Got boring

DROPPED...

So I watched like 34 or 35 eps of it out of 53. And not ngl the beginning was pretty good but it got dead around ep 20. I paused watching this like 1 or months ago thinking I'll think about it and go back. But I didn't even once. If you have seen 'princess wei yang' or ' legend of fu yao' or 'princess agents' the plot is very similar to them but not as good or highly produced I'd say. Btw I also dropped legend of fu yao cause it also got dead. princess agents does not compare to any, it is top tier! gave song of glory 6.5/10. Not recommended tbh.

I'd suggest princess wei yang and princess agents instead.

Another great series in 2021

2021 has been great in terms of Korean productions as exemplified by "Sweet & Sour" and "Move to Heaven". "Hellbound" is a series for everyone, but not everyone will appreciate it.
The title and the reactions in the series to a repeated supernatural phenomenon, gives the viewers an insight into mass psyche in front of God/the transcendent.
Then, in the middle of the series one person makes a smart remark that goes against mainstream: in reality we are facing an unexplained set of phenomena and some people are exploiting these phenomena.
The author and/or movie maker will make everything crystal clear in the last seconds of the last episode, and I won't spoil it.

Short & Sweet

The write-up said 12 episodes so I expected it to be short - not exactly this short, only 4 episodes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it., and the episodes were longer than the usual 40+ minutes. Simple story, well-played, not drawn out. Cute characters, and some good laughs just because the actors were so cute.

When you are over-binged and burnt out of the long, long dramas, This is a good refresher. I was entertained. Loved the FL's 'handmaid'. If you're looking for a one-nighter, this is it!

Sweet and simple love story

Sweet and simple love story. A bit unrealistic but it doesn't matter, it's still good entertainment. No muss, no fuss. Skipped a lot of the gaming part except the part where they met and married.

ML is the typical, dominant male. Good looking, intelligent and athletic achiever. FL is your typical pretty looking, sweet girl next door material. A bit submissive and innocent at times. Every girl wants the ML but he only liked the FL. He showed interest and swept her off her feet.

The fun fact with this one is how FL become ML's girlfriend even before they've met. How she becomes his fiancee even before he proposed.

If you're looking for a profound story to watch then this might not be for you.

Qingyu Meets Her Second Love, Mo Lingze.

A modern love story about people in the city who were busy with their careers and how they managed to keep their relationship well.

▪️Main Points
~ Two people were destined to meet and gradually fell in love. They chose to be in relationship and keep their love without disturbing their careers of each others.

▪️Opinions
~ If you're already in long relationship with your boyfriend and decided to get marry but you knew he cheated, it was better to end the relationship and move on.
~ When you was destined to meet another guy at the same time when you hurts with the past relationship, it was better to not rush into another relationship and be calm first to think on what you should do.
~ Xu Qingyu was a great worker since she always gave the best to her works and satisfied her boss with her performance. She did not gave up the tasks given and try her best to finish it.
~ She reminded herself to not rush into another relationship so she makes herself colds and arrogance. She also make sure that Mo Lingze do not come across the line that she already made.
~ The second leads were also interesting. They were a young boy and mature woman who already divorced before and wants to find another guy to fell in love. The young boy was her friend's brother and they already knew for a long time so she did not have any feeling for him and accepted him as her young brother. The boy wants to do everything for her and try to win her heart.
~ The third leads were not yet recognize their feeling since the woman liked ML first and keeps on pestering him. Their relationship were still not in progressed.
~ FL and ML were in relationship. Even they still in the earlier stage but they were so happy together. They were so sweet and have a perfect chemistry. I hoped their relationship will last long till they got married.
~ The second couple also were in relationship. They were so happy and kept their relationship from others. Even the boy was still young and not have a steady job but he was matured enough to think about their relationship. He was a bit childish but it was okay since the woman can kept remind him so that they can balance out their relationship.
~ I dislikes the drama that have clingy ex girlfriend or boyfriend. Most of the chinese drama will have this kind of plot. But to me, this kind of plot was bored. For example in this drama, Tang Xi was the one who being clingy to her ex boyfriend, Mo Lingze. She was so annoying and her dubbing voice also was really really annoyed to hear.
~ Mo Lingze should told the truth about his life to Qingyi. He left the suprise made by her with sincere heart was so bad. It was pity to make her sad just because of his trauma. But Qingyu was a good girl. She trust Mo Lingze has his own difficulty and do not argued with him.
~ It was so good to have a boyfriend who know how to paint a picture. Fang Qi was so lucky to get Xu Wei as her boyfriend. He drew her beautifully in the picture and got it hang at the exhibition.
~ No break up. I always loved the drama with no break up plot. It was so good to see they communicated their problems even they're argued and dissatisfied at first.

▪️Character Intro
~ Zhang Yuxi was a lovely and cute actress. I knew her beforehand and watched her past dramas. It was all the best especially Intense Love. Even many people said that she was not good enough in acting but to me she already do her best. She acts as Xu Qingyi who was a white collar worker. She was a determine and great worker in the company. She has an ex fiance with ten years relationship. I loved on how she dressed. It was so nice and great with her body and she looks so pretty.
~ Liu Xue Yi acts as Mo Lingze. He was a cool and gentlement guy who can easily win the woman's heart. But it was different case with Qu Xingyi since she did not care about his looks and always argued with him. Since he was interested with her first so he decides to win her heart. I always loved to see a cool and gentlement guy in the drama.

▪️Overall
As far I could see, this drama was very interesting and great for you to watch. It thought us that a long relationship doesn't always ended in a good way. It might hurt us and make us disbelieved with another relationship but do not worry as you are deserves to be happy.

For me, the plot was good and not draggy with a lot of conflicts and misunderstanding. The production make their best to edit the drama with enough episodes to show the good story of the drama.

I quite satisfied with the drama even the ending was not enough with just proposing scene. But it was already good to see the proposing scene even there was no marriage at the ended... ^,^

What Started Promising Ended Promising

Do Not Read If You Don't Want Spoilers.......
.
.
.

Before I fully begin I just want to say that all the actors in this show done a phenomenal job and they should be proud of themselves. Yoo Ahin done a really good job portraying the character Jung Jinsoo along with the other cast members in their specific roles. I remembered Park Jungmin from his role in "You're All Surrounded" so I was happy to see him again. All the staff done a great job from the cinematography to the CGI itself, it was really good.

I was originally going to rate this drama a 3 or 5 because of the way I thought Episode 6 was going to end, the first 3 episodes were very interesting and kept me watching at the edge of my seat wanting more. Then we got to episode 4 and 5. Those episodes felt the exact same, it felt like the plot wasn't going anywhere not progressing at all and very rushed due to the 6 episode limit ( they could've done with at least 3 more episodes)

Youngjae and his wife Sohyun were not very interesting nor did I have any emotional investment into them because of the brief period we were with them. The Policeman Kyunghoon's story is wasted potential unless they hopefully expand on it in a Second Season as it would be interesting to know what he has been up to in the 4 year time skip.

Then we get to Episode 6 which revived my hope for the show. When Youngjae and Sohyun died for their baby I thought to myself "Is this going to end like Possessed" and felt very disappointed. For the record I really hate the "Everyone Dies" endings, I thought I completely wasted my time on this drama getting invested only to be thoroughly disappointed in the end, I had rated the drama a 5 at this point believing that that would be the end of things and that it was going to end so predictable. That's when a scene came on that changed my opinion of the show completely and has jumped it up to a 7. This scene has created so much potential for this show that I want to watch more immediately but unfortunately I cannot. This is why you should have more faith in the screenwriter especially when they have Train To Busan on their record. If you would like to know what this scene was then please watch the show. Thank you.
What started promising, ended promising.

One additional thing I must say is that I love that recently a lot more K-Dramas are exclusively Netflix series with the Netflix money as directors and screenwriters in South Korea are free from the restrictions that cable Tv puts on them and can do more than they could when airing on a network. Nothing is really censored. It is very enjoyable when the creator has freedom of expression. If this drama were to have aired on a TvN or OCN it probably would have been really bad due to a lack of funding and censorship laws that they must abide by.

It had its flaws, but I loved it all the same (very minor spoilers)

Overall an enjoyable watch with real characters with real flaws, as the title says.

The crude humor can be a bit much at times but at a certain point in the drama they dispense with resorting to it. The rest of the time I was laughing or smiling hysterically. The jokes usually hit well, and I loved the "All by myself!" bit. In particular when any of the brothers were involved it was a good time. They played off of each other and the sister incredibly well.

I commend the actors for doing such a good job.

The FL was a bit hard to love at first. She was a fun character but was dense for quite a bit of the runtime. She kept assuming things and then getting pissed at people when she found out things weren't like she thought. It got annoying when all she had to do was ask/talk to people. However, she did have her own moral compass that she abided by (such as being protective of anyone who was Gay by making sure to not reveal their sexuality) and I grew to root for her in the end.

The ML himself was fun to watch. If you don't like childish ML's you won't enjoy him though. The SML on the other hand was incredibly difficult to root for in the slightest once his character was revealed. Yes, he did redeem himself later but I really don't like how they made him into a villain for so long. It just didn't work for me.

I must admit that the brothers stole the show often. They were all just the right amount of silly, arrogant, and/or sincere.

Finally, I would be remiss to not bring up the fantastic job this drama did at normalizing LGBT+ people. I really appreciated and liked how they had one of the brothers being Gay and working at a Gay bar be just another part of the story. It was the set for not just him but also just for his siblings and others to come by and tell their woes and other important parts of the plot to occur.

The Gay characters' stories were handled respectfully and not for the sake of laughs because of who they were but rather just the silly things they said/did. You know, like normal people. And not only that but they showed the different realities for them. Some have supportive parents but struggle because of their own self-hatred, others are completely comfortable with themselves but struggle because of their unsupportive parents and/or are worried about the judgement of everyone around them. Coming out was also treated with care and the idea of outing someone was judged by the characters as being horrible, as it should be.

This past year I got to witness a mainstream drama, Nevertheless, include a Lesbian Romance with one of their side couples and show how representation could be easily put into dramas and be well done if we were only so inclined and studios/companies took a chance. I'm happy to go back a couple years and find another drama, Love with Flaws, that in spite of being older managed to do (I would argue) an even better job.

For a good time, I will be coming back to this drama. And to cry, I will be coming back to this drama.

Overall great show, great chemistry between leads

Maybe I'm just a sucker for romance stories based on childhood friends, but I thought the main leads here were perfect for each other. I thought the supporting cast rounded out the story well but they all really only existed to support the main leads and help them along, which kinda miffed me a bit, since I always love good independent supporting characters.

Other than that, I liked how the drama is a realistic coming-of-age type of story rather than having gimmicks that a lot of taiwanese dramas have (like time travel). The trials and tribulations that everyone faced, the ups and downs, felt very real and made everything feel more impactful.

And I think what knocks this show out of the park is that they landed the ending. Many Taiwanese dramas muck up the ending. This one does not do that - it gives our characters a fulfilling send off which is what they deserve. Without giving any spoilers, they were not all happy endings but they were fulfilling endings.

I've seen folks complain about how the characters' frequent miscommunications were really annoying. While I agree, I think these situations are very realistic for two people trying to evolve their best friendship into a romantic relationship. It's a tricky dance and I think this show executed it well.

Aside from wishing they gave a bit more screen time and development to the supporting characters, I think this show is one of the top romance dramas I've seen coming out of Taiwan in recent years.

I'm writing a review for the first time, it's because the drama was just AMAZING, I didn't think that I'm gonna rate another drama with 10/10 cuz I felt resantly that it won't be a drama with soecial stiry, but I did it, I gave this cdrama 10/10, that's right its not the only one wich talk about E-sports but I just feel like it's the best, I also decided to start playing video games after watching it!
I'm so sad cuz it has an end, if there gonna be another season IDK what we're gonna have on it, cuz it seems like the story ended, maybe they're gonna show us how they'll compete in the worldwide competition, if it's true I really really hope that they won't change the actors ?

Main theme is good but expected more

Well…I dont exactly know how to feel about this one. For me the main theme was interesting, I liked how they talked about religious fanaticism, how people use religion to manipulate others and how they misrepresent religion to justify their actions. The whole thing about right or wrong judgment was also interesting. The acting was also good and I was only bothered by that crazy streamer, because despite thinking that the character is bad on purpose, I still found him quite irritating in the first episodes. I may have a unpopular opinion about this but the visual effects didn’t bothered me here and actually I found it fine because I’ve seen worse.

But then what stopped me from loving Hellbound? Well, the main theme it is interesting but the last episode was a little too forced for me and they ended season one with NO EXPLANATION of anything. I know it’s probably because they wanted to do a S2 but seemed like everything happened and nothing happened at the same time because we ended understanding nothing about how these things are happening, especially about the things that happened in last episode. They just set the whole season on religious fanaticism and that's it.

The other thing that upset me a lot is that Yoo Ah In dies in episode 3, which left me with an uncertain feeling because for me his character was pretty interesting (actually the only one for me besides the female lead). Maybe he'll come back later in the story if they decide to do a 2nd season, but I think that the character's death so early in the story ended up leaving those who waited so long to see him the drama with a feeling of disappointment.

So yeah. I don’t think that drama was bad, I actually found entertaining but I definitely expected more. For now I think we’ll have to wait for season 2.

I rarely gives a 10 for drama, BUT DAMN

Uhh, ps, sadly, i change it to 9,5 now.. only b'cause i thought it looses its glint in eps 10.. maybe its just me but thats what i felt..

(btw, I will keep updating this review, cause this is one way to vent the emotions ❤)

I CAN GIVE THIS AN EASY 10 ANY DAY!

Idk how, BUT THE STORY KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!
That's it! You should watch this now!
Ever felt like drama puts too many filler? or just the same problem being dragged on for too long?
ITS CERTAINLY NOT THE CASE HERE!
The main thing I like about this drama is their story and acting. These talented actors act so brilliantly! Ohm and Nanon both have an amazing skill and beautiful eyes to convey the character's feeling. When you give this series a go, you should pay attention to their detail expression it was beautiful.
Kudos to all staff! Actors, writer, director, for they've made an amazing drama!

IT GETS BETTER EVERYTIME THEY AIRED!
It feels like they really use all the potential the story gets to offer! Episode 6 killed me, and I'm more than willing to die of happiness again in eps 7.
IM OFFICIALLY A SIMP. I keep rewatching this again and again in waits of their next episode, which is unhealthy, BUT WHO CARES

I really hope they will keep this up, or even somehow do better in the upcoming episode!
I'AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!!!

Episode 7:
So, hi.. I've watched the 7th episode.. IM DEAD, I'm talking to you from the grave rn.
this, is the first time I CRIED OF HAPPINESS...for a BL drama..
The ending of the 7th episode just.... shi- imma rewatch that 20 more times and will comeback for a proper review without my head being a total heaven of roses field and pink clouds

For those who gonna watch this, good luck soldier, I hope u make it out alive and sane

Episode 8:
Its all fluff at first, yet always calm before storm right?
I'm so happy for them, just when I CAN FINALY SEE MAJOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.. then shi* turn south..
My heart cant take the shock..

End thought:
This drama is so interesting, tho i hope i don't watch it until they're finish,, maybe im not the type to get hype for a long time? i kinda settle down at episode 10,
I still do think the drama is enjoyable! ^^

More than a little overrated

The Good:
- The beautiful (though highly unrealistic) romance
- The "scandals" did not lead to predictable relationship problems.
- The strong child actors
- The lack of a love triangle (the step brother was not nearly as bad I thought he would be)

The Neutral:
- The leads could have had better chemistry.
- Took too long to get officially together.
- The villain dad
- The stepbrother

The Bad:
- The ridiculously incompetent police
- All the "scandals", reporters, victim shaming plots
- The crime related plot is sloppy & mostly uninteresting.
- The story and even the dialog is excruciatingly slow. (this should've been a 3 hour long movie)
- The random side villains serving no purpose, other than wasting screen time
- The emotional impact completely died after the half way point.
- The redemption ark for reporter 1

----------
I'm not a huge fan of Flower of Evil, but that is a much better drama than this. Compared to Just Between Lovers, or I can Hear Your Voice this one is pretty weak, 6.5/10.

beautiful fantasy

this is beautiful fantasy and the most important ( at least for me ) have happy ending
have beautiful visual fx and beautiful view
must see this fantasy

MUSIC:
The music is gorgeous. No other word for it. It's one of the only dramas where I always watched the opening and end credits. Epic. The only problem is that although what music we do have is superb, we don't have a lot of it. So the same songs and background music are played over and over again. Luckily for us, they're so good that you don't really mind.
9.5/10 (Took 0.5 away because I would have loved a few more songs)

OVERALL:
Watch it. You won't be disappointed. It has everything: a great story, great acting, great music, splendid cinematography and great CGI. You will be totally immersed in the world of Ashes of Love.
9.5/10 Perfection.

Lots of highs and lows for only 6 eps

I went through different levels of interest while watching this. There are parts of the show thay move really fast amd others that drag. The drastic change after ep 3 really throws you for a loop and it takes a bit to get back into it.
Over all I think its still worth it plotwise. It really picks up at the end and I suggest powering through the rough spot.
The ending plottwists are super interesting and I hope they make a 2nd season.
That being said. I think it was to the show's detriment to kill off Yoo Ah In's character so early. 1. He was the top billed/advertisied cast member so it feels a bit like a bait and switch ... which sucks as a fan of his. 2. His character was super interesting. 3. It felt like we deserved to see more of his story.
(But i suppose, after that last scene there is a chance he could come back anyway lol)
The cgi is ok. Seen better, seen worse. The way the creaters absolutely thrash people borders on torture porn and im actually thankful that they didn't make it more realistic. Like, at first I was like "if that happened he would already be dead/pulp before they zap him" but then as the show went on, I was glad they didnt go that far since it happened so often.
The cult stuff was a great reflection on how humans work in times of crisis and herd mentality.
Overall. A solid "enjoyable".

It would have been an amazing movie didn't need 16 episodes for such small story

I've watched this drama after a lot of recommendations from my friends and others ,, they said it's the best
and I had high expectations then it let me down
The story itself isn't bad , it's kind of realistic not romantic or fantasy but it's not actual reality story
Yes ,, there are girls similar to the female lead in real life and there are few good men such as the male lead also but even a righteous man has his breaking point not that passive about every thing happening to him ... the writer didn't bother to give more effort on the story and add more details about every character ,, she just focused in few characters then put them in a bar and repeated the scenes of drinking , eating , sulking and crying hours and hours through the episodes
we didn't get to see the Ajussi's son at all or how he feel about his parents ,, we didn't ge to see the older brother's family and how they treat him ,, we didn't get to see more details to the cooperate corruption of the company ,, we didn't get to see what happened to the gangster who bullied the female lead all the time ,, we didn't get to see more of the happy ending if we can call it that
she just stuck with the most boring annoying scenes of drinking and eating at the bar most of the time wasting hours not minutes ,, they were too much ,, I skipped a lot
I've pinged watched this so I've noticed that a lot
all I've said after finishing it ,, that would have been great movie ,, why did I waste hours of my life watching grown men repeatedly crying ,, drinking and eating at a bar sulking about their Misérable lives
Over all for me this was a boring drama with nice sad story stretched out
