- Sorry for bad english -

I watched the drama in only three days. I came home from work and just started to watch the next episodes. Even while working (I work in a hospital as a nurse) I was thinking about the drama... It was so thrilling and exciting.. Actually I can't describe in words how good this drama was.

The story was at the beginning a little bit...strange? But this was just in the first episode. The story developed quite interesting and I couldn't stop watching the next episode. I was fascinated by the feelings between the main characters. Really you should watch it, I just can't describe it. I often had a strange feeling while I watched the drama, but it wasn't a negative strange feeling..
And I also liked the ending. It wasn't a ending like: "Hey lets marry and have kids and be happy forever, no one can ever hurt us." It was an open end, so that you had to ask yourself, what would I (!) do in this situation.. You had to think about this drama not just while you watch the drama but even after you finished it.

So like I actually just said before, the acting was perfect. Really I FELT IT. I was so in this drama because the actors just played their roles so good, that it was almost unsettling. You know what I mean? There were times I really thought everything was real.

The music was good too, it fits always.

SO: I would watch it again and again, because the drama was just so perfect, so thrilling and because it felt so real. And today I have a new drama on my "favorite dramas" list.

The first half of this drama is so ridiculously bad. And the second half is ridiculously good. The things that brothers will do to protect each other. *sob.
I think the second half gets better because Hyeon starts talking like a normal person instead of a god-like character who is better than everyone else.
Also the mind games between the gents really starts and I always appreciate a well-timed stand off. It's a nice change to have males being platonically possessive over each other rather than fighting over a girl. As for the theme of nature vs. nurture, I wasn't so impressed. But the other theme of craving bro-ship from the heart vs. the mind was really good.
There are so many intense conversations where they are talking abstractly about mundane things but everyone in the room knows that they're talking about something else entirely different. I appreciate those moments a lot. Even Ji An gets in on it when she finds out.

Hyeon
“Please stop saying psychopathic things.”
This is my first Seo In Guk drama and I wasn't quite sold on his looks but he became more handsome as the drama went along. I'm not sure if I've ever disliked a personality as much as this guy. I think he'd be an okay character if there wasn't a pathetic Ji An for him to bully and act all superior like too. It's way too over the top.
I wasn't quite in the mood for his stereotypical brand of arrogance especially after seeing Healer's classy condescension. But I stayed on because I wanted to see how smart he really was and see how his talent and his tale unfolded. Those kid flashbacks sucked me right in.
I liked the idea of him having a Sherlock Holmes memory and intuition but him having amnesia in some areas of his life.
He is a neat freak.
His best moments are concerning his brother. Those are intense.

Ji An
Ji An is the type of heroine I hate. She's clumsy, slow on the uptake, and presumptuous. She embarrasses herself constantly, can't string a sentence and is put in a badass job position for her to disgrace. But I believe in Kdramas and their character development so I persevered. She's not a very good personality for Hyeon to bounce off.
Her pluses include that she works hard, that she can shoot a gun and she gets less annoying as the drama goes on.
There's a pretty good spoiler about Ji An that comes out in Episode 5.
Later on she gets some moments to shine which is great.

Romance
Basically every thing and everyone in this drama had chemistry except for the romance.
As per usual, Hyeon acts like he's so much better than Ji An and looks at her like she is a dirt on his shoe.
They had better chemistry as forensic partners or in a student/teacher dynamic. The way they could understand each other well without using words on the job was pretty cool.
For most of the drama it's all about Hyeon and his problems and why his poor manners gets to be excused because of his miserable life. I liked it towards the end of the drama where he starts to show compassion for Ji An and what she has experienced because of a serial killer.

Attorney Jeung
His baby face....gaah! He was definitely one of the motivating factors of keeping up with this drama. The way he so deftly portrayed sinister evil and heart-breaking sadness at the same time was pretty amazing.

Investigation Team
I liked the dynamic of this bunch. They made me smile with their enthusiasm. They're a quirky group and there's just something about them that entertained me. They are like a rag-tag crowd of siblings. They all have their individual “roles” (the analytical one, the grump, the braggart, etc.) but nobody is a stereotype. The most grumpy one is also the most compassionate. I like that. They bicker, fight, and wax philosophical about the criminals that they catch. And they're noisy. I loved them.
Also, while all of them are not that bright, they're always ready to throw down.

This drama is highly overrated..It had really good potential at the beginning but it slowly drags down. The romance in the drama is really forced,as the series goes on we can understand why female lead has some feelings for the guy but on the other hand the main lead's dialogues doesn't seem so realistic. Also the story was good but the puzzle which is the scenario gets heaviliy based on is solved early and the scenario gets repeated afterwards.Casting was good except Seo In Guk.I actually thought that Seo In Guk wasn't the right choice. He was lacking the necessary expressions as an actor.
Overall, this drama had a great potential but it ended like a typical drama with a lot of cliches.I don't recommend it.

I loved this drama from the very first episode! I was originally not planning on watching this b/c I'm not a die-hard fan of either Seo In Guk or Jang Nara (although I do admit there acting is good - just their drama choices weren't always my taste). But I decided to check in on this drama after seeing so many good remarks on the feeds - I watched the first two episodes back to back and got hooked - It was one of my most anticipated dramas every week after that.

Story: About a criminal profiler who works as an adviser to a team of investigator cops, they solve crimes together - but there is also a bigger mystery that ties Cha Ji Ahn and Lee Hyeon together.

Cast: Seo In Guk as Lee Hyeon did such an outstanding job that he has now worked his way into my favorite actors list! The stoic expressions and serious tone of Lee Hyeon's personality was so perfect I'm amazed! I loved every single expression (his eyes told most of the story), his blunt ways of saying things always had me laughing. He is trying to find pieces of his past that are missing in his memory. Jang Nara as Cha Ji Ahn was a strong-willed, stubborn and fun girl to watch - her "stalkerish" ways of following Lee Hyeon around were almost embarrassingly amusing :P I have to say her character in this drama is my favorite of all her characters. D.O's brief scenes were seriously good. Lee Joon Ho (Choi Won Young) - I was constantly wondering what was running through his mind, how his brain worked - his thoughts were such a mystery to me! One look could say a thousand different things. Seon Ho (Park Bo Gum) was at times creepy and at times adorably cute^^ The child actors were amazing - you could really believe they were the younger-selves of the older actors - in both looks and personality/acting abilities. Lee Chun Hee was such an adorkable character^^ Loved him, he could be clumsy, funny, sweet, and brave! Such an admirable man! The rest of the investigation team were great, I particularly liked: Kim Jae Yeong (The cute detective - my first time seeing him) & Min Seung Wook the silly dork - I couldn't help but laugh at his reactions to "Dave" lol :P I was glad to see Seo Young Joo appear on here for one of the cases - love this younger actor ^-^

Music: 'I Remember You' by Dear Cloud (my absolute favorite song), and 'I See You' by Shin Yong Jae (my second favorite song on the latter part of the drama).

Re-watch Value: 10/10 - I will be re-watching this drama soon! and I highly recommend it to detective/crime drama lovers! :D <3

It's over. It's over. It's over. Ah... I just repeated that after watching the final episode. But in fact I didn't want it to be over. Right from the first second of the first episode I was interested and intrigued, and there was never a boring part of this drama. The story drew me in and kept me interested and the casting was brilliant. The relationship between all the characters was unique and special, especially the relationship between the two brothers. I loved everything about this drama, apart from 1 thing. I just wish it was longer! Maybe 20 episodes? Although, I'm not too bothered and the ending was brilliant just like the beginning was. I will definitely be rewatching this drama and it has become my favourite drama of all times! The chemistry between Seo In Guk & Jang Na-Ra was written beautifully and I hope to see them in a future drama together again! I also feel like this drama has given Park Bo Gum a time to shine, and I will definitely be watching him in the near future! It may be obvious but if I had to reccommend a drama to anyone, it would definitely be this drama!

The beginning episode was not that catchy and was deceiving because it did not really kindle my interest to watch it further, so I dropped it for awhile. I tried it again and it does have a different and interesting twist in story. So it is worth watching because 1) the plot is unique and interesting 2) the music is not irritating and not repetitive 3) it is only 16 episodes 4) the actors/actresses did a very good job. My only qualm is the lead actor, nothing against him but I could barely see his eyes, it is just so squinty but his acting is superb. I do not understand him in the romantic aspect because he barely expresses it and if he does it was in a very awkward way. His brother in the story was superb, he acted the part well, he was torn within himself...

At beginning, the drama started a bit weak, but when half of the drama arrived, it started to have a lot of tension every episode. It really doesn't have many romance, but you can see how the main actor & actress feel about each other

Seo In Guk surprised me, I always watched his other dramas/movies but he was unexpected in this one. He did it very good! I think he can be even better with time.
About Jang Na Ra, she's still the best, she didn't disappointed me.
Park Bo Gum was the best of all the cast, he's acting is simply perfect! It was my first time seeing him acting, and I turned his fan, I will search for other dramas he did. His role was essential, I think nobody than him could do this role.
Choi Won Young did a perfect perfomance as Lee Jun Ho, he was creppy but it was so good.

I personally recommend the drama, even if the beginning is a bit slow and obvious, you won't know what will happen.

What I will say can be considered a Spoiler....
****(SPOILER)****
The end was opened but somehow you realize how it ends, I liked the opened ending, but I still would like to request a 2nd season ***(BIG SPOILER)*** (specially because they still didn't catch Lee Jun Yeong, and we don't really know which was the decision of Min).
***(END BIG AND NOT BIG SPOILER)***

I just finished this one and I gotta give this show an A+++! Starting from the exciting pilot since - as far as I`ve seen - they (pilots) tend to be quite boring. I really don`t get what happens with pilots in Korea, honestly...
Ahem. It was completely well constructed, enticing, well written and carries the right levels of comedy to lighten up the theme. When I first read the synopsis I thought this would be another ID crisis show and though the pilot didn`t fully deny my theory I was still excited to see what was truly going to happen.
Another thing I loved about this show is the lack of irrelevant scenes such as the side romance. I really really love how they didn`t give that too much focus or it would spoil the plot imo. Oh... the bromance though.... that was beautiful!
On the other hand... all that soft side of psycho-killers... that`s pretty much scy-fi. However, I won`t judge it for how real it was. The impression we get is that Korean laws are ridiculously weak and don`t work at all if you give it a closer look not only on this drama but many others. I haven`t watched anything where it`s further explored so I can`t say for sure but I can say for sure that the law isn`t that easy around here...
Anyway... the acting wasn`t brilliant by some, the lack of chemistry between them didn`t bother me since it wasn`t important anyway, you won`t see worse cops ever!, everyone seemed to be too willing to forgive serial murders - me included, i must admit... they worked hard on this - but these are minimal flaws compared to how great and entertaining this show was. The actions scenes are very smooth, the supporting cast stole the spotlight with great performances and should I even mention Kyungsoo? Nah... I don`t think it`s necessary. #satansoo was made for this role.
And the OST.... God. It`s flawless! Remember had me shivering.
In the end I was surprised by the events. It wasn`t as I thought and it I was not disappointed though things didn`t go the way I wanted here and there.
I can only hope for a sequel: I still remember you, maybe?

When I first saw the poster for this show, my reaction was 'eh' - but boy, was it misleading! Hello Monster is a show that I'll carry with me for a long, long, long time! The psychology in this one is intense, whether it be more tangible such as predicting another person's moves due to their thinking process or more theoretical in nature, such as the age-old argument of nature vs. nurture. The show is quite thought-provoking, adequately hilarious and thoroughly entertaining!

Story:
Almost flawless, if I had to put it simply. Many crimes are related to an overarching theme and while the later cases are not as police procedural in nature as the previous ones, this shift of focus makes sense. There's nothing I like more than a good ol' police procedural and this sure gave me a nice bit of it! The way each character's story intertwined was nice, to me. Though at some points I felt it was predictable - it wasn't as much of a 'whodunnit' as I would've expected. For example, I thought it was pretty easy to pinpoint out who Min and Lee Joon Young were - but on the flip side, I feel like the focus on the psychological battles of the characters was more crucial than a whodunnit. The characters are 'real' - there's no other way to put it! Especially Cha Ji An and Son Myeong Woo, whose characters I absolutely adored! Also, as mentioned before by many others - this has an open ending, which I don't like as a principle but I can see why it was done as so. One more episode would've helped, however since the last episode was very choppy. Many also talk about the weak romance plot but I thought it was very realistic? Especially with Hyeon's personality, I think witnessing his growth was essential before any sort of romance happened. Kudos to the writers for an extremely believable romance!

Acting/Cast:
This was really flawless! I've always liked Seo Inguk but to see him in this type of a role was a delight! Jang Nara is amazing, she really gives the depth to Ji An's character. Portraying strength and vulnerability easily, her performance could be second to none. The first surprise was Choi Wonyoung - my God, he's amazing beyond reason! Actors that can act through their eyes are a rare breed and Wonyoung does that with ease, emoting easily with his gaze! Park Bogum was easily the other surprise - I was used to seeing him be the MC of Music Bank but he's good at acting, too! Looking forward to so much more from him, especially as one of the leads in Reply 1988 - you have a new fan, Bogummy (I know it's a bad nickname but it's his Twitter handle, I'm not kidding)! The support cast was fantastic, everyone acted well! The casting was beyond fabulous, especially as the child actors and their adult counterparts were most believable - even down to little mannerisms!

Music:
The BGM sounded a bit BBC's Sherlock-y near the beginning but the actual OST is fantastic and fits the mood of the drama well!

Rewatch Value:
Ready to watch it over and over again!

Overall:
Slam dunk. That's all.

Well, I only started this drama because the actors and actresses, Jang Na-ra and Seo In-guk, not to mention Do Kyungsoo. They were all great at acting and their acting never disappointed me. I also was introduced to Park Bo-gum. He is a great actor and I now feel like watching all his movies and dramas. Actually, I figured out he was in a movie I already had watched, ''Blind''. I should point out for those of you watching this for Do Kyungsoo, it is really not worth it. Please just find clips on youtube. He is the murderer evil bad guy, but, he only plays the younger version of this guy and the flashbacks only happen ever so often. That being said, if you want to see great actors and several murder cases this is the drama to watch.

The story line and characters reminded me several times of a combination between the dramas, I can Hear your voice, You're all surrounded, and Pinocchio. But, with a less satisfying ending then all three of these dramas. I was really upset with the ending. I found it not really that great, and some of the story lines were not closed that well. If you are able to ignore the ending or imagine it ended similar to I can hear your voice, then I suggest watching this drama.

Bromance is awesome in this drama and literally everywhere. Which helped a great deal because the romance was quite lacking. Humor came and went, but, this drama in general is not really all that funny. It has a lot of serious moments and for any viewers that hate blood or dead people this drama is not for you.

Except for a couple episodes I would not waste my time rewatching this drama. So, for the most part I only liked the Bromance in this drama.

For those who are wary of picking up a crime procedural drama, be rest assured. This is one such drama that has the right dose of drama, comedy, psychological thriller, and a pinch of romance/bromance. Crime procedural is also not my first choice in watching any kind of show. I was not engrossed right away by the first 2 episodes, but I slowly got into the drama more and more as the likable cast tackled each case. Each case is connected to the characters and further our understanding of them, and of psychopaths, for that matter. With each episode, I found myself getting more infatuated with Seo In Guk (who looks at his most gorgeous here), admired Ji An more and more (played adorably by Jang Nara), and getting more and more heartbroken for the tragic bromance. The OTP romance did suffer a bit, because of the many things the drama is trying to tackle, but I really loved their relationship. It is very solid and based on friendship, mutual trust and respect. So give it a try, you are missing out on one of the most epic bromances in kdrama.

I judge how good a drama is based on the emotional payoff at the end of the series.  If not for the terrible ending, I would have given this series a higher rating.

The drama spent a lot of time exploring humanity and choices, and how our choices can affect who we become in the future.  Unfortunately, for a drama involving criminals, police, and profilers, there is very little about justice and the consequences of those choices.   Some villains from the beginning of the drama were never mentioned again.

The romance in this story was unnecessary and awkwardly included in the drama.  A sign of poor writing.

The acting across the cast was excellent.  From the child actors to the main male leads, everyone did a great job and conveyed complex emotions properly.   Watch this drama for the eye candy, and enjoy their acting while you are at it.  Seo In Guk did a great job, as did Park Bo Gum.  Unfortunately, I really couldn't understand either of the characters nor could I understand what the writers wanted us to feel from watching.  I don't think anyone could be like Seo In Guk's character and be as levelheaded as he was, even when facing murderers.  Were we supposed to feel pity for Park Bo Gum?  I agree with many reviews that the true chemistry is between Seo In Guk and Park Bo Gum.  When both of them were on screen the screen sizzled.

All in all, it felt like the drama was trying to make us feel more and think there is some hidden message.  But it was not well written enough to properly convey whatever those messages were meant to be.  At the end, you got a serviceable crime drama with an element of melo (hidden identities and such).  The good acting made the drama worth watching, but don't expect this to be a masterpiece.
