I don't know what is wrong with me. This is totally not my type of drama, but I was hooked from episode 1. I watched this every chance I got in exclusion to any other drama. It is so fun and quirky with suspense and angst and tons of totally cute romance. The plot and the flow of the story is well written and directed. Although, I did guess who was the read more bad guy way early in the drama, I don't think it is the writers fault. It is just intuition. The extra characters that usually get on my nerves were needed for the actual story line and I enjoyed their interactions with the main characters. I appreciated the irony of them talking about second female lead as the girls' occupation were actresses. It was quite amusing. Also, it was interesting that the fantasy part of the drama felt ridiculously plausible. I even liked the ending. :-)

I don't know much about Chinese actors. Janice Wu was excellent as quirky, naive and somewhat silly Tian Jing Zhi. I didn't feel like she was stupid as some people felt. She seemed to pick up on things quite quickly once she had all the facts. She felt real to me and even through all the silliness. Kim Tae Hwan doesn't seem like much of an actor, but I cut him some slack since this is his first drama and he is model cute. He wasn't horrible as Xue Ling Qiao, but sometimes a little expressionless. The other actors were good too.

I enjoyed the music.

I might rewatch this someday..

If you enjoy fun, fantasy romance, then I recommend this drama.

I am a fan of these kind of fantasy/romance dramas so I'm usually extra critical when it becomes to the story and plot.

I read from many places that this is kind of remake and ispired by korean drama 'you who came from the stars' even though this is really based on chinese novel series.
I admit, story sounds similar and female lead has similar traits with Cheong Song Yi's character but read more that's where the resemblance ends. And I'm actually glad that this was different from 'you who came from the stars'.

So we have self-confident actress Tian Jing Zhi (played by Wu Qian) who in the beginning is in distraught by getting dumbed by her childhood sweetheart boyfriend after proposing him. While venting her anger she gets into car crash and accidentally revives immortal Xue Ling Qiao (played by Kim Tae Hwan). Jing Zhi almost died but Ling Qiao with his abilities payed back the favor by healing her.

Ling Qiao, being lived in the earth for 500-something-years and being 'asleep' for 100 years he didn't know anyone and didn't have anywhere to go. The only person he could think of was Jing Zhi and thus he kind of forced himself as Jing Zhi's roommate.
This is where all the fun began, Jing Zhi being her bubbly and hyper self and Ling Qiao being serious and quiet.

I enjoyed the side characters Zhang Xuan Xuan (Shen Meng Shen), Li Yan Zhi (Fu Jia), Ye Chen (Xu Ke). I really wanted writers to concentrate on these characters more but I guess episode duration would have been too long. They were important to the story and all actors did great job representing them. This drama made me a fan of Xu Ke and I hope I will see him in more dramas in the future.

At first I felt in couple first episodes that plot isn't going anywhere. But those couple episodes was full of funny moments because Jing Zhi's character is kind of comical so I enjoyed it. Then plot started to take place soon and I was so into watching this. A little dissappointment was Kim Tae Hwan's performance, who as a novice actor didn't quite convey enough emotions for the viewer to feel it properly.

If you're awaiting some mind blowing romance from the start, you will be dissappointed. Scenes between Ling Qiao and Jing Zhi were sweet but romance evolved kind of slowly.

Main bad guy in this drama you can guess if you have good instinct and have watched this kind of dramas before. For me, I guessed who the bad guy was pretty quickly. But nevertheless, I was enjoying watching this. I felt like there weren't any extra character put there like an accessory but everyone had their own meaningful place in the story.

Only thing that was major disappointment for me was one plot turn happening in later episodes. All except that, I can say I am quite happy with 'My amazing boyfriend' and I hope they will make season 2!

Oh, and music was good too! I think I will go looking for OST ;) And I'm even interested to read My amazing boyfriend novel series if I ever find it translated it in english somewhere.

Overall; if you're a fan of fantasy and romance, this is definetly your drama.

Both are fantasy dramas Both have adorable, somewhat mischievous leading ladies.
Both have an element of the couples uncertain future, since they "from two different worlds." One is literally a different world and the other is figuratively, but that fact threatens the happily ever after of both couples.

I don't know why I feel like I should recommend this buy I don't know, watching this drama reminded me of My Amazing Boyfriend. Maybe it's because of the suspicions that arise in both these dramas.

This is the first dubbed drama I've watched that didn't have an annoying female lead. I loved the two leads. The drama has a bit of everything - romance, comedy, action, supernatural and some mystery - a very nice mixture which is exactly my type of thing. If you like all of that with more than 16 episodes I would recommend this. Whilst the story did drag a smidge I did like that it was 28 episodes and I'm looking forward to the second season.

The first half was cute, the second half was tiring and repetitive. Only if it was shorter, I would have finished it. Recommended for those who love extra rom-coms.

My first Chinese drama and it did it's job for the most part. An obvious call back to My Love from the Star but I think they're different in their own special way so it's hard to compare. Storywise, this is more out there and has external elements as opposed to a closed setting. The only real complaint I have with is the length of the series. It took twenty episodes to get to the core of the story which was really dragging by that point. The last four episodes really were just summaries of everything that happened. The acting was on point but Kim Tae Hwan needs some range. I think Fu Jia out-acted him and he's the second lead? The relationship between Jing Zhi and Ling Qiao is very unstable. One being too dependent and the other wanting freedom? It's very hard to mix without the relationship looking forced. The ending would've pissed me off if I didn't just see they were planning a season two but it's still better to tie loose ends than to leave us all on a cliff.

I'm waiting for the season 2 so badly!! I almost broke my laptop in shock after watching the final episode.Though I enjoyed it a lot (the female lead was a lot like how I behave at home, hahaha), why did they do this to me??!!

I was really hoping for a season two but seeing that the male lead, Kim Tae Hwan, is a Korean, I doubt that it would push through because of the South Korea/China issue over THAAD (thus, the strictly followed Hallyu ban in China)

I"m in EP5 and everything looks messy and kind stupid !!! plus, I was wondering why the lead voice dubbed "just found out he's Korean", he's good looking tho.

In my opinion only what saved was the female protagonist who guaranteed me laughter, because otherwise I found a lot of senseless situation and a romance that did not convince me until the end. The actor chosen male leader was very bad, completely inexpressive the whole drama, he was more to robot than to monster! I will not even comment on that highly nonsense end! I just did not drop because I'm persistent, but it was almost.

Thanks for your comment. It makes me think about whether to watch this one or not. That's the same way I felt about the Korean version, "You who come from the stars." Both leads in that one were cute as far as looks, but I couldn't stand the characters. The female lead was just way too overbearing and a spoiled brat throwing tantrums all the time, and the male lead was adorable but so overly quiet I could hardly watch the entire series. Unfortunately, I thought that the Korean drama was way overrated (and I love Korean dramas)!

Im okay with everything in this drama except fr the stupid cape of the villain. Im sure the purpose is to keep it mysterious. But its illogical to wear one at home. They could have just angled the camera to nt show the face. Play with lights instead. Honestly even with the cape i guessed who the villain was.
