WARNING: I do tend to vote a little nicer, so other's opinions might be different.
I personally found out about this drama by watching a really short trailer that was not that goof at hooking people, but I was bored so gave it a try. It was very captivating, because I really wanted to know who the girl ends up with. It makes it so that both male leads are very good read morecandidates for a husband. I loved both of them. It was a little sad at times, but I didn't cry that much.
I personally think this is a great cast. The female lead did a great job. She tends to talk very softly at times and it makes me feel really nice and comfortable. She also cries a lot and I think she looks nice crying, but near the later half she cried a lot. I love both male leads, but I think that Zhu Yi Long portrayed his character really well. He is kind of expressionless. For the first 10 or even 20 episodes he rarely smiled. Despite being really happy or really loves the girl, he just talks with a poker face. It is actually pretty hard to always not smile when he wanted to. He also loves the main girl dearly.
I really dislike the ending. Some people might like it, but I preferred that they go without it. The later half got a bit draggy for me, but other than that, it was fine.
Music-wise, I like the theme song because Zhu Yi Long had this one part where he did something I liked with his voice. It is hard to explain but it is like he held a kinda high note. One of the insert songs is good too.
I rated story 9 because I liked the whole guessing husband thing. Rewatch value is just plain opinion. I would've rated overall a 10, but that ending and the drag of the later half ruined that perfect score.
Both dramas are set in a similar time period. Beauty at the Crossfires is set in a more modern time period where women start to think more for themselves and want to pursue what they want. Both dramas have a girl that married a man that they both don't like, but their circumstances are different. Both female leads also like a man other than their husband. The person they choose is different for both dramas. They also have problems with their husband's side of the family. Both drama also have some guns and army stuff in them.
This is different than the typical period drama .... the characters often felt very modern w/ their ideas..... especially Zhi Xia, her adoptive father and Chi Rui .
I watched only ep 1-13 and ep 39-40 w/ subs .... the rest I watched raw..... The story and acting were good enough that I understood most of what was going on.
review to come later ... I wrote one, but was cut-off when published, so I deleted it!
Lol So I just read a spoiler about the ending..... and am I the only one who is SUPER HAPPY that it ends that way !!!!???? I mean no one gets their ship broken and for the selfish people like me, we can assume she got both the guys and will build a little harem !!! MUAHAHAHA
No? Oh come on!!! Thats hot. hehehehe
This was a really fast paced drama with lots of drama and angst. The acting was good and I like Yang Rong now after watching this, she is very good with the emotional and crying scenes. But what's with the ending gahh, if I choose I want her with Zhu Yi Long.
From what I remember (since it's been a while I finished this drama) the ending was kinda wacky. It's like the writer couldn't choose between the two leads to end with the female lead, so instead she let endgame for the viewers to choose! Towards the ending Zhi Xia fell off the cliff because of some conflict dealing with her real father, I don't really remember the details, but basically they thought she was dead but she comes back and returns to the guys. Yes to both of them, they showed both scenes of when Zhi Xia returns home to either of them and like telling you, the viewers, to decide how it ended depending on which shipping side you were on. Which I found this decision of the writer dumb and telling of how indecisive s/he was not knowing how to wrap up the drama -.-
