Bah

I watched it just because I like the type of story. But I wore out the fast forward button by avoiding the slow, boring, and unnecessary parts. There are often narrative nonsense, as if it were a drama written by beginners. The acting so over the top often got on my nerves multiple times but I think FL is a good actress, in the tragic scenes it shows. The main characters have very little chemistry. There should be a constant attraction and desire between them but they only say it in words, you can't feel it. Above all, I found him very bad, in terms of acting, stage presence and beauty. It is indisputable that 2016 Chinese beauty standards are far from mine.

When I heard that My Amazing Boyfriend was based off of My Love From A Distant Star, being a huge fan of the South Korean drama, I jumped right into My Amazing Boyfriend. Aside from the fact that the female lead is a bright and cheerful actress and the male lead is a more reserved and immortal/not human being, the two dramas do have significant differences that make them both unique.

To start off, I have never seen Kim Tae Hwan in drama land and it turns out that he's actually a model. Wouldn't be too surprised, considering his height and chiseled, nice face. He's become one of my latest heart throbs, but at last, there were a few flaws in his acting I couldn't overlook with him playing Xue Ling Xiao, the monster...

Such as his hair, he looks so much better with his hair styled back...the hair just didn't suit him. A bit of a waste of his handsome face to be honest. Since it is his debut in acting, he still has a lot to learn. Many times, I couldn't tell his true emotions and motives, such as if he really loved Tian Jing Zhi in the earlier episodes or if he was just using her. His acting was a bit bland and has a lot of room for improvement. I didn't know if they cast him specifically because he'd be playing a 500-year-old monster who probably has no emotions and doesn't express them very well but that would make sense. But comparing him to Kim Soo Hyun from My Love From A Distant Star, I'd definitely say that Kim Soo Hyun spectacularly pulled off his role better.

Wu Qian played Tian Jing Zhi well. She was energetic, cheerful, and funny. My favourite scenes of hers are when she got drunk and actually spoke what her heart really wanted to say. It was pretty touching and cute. There were just a few times I feel like Tian Jing Zhi messed up and I couldn't feel sorry for her...but she did end up developing as a character and maturing and understanding the ways of life near the end.

The side story/mystery of this drama was in my opinion, very predictable. (Because who else could the murderer really be??) I wasn't hooked by the mystery, but the cute romance. The execution of the mystery was still enjoyable though because it was the main cause of the cute rescue scenes, and the mystery reveals Xue Ling Xiao's backstory near the end of the drama.

Speaking of the ending, though it was a bit rushed and I seriously wish they make a second season! Overall, I did enjoy this drama a lot because I'm a huge sucker for cute romances and it didn't fail to satisfy my needs.

Since this is my first Chinese drama I dont know if the style in this particular drama is common in china. That being said I have things I liked and disliked about the show.

I didn't like how the dubbing felt so off, it was very distracting but since they speak so fast and you have to really try and keep up with the subtitles eventually you grow to not notice it as much. The flashback scenes were so. freaking. long. and I thought kdramas were bad @.@ Also its kind of disappointing how the CGI is in this drama but they didn't use it too much for me to say it ruined the drama, it was still enjoyable.

For majority of the drama Tian Jing Zhi was my favorite character. She was crazy, confident, pretty, brave and yeah crazy. I also greatly enjoyed her and Xue Ling Qiao's banter and sarcasm it's probably the highlight of this show for me. I overall liked them together very much until...the moral dilemma came. She really disappointed me at this point..in fact she made me downright angry with what she decided to try and do against Xue Ling Qiao's will. If someone ever did it to me in real life even if it had no ill intention I would never want to see them again. But he eventually forgives her....love is so blind lol

The storyline and characters were overall enjoyable but I think this show has more episodes than it really needed because around the midpoint of watching this show it will feel slow and the relationship growth between the main pair (in my opinion) starts to plateau. I liked that they had more of a friendship in the beginning and then progressed into hiding feelings for each other but this phase lasted too long for me. I was waiting for the moment where he would express how they felt and transitioned from only doing couply stuff to pretend in front of other people to actually making the official decision to date even though it cant last. While their near death scenes are touching and filled with love, their everyday interactions didnt really step up to a new level and this is what made it hard to believe they had sex. Heck a kisses would have been enough. The kind that was just because he felt like it not because out of need and health.

Overall, I do recommend! It has alot of really funny scenes :)

OMG! This is my most fave "Chinese-drama". For the first time because of this drama I get over from the my past fave c-drama (My Little Princess). It's nice!

I love Tian Jing Zhi! She's pretty ( I promise ) she acts naturally! She acts cute. She always smiles. I love her cute gestures!

I also love the composition of the story. They fit. Kim Tae Hwan and wu Janice are fit together. I cannot get over with this! Please seek for it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :) But, just the ending, it's like it's uncomplete. Hoping for Season 2. But as they said, it may not be processed yet because "China" found some issuses regarding K-Entertainment that caused the blockage of China to K-Pop Industry. But still (like others) hoping,

Lastly!! I love the OST! Please go check it on YouTube. :))

This show exceeded my expectations. It may sound like my love from another star, but it's so different. It's absolutely hilarious. I found myself laughing really hard and enjoying every second. It does have filler episodes, which I like. I don't like intense dramas that never give you a break or even a second to smile. This is my first Chinese drama and now the bar is high. It's high for all dramas. This is in my top three in my overall dramas including Korean, Chinese, Hispanic, etc.

The main female actress is my favorite. Wherever I felt the other lead lack, she made up for it. Her face expressions and body language was always on point. She's amazing. Even when she cried it was so real. She knew how to play the childish girl, mature women, weird and quirky, everything.

Good drama. SPOILER ALERT: Although is an open ending and the leading lady can be annoying here and there, it is a fairly good drama! The storyline is solid and there are some good twists. The lead actor could have been a little less stiff but he did well overall. The supporting actors did very well too, especially Fingal Fu as detective Li Yan Zhi and Aro Yang as Feng Dong Dong. The nine stars are only because of my personal dislike of open endings, if not, I would have given ten stars for entertaining. Watch the second season; it flows nicely from this one's ending. Enjoy it!

this is the first vampire type Chinese drama i have seen. it is a truly amazing one because the actors that are used in this drama portray the characters really well. they do a really good job and put their full effort into this. the director used a lot of good quality props and equipment in here. they literally went all out for this drama. from the house, to the lab, to the past like in the 1500s, to the cars, the dresses, the movie studio and the places that the action scenes take place. i love how the two main leads get together in here. they literally have a special bond. i think it was meant to be like that since the girl thinks she has misfortune. they also have one of the hilarious conversations and the situations. even in dangerous situations the lead actress can still make jokes. even if she is on the verge of literal death. but then again she has a vampire boyfriend so, i think you can see the outcome of that situation. but don't worry there are some situations where the girl is in danger and there is no vampire boyfriend to save her. there the best romantic scenes and even those scenes have comedy included. literally one of the funniest Chinese dramas i have ever seen. good luck watching. hope you love vampires after seeing this.

* Review:-My Amazing Boyfriend (2016) This is quite good but its getting a bit long winded at the moment and dragging. The relationship with the monster and the girl Iike. She already had seven bf and has never kissed any of them. That is wack. Her rules for dating are archaic. But I love the way she and the corpse were revived. This girl is so annoying. First off she has broken up with 7 boyfriends and never kissed any one of them. Now She has been saved by this dormant corpse Kim Tae Hwan/Xue Ling Qiao because her blood has revived him but now she wants his to revive one of her exboyfriends because he is dying and doesn’t want to take no for an answer. She is so petty. Try looking from his point of view for once. At least he didn’t kill the guy who is trying to kill him. He had been shot but he had the blood of another mutant that healed his injuries. So their blood can heal anyone. Wow that would be awesome. I wonder if her blood can heal because he gave her his blood. So she’s drugged him with his favourite milk. So she is going to kiss him and bite his tongue. It didn’t work but he decided would do it for her anyway and then he will leave her. He’s so pathetic when he just lets three guys beat him up in the rain. He’s just heart broken but he doesn’t really understand his own feelings of both love and jealousy. I suspected Rise Li/Hong Shi Guang from the beginning . He kind of overacted some of his characters nasty behaviours and he was manipulative of people that he had close relationships with both the male and female. I liked the story. I did, but the ending went against my own predictions. I like the ending I had made up so much better. Aishhh!

One of the best sci-fi cdrama I've seen

I've got to say this is my 4th time watching this drama and I just can't get over the excitement and the 10 different emotions that run through me when I'm watching.

First let's start with casting/acting
In my opinion the cast of this show if just MAGNIFICENT, every character had their own style and the main casts really brings out characters. The female lead keeps me humorous throughout the entire show and I think Janice Wu did a fabulous job. I didn't expect to have a Korean male lead act in a cdrama and he did a good job bringing out Xue Lingqiao. Although he is serious throughout the story but at times I feel like the character was brought to life with his acting. The only thing that was off was the dubbing in the drama. I'm not super annoyed but it's something I can pick out and clearly visible. Otherwise the entire cast did a beautiful job of bringing their characters to life and nowadays it's kind of hard to find a drama with good acting and beautiful looking faces.

Storyline - spoilers
OMG!!! I never thought I would like watching sci fi dramas but this drama changed it. The storyline of this drama is very interesting and keeps me at hook, I love the interactions between the 2 main leads and especially the interactions the female lead has with the supports roles Feng Dongdong (assistant) and Zhang Xuanxuan (her best friend/a list celeb) since the female lead acts as a female star herself. Xue Lingqiao's story is enriching and it makes since as long as you don't skip through the episodes. One of my favorite part is when Xue Lingqiao explains how he "flies" in the air. The ending of the story was expected but I didn't want it to be ended that way and of course there is a season 2 but I don't know how to feel about it. I dropped it at ep 3 but I did see a clip of season 2's last episode and I do know that the main leads end up together and even have a son. Puts me at ease to know that they do end up together.

OST/Music
The beginning music of the episodes is very catchy and has a up beat rhythm to it. I could listen to the song on replay for hours. I also really like the MV to the songs so go check it out if you'd like.

Rewatch Value
Considering this is my 4th time rewatching, it's worth my time! Only 28 episodes which is pretty short inside of those long cdramas that have 50-60 episodes and a lot of the times there are some scenes that aren't necessary for those long dramas.

Mystery, unexpected love.

STORY----------------------------------
This is an extremely good drama. Although they don't end up together quite yet, there is a part 2, which is amazing. I really enjoyed the story, and it is good for anyone who is up for some fantasy and mystery. With that, the producers did a good job with not cutting out the romance to get a puzzle-like feeling. It is super interesting with the whole background.

ACTING/CAST-----------------------
The connections between the characters are amazing, and the part that I really praise is the balance of emotions. The female lead is hilarious most of the time, which makes it pretty optimistic, and she is very good at acting during the emotional parts. The male lead on the other hand, doesn't really give off that much feeling, and seems to have a rock-hard personality. But his special background story takes my mind off the 0-emotional level trait.

MUSIC----------------------------------
The music was fine, but I like it when there is a mix of upbeat and soft songs. The only upbeat song in the OST is the intro, which we only hear once every episode.

REWATCH VALUE--------------------
I would definitely rewatch, but there is no need to rewatch unless you have finished season 2!

OVERALL--------------------------------
Overall, excellent drama, would recommend 100% to anyone! Season 2 is also really good! I think this is a very well thought out drama, and it was expressed even better!

The storyline on this drama is quite unique. A mutant human and an actress end up as room mates. From the synopsis you would think this is a silly sci-fi drama that’s not very believable or relatable. But it’s actually got a really deep story that has lots of twists and turns. There’s some pretty good comedy, lots of action, there’s mystery, suspense, and romance. It’s well told and the acting is really good. There’s some cute characters and side couples. It kept me guessing who the bad guy was for quite some time but I figured out who it was before it was revealed. It’s a shocker for sure. I really enjoyed unraveling the mysteries. It’s not a slow drama by any means. There’s kidnappings, lots of action, and fighting scenes. It really keeps you on your toes. And the romance is very sweet but not over the top cheesy like some dramas. The ending is a bit open ended. I would recommend watching season 2 to see how things are concluded It’s also an excellent drama.

Well ... before watching it , I was thinking that should I watch this or not but I have to say that this drama is actually worth watching.
And I actually liked it more than the similar one " My love from another star " maybe bcoz i get bored in the korean one and that is why i have not even completed it yet . I am not saying that the korean one was bad , it was good in the beginning but I actually liked this one more .
But I was disappointed bcoz of the ending .... good that it is coming up with a season 2 in 2018 with mine favourite thai actor Mike D Angelo .
But I am also very sad bcoz Janice Wu will not be there in season 2 as her acting was just very good in the season 1 and I personally liked the drama more bcoz of her acting . She was very funny in the drama .
I also like the storyline in the drama ...., the plot was well set .
And this drama is actually worth admiring .
I loved the drama very much
Looking forward to watch season 2 with MIKE .
