So much badassery in this show it was amazing. First: Jang Hyuk and the way he played Dae Gil. I love that the lead character was constantly straddling the line between sanity and insanity; redemption and damnation; coldness and having feelings that ran so deep he must try in any way he could to kill them. Well Played Jang Hyuk! Second: The storyline was interesting and detailed. Along with the mix of read more drama and humor it kept me hooked to the very end. The cinematography, the pacing; the fact they were constantly on the move kept me moving right along with them. Third: The fight scenes were very cool. Usually I do not like a long drawn out fight scene but I found myself thinking a lot of other dramas could take a lesson from the director and the fight choreographers of this show. Well Done! Watch this if you are hesitating!

Story: What is fated love? This drama explores this well with an excellent backdrop of history and action. There is never a boring scene in this drama. The fighting scenes are phenomenal and they are actually my favourites - they are not too complicated or fancy like the chinese kungfu series but energetic and very real, hence the beauty of them. I like it that the writer had choosen to depict a read more romance story amidst a time of turmoil in Korean history when there were struggles between slaves and aristrocats while being under the rule of a weak king. I like it that the story did not overly dwell in the political scenarios but used the political scenarios as a backdrop to what is to be a "dramatic" love story.

Acting/Cast: What can I say? I fell in love with Jang Hyuk through this drama. He bears the mark of a true actor in his role as the angst-revenge driven Dae Gil. His was a very challenging character and he pulled it off PERFECTLY! He spoke with his eyes, his expressions and his intonations had thoroughly pulled me into his world of slave hunters and his misery of loving and yet being unable to love. Oh Ji Hoo as Tae Ha (righteous, dutiful, loyal) and Lee Dae Hae as Hye Won (meek, fearful and a woman with a secret) were also perfect choices. Even the dudes who acted as slave hunters, mountain brigands, slave rebels and evil ministers were wonderful in their roles. I seriously could not find any fault in the acting and cast of this drama.

Music: I absolutely love the OSTs in this drama. I listen to them frequently in my walkman. I think this in itself tells you how wonderful I think of them. What I absolutely love was how each OSTs are perfectly coordinated with the scenes and feelings in the drama. Whenever I listen to the OSTs, they reminded me of the drama and the unforgettable scenes in the drama.

Rewatch value: I had rewatched parts of this drama twice. I am not a fan of rewatching dramas as I am a very time poor person but for this drama, I actually rewatched a number of parts that I absolutely love. I must admit that I had never rewatched any dramas entirely, not because they are not worth rewatching (how I wish I have the time and luxury to rewatch dramas!).

Overall: This is my advice to you who had not watched this drama..... go and get a bag of chips or popcorn, a box of tissue and maybe a pillow (because it is quite addictive and you might just decide to skip sleep to finish this drama in one go) and just WATCH THIS DRAMA. You'll never regret it! :)

Both are wuxia/ about martial arts heroes set during a historical period. Both have great martial arts, great actors, great productions but plot points that are dragged on to frustrating levels that make them not worth watching imo. You might keep watching anyway if youve started them already due to their good points I mentioned and their addictive natures so its better you dont start them in the first place

I just finished rewatching this for the second time. Chuno (Slave Hunter) is an Excellent drama. Really good actors. Good storyline and great background music. Great cinematography. The ending was not perfect, but it was acceptable and believable for the situation. This drama is really worth watching. I gave it a 10. Lead actors were amazing. I don't understand the fairly low rating though since nearly every review and rating I've seen so far has been so high.

favourite characters min cho bok yi, seol hwa. best performance by Ha Si-eun as Lee Sun Young, the woman with cerebal palsy. Yes, an obvious choice to make. But i think it was an extrordinary performance. 2 questions. (1) what happened to eop bok. (2) when the guards or whatever had hye won's picture in front of the,. Even if she had some kind of disease, it was plaom that it was her. it would have been better if she had worn something to hide her face.

    overall, a terrific drama.

This show was promising until halfway. Then it deteriorated drastically. 8.1 rating is overrated for this show. Retarded progress, especially on romance part. Some big faults in execution as well. Stay away unless you want to torture yourselves.

This k-drama has one of the worst/most stupid endings ever.

Dangit. Please tell me she doesn't end up with Song Tae Ha. Their scenes are so intensely boring I want to bang my head on the wall. STH is only barely saved by his nice martial arts moves and eye-pleasing profile, but instead of even appearing noble he just seems like a boring idiot who would've achieved his goal straightaway if he hadn't selfishly lied and dragged his crush into his own journey. So far by ep 9 I don't care much about the characters except for Dae Gil and his bros...the writers seem to not care about giving anyone much of an arc when the story has so many possibilities...am I going to continue to be disappointed?? Can't believe ppl are saying this is the best sageuk to date...really?!!! Please tell me the characters become more three-dimensional than they are right now...

T_T Wahhh. Thanks for the heads up. All the glowing reviews had me thinking this would be amazing, like some Jumong-esque classic or badass fusion like Iljimae or something...I was gonna stick it out but your comment and then one buried review (wonhwa, who expertly described how I was feeling about the story halfway through) made me wonder if I might just waste another 15 hrs being disappointed/pissed. So sad, because the story could've been great, and Jang Hyuk was carrying his role with his usual chops. Sad that half his dramas have bad scripts and terrible romances/female characters.
