Very original plot
Loved the plot and the funny tone, as well as the romance. Also liked a lot the acting and the atmosphere of the show which is really soft and bright. Rowoon was a great discovery, and the slow appearance of his character was really well handled. The characters are well portrayed and well developed, and their interactions with the viewer are for me very interesting and unexpected. I also liked the soundtracks, which were soft and suited well the episodes. This series made start kdramas :) I would recommend it for sure !Was this review helpful to you?

Lin Zhixia's reliance on logic and isolation wasn't just personality—it was a survival mechanism. Her social anxiety convinced her that people were unpredictable variables, whereas her own mind was safe.Watching her realize that she doesn't have to carry every burden alone has provided the show's most powerful emotional beats. I commend the director and screen writing for Making Genius Girlfriend not the usual Campus romance .This drama is so grounded , realistic .Lin Zhixia journey of making friends breaking jer shell is relatable and will make your heart warm , will make you sad and cry but together with her brother and new friends you love comforted and laugh out loud 🤣😅.Her losing the compilation will make you sad but through that shes able to recognise the strength of teamwork that she is not alone at allWas this review helpful to you?

I've watched many historical and time travel dramas, I thought I would get extremely bored if I try this one, I thought it would have very similar other storylines and the actors I thought would not be that professional.
This series is so good and different.
Even though it's quite similar to Love Upon A Long Time, suddenly after some incident both the characters time travelled to recover the past mystery.
And then fall in love with someone in the past, someone they bicker with..
But honestly I understood stuff in this series much better, it's conveying every stuff clearly, actually LUAT the characters talked in a beautiful poetic harmonious manner, I don't really understand them well so, I wasn't able to understand many parts.
Well, those lines sounded very beautiful but sometimes they were quite hard for me to catch up.
The language used in this series is much more simpler, and the storyline is extremely romantic, the way P'Muen was blushing aww that was so cute, I loved his reactions after getting picked up by Gaew ( Great ) .
They were always bickering.
Great and Gaew do they even have a thing in common except for their faces.
I don't think so, Gaew is something wrong with him, how can he do those things to those people who raised him like their own son.
That was stupid, him literally trying to drown the boat..

Lovely Runner? More Like an Overhyped, Overrated and Boring Run in Circles
If I had to describe my experience of watching Lovely Runner in one word, it would be frustrated. Several people recommended it to me, but I started it quite late because heavily hyped dramas often struggle to fulfil the enormous expectations surrounding them. Unfortunately, my hesitation proved justified. Despite its popularity and remarkably high ratings, Lovely Runner became one of my most disappointing K-drama experiences.On paper, the premise is genuinely promising. Lovely Runner combines fantasy, romance and time travel in a story about a devoted fan attempting to change the fate of the celebrity who once gave her hope. It is an emotionally appealing concept with all the ingredients required for an engaging romantic drama. The initial episodes establish that premise reasonably well, and it is easy to understand why the story attracted so many viewers.
However, an interesting premise cannot carry an entire series by itself. After the opening episodes, the narrative becomes increasingly predictable. The repeated changes to the timeline create the appearance of movement, but the central conflicts and emotional patterns remain largely unchanged. Instead of developing naturally, the drama repeatedly manufactures danger, separation and emotional distress to keep the story moving. Several scenes feel prolonged beyond their dramatic value, while others appear to exist primarily to provoke another emotional response from the audience.
This repetition gradually weakened my investment in the characters. Rather than wondering what would happen next, I often felt that I already understood the pattern: hope would appear, another complication would separate the leads, someone would cry, and the timeline would once again rearrange the circumstances without meaningfully changing the emotional substance of the story. The nonlinear structure could have created suspense and complexity, but the screenplay handles its movement between timelines without enough clarity or discipline. As a result, the drama frequently loses momentum and, eventually, my attention.
This was my first time watching both Kim Hye-yoon and Byeon Woo-seok in leading roles, and unfortunately, neither performance connected with me as strongly as I expected. Kim Hye-yoon brings considerable energy to Im Sol, but her performance often felt excessively expressive for my taste. The exaggerated reactions, forced cuteness and frequent shifts into heightened emotion made the character more irritating than endearing to me. Some viewers clearly found this style charming, but I struggled to see a natural person beneath the performance.
Byeon Woo-seok delivers a more restrained performance as Ryu Sun-jae and handles several emotional scenes reasonably well. Nevertheless, I did not find the performance compelling enough to justify the extraordinary level of praise surrounding it. The character is likeable and devoted, but much of his appeal comes from how idealistically he is written rather than from particularly layered characterisation.
More importantly, I did not feel convincing romantic chemistry between the leads. Chemistry is subjective, and many viewers clearly experienced their relationship very differently. For me, however, their interactions often seemed carefully performed rather than naturally lived. Both actors appeared to be working extremely hard to create sweetness, comedy or heartbreak, and that visible effort prevented many scenes from feeling spontaneous. The supporting cast performs adequately, but when the central relationship fails to create an emotional connection, the surrounding story inevitably loses much of its impact.
The direction also contributes to this problem. Almost every important scene is treated as though it must become the emotional centrepiece of the entire drama. The actors are frequently asked to express everything at maximum intensity, while lingering shots, tears and music repeatedly emphasise what the audience is expected to feel. Emotional storytelling is most effective when intensity is balanced with restraint. Here, the constant insistence that every moment is special eventually makes very few moments feel genuinely special.
I always look for one or two exceptional scenes that remain in my memory after a drama ends. Great dramas usually contain moments in which the writing, performance, direction and emotional context come together so naturally that the scene stays with the viewer. Lovely Runner appears determined to manufacture that effect repeatedly. Instead of allowing a few significant scenes to stand apart, it frames numerous interactions as iconic romantic moments. For me, this overemphasis diminished their impact and left me without a single scene that felt truly extraordinary.
Visually, however, the drama is considerably more successful. The cinematography is polished, with attractive framing, warm colour grading and carefully selected locations. Recurring visual elements—including the yellow umbrella and seasonal imagery—give the series a recognisable aesthetic identity. The costumes and makeup are also excellent. The colour combinations complement both the characters and the environments, while the styling convincingly supports the movement between different periods. This department deserves genuine praise.
The soundtrack is another major strength. The songs are memorable, and the background score generally matches the intended atmosphere of each scene. Even when the narrative failed to move me, the music frequently did its best to provide the emotional weight that I found missing from the performances and screenplay.
The finale provides the happy romantic resolution that most fans would want, but by that point, I was no longer emotionally invested in the outcome. Rather than feeling satisfied, I mainly felt relieved that I had reached the end. The combination of repetitive plotting, heightened performances and excessive emotional manipulation made the series surprisingly difficult for me to complete.
I understand why Lovely Runner became popular. It offers an attractive cast, polished visuals, memorable music, an appealing fantasy-romance premise and an idealised love story built for passionate fandom. Nevertheless, popularity and personal quality are not always the same thing. For me, the execution never fulfilled the potential of the premise, and the content did not justify its exceptionally high reputation. Lovely Runner may be deeply meaningful to many viewers, but for me, it was an overextended and emotionally exhausting drama whose hype greatly exceeded its substance.

COme il primo ho adorato anche questi quattro episodi speciali. Non mi sono interessate per nulla le varie polemiche dietro alla trama, ne ai personaggi ne a nulla. Solo stavo per dare 9,5. Poi ho visto il montaggi con alcune coppie della GMMTV fare i vari Peach and Thee e ho deciso che se on do dieci alle cosa che mi piacciono e che mi hanno fatto ridere come poche cose al mondo, non so nemmeno io a cosa dovrei dare 10. Altre storie più adulte.
Sono felice che la GMMTV stia cominciando a fare anche altre storie più mature e adulte. Sono felice che TayNEw abbiano portato questi due personaggi sugli schermi, e che devo dire mi sono sembrati molto validi e anche un po' diversi rispetto ai loro soliti personaggi. Ho trovato valida anche l'interpretazione di MondRyu che ora come ora non vedo l'ora di vedere nelle prossime serie (e spero anche a breve in ruoli da protagonisti). Detto questo una cosa che un po' mi è dispiaciuta è che si è visto poco Oab. Ammesso e non concesso che il suo ruolo era proprio quello di un personaggio orribile devo dire che mi sarebbe piaicuto vederlo un po' di più, anche perché dalle premesse sembrava che il suo ruolo fosse più complesso. Dettp questo ripeto ho trovato la serie molto divetente e simpatica e sicuramente qualcosa da rivedere nei momenti di tristezza o di down.Devo dire che quete ultime serie della GMMTV che sto vedendo, con magari cast ridotti e solo 10 episodi mi sembrano siano la quadra giusta, non troppo lunghi, non con perdite di tempo, insomma, il giusto mix.

Listen... this is one of those dramas that lives comfortably in the "turn your brain off and enjoy the pretty people" category, and honestly? It does the job.Is it original? Absolutely not. Is it groundbreaking? Also no. Is it surprisingly enjoyable anyway? ...Yeah, kinda.
The visuals are actually pretty solid for a mini drama. Everything looks nice, the pacing keeps things moving (especially in the first half), and I genuinely liked the FL.
Deng Kai started off strong too. The man entered with enough intensity to power a small city, and I was READY. Then somewhere around the halfway mark someone apparently found his "feral" switch and turned it to golden retriever. He became this hopelessly devoted cutie pie, which was adorable... but also took away a lot of the edge that made him so entertaining at the start.
The chemistry? Pretty good. The kisses? Let's just say they were... legally present. Lukewarm is probably the nicest word I can use. 💀
The plot, however, was running almost entirely on convenience rather than logic. Every problem was solved at exactly the right moment, and the whole thing was held together by duct tape, coincidences, and pure determination.
My biggest disappointment was White Hair Guy. The first half promised emotional hurricanes between him and the FL, but by the end we got a mildly enthusiastic breeze. Sir, where did the menace go??
Now, like 90% of dramas in this genre, this one suffers from the classic "the first half ate, the second half started drooling" syndrome. The beginning had me invested, the tension was there, the characters had their moments, and I was sitting here thinking "wait... is this actually going to be one of the good ones?" And then the second half arrived like: "Cute expectations you have there, let me slowly dissolve them." 💀 Sure, the leads got their happy ending, but the last arc kind of fizzled out. And Bixia? My dude was so easily swayed he made my Monday mood swings look stable. 😭
Overall, I had un, and this was another successful reminder that in mini-drama land, vibes have always outranked logic.
Turn your brain off, enjoy the pretty people, and don't expect to remember much of it three months from now. 😂

Estremamente dolce
Proprio come dice il titolo, estremamente dolce e molto carina. L'unica cosa, peccato per gli ultimi due episodi dove si vede poco colui che non deve essere nominato e per questo si vede ancora meno Keaton, perché io capisco che le scene erano poche, però così sono state proprie zero. Il che spiace, perché comunque, indipendenteme da tutto Keaton si era impegnato, visto che in fin dei conti mancavano due puntate, potevano tenere quel poco che avevano con lui e chiuderla li dopo la fine della serie. Detto questo, non parlerò dell'elephant in the room, perché non centra nulla con la serie.Detto ciò ho apprezzato proprio tanto sia i personaggi di Almond e Progress (che ho trovato di un livello superiore rispetto alla prima loro serie) e anche KenPaul, che anche loro ho trovato molto carini e validi. La serie è stata molto brava a portarci indietro negli anni 90 con dei piccoli particolari, come ad esempio i cellulari che si moificavano nel tempo ma che hanno permesso di fare il trick. Alcune volte è proprio vero che non serve tanto per vendere un concept. Detto questo sono proprio contenta di aver visto questa serie, anche perché per una volta non ho nulla da dire per le scelte registiche di New, quindi cosa estremamente positiva anche questa.

So worth the watch
One of my favorite team, Sea and Keen has that chemistry that seems so genuine and cannot be fabricated unlike others. Sea has this smile that is so beautiful and Keen has the eyes to match. And it shows in the way they look and smile at each other. Yes great actors can emulate this but they can’t sustain it. From Only Boo! which drew me to them, every show is consistent. And more than any other pair these two is who I always look forward to watching. Though late in seeing this series I am enjoying every minute of it.Was this review helpful to you?
An Excellent Drama of Twists, Emotion, and Brilliant Performances!
Key to the Phoenix Heart is one of the most gripping historical C-dramas I've watched in recent years. From the very first episode, the series wastes no time pulling you into a world of political intrigue, betrayal, romance, and revenge. What impressed me most was how consistently engaging the story remained from beginning to end. Unlike many long C-dramas that lose momentum around the middle, this one kept introducing meaningful plot twists that constantly changed the direction of the story, making every episode feel worth watching.The chemistry between the two leads is exceptional. Both actors deliver emotionally powerful performances, perfectly capturing the pain, trust, sacrifice, and gradual development of their relationship. Their quieter emotional scenes are just as compelling as the larger dramatic moments, making it easy to become invested in their journey. The only thing that was a bummer was lack of kiss scenes, yet it's due to the known reasons. So I understand! Yet, Key to the Phoenix Heart proves that strong chemistry doesn't depend on physical intimacy. The emotional connection between the two leads is so authentic that every glance, every sacrifice, and every moment of trust carries far more weight than a kiss ever could.
The leads deliver outstanding performances, conveying love, longing, heartbreak, and unwavering devotion through subtle expressions and exceptional acting. Their relationship develops naturally, making it easy to believe in their bond despite the absence of traditional romantic scenes.
The writing deserves special praise. Nearly every major revelation feels earned rather than forced, and the political schemes are layered enough to keep viewers guessing. The drama continuously raises the stakes, with twists that genuinely surprised me instead of relying on predictable clichés. Each new revelation adds depth to the characters and makes previous events even more meaningful.
The OST perfectly complements the emotional highs and lows of the story, enhancing moments of love, loss, triumph, and heartbreak without ever feeling overwhelming. Several tracks linger long after the episode ends, instantly bringing back the emotions attached to pivotal scenes. The OST is so memorable and leaves a legacy to this Drama! Right after I finished watching, I went to hear the OST in YT! Especially these OST- A Promise Becomes a River and Know Me.
Another highlight is the pacing. Many historical dramas struggle to maintain excitement after their opening arc, but Key to the Phoenix Heart avoids that problem entirely. The middle episodes remain just as engaging as the beginning, with no noticeable filler or slowdown. Every episode contributes to the larger story, making it incredibly an easy to binge-watch.
The conclusion is satisfying and emotionally rewarding. The major storylines are resolved in a way that feels earned, bringing together the political conflicts and emotional journeys of the main characters, some may find it a vit rushed due to less episodes maybe? As the Drama still leaves a lasting impression and provides a fitting payoff for everything built throughout the series. I really think so!
Overall, Key to the Phoenix Heart delivers excellent performances, intelligent storytelling, memorable plot twists, and consistently strong pacing. It's a drama that keeps you emotionally invested while continually surprising you, making it one of the standout historical C-dramas of 2026.

OK story, but the pace is way too slow
This seems like two separate stories mixed-- a romance and on-off crime investigation. The two lead actors did a nice job. Some commentors thought the leads didn't have chemistry and I can see why they thought that. However, I think the issue is that both leads were portraying introverts in a slow show. It's the writing and directing that made them boring.For me the super slow pacing was the problem. Lots of scenes of the lead actors staring into space or silently judging, walking aimlessly endlessly (through parks, along streets, the beach, up and down stairs), and hanging out drinking coffee or whatever.... then, more scenes of the same. The show improved when I started watching a 1.5x speed. No need to watch this one again.

Since I had already read the **Payback** manhwa, I honestly had really high expectations. And this is just my personal opinion, but I think they did an amazing job adapting it into a drama. 🥹👏
When I first heard that **Payback** was getting a live-action adaptation, I was literally SHOCKED because if you've read the manhwa... YOU KNOW HOW INSANE IT IS. 😭🔥 There are so many intense moments that I kept wondering, *"How are they going to pull this off?"* But they really did their best, and I genuinely enjoyed the adaptation.
To all the manhwa readers out there... YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, RIGHT???? 😭🤝 The manhwa is absolutely wild, and seeing it come to life was such an unforgettable experience.
