If you can endure pain, you are entitled to watch this drama.

Well i came to know Seung Heon Oppa from the Drama Black, He seemed quite interesting and obviously handsome enough to Google. And then it's shocking to find that he is an aajusshi. He is like a vampire who don't age, an old Wine that just keeps getting better and better, So, this month i have invested myself in him. Apart from Black i have watched Autumn's Tale, Summer scent, The player, Better tomorrow, My Princess, The great Show, Obsessed, When a man loves, Wonderful Nightmare, Fate, Calla, So Close. And i am on my schedule to watch Dinner Mate this Weekend.
So, you know how lonely i am, and Heon aajusshi, just made my loneliness more suffering. His dramas and movies (most of them) are gonna take your sleep away, make you cry and just feel pitiful. But at the end you are gonna crave for more........... and more. So, if you have a strong heart and if you can deal with your tears this is a great drama to watch and remember forever, like an everlasting essence of life. He plays his roles like he is that person(that Character), you'll never feel like he is acting it's like you are standing infornt of him and the things are happening. His voice is another level of attribute towards his performance, which just melts in your ears. His eye capture your soul, and his smile make you addicted. I have never written anything big and cheesy like this, but trust me all of these are just facts....... Keep up the Good Work Sir. We will always look forward for you and hope you'll always be like today(Like a Vampire) young and beautiful in our hearts.... Saranghamnida Oppa/Aajusshi......

I have never seen anything so beautiful than how this story starts out. Find a box of tissue and sit it out. You will cry. It will be worth it. Be prepared for the story to lose some of its intensity as it goes on, but you will still love seeing the characters as they grow and change. All the actors of stunning - especially the young ones in the beginning. They will melt your heart before they even grow up.

This drama was wonderful! Although it's made from the year 2000 and I'm watching it in 2011, it's still a great drama! I would say this is a must watch for everybody. It's a classic and I really really enjoyed.

One of the classic

This is one of the very classic Korean drama. I watched this when it's still aired on my national TV. If you want to watch this drama better prepare tissue box beside you & try to pull out a new one not the almost run out tissue box :P. Because I guarantee you'll gonna cry your eyes out. :P.

This maybe one of the saddest drama I've watch my entire life. With every actress & actor played their part beautifully. But also just like wonjana wrote in his/her review. I also can't ever re-watch this drama again. This drama is just toooooooo sadddddd for me to re-watch.

Love every aspect of this drama, really people said sometimes classic is the best is very true with this drama.

Heartbreaking but Beautiful

I was looking for dramas that have a fall vibe and obviously this one came to mind because of the name.. it's a tearjerker though so be warned (I was aware of this beforehand). Honestly this story hurt, it's the 1st show that has made me sob.. only 2 dramas before this have made me tear up/cry a little so that tells you something. On the other hand... it was beautiful and engaging, there's nothing that I didn't like about this drama to the point I would rate it lower.

-The plot is a little strange but it's clear the main leads stopped seeing each other as siblings when the truth was revealed. There's also a lot of crying involved but the story calls for it so it didn't bother me much. I think the pacing was good and made sense for the drama as well. Overall, I think it was well written and the scenery is beautiful <3
- The cast was amazing, everyone played their part so well. The acting was great :) I can thank this drama for redeeming SHK for me lol (I was a little iffy about her after watching her in DOTS but I really liked her in "Autumn Tale" :) ) This drama also solidified my love for Song Seung Heon (I adored him in "My Princess" and I loved him in here, I can't wait to watch more of his dramas!)
-The music fits the show perfectly and when you read the lyrics it makes the show that much more heartfelt... I loved it for the drama <3
- I don't think I could ever rewatch this because of the tear-jerking story... it would hurt but this drama will stay with me for a long time

It took me 2-3 days to finish this drama, that's how into it I was. I skipped a few times, not because I was bored, but because I really wanted to know what happened next lol. If you're not into/looking for a melodrama I do not recommend this. This drama is the essence of melodrama so steer clear. Other than that, I recommend this drama, just have your tissues ready! If you're a fan of Song Hye Kyo or Song Seong Heon I also recommend!

"Autum In My Heart" is my topmost favorite!!!

I love Autumn In My Heart! I just started to get hooked on Kdramas lately, but "Autumn In My Heart " (recommended by a friend) is far more the best of them all - mainly because of the (love) story and the script; and the director! When I watch something, I typically look out for thought-provoking, mind-blowing, and enticing dialogue! The setting may be old because it was shoot/made in 2000 (23 yrs ago!) but it's ok- classic is still the best! Thank you OH SOO YUN!!! You wrote the script beautifully!!! I/We want more of Song Hye Kho and Song Seun Heun in another TV series or movie together on Netflix. They're such a beautiful couple on and off-screen! They should be teamed up again and it will definitely be a huge hit again like Autumn. Thank you!!!

Out of the 4 'Endless Love' installments, this one is the worst.

The mothers giving up their daughters to one another so easily was off putting, weird and irrational. This shitty start will linger with you for the remainder of the drama. Of course with such oldies they slap you with the classic terminal illness trope to give you an ending only your grandmother would love.

Out of the 4 Endless Love installments, this one is the worst. Spring Waltz, Summer Scent and Winter Sonata were better than this. This one isn't well written, they push hard to maximize the angst and sadness while neglecting anything else. Song Hye Kyo was gorgeous and remained so 22 years later!

Don't watch it from Amazon/KOCOWA, they cut some scenes here and there, and later on from episode 9-16 they shave off 5 minutes from every episodes. Watch the TV version or even better the DVD version if you can which got extra scenes where every episodes reaches +1h and got separate deleted scenes.

Tearjerking and Beautifully Made

just honestly what is there to start when there is so many thoughts into such a masterpiece that perhaps kickstarted the Korean Hallyu culture that is today? Like many love songs, Gaeul Donghwa is trite and over dramatic. But if you can allow yourself to be vulnerable and accept the story, you will be treated to many emotional evenings. The series unfolds like a modern fairy tale (donghwa stands for fairy tale).

In contrast to American soap operas, Gaeul Donghwa was planned as an 18-episode soap opera. Some of the plot twists are dramatic and unexpected, but all are essential to the plot and serve to enrich the characters.

That said, the series could've been trimmed by a couple of episodes or so, as it is filled with countless flashbacks and several moments of "Come on, not that again!"

Still, the rest of the series is so powerful that I suspect even the most jaded and macho viewers will surrender their egos and bring their eyes to tears.

What is the message? I like to paraphrase my review of my all-time favorite film, Breaking the Waves. It paints each facet of love (e.g., mother-to-daughter, friendship, romance) with a palette of honesty and beauty.

And what beauty... The series is very beautifully shot, like the "yellow umbrella" scene where one of the lead characters sees the other character for the first time in many years. And acting is superb throughout, including the children.

The first ever kdrama I've watched!!

This was the first kdrama I've watched. When my mom was watching this, I used to watch this. I was very young and I couldn't understand anything but I can remember I really loved its music. That's why I watched it along with my mom. so when I grew up, I watched this again and yes I love it despite its sad, tragic ending. Song Hye Kyo was very young and beautiful and all the child actors did an amazing job. Song Hye Kyo was the reason why I rewatched it and ofcourse my childhood memories made me watch it again. Unique plot and amazing actors. the ending broke me but still I like it but I will skip the ending if I watch it again. overall, I recommend this drama but let me tell you, it's full of sad scenes than the happy scenes. Happy scenes are very limited in this drama!!

I loveD this drama. It is a beautiful piece of endless love story written. I actually came to watch this beacuse of won bin, moon young and song hye. The first bit when they were young was well played and I could feel the chemistry growing. Its an emotional great story with a sad ending. Won bin in this drama is not as great. I can only see him as an action movie guy this was too lovey dovey for him so his potential was stripped. If u see this movie u have to watch the rest of the series (winter sonata, spring waltz, summer

At first I watched this Drama, because I didn't want to watch the "on air" Dramas. It's not that I don't like the current Dramas, but after a few weeks of learning for an exam I wanted to finish a drama quickly. So I decided to watch "Autumn's Tale". I finished it after one weekend and I am very glad I watched it.
Since DotS I thought no other Drama can touch me more. ... Okay, know I know it better^^.

Story: I LOVE melodramas. So I thought the Story would be interesting. I know this Drama is from 2000. I thought "Oh it's so old, I don't wanna watch it...okay, maybe it is interesting to see how was Korea in 2000". The Story sounds ... can I say simple? Two people who believe they are brother and sister, but than they have to face the truth, that they are not blood related. Then they loose the contact with each other and years later, they meet again.. I was very excited to see the reaction of the two of them.

Acting: The Acting... Hm, yeah. I think when it comes to melodramas Song Hyekyo is the best actress I've ever seen. Since her Acting in WTWB and DotS, she is my favourite Actress. Now I know why...People can say about her what they want (in relation to her tax scandal) but when it comes to acting, I think she is one of the best. SHK acts as Yoon Eunsuh who lives with parents and a brother until she gets to know that she isn't the daughter of the Yoon-Family. SHK was 19 years old when sie did this drama... She did a wonderful job. When she was crying, I cried, too. When sie was laughing, I laughed, too. But honestly It didn't surprised me very much, because I knew before, how a great actress she is. The big surprise was Song Seungheon. I watched "My Princess" before and thought he is a good actor but not more...After "Autumn's Tale" I love him. He was so emotional. He cried so hard and...I didn't want to see it.
In my opinion the best Actors and actresses are those, who make you cry with them...laugh with them...hate with them... . And he did it. He played the big Brother who loves his sister very much. He would do anything for her, so when they are forced to go different ways, it breaks his heart (and mine, too). The emotions he delivered with his acting were brilliant.
But...now I come to the biggest surprise...Many people may not understand, but before I watched AT I haven't watched a drama or movie with Won Bin (except "Botherhood", but when I watched the movie my focus was on other things). I thought Won Bin was one of those Actors like Lee Minho. Please don't misunderstand me, I like Lee Minho but I think he is a little bit overrated. So I thought Won Bin was very attractive (and he is!) and a ... average actor...But he isn't. He is brilliant. He acts as Han Taesuk, the best friend of Joonsu and a playboy. Honestly, at first I didn't liked Taesuk, but in the End, he was the character I pitied the most. His character changes the most and after a few episodes I pities him so much I wanted to drop the drama. Whenever he was on the screen I cried. Won Bin delivered the feelings and emotions of Taesuk so real that I thought he IS Taesuk. Know I now why Korean love him so much.
The other characters and Actors/Actresses were good, but for me not very memorable.

Music: I love the OST. The Song I love the most is Prayer by Jong Il Young. I don't know her, but the song suits the drama the best. So I recommend it to you (If you like Ballads).

Rewatching Value: I will watch it again, definitly.

All in All: I love the Drama. It is the best Drama I have ever seen. So I recommend it to you very much...BUT if you don't like a sad drama or you don't want to cry much, then you shouldn't watch it. This drama isn't a comedy, but a heartbreaking romantic melodrama. I don't know if there is drama, which is similar and newer...so I can't give you a hint...

i know the drama is old, but I am sure there are people like me who don't know if they shpuld watch an old drama, so I think it is never too late for a review^__^.
