Let's observe a minute bow worth of respect for Cheng Yi's eyes (Watched all 61 EPISODES. )

Well, there are a whole lot of appraisals I have for this very beautifully woven piece of art that consolidates the typical as well as atypical Chinese Wuxia drama and its essence.

Regardless of the fact that I have been an ardent admirer of the acting prowesses of our two leads, Cheng Yi and Yang ZI who gave us a mouthful chunk of brilliance in one of their previous sensational and critically acclaimed independent movies (were the former casted unbelievably beautifully as Si Feng, alongside Yang Binguan, another breathtaking actress in Love and Redemption, and the latter, Jin Mi in Ashes of Love, alongside, De Lung), the chemistry between these two surpassed our expectations and it felt nothing short of real, there were clearly scenes that were too painful and excruciating for me to take in and it hurt for each episode tailed on the suspense flank, it was torture to wait for subsequent episodes and during those very suspense thrilled nights, I would find myself imagining possible plots and giving explanations to the things that hurt and why they did, all in futile efforts of easing my pain. It felt so real. The suspension of disbelief reached its peak and every one of us hurt and empathized with every character.

This drama is the quintessence of a well invested in, choreographed and directed drama, all things were done perfectly. I can reference this fact to the BTS (Behind the scenes ), a very beautiful and unburdening series.

The drama is rich and sopping-wet with themes that are well exemplified through a beautiful interrelated complexity of plots and storylines and the aboveboard chemistry among the casts. The well emphasized themes are love, sacrifice, and responsibility.
The OSTs are perfect and I listen to them every time, particularly, Agarwood sung by Jane Zhang and Jason Zhang.
Listening to the OSTs are no different from watching those scenes that hurt.

This is a drama I will never be weary of watching.
I am rewatching this drama of 61 episodes for the third time and watched and rewatched hundreds of clip-scences.

A pretty solid drama, with lots of sweet moments.

First, pls ignore the low ratings and poor reviews and watch it yourself. Its a pretty sweet drama, with simmering chemistry between the leads. It is well paced and not draggy atall. I did skip some scenes , most of the ones that Ling Cheng kept following the Gu girl like a lost puppy, it throughly irritated me, i couldnt stand it, but then towards the end his obssession was justified, so not bad atall. And the plot twist, whew! I didnt see that coming. Overall pretty good watch. I kept smiling all through. Plenty kisses too. And my God the ML is just too handsome its a crime honestly . Lol. Watch through your own lens and opinion. The 8.0 rating is well deserved.
I don't know how My girl ZLS does it. She just pulls out the chemistry in who ever she is paired with, not matter the age, or genre. She is just too good. I watch any drama she acts in doesn't matter the ratings, i know she would flesh out her character so well.

Cute relatable dating show

Comparison to the US Version:
As someone who has seen the american version I can tell you its very similar to the US version in terms of setting. However it feels a little softer and more innocent in a way. I personally enjoyed it more than the american version.

Relationships:
The interactions and conversations were wholesome and it felt very real. Compared to other japanese dating shows I already watched, the contestant didn't came across like they were the usual reality TV characters which I liked. However this might be a point where other people would say that it makes it less interesting than other shows.

I would definitely recommend the show if you want something nice to watch that is both romantic but also feels real.

one of the most amazing historical dramas out there

Oh how long it’s been since we got this kind of dramas back. I was sick of the historical rom-coms China gave us in the last two to three years. Unrealistic, boring and missing literally everything we actually watched historical dramas for.
I really missed the heart wrenching feeling I get while watching these kind of dramas.
With Love Like The Galaxy we finally got what we wanted for a very long time. The amazing storyline had its depth, the characters were beautifully written and don’t get me even started about the romance of the main leads. *chef’s kiss*
After being obsessed with The Long Ballad I was shocked when I saw both Zhao Lusi and Leo Wu to be in this drama together AS MAIN LEADS. Never thought my impossible feeling ship had finally sailed.
Lusi and Leo did an incredible job here. Their characters were fabulous. I loved how loving and caring Ling Buyi was, how deeply in love he was with Cheng Shaoshang, the girl who slowly gets to be one of my favorite female leads of all time. Their characters were so different from each other, him being a ruthless general and her being a unloved child of parents who went to war for their country. The Cheng family had their own faults and mistakes, but that made them even more realistic. Their actions made sense and I often could understand why they acted like this. The same goes to the other characters. Props to the writers of this drama, we finally got a little bit away from the all-time used cliches in historical dramas. I laughed with the emperor, felt sad about the empress, was proud because of the concubine and had a love-hate relationship with most of the other characters.
The storyline had an amazing flow. Politics, history and romance were mixed together with the right amount of each. The political situation in the empire made sense and because of that the whole plot was better to understand. Even not being historically accurate, the drama still had a lot of elements of the conflicts in the past which made the drama more interesting, knowing that some of these events even happened in real life. Same can’t be said about the main couple (obviously lmao) which just reached all of my expectations. Their story developed VERY slow but it was worth it. I’m not a big fan of non-enemies-to-lovers slow burn but this one here… this one was fantastic. I loved this couple. Their chemistry was just something else. Zhao Lusi is an actress I always shipped with literally every other male actor lol. But her playing Shaoshang as the love interest of Buyi made me just swoon all the time. They were so sweet together. Such mature characters who were played by amazing actors.
The soundtracks fit this drama very well. Especially the OST at the beginning will probably have me feel really nostalgic while watching this drama again.
This means that I will rewatch the drama of course. I even started with some of the most unforgettable scenes right after finishing the drama yesterday (don’t get me even started on the arrow scene and the punishment scene omfg).
This will probably be one of my favs I will just rewatch anytime I have free time when there’s no other drama to watch. :D

I wish I met you sooner

I just want to say; ignore the complaints about the ending. Yes, it's a fictional story within the story itself. However it's a retelling of the author's love story - and it's legit the only final 20 minutes of the show. But why I say to ignore it is because the 'author' of the story has a simple message within her story - that she wished she met Jiang Yi sooner. I don't know why people were so taken aback by this when the show STARTS with her breaking up with the real Jiang Yi and then trying to write her story. Happy spoilers: The real couple end up together too, so, what's the fuss?

All in all, wonderful story. Wonderful acting. With a sweet message at the end. And guess what people? Even without that last 20 minutes, the story STILL would be fake. Because it's a show. So having something like this bothers me so little when it's based in something sweet - the story within the story is someone wishing they met the love of their life sooner. And re-watching it you can FEEL that intention. It's so sweet to me and takes nothing from the experience of watching it - because it's based on their real life romance so obviously similar things happened to them "irl."

Rant over. Wonderful and super sweet show. Once they start dating there is so little unnecessary tension between them. There's outside problems but they deal with together and it's so sweet and healthy. PLUS THE KISSES MY GOD. Ok now I'm actually done. Just watch it!!!!

Favorite Comfort

This drama put me through so much in such a short time! I have never cried nor laughed as hard as I have when I watched this lovely story. The characters were absolutely perfect; the definition of small town friends and family joining together to create their own picturesque, charming, and perfect community. This is the definition of slice-of-life, there's romance and friendship and family drama(s), but there is also the medical drama(s) even though it isn't too dramatic (like emergency issues under little to no supplies or skills)... But this drama is the absolute definition of "perfection", all around!

The characters and cast were picked so well, everyone fit together so amazingly! I really liked watching everyone rally around Yukino-san; and the interactions between Taiyo(u)-san and Saku-sensei. Their relationship to be boss and subordinate while also being best friends was something really special to watch; also, it was absolutely hilarious! The emotions and reactions of Taiyo(u)-san, Saku-sensei, and Masora-sensei really was fantastic to watch; I laughed, cried, worried and got angry during each episode.... Well, mostly laughed and cried. The feelings within this show are absolutely tangible; I was scared, angry, worried, happy, envious, sad, and enthralled by all of the immense and intense emotions and connections this show portrayed!

The music really helped to lighten or dramatize the moment. The music either chimed in or quietly came to a stop at just the right moment. I believe the music really helps build up a story, or it can tear it apart; even without car chases and explosions, the music really created a wonderful chemistry for everyone.

I really liked watching the villagers come together as a very tight knit community, and grow as their own person or as co-workers or friends, during each episode. To watch all the hard work everyone (staff, camera people, director, writers, producers, actors/actresses, etc) put in to the show come to life was so immaculate and depicted the perfection of raw, genuine humanity, kindness, and love. A very heartwarming, bittersweet, honest, unique story full of talent and fantastic imagination, knowledge, and respect for the human condition -- no matter what!

This show is an instant classic and my absolute favorite! Please do not skip this absolute diamond of a story!

It's a military/history fantasy soap

If you're here for a love story, it's a hard pass. The visuals are beautiful, production did a great job with the visuals and creation of the show, the actors look great and do such a great job considering the storylines, but the failures are deeply in the writing of the story. Seriously, who wrote this? What genre even is this?

They spend a good part of the first set of episodes trying to tell a backstory about the varying kingdoms, side plots developing the importance of certain sects, trying to garner sympathy for these family turmoils, but they do it in such a way that feels both rushed and underdone. I was so bored by the time they tried to explain all of this stuff out, and never really felt they developed the main leads in a way that makes you feel like they're a main part of the story. The writers have to rely on just saying the main leads have known each other for years so you miss out on how they actually progress into love, getting to know them, their chemistry, etc. Their relationship just sort of happens and it feels like it happens fast and over coincidentally (like really, of all people, he is found in the water by her? It'd make sense the other way around considering he actually had people following her but in all of this open water of all people and of all boats.. really?) What were the catalysts that changed their relationship to one of romance?

and they incorporate these really overused romance tropes of skinship and romance without understanding how and why those tropes can actually be exciting in other shows and how they can be used successfully. They don't understand why shows often include a second love interest, whether its because the guy is also a heartthrob that makes you want to root for them too, or maybe the guy creates conflict for the main leads. The secondary love interests are just, not even there for either side. Like they are, but they really aren't? I guess they were supposed to be but the writers didn't understand how to incorporate them?
Ex: They set up this whole story of going to the kingdom to win back the kings trust and win over this girl's hand in marriage and all of this storyline doesn't really make sense, but they try really hard to make it sound like they're all being smart in their decisions and calculating. We need to do this to win back the kings trust so we have to pass these tests but also not fail? And the main female lead just helps without any tugs on her heart of, I don't know, this is wrong and stupid, like why? They start to mention like this woman had always kind of liked Feng Langxi but then don't explore it and it feels kind of stupid that they even bring up that past in the first place. These side characters and this whole idea of a contest to win a girl's hand, ... could have been so good, had it been a romance drama and developed in a way that makes literally any sense.

The main leads don't have chemistry. I mean they kind of do, but like, it just felt really forced. Their characters and connection just aren't given the time or energy needed to make their love connection worth pining for. There's too much other stuff going on.

If we're comparing the show to a dessert, the love story is the cherry on top, the actual dish isn't even a dessert (romance). You see the cherry and get excited for sweets and all you taste are mashed potatoes. Why do they present the dish like a dessert when it isn't even that? Does the cherry even go there?
Before I keep going, can I just say for another example on character development, the writers spend a lot of time trying to make really crappy characters seem decent, and a lot of really dumb characters seem smart. For example, the first prince, they try to make you feel sorry for him but he kills innocent people just for finding out about his illness, beats staff, and then cries about his pathetic existence a good portion of the beginning of the show.. when all you really want to do is see the leads develop a love line.
Also, they have so many plot set ups that would be great potentials for love conflicts and development that get largely overlooked. The mystery surrounding their identities could have been a huge one, but it gets glazed over and you wonder why it was even included in the first place. Another example? The main female character is supposed to be a carefree spirit, but all she does is get entangled in war and leadership without any pushback. The characters are flat, and lack needed dimension and, well, character. Everything needs to be explained, and you realize it has to be, because otherwise it's entirely nonsensical. The explanations themselves, hardly help.

The usurp was comical at best. So much soap.

Refeshing part: The female lead is meant to be powerful, beautiful, and smart. I liked that she kept her own and that there aren't really conflicts between the female characters over a guy and that instead they become friends. That was super refreshing. I also liked that she 'doesn't suddenly lose her powers' due to sacrifice and stupidity.. but of course they add in a subplot that she dies and is revived, and dies again and is revived (eye roll) and that the male lead sacrifices his powers just to appease his horrible father... but then gets them back and then again his life... There's little redemption and reasoning on these side plots too, and really frustrating to watch.. why are some of them even included? Because the show is so visually appealing otherwise and you just keep hoping it's going to get better but it just drags on. By the time the leads actually get together, it feels like it happened way too late but also in some ways, way too fast. Like they skip the sweet developments between them and they're just kissing and sitting on one another's lap and that's not a big deal since they need to trick someone but.. I just, didn't feel like the writers understood why these romance tropes are even used, why they can be exciting to watch, or how to really make a romance based story. It didn't feel like a genre the writers even understand, so I'm not sure why they even mask this story as such. It is really not a love story, it really is not a romance genre.
Don't even get me started on the end. So stupid.
I guess at least they made the visuals appealing? It's literally the only reason I've continued trying to watch. So much potential just lost in bad storytelling. It's a shame.
Skip this if you want a love story. Actually skip this if you want, well, anything. I don't understand why they even made this show. Who is the target audience? What genre is this? What is the point in this story?

Again, here we go with the scriptwriters favourite, the body swap. Occuring inbetween a boy and girl. It's all very funny & cute, of course until the sweet innocent girl needs to pee for the first time. Then, she'll have to get acquainted with the boy's "thingy" no matter what.

For a romance, this theme usually is of a low use because any romance progress a person can make during such body swap is with someone either the wrong sex, or wrong orientation, after they swap back, lol. The longer runtime it goes on, the more you'll start questioning whether it will still work, and kinda wish they'd just switch back soon. Even here, where we have just the fangirl trying to be a "well wisher" for somebody else, we face a dilemma. I guess it's never easy to write this kind of stories.

Also, from the audience point of view, we can barely appreciate how cute the girl is, if we have to watch First Kanaphan most of the screentime. Occasionally, there are short moments when they show us the girl instead of him, like they are trying to save the given scene after all (else how "romantic" can a boy look with his brother?:) but it's not enough.

On the other hand, what's too much is the final conclusion. We get to know why only one participant of the switch was awake after the body swap. I said this watching 'Notification' series and I'll say it again: Death is a too dark a theme for a fluffy fantasy-romance show. It makes no sense that everyone learns the truth so late (while all the time they have been conversing with Angel Of Death) and it makes no sense why so much relationship development was given to the secondary character and not the main one.

The fact that somebody died is kinda even worse if someone has been parading around posing as them, for quite some time after it happened. Didn't the screenwriter realize that all the shenanigans and manipulations with other people's feelings during that time could be forgiven ONLY if the person eventually got their body back? It's not just the love interests, but also the parents and other relatives. I'd say things were no longer funny. Then again, "Angel Of Death" is someone funny on this show. Incompetent to know who died for so long, all the Angel is able to offer is the surviving person can choose which of the two bodies to stay in? Wow. Btw, I added the spoiler alert in my review because of these paragraphs, but honestly I think there should rather be "Death Of Main Character" listed in Tags.

I know it was all because they tried to engage the audience emotionally, but in truth it was dumb. In the final episode, they harrass us for a little while that even the second couple won't make it (while the victim of the first disaster is already smiling in acceptance) then at least they have their happy reunion but of course, we don't get to see the final kiss of the boy & girl in question, as this was made for BL fans, lol. What this show managed to do was that thanks to the body swap, neither gay nor straight audience got their satisfaction. I could not enjoy the "romantic climax" where the guy finally wins the heart of his girl, but he has to kiss his brother (and then bury his dead body). But who cares (the girl's actress was probably underage and so she wasn't onscreen much) we then have a sweet voiceover to give us magazine-like moral advice, and we're back to fluff and jokes. I found the "wise message" of this series worthy of a smirk and the same goes for the humour... About the most funny about it was the loud "Eh?" the main girl/boy tended to utter when really surprised, lol.

In the end, one character died but else everyone is happy and the main heroine is back to the same stupid online writing as before, lol.

Warm hearted Tofu beary

Every thing about this series is good. It you start watching it you feel like you are watching some Disney fairy tale! The visuals, ost and background music are amazing. Each character has their own preference and Even side characters are described nicely. This is not some lovey dovey BL or some random BL with NC or steamy kiss scenes! But you will regret if you don't watch this series! This series contains every thing and you can see a good chemistry between tofu and nut and also other couples! there are cute kiss scenes and a little more!
Because of this series, I started to assume again that non-living things too have life! During childhood, I used to talk with my Plush toys(teddybear & mickey mouse) and I always wished god to make them alive! Unfortunately they only listen to my words but can't express their feelings! This series has really brought my imagination back! I love this series very much!
This series is a BL which they took in thai lakorn style!
Ending is kinda sad but still satisfied with that ending! Tofu is back! Even though he can't talk /walk/eat/express his feelings anymore, still he is nut's favorite! This is not a random BL we watch but it is scripted in more creative way with perfect ending! Nut got his past love which he lost due to circumstances! Tofu remained as a miracle that occupied a place in everyone's heart surrounded by him! Everyone thinks that tofu died and it's a sad ending! but one thing we should know that tofu is a teddy bear from the start and he came to nut because of tatharn's yearning towards nut! So it's a good ending for tofu to became a teddy bear again! Tofu represented the true meaning of love. No matter what, Nut have tofu to count on and also in future tofu will be there cheering for nut. Here I liked the unconditional love of both tofu and tatharn, they both love nut deeply! Miracles do happen in every one's life and it's a gift from our devotion towards our work/loved ones/ our life! When we have an unwavering, unbreakable and unparalleled fondness and devotion for our loved one's then extraordinary events may occurs into our lives too! I wish everyone gets their own tofu into their lives!
Watch this series without thinking about ending, then you may not get hurt and will like the ending too!

A masterpiece!

This cdrama is superb. I could feel the intensity of emotions in this drama that I also feel what they feel. The adrenaline rush is affecting me. I felt like I was also inside the scene experiencing it at the same time even if I'm just watching it on screen. This Cdrama deserves a recognition. Everything is perfect. I think it's unique. Cdrama never disappoints me.
Kudos to the production crew, the director, actors and actresses for a job well done.
Hoping to see Jinmai and Jingting together again in their next Cdrama project.

Not the best remake, but it was enjoyable enough.

This remake is quite different from the original one. I LOVED the original one, so I thought of giving this one a watch. At first I had some doubts because the story's focus has changed a lot. This one focuses more on the romance storyline between Kenta and Koume and less on the relationship between father and daughter. And I kinda feel bad about the last part. The biggest change would be that we see a lot less of what goes on in Kyoichirou's workplace. All we see is Koume in Kyoichirou's body making TikTok videos in his office. Also, for some reason, they brought an original character: Kenta's female childhood friend into the mix, which I thought was unnecessary They also focus less on the story of how they swapped bodies and instead add the part of Kyoichirou and Kenta swapping bodies right before the end. And that part felt a bit rushed since there was only an episode left at that time to wrap things up. So it would have been better if the drama was longer so that they could execute those storylines properly.
As a plus point, I loved how they incorporated some modern things into the story like social media, smart phones and stuff. That was certainly a refreshing change.

The acting was good. Everyone played their parts properly. I wish Koume was in her body for a bit longer so that the romance scenes between Koume and Kenta would be a lot less weird and we wouldn't have to listen to Kyoichirou's inner thoughts every time. Nagao Kento did a great job playing the male lead and I think he has improved since the last time I saw him in the Homestay film. This is my first time seeing Iinuma Ai's acting and I think she delivered just fine.

The music was also a big deal here. They added a super cute (which isn't really my thing, to be honest) J-pop theme song as the OP and I kinda wish I heard it less frequently. But it fits the romance theme in the drama. So maybe it's not right for me to complain too much. The ending song on the other hand was easier for me to listen to. It was slower and sweeter in my opinion.
In the end, I still like the original one better. But overall, if I think of this as a sweet quirky rom-com(and not think of it as a remake), it was pretty entertaining. Give it a try if that's your thing or if you want to see one of the leading actors in this drama.

Funny

I’m really enjoying this series. The ultrasound appointment scene is hilarious!
My review must be 500 characters?!?
This show is great so far
This show is funny
All the actors are great. It makes me sad that this series has a low rating. I really like this show. I really don’t like to write a novel when writing a review. I like to get straight to the point and end it. But no I have to at least have 500 characters.
Conclusion-I this this is a funny show and I really enjoy it
