Dull with an overly sweet and unrealistic romance
I usually am a sucker for this genre but a few things here werent working for me. Firstly, the cases just werent interesting.Secondly, i couldnt really stand the leads after awhile. The FL comes off dull and lacking in any type of emotions. Her "im so kind n smart n self righteous" schtick got really boring after awhile. This is my first time watching li landi and i didnt find her very charismatic. Ao ruipeng was no better. His character seemed 2 dimensional, actually both of them were very 2 D and he seemed to exist just to serve the FL. He saves her from all sorts of ridiculously dangerous situations. The romance - ugh more than 50% of the shows focus was on the romance and even that was dull. Perfect, sweet and overly cloying. Neither of them seemed to have any faults and he was practically a simp for her from day 1. There wasnt any tension, they never quarrelled.. just nothing. While the actors has rapport i didnt feel much chemistry and their scenes were quite contrived.
Overall quite a disappointing watch.

The Ultimate Office Romance
Why on earth is Song Weilong not in the first 4 episodes?! My favorite part of school dramas has always been the dormitory friendships. School is over, and now she has started sharing a room with her coworkers. Also, the post-graduation job hunt and her starting out at the company were so inspiring and beautiful. I guess this is exactly the kind of life I dream of. (Especially the job fair thing—it was the first time I've ever heard of it, and I think it’s a brilliant concept.)In Episode 5, at 33:00, one of the girls says the female lead misinterprets everything. Seriously, since the first episode, she has been looking at everything from the most wrong and ridiculous perspective possible.

In Episode 5, at 34:25, she prepares an Excel sheet for Yu Sen. This is literally my life. For the first time, I am seeing so many things I dream about all together in one drama. (I got so excited!)

Episode 9, 20:30 – "My coworker jumped off the building."
I don't know if it's because I have an interest in and a fascination with Chinese corporate life, but I absolutely love the office scenes.
Episode 9, 21:34 – "What if I forget my wallet and make Mr. Lin pay for the whole meal?"
Episode 9, 23:30 – "Nie Xiguang, I forgot my wallet." (That was such an unexpected line from a big boss playing a serious role.)
Episode 9, 24:45 – He accepts the compliments as if he paid the bill himself. XD
Episode 21, 35:40 – "Even though you are a total troublemaker, leaving these little snowmen of yours behind on Changbai Mountain breaks my heart." "It’s okay, you are taking their creator with you."
In Episode 27, at 06:10, the female lead's uncle's impression was hilarious. He is one of my favorite characters in the drama. In the previous episode, he sent a photo of the main leads to his wife just to ask for pocket money. XD
In Episode 29, the female lead's mother mentioning that she had some regrets after the divorce shows that she isn't a hollow or shallow character. Instead of just filling herself with anger and acting purely out of spite, she calmly thinks and does what is best for herself. Most characters in dramas lack this kind of depth; they usually just think based on pure logic, saying, "Okay, it's over, now I must look ahead." But in this drama, the characters are written with both logical and emotional foundations. I really liked that.

In Episode 31, at 35:00, Yu Sen didn't even look at the female lead as long as he stared at that lobster!
In Episode 32, at 25:25, Yu Sen kissing Xiguang on the cheek to check if she has a fever, and their hug at 44:44 were so sweet. <3

Takahashi is great
The reason I watched this was because I needed more from this actor after binging on Kishibe Rohan. This series is very addicting- I watched 6 episodes in one day. And the rest of the episodes started coming in like a slow drip.Takahashi has this quality where he can be overly confident and borderline narcissistic while having a big heart of gold underneath. His performance soars above the others, and my ratings here reflect primarily on his performance, (the others were entirely forgettable even though many are familiar faces from other dramas I’ve seen). I think this is innate to the actor’s personality and so he can portray a broad depth of characters. Neo and Eito seem like opposites but are really two sides of the same coin. Even as Neo who is supposed to be overly driven and narcissistic and selfish, you can see the kindness in him underneath all of it. There is a vulnerability in him even in that role, and how underneath the bravado there is sadness and loneliness underneath. To see how that mind or soul adjusts to life as Eito is really interesting because out of necessity he builds compassion within himself, which was already there in him in seed form. Leave it to Takahashi to make you feel empathy for his character, seeing a deeper dimension in it, even when he’s playing a supposed a-hole. I noticed this even in Nagi’s Long Vacation and thought, “Wow this guy is brilliant.”
The story reminds me of The Family Man, where the first version of the main character is a high flying executive businessman who puts his relationship with some chick on the back burner, and he gets transported by a magical moment to have a glimpse into a different life where he had chosen the female over his career. He wakes up in a brood of kids and his wife- they’re poor, but happy and have hearts of gold. The businessman is painted as a arse, while the poor man with the wife and kids is painted as a saint where “real happiness” lives. To me the second life surrounded by buffoons looked like hell- and endless loop of the same old boring family characters crowding the scene with their needs and wants, and behaving in foolish, ignorant, and trashy ways, calling it happiness. This is the same virtue signaling I see in Reborn- the idea that poor people have hearts of gold and the rich like Neo are scum. But Neo has a good heart. If you look closely, the poor ones in Eito’s life are just as sinful, selfish, egotistical, money hungry, and greedy as the rich folk, sometimes even more so. The only thing is it is all mixed in with foolishness, sentimentality, and ignorance in business so they look even more ridiculous. And Sarasa making her ridiculous comments to her money hungry dad Kinpei San who lost their shopping street’s entire savings with bad stock investments, like “Maybe it’s good that you lost all that money, because I like seeing you working hard!” What? What kind of ridiculous nonsense is that? But when Neo offers a very fair deal to by up their shopping street and secure their futures with a lucrative relocation package in the name of “For the People” which he offered to pay 5 times the original amount, but the shopping street people are in an uproar because they “Don’t want to leave their home” and some sentimental nonsense even though they blew all their savings in some stock market fraud and have no customers left- but they have to blame everything on the rich CEO guy because “He must be bad and we need someone to blame for our problems even though we blew all of our savings which came from Eito who is really the mastermind of Neo so we should actually be doubly thankful to Neo.”
The fools of Akari shopping street are painted in a kind of saintly idealistic light as if they have hearts of gold when they are just ignorant, pompous, arrogant, greedy, and prideful for no good reason. They freely take Eito’s help, but constantly sabotage their success and go off drinking or harming themselves (ie Kinpei) whenever they have problems without regard to their families that they claim to care about. Kinpei starts getting drunk everyday in the name of bonding and sentimentality and eventually causes himself and the family the ultimate harm which is just an ego image of “We’re good people unlike that horrible Neo!” Again virtue signaling. Kinpei getting drunk shamelessly in front of his daughter while telling Eito useless old stories about Sarasa in diapers while she smiles on is not bonding or love, but dysfunction, coping, and addiction wrapped in sentimentality. Sentimentality is NOT true love or honorable or virtuous. Kinpei commits suicide and the whole family blames it on Neo, instead of understanding that every person is accountable and must take responsibility for their own actions. Neo didn’t kill Kinpei- Kinpei drank himself to madness and killed himself. He must be held responsible instead of blaming it on Neo and attempting to murder him. Taking their anger out not on Kinpei’s foolishness, but on Neo and other people who have nothing to do with Kinpei’s self destruction (he was known to drink too much even when Sarasa was a child and this fate was inevitable for him regardless of the situation). None of the fools on Akari shopping street understand the mind of Neo/Eito and even though he grows to love them or whatever, he remains set apart from them and an outsider. He is the only kind soul in that Akari Shopping street group that has any integrity. The shopping street fools never properly thank him or understand the gravity of how much he has constantly helped them.
Eiji (Eito’s father) tries to keep all the fools chained to his failing ridiculous shopping district for the sake of “memories” or sentimentality, which is nothing but stupidity and senseless attachment to material things and has no honor in it. Clutching to a dying shopping street business for what?
The croquette lady says this dialogue to Eiji following Kinpei’s second round of suicide: “Maybe it’s time to stop forcing your feelings on others. Everyone wants to stay. But if we stay, we’ll all die in the gutter. Face reality, Eiji. To survive, sometimes, you have to let something go…. (These younger guys).. they still have a future! How long will you keep them tied to this place? They’ll go along with you because they’re good, foolish people. Can you take responsibility for their lives? Our memories will live on in our hearts. We can dream of the day we come together again. Isn’t it time we let go?” This is probably the most sensible line of dialogue that came out of Akari shopping street. Finally someone had sense knocked into them. Though they pat themselves on the back for being “good foolish people,” there is nothing good or inherently righteous about being foolish and sentimentally attached to a dying business.
Eito’s father is truly a piece of work. Speaking of zero integrity, he blows all of Eito’s psychic prediction money that was supposed to be used to pay off their debts and instead bought himself a flashy suit and a watch and plunged them deeper into debt. How is that an heart of gold? “Oh but they’re just lovable family people!” No they’re not! And this father has no remorse except for an ugly sad expression as if he deserves pity for his own greed. And they somehow declare themselves saintly and virtuous compared to the rich guys. It’s abominable. The “low income” characters in the story are just as flawed and sinful or even more so than the rich ones, but the rich are blamed even when they do good. The poor just haven’t had the chance to play out their dysfunctional tendencies on a grander scale like the rich- just give them a lottery win and see what happens. They’ll blow it all in a few months. We all know how that turns out. People simply act according to their roles, and are mostly sinful creatures. It’s only the one that has true self awareness and conscious presence (aka Neo & Eito) who are the outsiders and can see the whole situation from a bird’s eye view beyond their role
So in the end, it was just as I had expected, Neo and Eito had switched places, and each was living and playing the role of the other. In Neo’s position, the soul is lonely and tries to do good from a distance while maintaining his position and ambition, and in Eito’s position the soul is kind and surrounded by ignorant buffoons but is apparently not lonely. My favorite scene of the entire series was the conversation between Eito and Neo in switched bodies (I increased my rating just for that scene)- it was truly a sight to see- but they had so much more to talk about! Like how they came from the same mother and are actually brothers or twins (?). But the new Neo just left it like that and Eito dies.. But that was Eito’s script- he fulfilled that role and exited the stage. For people saying it was an unsatisfying ending, each character on the stage has a role, events, etc and an exit time. Once that role is done, it’s done. I’d say it made sense- it’s not like any of the characters would live forever- and according to that Eito script and role, he was meant to die soon. So he played it out and bowed out of the stage. Interestingly enough, the original Neo (in Eito’s body) had intended to die/fall down the stairs to his death, and it ended up happening except in Eito’s body. Anyways, I like the open mysterious ending. I don’t need to figure everything out. A little mystery is nice. I don’t know who the baby is and I don’t care that much, although there are some interesting suggestions that it is Old Neo/Old Eito coming back into the baby’s body lol.. will it use its memories to ace its way through life? Who knows? Reborn the sequel! With that said, perhaps Old Neo/New Eito that died actually attained enlightenment (ego death) and doesn’t need to be reborn back into the cycle of samsara due to his high integrity and compassion he had developed in his Eito life, that basically surrendered the ego. That would be the best outcome of all.
Speaking of body swap dramas, Takahashi’s own drama Heaven and Hell: Soul Exchange is an awesome one!
ULTIMATE SPOILER QUESTION: If the original Neo intended to commit suicide by falling down the stairs himself with no murderer (as was suggested by the Neo vs Eito conversation), then why when he goes into Eito’s body does he spend the entire series trying to answer the question “Yo who pushed me?!” He keeps making it into a murder from the beginning, but if he had meant to fall down the stairs on his own, wouldn’t he remember that he was on a suicide mission? What’s going on there?

The Best Comedy, Romance, and Chemistry
After a long hiatus from K-dramas, I’ve returned to them because this drama is airing and it’s a huge hit—their chemistry is so natural, their height difference is funny, the style in the drama is great, and they both look amazing. Despite the controversy, I’m really enjoying this drama; it makes me smile, and the comedy is spot-on.The behind-the-scenes footage is so funny—they’re clearly having a blast filming this drama and aren’t holding back at all, even though they’ve only just reunited after 10 years. No matter what the haters say, you two are the best at supporting each other, right? Stay friends and see you again in 2035 hahaha. Hopefully, before 10 years pass, you can star in a drama together again or appear on a variety show together. Hope you both stay healthy, okay?

This is possibly the funniest chinese vertical drama that I have ever seen. The story centers around two best friends who get sucked into a book. The sisters fall in love with the MLs only to be abandoned and then die in the wilderness. Determined not to die like in the book the duo decide to ditch the boys first by running away (multiple times) and taking the boys money with them. They even corrupt the grandma towards the end! Its hilarious, heart warming, and a great repeat watch! Ive never seen Wang Hao Zen and Wang Ge Ge doing comedy so this was a great surprise. Only thing that could make it better is a blooper reel and a second movie.

My May Recommendation drama
Watched this because the recommendation challenge by 𝑨𝒓𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒊Bloody Heart is a fictional historical political melodrama set during the Joseon era. + One of the most interesting power struggle between king & his ‘right hand man’
+ One of the most interesting story of love & politics intrigue
+ We don’t just have silent women who move behind the curtain.
What I not too like:
- As usual, the biggest struggle of Kdrama comes from the drama’s duration per episode.
- A little dissatisfied with the ending of queen's mother....
Overall this really one interesting political drama…

The best 2026 TV series for sure
I am positive come this December 2026, this series will most likely receive the WeTV Award for best TV series of the year.This series has history, culture, art, comedy and drama. The full cast of mature actors and of course young and children actors is amazing. What a production, even for non-Chinese to understand and to watch the evolution of Chinese opera is a gem.

So far the best thrill of 2026 drama Goldland
“Gold Land” really surprised me. Park Bo Young may have started off a bit slow in her role as Heejun, but once she found her rhythm, she was incredible. Her performance grew stronger with every episode.
But Lee Kwangsoo as Director Park? He stole the entire show for me. His presence alone made me excited for every new scene. And that fight scene — absolutely unforgettable. I’m officially a fan and can’t wait to see he’s next work.
Woogi was the chaotic, loyal friend everyone wishes they had. The whole cast delivered such strong performances from Kim heewon and moon jeong hee and lee hyun wook that it’s impossible not to appreciate each one.
I’m already planning to rewatch it with my friend this weekend.
Huge applause to Director Kim Sung Hoon and writer Hwang Jo Yoon for creating something this engaging

Beauty Resigns from Marriage (2025), aka "Beauty Says No to Marriage (2025)", is a well done fantasy rebirth revenge miniseries adapted from the web novel "Di Jie Hai Si Quan Jia, Chong Sheng Gui Lai Bang Sha Ta" by Xian Tan. The drama has Deng Chao Yuan/Aaron Deng (as Xie Gui Mo) and Yue Yu Ting (as Shen Tang) in the leading couple's role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple, although there is only one swift romantic scene at the end, had fun and meaningful encounters throughout the drama. Overall, this drama has a well written revenge storyline and a slow burn romance with a satisfying ending; enjoy it! In the meantime, you can watch the drama on YouTube: "Reborn! What a difference between story 1 and 2. Story 1 was very bad and story 2 was very good.Story 1:
The story was good, but the acting destroid it for me. The actors didn't do a good job and there was no chemistry at all between the leads. Steven Chiang was the worst, he really lacked in expressing emotions.
The visuals and music were ok.
Story 2:
Oh how i loved this story, and the good grades i gave were because of this story. The story was good, the visuals great and the music good.
All the actors did a great job. The mains had great chemistry and kisses.
I also liked the second couple, they were sweet.
I will probably rewatch the second story. But i definatly won't rewatch the first one.

I couldnt have dropped this series if I wanted to because of the ML.I was mesmorised by hisvisuals and that deep throaty voice. His mannerisms were laid back and cute. I did enjoy the series but I would love to see the ML in a more serious role as the boss of a criminal gang ..loyalty, discipline, and never showing fear — He would be perfect..We girls love badboys. The FL was perfect..shy..cute..pretty
and over excitable which was cute especially when the ML was in focus. She definately won him over because her words hurt him at times.
I am looking at other series where he is the main lead..

This is the first drama made from this case after the real serial killer of hwaseong seril murders was identified using DNA in 2019.Killer was already in jail for murder and rape of his 18 years old sister in law.I had high hope for this drama. As a long time fan of crime thrillers of korean dramas i was excited to watch this. after watching several masterpiece of korean thrillers.
the drama witj gritty 1980s film grain, the muted village color grading, the haunting music reminds the memories of murder movie 2003 was amazing, and the stacked cast of Park Hae-soo, Lee Hee-joon, and Jung Moon-sung .
So we hoped well written crime thriller ." But if you peel back that beautiful wrapping paper, the script is a total mess.
The real-life Hwaseong investigation was a tragedy of corruption , systemic error, poice and government coverups, and massive technical limitations. but The police deployed over 2 million total officers across the years, walked thousands of miles, and did endless, exhausting double-work because they lacked modern databases.
The Scarecrow completely misrepresents this to make the plot convenient. Instead of showing an overworked, overwhelmed system drowned in bad data, the script narrows the scope so much that the detectives just look incompetent and lazy, "doing nothing but going around." By reducing a massive historical tragedy into a few uninspired characters pacing around a small set, the writer stripped away the true weight of the real-world frustration.
The show sets up Kang Tae-ju as an upright, brilliant, justice-driven ace detective. Yet, the writing immediately contradicts this by making him incredibly arrogant., acts completely conceited about his own correctness, and then—when it blows up in his face—the script desperately tries to gaslight the audience into thinking "but he tried his best! Specialy the wrongfully accused ones.
Even if the detective act arrogant in some dramas like beyond evil and signal , but the narrative punishes him for it, forcing him to grow. In The Scarecrow, Tae-ju’s glaring flaws are brushed under the rug by a script that wants him to be a tragic hero without earning it.When his reckless intuition results in wrongful arrest or interrogation torture (like what tragically happens to Lee Ki-beom), the script refuses to hold him accountable.
Instead of forcing him through a brutal arc of self-reckoning—the way Han Joo-won was completely shattered and rebuilt in Beyond Evil—the writer uses cheap emotional manipulation. We are shown slow-motion shots of him crying while the music swells, forcing us to pity him. It turns a detective story into an unearned melodrama. As you perfectly stated, he became a victim of his own narrative, not a protector of justice.
When he aggressively locks down a suspect and acts like he has infallible detective instincts, he isn’t being a "genius"—he is acting exactly like the corrupt, shortcut-taking cops he is supposed to be better than.The script then tries to force the audience to pity him by screaming, "But look how hard he’s trying!" It doesn't work.
The prison cell scenes between the older Tae-ju and the serial killer (Lee Gi-hwan) are completely flat.
Tae-ju’s dialogue lacks tactical intention; he isn't peeling back the layers of a psychopath's mind. It's just two actors sitting in a room delivering slow, melodramatic lines to make the show look intellectual, without any actual substance behind the words
As a example In Through the Darkness, the dialogue in the interrogation rooms is razor-sharp—based on real psychological profiling tactics used by Kwon Il-yong. Every question has a purpose, testing the killer's ego, looking for micro-expressions. Every line of dialogue was a psychological probe into behavioral patterns, cognitive distortions, and signature motivations. In The Scarecrow, the dialogue has no strategic intention. The writer didn't know how to write a real profiler, Tae-ju doesn't sound like a trained criminologist or profiler at all; he just sounds like a standard, generic drama character having a dramatic, slow-paced conversation to fill screen time.
gritty, true-crime-inspired story about institutional failure, the writer threw in cheap K-drama soap opera tropes
The Birth Secret: Making Cha Soon-young’s identity and family background a convoluted "birth secret" in the final episodes completely cheapened the show's gritty realism.
The Sudden Accident: Throwing in a sudden, unexplained car accident for his sister with zero narrative justification or logical buildup is just lazy writing to force an emotional climax.
Lee Choon-jae was actually caught and imprisoned in 1994 for the horrific rape and murder of his own sister-in-law (his wife's younger sister). He was serving a life sentence for that specific crime when his DNA finally matched the Hwaseong cases decades later.
By straying away from the cold, chilling logic of how these crimes and people actually functioned, and replacing them with secret children, sudden car crashes, and inconsistent character behavior, The Scarecrow stopped being a high-tier crime thriller. It became a melodrama dressed up in a dark Crime thriller drama coat.
Throwing in a sudden car accident for his sister with zero proper buildup or explanation, and then dropping a convoluted "birth secret" involving Soon-young in the final episodes

i didn't wanted to cry but cried its a little sad at the ending, it's happy ending thoughstarts really good I like both FML and ml character I have to say ml more since FML is quite type doesn't do much because of her past ,ml still is bright even he is similar to her ,he disappear twice in 2 eps it felt so empty and quite I was just waiting for when he appears

the story doesn't focus on ml FML only but 3 couples total 2 sister 1 grandma , I when saw the mysterious flashback I was curious and wanted to know what happened but you know that it only in last eps so I skipped side characters parts I wasn't interested in them , and more curious about mystery
the couple is really cute feels realistic more, they got together really fast in 6 ? I wished it went more slower
what I dislike:
FML doesn't listen to him even though he did plan to tell her , he did wrong but still you should listen first i think ? i didn't like that scene and then when he disappeared she regrets ,he tried all to talk to her but the other person ruined it telling him everything was his fault
last part feels a bit unnecessary drama , I felt bad for ml bro is already sick suffering on that his gf won't talk, he is also alone ,I aslo cried during their breakup 😭

why so short? why? 16 was right length for drama why it's 12 now 😭😭😭😭? i wanted to watch more it already ended, I wanted to see main leads more there's also too much side characters parts even though their story is actually good but I wanted to see main couple more

1A dreamy royal drama with perfect chemistry
Perfect Crown was honestly such a beautiful drama. After a long time I felt like I watched a drama that had everything I love... dreamy visuals, royal elegance, emotional romance and amazing chemistry between the leads.The biggest highlight for me was definitely the main couple. IU and Byeon Wooseok’s chemistry was insane. Their scenes together were so heart-touching. Some moments felt soft and emotional while some had that strong romantic tension that made the drama even more addictive. They looked perfect together and their relationship was one of the main reasons I enjoyed the drama so much.
I also loved the atmosphere of the drama. The cinematography, royal settings and overall dreamy vibe were really beautiful. Every scene looked elegant and pleasing to watch. The drama had that fairytale-like feeling, but still kept the emotions strong and meaningful.
The plot was good. I liked the royal setting and the relationship between the main leads. Maybe the villain could have been written a little better. I personally would have liked the villain to be more reasonable or more villainous, but it was not a big problem for me. It did not ruin the drama.
The cast was perfect for their roles. Everyone matched their character well. Also need to praise the child king actor. He was really good, especially in emotional scenes and he added a lot of heart to the drama.
One small thing I would have loved to see more is comedy. Since good comedy actors like Im Chulsoo and Yoon Byunghee were there as the managers, it would have been fun if they got more comedy scenes. But this is not really a negative point, just something I personally wanted more of.
Perfect Crown was such a beautiful and satisfying drama for me. The chemistry, the visuals, the royal beauty, the emotional scenes and the cast all worked so well together. It was dreamy, romantic and really lovely to watch.

Can someone even do the same thing in real life?
i dont think the story can happen in real life with the same plot. first of all, huiju, i don't get her, she trusts the car center owner that he will help her, i think that is a risky thing thinking that he had worked before with the chairman. but throughout the story she doesn't believe woogi even until the end, that doesn't make sense, thinking she is right in the situation where she cannot believe anyone, but she deliberately reveals the true to everyone including woogi, jinman, cha yojin that she has the gold.The ending was kind of wage as she could have done the same in the start and would have live the same life. but I don't there is anything wrong with the drama because the drama itself is about the survival, struggle and thriller and less on Methodical Logical investigation.
The actors did the great job, park bo young portrayed the emotions soo on point thinking that how a real person would react in any of those situations specially in first episodes.
