Ambitious, and well executed
This drama is a refreshingly ambitious take on the super hero trope. The writers show respect for their characters all along the way. The huge amount of flash-backs may be too much for some viewers. I was surprised myself by the change in the narrative dynamic around 1/3 of the drama. But, by that time, I was invested enough in the characters that I wanted to know more about them, so I gladfully rode along.
Acting is top-notch. My personal favorite, as an acting performance and as a character arc, was Lee Jung Ha as Kim Bong Seok. Han Hyo Joo as his mother made me cry, and Go Youn Jung as his "friend who's a girl" made me smile. I enjoyed seeing those 3 together.
There were few, if any, frustrating moments: it was a pure joy to watch. Some scenes are breathtakingly intense. The action is brutal.
The special effects are mediocre at times, but the cinematography is brilliant. Lots of little charming details show that this drama was made with heart.
I'm looking forward to rewatching it a few years from now. Hopefully when S02 is released!?

Was this review helpful to you?

A splendid match and a not so splendid ending
I loved this drama so much, and I was tuned in every day for the new episodes. It is a politically interesting and gripping plot with an amazing romantic plotline between Ci Sha and Ren Min.The acting is definitely the highlight of this show. Ren Min is a phenomenal actress, and she manages to be both badass and extremely cute at the same time. Jin Zhao's little pout when she is annoyed is absolutely adorable, but don't let her fool you - she knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. Then there is Ci Sha of course. He is so handsome in this role, and the acting he does with his eyes is nothing short of amazing. I really loved having a ML who knew his way around court politics and it being believable. He is proof we need more mature ML's playing these older roles. Winwin is another highlight for me (as I imagine he is for most people). I have been a fan of his since 2016, but this is my first time seeing him in an acting role, and he really impressed me.
The plot was so good up until the end. I don't know if I even want to call it and end, because it didn't end - the story just stopped... There were still so many story lines that needed to be tidied up. What about the honor Ye Xian brought upon himself and his family? What of the death of Chen Yan Yun's personal attendant and Qing Pu's reaction? What of the aftermaths of Fu Hai Lian's death? What of Fu Hai Lian's conspirators in the court? What about Chen Yan Yun's reunion with his family who thought him dead? What of the proper reunion between Yan Yun and Jin Zhao that isn't just him saving her from the fire?
I wanted so much more from the show that what that ending had to offer, and it's such a shame, because up until that point the show had been a 10/10 for me.

Some real incidents I think the show takes inspiration from
There are some incidents in the show that seem inspired by real life events that happened in Sk.As a big true crime fan the middle schoolers episode where they take of with a car is inspired by a real case where a bunch of middle schoolers driving a stolen car hit a man and when taken to the police station were taking photos and even posted them to seem cool.
Another was the elementary school teacher incident which I think is inspired by Hanuel a 7 year old being unalived by her own school teacher who was trying to self exit due to poor mental health and other incidents of parents abusing their power were also the inspiration.
The show does not explicitly confirm anything so it's just my opinion. You can take it like a grain of salt.
Otherwise a very good show and keeps you emotionally engaged with the stories almost relating to them.

In the sea of medicore BLs, this was a highlight for sure!
Normally this would be the "ideal" manga to be announced for an anime, but lucky for us, we got a live action! It feels like an anime, with all the sillyness, but on the other hand the MLs were so incredible good and believable. As I have mentioned it the Fukami review, this actors did go the extra mile to embody their characters without any doubts about it. And of course they did not shy away from kissing and having tasteful NC-scenes.Production was also top notch. Edit: MDL removed episode 10 and says it only has 9... hmmm.... I guess they split the special on an extra page - which is stupid, but whatever. So I will wait in anticipation for the special. 🤣
Because there is nothing to rant about, I will keep this review short. This was especially entertaining, fluffy with the right amount of drama inbetween, the ideal BL imho. I definitively recommand this to everyone!

Epic drama of the half year 2026
I have finished all 25 episodes because it just released 25, lol. A warning. If you are fans of the original novel, i'm so sorry because it's totally different. I think the novel's fans should try it as a whole new story having the same name of the novel characters. It is easier to accept it. I could say both novel and this drama are great in their own ways. The plot has been really good up until now. It's not like any dramas nowadays. The characters are built so dynamic, everyone has their own stories and secrets. It's a slow-burn drama, everything has been appealing day by day, episodes by episodes. I have to re-watch a lot to confirm my guesses, to please my curiosity and feel more about the schemes of the female lead. There was a scene making me confused because I don't know if it was the female lead's move or not (no spoil here, you need to watch with me,lol). Although it's epic, in my point of view, there will be many people find it too slow and boring. If you are chasing a high intensity drama immediately at the beginning, I think it's not. It takes time to feel the beat. This drama is a beautiful art piece to me. I believe it's worth watching and re-watching. I may edit the reviews after watching more episode because there's still 15 episodes to go.Was this review helpful to you?

I gave Tiger and Crane a try
Tiger and Crane sets out to deliver a mystical xianxia adventure, but for me, it fell short in several key areas. While I usually enjoy stories with an overpowered male lead, the narrative choices here felt inconsistent. One glaring example was assigning a critical mission to a weak cultivator—a decision that undermined the stakes and made the plot feel contrived rather than compelling. The series leans heavily into xianxia tropes, which may appeal to genre enthusiasts but didn’t resonate with me. The mystical jargon and cultivation arcs felt repetitive, and the character dynamics lacked nuance. The person who initially stole the red pearl, for instance, behaved in ways that seemed illogical—ignoring the refined garments of others and failing to recognize the significance of traveling with guards. These choices suggested a lack of survival instincts, which weakened the believability of the story.
Stylistically, the show also missed the mark. The OST and intro felt too modern, clashing with the traditional fantasy setting and failing to create the immersive atmosphere I expected. On a visual level, I wasn’t a fan of some of the male leads’ hairstyles, which distracted from the overall presentation and made certain characters harder to take seriously.
To its credit, the production values are polished, and the world-building shows ambition. However, strong visuals cannot compensate for narrative inconsistencies, mismatched music, and stylistic choices that detract from immersion.
Verdict: Despite its technical strengths, Tiger and Crane doesn’t align with my preferences. I will not be continuing.

Best BL series of this year
I just finished watching Double Helix, and honestly, this has become one of the best BL series I’ve ever seen.
Was it toxic at times? Absolutely. But that’s exactly what made it feel real.
What I loved most about this series is that it didn’t try to sell us a fantasy version of life where everyone is accepting, every relationship is perfect, and love magically fixes everything. Instead, it tackled real issues that so many people face every day—homophobia from family members, mental health struggles, bipolar disorder, heartbreak, trauma, and the complicated reality of loving someone when life keeps getting in the way.
Not every parent is supportive when their child comes out. Not every relationship is smooth. Sometimes people break up, make mistakes, hurt each other, grow apart, and find their way back together years later. Double Helix wasn’t afraid to show those uncomfortable truths, and that’s what made it so powerful.
And can we talk about the acting?
Ayden and Elio absolutely delivered. Every cry, every breakdown, every moment of pain, love, anger, and vulnerability felt authentic. I wasn’t watching actors perform I felt like I was watching real people living through these experiences. The emotional scenes hit hard because they were portrayed with so much honesty and depth.
I laughed with them, cried with them, got frustrated with them, and celebrated with them. That’s the mark of truly great acting and storytelling.
The chemistry between these two was incredible, and I genuinely hope we get to see them partnered together in more projects. They have gained a lifelong supporter in me.
Double Helix reminded me that love isn’t always pretty, life isn’t always fair, and relationships aren’t always simple but that’s exactly what makes them meaningful.
Beautifully written. Beautifully acted. Beautifully human.
10/10. Highly recommended.

Watching and dropping tips
For the reviews that said watch with fast forward, I'm on your side (Fast forward to 1,5 and will never regret or got severe headache).- I give the story 3,5 star. 3 star just for the interesting plot, 0,5 for the bad story writing.
- All actors and actresses really brings good acting at miserable characters. It's good but it's rage baiting.
- I don't really pay attention to the music, so... It's just okay.
- Will never rewatch it.
Female Lead so weak that I want to slap her trough screen
All stupid parents and people for they wrong decission (especially FL for real)
The ML was handsome tho, but he was jerks several times
This is the definition of milking episodes, takes too much scenes and decisions, full of stupid people mocking eachothers. I believe I can say this is 50% filler.
The story soo long that 1 answer tooks several episode.
I really want to drop this drama but I can't leave my question unanswered. Too bad there's no highlights on internet.

One of the Most Must Watch!
It's been quite a while since I've felt this completely hooked on a modern slice-of-life drama. Honestly, I have really missed the warm, comforting vibes of series like Go Ahead and Go Go Squid. Those shows set the bar so high for modern storytelling, and for a long time, nothing quite hit that same sweet spot. But then, here you are, Dazzling. At its core, this drama focuses on simple, daily stories, but the execution is just so incredibly good. It captures the essence of everyday life, friendship, and romance in a way that feels utterly refreshing and deeply relatable. The pacing allows you to actually connect with the characters instead of rushing from one dramatic plot point to the next.
I really have to say this: Chinese producers seriously need to produce more series exactly like this one! Don't get me wrong, I know the industry loves to focus heavily on Wu Xia and Xianxia epics with flying swords and massive CGI battles, but we desperately need more high-quality URBAN dramas. There is a huge global audience craving these heartfelt, modern stories that deal with real-world emotions, cozy aesthetics, and actual human situations.
And of course, we have to talk about the absolute standout: Li Yun Rui. His performance in this is just—no debate—so, so good. He brings so much natural charisma and depth to the screen, effortlessly stealing every single scene he is in. His acting feels incredibly grounded, making his character so easy to root for. The chemistry he shares with the rest of the cast feels completely organic, elevating the entire viewing experience. Even the cinematography and the soundtrack perfectly complement the cozy atmosphere of the show. It's the kind of series you can watch to unwind after a long, stressful day, knowing it will consistently leave you with a smile on your face.
If you are on the fence about starting a new series, consider this your ultimate sign. You guys absolutely have to watch this! It is the perfect blend of cozy, engaging, and beautifully acted. Don't miss out on this modern gem—highly, highly recommended!

Immersive Atmosphere, Uncertain Destination
This drama was a mixed bag for me. I loved the atmosphere and the way it focused on building a distinct mood. In many ways, it reminded me of an indie film, which is a style I grew up watching in the U.S. I’ve always appreciated the unique storytelling found in independent productions. Rather than relying on glossy, action-packed sequences or casting performers based on popularity alone, indie films often depend on strong acting and genuine performances to carry the story. They also tend to place a great deal of emphasis on aesthetics, making them an essential part of the storytelling formula. The result is a narrative that blends fiction with a sense of real life. While watching this drama, I often felt as though I was witnessing real events unfold. I felt immersed in the storytelling, as if I were observing the lives of ordinary people rather than fictional characters. I also loved the rawness of the camerawork and the industrial feel of the setting. Together, these elements created a rich backdrop that strengthened the overall narrative.
However, I felt the story became less coherent near the end. I have my own theories about what happened, but I’m not entirely sure whether my interpretation is correct because the central event that drives the entire drama is never fully revealed. We receive clues and scattered pieces of information throughout the story, and viewers can connect those dots to form their own conclusions, but nothing is ever explicitly confirmed. Because of that, I felt somewhat let down. I invested a lot of time into the story only to reach a resolution that felt incomplete, leaving me wondering whether the journey had ultimately been worth it.
I don’t know how many people here watch films outside of Asian cinema, but I tend to watch movies from a variety of countries, including France. The best way I can describe my feelings after finishing this drama is that it felt like watching a French film. The sense of existential unease that many French films leave me with can be overwhelming. Even when their stories technically reach a conclusion, they often leave loose threads behind because the ending leaves the audience with lingering emotions and questions. That is exactly how I felt when this drama ended.

Not Original but Adorable
While the storyline may not ve original in nature the actors/actresses kept the story fresh and interesting. The child actor was adorable and did very well as well.I do wonder about the "friend." Did she think she could go on lying forever? Did she not think about the fallout? Are all the green tea/villianous women delusional or is it specific to chinese vertical dramas?
Also, why didnt the ML look into whether or not the girl was the really the right woman before he started spending millons on her? IDk for people in the finance sector you would think they would be more money savvy and protect their investments...
