Story had potential, but dragged on and was too negative.

After watching countless dramas and leaving so many good reviews, I really hate to even mention how disappointing this one is. The story itself has too many negatives. Writers and directors should know the audience needs at least a few positives to stick with a 30 episode drama. Nothing goes right for anyone 90% of the time. The potential for three romantic relationships are squandered by the writer’s who give us next to nothing by the way of romance. The supposed ten year long love of the main couple fell flat. By the time another romance finally blossomed, after 23 episodes, I didn’t really care if they ever got together. There was no chemistry in any of the relationships. How many failed attempts at making his movie did the audience have to suffer through? I don’t blame the actors for this lackluster drama, they can only play the roles they are given.

It has been a little while since I have seen this drama but I saw that no one ha reviewed it so here i am.

_-I understand why a lot of people don't like parts of this drama. There is a lot of back and forth between the leads, but I also have seen this in a lot of other dramas and I feel like it's a little understandable because like Xin Chen loved him and he hurt her deeply, so i feel like its kinda understandable? There's something towards the end that felt like it came out of left field and was totally unnecessary, I wished the end was better, but i don't think its a deal breaker. I think the dialogue could have been written better. A lot of people complain about the pacing but I personally feel that the pacing was good with 30 episode, it just contributed to the overall emotion of the drama.

+Memories of Love was beautiful, emotional, and carried so many forms of love in such a condensed space. When i finished I felted inspired yet exhausted. There is something about this show i fell in love with that i can't quite put my finger on. Memories of Love moves from the past to the present and does a good job at showing how the leads have changed from youth to adulthood. The back and forth between past and present, I feel, was a good way to slowly reveal the back stories of our characters. I also love the coloring and the lighting that is in Memories of Love, the overall aesthetic of the show just fits the story and adds to the emotions so well.
+My absolute favorite part of this drama was the relationship between Xin Chen and her uncle Xin Kai Yu. It was beautiful and heartfelt and heartbreaking. In the parts of the story that fell a little flat i kept watching for Xin Kai Yu. It was heartbreaking and well portrayed. It made you reflect on life and the choices we make with the time we have. That song, 500 Miles, will forever be in my heart (but like I haven't been able to track down the version used in this, so if anyone finds holla at me please and thank).

30 Episodes… Just to Break My Heart!?

First, completely unsatisfied with the ending. It felt cut off and I surely thought there’d be another episode. That’s all of my complaints.

It was a heartfelt and heartwarming show. I cried often (a lot at the last few episodes) and I laughed a lot, especially at the relationship between Uncle (father) Kaiyu and Chen (lead actress). The relationships with the Uncle is really what tied this show up well for me. I also want to mention all of the characters hopefully learned the important of decision making and letting others choose the happenings in their lives for themselves. We can support and watch over from afar but controlling someone’s situation when it isn’t necessary— is always unnecessary and may negatively impact all parties.

It was pure, taught a lot of valuable life lessons and gave examples of how to continue on with your life after hardship and loss. (again not in the last two episodes, that was just one gut wrenching incident after the other.)

Terrible drama

I started watching Memories of Love for Wallace Chung and up to approximately episode 10, yes, well, you can follow it although it is not really fascinating. After that it becomes really terrible, the plot has no longer a clear story line and it becomes impossible to watch due to unexplainable mood swings of the characters and partially really dumb dialogues, but mainly because of the monotone and super depressive female lead character. The part dealing with Xin Kai Yu, his music and his illness is a good part of the story line but also did not get to the bottom of it and could not save it. In conclusion this is still one of the most terrible chinese dramas,

Here's the WARNING sign you were looking for [LOL]

I never write reviews, but this was hands down one of the worst dramas I ended up finishing. I'm sure the actors did the best with what they were given, because I've seen (at least) Wallace Chung and Jiang Shu Ying in other series where they were amazing, so I don't blame them for a bad script.

The main couple were adorable when they finally got back together, but there were just so many plot holes where the flow of the story just wasn't working at all. I know this is a drama/fictional, so some parts are most likely going to be more unrealistic but chemistry aside, to have the male lead continue to want the female lead to play the lead actress in his movie in the plot after all the continued chaos was ridiculous LMAO.

And the relationship between the female lead's sister & the guy who liked her was so toxic, and continued to be until they got [redacted]?! It was suuuuper MESSY.

(omg it sounds like I'm ranting, but maybe I AM after having to sit through 30 eps)

All the characters had terrible 'development' (if we can even call it that) throughout the series - my GOODNESS. And if I'm being honest, the main couple + Uncle Kaiyu aside, my favorite character was Liu Hao Ran!

SPOILER:
ALSO, what do you mean the writers k-word'ed the Uncle in the last two episodes?! And then the male lead loses one of his legs in the last episode?!?! Like WHAT?!?!?! I guess I can see how the d3@th of the uncle added to the plot, but WHY DID THE MALE LEAD RANDOMLY LOSE HIS LEG... HOW DOES THAT ADD TO THE PLOT AT ALL (AND IN THE LAST LIKE 5 MINUTES LMFAOOOO)

Anyways, I wish I read the reviews before I watched, so if you come upon my review, fair warning not waste your time by watching this ┐( ˘ 、 ˘ )┌

the drama itself has many confusions

it is not that it was recommended for me. I just watched All out of love drama, and I enjoyed it. one of my habits is That I want to watch all dramas related to the protagonist of All out of love drama. and here I am stuck with this unpleasant drama. it doesn't have a bit of interest. it filled with negative energy. watching 10ep of memories of love was pointless. the story was at first interesting, but it went lost and got trapped with nowhere to go/ it kept losing focus like an aircraft when losing both engines.

The drama started out really good. I have always liked Wallace Chung and Aaron Yan. However, it quickly got draggy and boring. I finished it but not with 100% concentration, which is what i normally do with dramas that I don’t really like. The uncle story is a sad one and would have made this drama have a higher rating had they package it differently. I like the sister character better than the female lead (oh gosh, i seriously do not like this drama that I forgot the names of the main character LoL). Anyway, this drama is just so-so for me. One that i will not rewatch and recommend.

500 miles song

Personally the story dragged for me, but overall interesting and emotional. The "500 miles" which is a 1960's revival song - it took me back to when I was enlisted in the military and shipped overseas - to Japan of all places- For that year I held the record in long distance phone bill LOL God I missed home! But anyway I think they only used a portion of the song in the drama.

So here is the answer to your question as to who sing the song:

500 Miles- Justin Timberlake (Inside Llewyn Davis)

Great story of a daughter and her father(uncle) and that of her boyfriend. I am moved by the loved of uncle Kai to her daughter and sincere love of Lu Fei despite of being separated for 10 years, his love never fade. Lin Le Qing's love for Xin Chen is also noteworthy. This story made me cry specially the last 2 episodes. It was sad that Lu Fei got disabled. Not so Satisfied with the ending though. The song 500 miles brought a lot of memories to oldies like me. I love the OST of this drama "Longest Moment" by Aaron Yang, the song was sad, full of memories of a love one.

A potentially failed project that could've been alot better

You know what this drama is like a college community project.
It's good in pieces.
The cinematography is just outstanding, and the idea has potential but the final screenplay is a messy sh8t, the dialogues fail this on a mega level, combined with eccentric acting from the actors.

The strength and weakness of this drama are the same, it's the tempo.
It's paced like a real-life scenario with day-by-day progression.
Once you see it through this lens, you'll like it instead of going after its flaws.
But the question ends up until when?
It doesn't pace up at all, which becomes annoying in the end.
There's nothing that keeps this drama together as a unit.

I watched 10 episodes, and I'm dropping it.

It was good till it lasted.
I'm gonna follow up with the director and the writer for this drama on other projects, these guys do have potential.

PS: I don't agree with the lead review on this drama that it was too negative, these are wishy-washy people who always want an escape dream fantasy plot whereas this drama feels too real.
