Sorry, to say i am not into Chinese drama's because for me they are lacking into acting.(facial expressions, dialogue delivery ) and the episodes are too long.But, this was my first Chinese drama. but it was fabulous. Although, it has 44 episodes, I enjoyed every single episodes. This drama is a rom-com.

Story: It's unique. great. I don't have words.

Acting: Fantastic, All cast members worked hard.

Music: Good.

Conclusion: I enjoyed, and it is one of my best drama that i ever watched. Give it a try, if you are looking for rom-com drma. I guarantee, you definitely enjoy this drama.

A great watch

This show is one of the few long shows I actually enjoyed. C-Drama is full of shows that are always uneccesarily long, but this wasn't the case this time, or at least I didn't mind it. The chemistry between the cast is so great that it all feels so natural. I didn't the progression was also great though slow at times. And the gut punch at the end really made me cry. But I feel like the final episode was just a big cop-out cause the leads have to be together for the show to have an happy ever after. Apart from that, it's a genuinely fun watch, and I loved every second of it. Even the secondary characters were fun, although the sfl was annoying the one time they fought in the office, but she accepted she was wrong and made right later.

I liked the main guy. He's neither short, nor feminine. He also looks kind of ordinary, which I actually prefer in guys:)) Not only was the actor attractive for me, I also really liked the character. And enjoyed his interaction with the main lady tremendously:) Else I would NOT stick with 44-episode c-drama...

I kept skipping basically all the support characters. They all tried to be attractive and funny, but only the mains were. As for the "story", there wasn't much of it in this one, not that I did miss all the usual "drama" devices such as love triangles or money plots or semi-criminal themes.

So, on one hand I immensely liked the main couple cast & characters. On the other hand, I fastforwarded at least 80% of the series. I never cared whatever happened with any side characters. And sometimes even with the main ones.

It was like a day-time show that runs every single day and each episode contains "daily drama". Like a case at work. Going shopping. Visiting doctor's. Etc. Oh! Looking at the airtime information, that's what this actually was (it aired Monday-Sunday, lol) I don't know why is this called 'Across The Ocean To See You', mostly it's about 2 people working at the same office and living in the same building, lol.

I gotta admit, there were SO many times I considered dropping this. Like, almost every episode:) Not that I would dislike it, but honestly I didn't feel compelled to keep watching it. But then, what would I watch as my next c-drama? It's all mystical wings and long-haired dudes. So, I sticked with this one:D After a looong time of boredom, occasionally I was blessed with super-cute /+ funny scene. Then, another looong time of boredom, lol. Apart from the clothes people wear (well, it's China:) there's not that much fun. Just the main couple. Seriously, this couple did some goofy couple stuff, lolz. Nevertheless, it takes 31 episodes for them to speak about being a couple openly (if you wait for kiss scene, it's the same number: 31 episodes of waiting, then first kiss is epi 32).

It sure was a LONG watch. Like, when I felt like I was watching this for ages, I was still at 1/2 of it, lol. I don't binge, and I don't watch the same shows every day. Like, even if this aired daily all 7 days a week, how they managed to air 44 episodes within 19 days is beyond me ("Aired: Apr 2, 2017 - Apr 21, 2017"). LOL. After completing 44 episodes of this, I was immensely exhausted. And I needed time to decide the next c-drama to watch, if ANY.

Honest views

ML:- Funny,helpful,righteous,calm,understanding,not over bearing.
FL:-Stubborn, great leader,funny,understanding.

So first the story start very normally and not with some weird cliche or with some sudden kiss .TH acting of the cast was top notch .It was not a story where the ML forcefully comes and lives with FL or vise versa.
The setting of the scenes weren't too over exaggerating or very poor it was just right.
There was no particular office romance but when ever the main leads were together it was enjoyable,bubbly and refreshing .

What i didn't liked about the story,
1- Episodes from 1-30 were just perfect but in last 14 episodes when they involved the families it was a bit chaotic which i didn't like.
2- The ending was too rushed , firstly why did the the main leads come closer due to the pregnancy of female lead but still in the last episode they only showed their wedding that . What i feel that when the whole story was about the baby they should have add the role and showed a few years later where the baby and ML's lived happily.
3- The relationship between the 3rd lead roles was too dissatisfying where the female dies that part i didn't likes it at all.

Looks promising at first, but trust me, it isn't

OVERALL
This a hot mess with almost no redeeming quality. Just don't watch, unless you're really, really, REALLY desperate.

THE STORY
I started this drama and finished it, so I can't say it's completely trash. I wouldn't have endured the whole thing if it was. I liked the premise, it seemed like the drama was going to be something different. Female lead looks nice and mature at first too. Male lead looks weird from the start but his interactions with FL are pretty fun, so it's easy to stick around. But the good of this drama lasts around...five episodes? Many one or two more?

The drama gradually descends into pure madness. Female lead is a useless tyrant that really isn't likeable, Male lead is just too goofy to root for, they always behave like master and slave so not sure how we can buy that they're falling in love, their coworkers are all horrid, his family is a nightmare...Not to mention that the secondary couples are not that close to the leads (so why do we need to care?), are given way too much screen time and have uninteresting love lines. If only I hadn't been bored, I definitely would have given up on this drama halfway through. The worst thing about the drama is the way it talks about one major plot element (that happens in episode 1). I know views on this procedure are very different from one culture to the next, but it just made me so uncomfortable to watch how everyone's treating Female lead for going through it. Really made my blood boil. Like I said, no redeeming quality in this drama...except, maybe, the acting.

THE ACTING
That was fine. I don't know why, but I really like lead actress's acting. I decided to watch this drama after seeing her in Lucky With You, and she's so different here, but still, there's this serene aura about her I just like! Lead actor was fine too, I guess, even though I really didn't like his character. They just have zero chemistry, and since there's also close to zero skinship in this drama, it's a total fail.

THE MUSIC
Loud, excessive, and annoying.

(Update after first rewatch 11/8/2023): This is a very good romantic comedy. The leading actors had good chemistry and, Zhu Ya Wen (as Zheng Chu), made this series worth watching. Zheng Chu (played by Zhu Ya Wen) comes out as an aloof and childish man whose character throughout the drama remains faithful to his overall persona: a loyal friend, familial stronghold, and a wonderful caring and steadfast lover with an incredible sense of humor. On the other hand, there is the leading lady, Su Mang (played by Wang Li Kung) that comes out as a domineering tigress but has a heart of gold and equally loyal and steadfast toward her loved ones. The drama lost one star because, at the end, there was a tragic twist to one of the supporting characters that was completely unnecessary to use just for the sake of the selfish, conniving, and insufferable Chen Shan Shan (played by Ma Qiu Zi). Overall, although I am not satisfied with some side storylines, this drama is well written for the leading couple with great bantering, slow burned but beautiful love story, and a very good ending. Enjoy it!

A voir absolument si vous aimez les rom-com

J'ai adoré ce drama que j'ai regardé d'une traite (2 nuits blanches). Vous serez accrochés dès le 1e épisode.

C'est drôle (surtout la 1e moitié), réaliste, la romance est trop mignonne et les acteurs tellement complices. Le couple principal est interprété de façon magistrale. Pour une fois, la FL a du caractère, est intelligente, débrouillarde (et très jolie :)

Les personnages sont campés avec naturel, finesse, et on s'y attache très vite.

Le drama n'est pas parfait: il y a des parties carrément "dramaland" :
- la "villain" sœur abusive
- Le ML qui était le donneur de sperme
- le téléphone qui reste allumé sur des confidences choquantes
- la gentille sœur qui a un accident
etc.
Mais ça passe bien dans la storyline.

Un bug cependant : pourquoi la mariée du dernier épisode, n'a-t-elle plus du tout de ventre ? Elle accouche au milieu de la cérémonie alors qu'elle porte une robe ajustée sur une silhouette de jeune fille ??? Les réalisateurs devraient faire un peu attention ;) ;)

Désolée, je ne me souviens plus du tout des OST.

Je le recommande vivement à tous ceux qui veulent passer un bon moment.

Mejor que otras de su género.

Si se plantea ver "A traves del océano para verte" sepa que es una rom-com con todas sus letras.
La historia, por ejemplo, es .... común. Un hombre recientemente abandonado ve su vida patas arriba cuando una mujer con la que tiene un malentendido resulta ser su jefa. Este puesto en escena es exactamente igual al de otras cientos de rom-coms. Lo único por lo que se diferencia es por el intercambio de papeles de los dos personajes principales.
La protagonista (normalmente ML) tiene un gran secreto que le acarrea ciertos problemas posteriormente y el protagonista (nomalmente FL) brilla por sus habilidades y reconocimientos.
Ambos ven sus mundos colisionar entre sí y consiguen ayudarse mutuamente. Y otras cosas muy poco realistas que no quiero spoilearos. Es decir: Nada nuevo.

No hay mucho desarrollo de los personajes .
El ML no cambia por decirlo y de alguna manera siento que la FL tampoco.
Algunos personajes secundarios carecen de sentido común y algunas de sus decisiones también. También veran que aunque los personajes son sufiecientemente maduros para algunas cosas para otras no.
Hay algún aprendizaje por parte de los personajes secundarios y en general todos (gracias a Dios) presentan un poco de profunidad en sus emociones y vivencias.

He disfrutado especialmente de la actuación del ML. Me ha resultado real, cercana y divertida. La actuacuón de la FL y los 5 personajes secundarios ha sido muy decente, pareciendome la menos destacable la de Tang Ming.
Personalmente no he sido capaz de apreciar la química entra la FL y el ML. Podrían ser grandes amigos, sí, pero no sé si pareja.

MINI-SPOILER!!!!! (Aparece en el primer episodio)
Si hablamos de la producción nos metemos en un fanganal porque depende del gusto de uno. Y los dramas chinos tienen una forma completamente distinta de producir y dirigir sus series en comparación con otros paises asiaticos u occidentales. Pero bueno, allá vamos:
1. La falta de realismo. Hospitales, restaurantes y sitios lujosos a otro nivel. Nada sucio. Nada ruidoso. Nada viejo.
Todo atractivo para la vista. Resulta irreal.
2. No mostrar el embarazo de la FL.
Lo evitan poniendole ropas anchas y gruesas para que no se marque es obvio.
3. La obsesión con que aparezca gente hablando en inglés.

En general, creo que está mucho mejor desarrollada que otras series chinas que he visto como : Love Designer,
Accidentally in Love, Girlfriend o Sweet Tai Chi. Quizá la más similar de las anteriores es Love Designer por la edad de sus personajes y su realismo.
Aunque es un poco más larga que otras creo que merece la pena por su calidad.
