretly finding it disgusting and hating it.(Sometimes even openly while acting)

That lack of respect always translates very clearly into their performances and you can tell.

I mean, if someone does not like certain roles, then they should just avoid auditioning for them. Doing it just for the paycheck or not taking it seriously hurt everybody in the long run.

I have seen so many shows esp I dramas where the actors look like two dead fishes just going through the motions,(of kissing or touching, zero chemistry! Somebody might as well pointed a gun in their faces) and it drives me crazy. I am not just talking about BL either, but acting in general.

So this series earned a lot of respect from me for avoiding that and just acting to the best of their abilities. I also like how they avoid most typical BL clichés

It is kind of sad because this should really be the standard, but unfortunately, it is not, at least for now.

This show felt so realistic and human, like I was really watching someone live this kind of life a true slice of life.

This might not be something I might want to rewatch ( just cuz the topics have more of that sad/bittersweet, such is life moments and I prefer more of the optimistic happy ones) but I liked the atmosphere. It was refreshing to see in a BL, the more human side of it.

One of the best CDRAMA i have watched!

I started watching this cdrama because of HMH (he is one of my favourite cdrama actor) but i also watched vids of the controversies of how the FL and ML have such a big age gap (10-11 years) but it didnt really mattered to me because i have watched kdramas and jdramas where the actors have a big age gap (for example mischevious kiss) and also i care more the drama than their age gap. While I was watching this, i was truly surprised by how good their chemistry is (PLUS THEY BOTH LOOK SOOOOO FINEEEEEE). I didnt even realise that there wasnt even a kiss scene, i was so invested in this drama! The story is very engaging, the fight scenes are so good especially the archery contest one, everything about this drama was so good! The only thing i kind of disliked was how rushed the ending was but i didnt really mind it. ANYWAYS, I AM SO HAPPYYYY THAT I WATCHED THIS CDRAMA. I would recommend giving this cdrama a chance (Plus I want to rewatch it NOW).

For a 12-episode supernatural romance drama with a hint of chaebol drama as well as a hint of a crime/mystery genre, this drama was quite balanced. If the drama's run had been longer, I would've expected more supernatural elements to be included and the suspense bit to be more, but for all that's worth, this drama was quite fun to watch and was not at all feel draggy. I honestly don't understand why anyone is complaining about the plot.

Park Eunbin did very well in portraying a young heiress who, aside from being saddled with the responsibility of managing a huge conglomerate... she also had to deal with the unfortunate ability of being able to see ghost. I love how Eunbin was able to bring out the cold image of a CEO who needs to act strong in the face of many opponents in the business world, but also showing the vulnerability and loneliness that Cheon Yeori had to face due to her supernatural ability. Yang Sejong also did well in portraying the steadfast and goofy prosecutor who ended up falling in love with such a remarkable moment.

Something that I feel needs to be pointed out, as much as the writing may seem quite simplistic at first glance... when you try to delve deeper into the details, you can't help noticing the foreshadows that may seem trivial at first but then turn out to make a lot of sense. Like how there were several times Gang-uk was shown trying to do something cool to maybe 'impress' Yeori or to show his reliability, only to end up failing and making him look silly. While at first it may look like the silly scenes with Sejong were only written just for laughs, it turned out later that there's an explanation to why Gang-uk seemed to end up behaving that way. And it's quite impressive that, despite this being a short drama... the narrative progression between the supernatural plot, the everyday plot, as well as romance was done in a way that wasn't too heavy-handed. The characters were written in a way that's quite believable, and not too shallow or 2D just to fit the narrative.

While I haven't yet watched Spellbound, from which this drama was loosely based on... it's still quite impressive that the drama managed to squeeze out 12-episode worth of a story. Honestly, it's best not to have very high expectations and what to expect from this drama. I mean, from the beginning I already peg this drama as a light-hearted romcom with a touch of supernatural, and the drama delivered exactly that.

H O R R O R

When you guess the ratings...all 10s are as if they were for the Oscar, and the story is so hollow, so similar to the others that you already know who the killer is and the plot is so shallow and hollow that there's nothing to go on. The only thing is that if there is no chemistry between the two main characters, I wouldn't watch it, even though nothing will happen between them. The acting is thin and shallow, the director as if he came from the circus to direct the series. All in all a big 1!

It was very engaging at the beginning of the drama. It was my first time watching a bl and I totally loved it. At the second half how should I put this...the misunderstanding gave me a headache it was also my first time watching a drama full fo misunderstanding and lack of proper communication but overall I love their chemistry. I was so engrossed in it that I got upset when the series ended.
Theost annoying character for me was illjo brother. That guy was a serious pain in the ass.
And up till the ending I still don't know what feelings jeonghan has for illjo. It it love or obsession? Anyways I'm going to keep rewatching for a long time!

What's Immature, Obnoxious, Arrogant, and Adorable? Gu Yan Zhen!

How I enjoyed this! I'd been dubious about pretty Bai Lu playing the role of a boy, but she did an admirable job. I could almost believe she was a young soldier if I squinted just right and suspended belief. Thank goodness, the make-up artists went light on mascara and lipstick. The last drama I watched with a woman dressed as a man was The First Jasmine, and it was laughable that anyone thought the woman with lipstick, plucked and penciled eyebrows, mascara, and noticeable breasts was a man. But I digress. Bai Lu must have been wrapped well, because her lady bits were well camouflaged. And she acted in a masculine manner and became stronger as the drama progressed.

I didn't recognize Xu Kai until I checked the credits. He'd only begun his drama career, and he was so young. Just a pup! Yet he played the role with style—he made the character of Gu Yan Zhen his own. I don't know if tight black leather pants were really a thing in the Chinese Republican Era, but they should have been. Xu Kai was impeccably styled throughout the drama in cravats, long coats, leather vests, and a wide array of boots.

Were the fight scenes ridiculous? Invariably. Fifty against one was handled easily. Did the heroes get critical wounds? Of course, but they were up and ready for action in a matter of days. And was the villainess annoying? So much so that I'm not willing to watch another drama featuring the actress for awhile!

The Good:
• The cast was large but handled well, giving several story arcs to individuals. The chemistry of the ensemble was relatable—starting as strangers, evolving to friends or enemies, and ending as close as siblings.
• Great character growth.
• Wonderful sense of camaraderie.
• I was given a new perspective on that time period in China. I hadn't considered that dismantling the monarchy would have had support from some of the Chinese people, even though it was done forcefully by a foreign nation.

The Bad:
• Patriotism was a bit overbearing. I appreciate the love of one's homeland, but I don't want to be bludgeoned repeatedly with it in a drama.
• Qu Man Ting got on my nerves. I was grateful when she disappeared for a while late in the drama.
• Guns in most Asian shows are unnerving. There is NO trigger or muzzle discipline. Fingers are on the trigger while riding in a fast-moving car on a dirt road, and the gun is pointed at the head of the hostage. One bad bump (or even an unexpected sneeze) and the upholstery is going to be splattered red. I cringed when Gu Yan Zhen was cleaning his gun and looked down the barrel. And those scenes where the soldiers surround the enemy and begin firing wildly into them? Plan on lots of friendly fire. I was amused that people who were shot fell down instantly dead from one bullet, no matter where they were shot. How considerate of them!

Arsenal Military Academy rates high as one of my favorite Chinese Republican Era dramas. The story was original, the cast was fun, and it had some sweet moments. I added a half star due to pure enjoyment.

“Apparently, Divorce Papers Fix Everything... OMG, it's absurd!

I went into Dream to You with pretty low expectations, so honestly, I thought I couldn't be too disappointed.

Apparently, I was wrong. 😂

The biggest problem for me was the romance.

NO. NO. NO. CHEMISTRY. WHATSOEVER.

I kept waiting for it to happen. Even just a little spark. That look between two people who actually want each other. That feeling that makes you think, “Okay, I get why these two are in love.”

But… nothing.

It honestly felt like the two leads were acting like they were in love because the script told them they were supposed to be in love.

They said romantic things. They looked at each other. They had emotional conversations. They kissed.

And I was still sitting there thinking:

“Am I missing something?”

There was no tension between them. No real excitement. No natural pull toward each other. No butterflies. Nothing that made me believe they had this great, unforgettable love story.

They looked more like two people doing a very convincing impression of a couple than an actual couple.

And the more the drama tried to convince me that these two had this deep connection, the more obvious the lack of chemistry became.

I’m not blaming the actors. They both did what they could. But chemistry is one of those things you simply cannot manufacture. You can write a hundred romantic scenes, add beautiful music, slow the camera down, make them stare into each other's eyes for ten seconds...

If the spark isn't there, it's not there.

And unfortunately, for me, it wasn't there at all.

Then we get Woo Soo-bin's father.

What an absolutely horrible character. The physical abuse, manipulation, control and psychological damage he causes are disturbing, and Soo-bin carries that trauma throughout his life.

Which makes the ending even more baffling.

Because after everything this man did...

THE DIVORCE PAPERS.

That's it?!

😂😂😂

I genuinely thought I had missed something.

After all that abuse and suffering, the big consequence is basically:

“Here are your divorce papers. Goodbye.”

Seriously... WHAT was the writer thinking?

I kept waiting for some real accountability. Some consequence. Something.

Nope.

I thought I had missed an episode or something.

Nope

Divorce papers. THE END.

After spending so much time showing us how awful this man was, the drama basically says, “Well, they're divorced now, so problem solved!”

I'm sorry, but I actually laughed.

Not because it was funny.

Because at that point, what else was I supposed to do?

😂

The whole drama also suffers from way too much melodrama, trauma, crying, misunderstandings and sad music. There are some genuinely good ideas buried underneath all of it, but the execution left me more exhausted than emotionally moved.

I finished it thinking less “What a beautiful love story” and more:

“Well... I survived.”

Low expectations.

Still disappointed.

And I’m STILL thinking about those divorce papers.

DIVORCE PAPERS?! Seriously?! OMG.

And honestly, I’m left wondering what kind of message the writer is trying to send about abuse and trauma with an ending like this.

Because… really? 🤔🤔🤔

Deep

Amazing , so much esoteric wisdom that few will see or comprehend, love the actors, beautiful real love story, great characters , wonderful.. Deep. The emperor represents REAl love, which is truth, care, love in action, beauty, he represents all that is love that is also loyalty, balance, wisdom, intellect etc. But the system he is in needs repairing and a new life. the Shen family represent what it means MOUNTAIn, they will only allow love to enter their kingdom, and can distinguish what is and what is not, they are the ones who carry the new emperors. XU represents the old order, an order that is outdated and will not budge eand so does not recognize love the slaps them in face. The FL, is also a pure love like the emperor so deserving of him, both have their traumas, the emperor being told he cannot love romantically, and having the burden of the Crown, whilst The FL had to survive the worst horrific abuse on all levels, she has survived thanks to love, she will defend all that is love and sacred in her life, the emperor will attack what is not love. They will both compromise and refrain and even sacrifice from their own relationship with one another when called for, because, what matters is that love is not just romance but love of all that is worth living. that is why, it is inevitable they end up together, their bond is unbreakable because it is true love, firm as a rock. the other characters have their own tribulation in love, because it hasn't reached that firmness yet. Beautiful story love to watched it twice, very clever sand well written cript as well. I love all the characters, well developed and they all have a crucial role in the story. Even the Shen head if the family will sacrifice tis daughters love not just to protect her, but if the old ways refuse a newcomer as the empress, there is no other choice for the empress but his own daughter who is loving and decent , she represents all that a real empress should be. I loved her story, the one who falls in love , gets badly hurt because she doesn't see true love , blinded by the fake light, only to be saved by real love, it takes a while for the heart to heal, so this real love short lived sadly and I cried a lot for her story. The Shen young master also recognizes love in the second female lead but he is aways turned to whether this love comes first or his love and duty for the emperor . Then there is the one character obssessed in love and obsessed by what he thinks is his duty which totally consumes his love instead of resurrection of it. He confuses love with obsession and on the path of total destruction, killing many in his path including himself. I loved the character of the Baron, could not help feeling sorry for him as he would not have anyone touch or abuse children and even had a school for them, but he forgot what it was to be abused and took plenty revenge on adults for his own power. Great drama !

Amazing Chemistry.

Love the 90s aesthetic, I think this drama nailed the vibes and the era of the 90s. It was very cool and interesting to see old phones, houses, way of life then. The OST was perfectly matched with the aesthetic of the drama and complimented the different scenes.

Story wise, the first about half of the episode till about ep20, was very engaging. As an audience it kept me wanting more; to know, learn and understand more about the main character's dynamics, family and the relationship that they had with each other. It was refreshing as the story begins with the most realistic plot that includes broken family issues, abuse and poverty. Which I think is quite rare in modern dramas lately.

After ep20+ onwards, it got a bit dry. While the tax part is crucial in the storyline, I feel like the romance/relationship growth between the ML and FL was not portrayed well. Thus, it made me felt disengaged/bored while watching at some point.

While I understand the FL is trying to get the ML to understand that she's no longer a kid that needs protection all the time (therefore there's friction here and there), the drama did not portray well on whether the ML understood FL's POV. Basically his 'growth' as a character was not shown well.

Towards the end, I think it was quite well done, their relationship, feelings towards each other. It was nice to also see their dating era. This brings me to the chemistry between the main leads.

SWL and ZJY had an amazing chemistry together. Despite my feedback about the lack of portrayal of the male lead's growth, I could feel how much Chen Yi cared for Miao Jing. It doesn't make sense how selfless he was with her but then again love itself does not make sense.

Despite the drama lacking at some parts, their chemistry outshined. Both of them suits each other so well and it was endearing to see them on screen. Their acting was good, which was important as this drama was emotionally heavy at times. Honestly, need another drama of them playing as leads again!

Overall, I enjoyed watching this drama. Would recommend if you want something refreshing and realistic.
