Honestly I have a hard time understanding the ratings of this drama.
Compared to many other overrated ones, this one had at least good acting for the most part and a interesting storyline.
The directors made the plots twists appear slightly overdramatic when they were not but the story was still very interesting to me.
I really liked how they portrayed the work of judge and the characters were overall very refreshing.
The romance part was not smothering the rest of the story which was GREAT, and I was happy to see a more mature and realistic romance story instead of the usual cheesy cringy stuff between bright girl-cold guy.
In this drama, I was able to see more realistic main leads with more complex personalities.
So I recommend!

Overall, This 6 out of 10.
The story is average. What had me going is the spark between Jung Joo and Eui Hyun. Although it is minimal, im quite satisfied as they are keeping the drama in a dignified way. I love the judgeship that they portrayed and how they keeping the judges to be fair regardless of other temptation.
What i not like is the plot on the crime because it made me think back the whole point of the drama yet it was justified with the same case that happen in another country (Im not sure if its inspired by true story or not). So, i just let myself convinced and enjoy the drama.
The ending episodes was dedicated for the main leads' romance and I like it.. (That eyes glances, that smile from Eui Hyun, made me cringe).
I did wonder what happen to Han Joon but there's a dialog ''Let's us not meet again''. So, the drama did justify on what and whys of things happen in it. at least for me.

The cast is quite okay. Hmm Its not that bad but i did wonder if Jung Joo played by other actress other than Park Eun Bin, would it be better? Well, we cannot sure of that. I actually started watch this solely because of Eun Bin as I really love her in the series of Age of Youth.. perhaps this is not her cup of tea YET.
Overall, the casts did their job well.

The songs choice is okay. But nothing memorable for me.

All in all, this is a drama that you may want to binge watch when you are busy with daily life and find some time to relax with some entertainment. I think you would get bored if watch the episodes back to back but yet, it depends on your preferences. This is not a drama that you would want to recommend to others, and not so memorable. Yet, it is bearable and worth your time.
Enjoy!

I am not sure why the rating is so low...because this drama is more technical than others? I loved it. It had me feeling sad at the right moments, and happy when I should. The romance was very touching, from shy glances to simple smiles. The storyline had me thinking about things we assume but may not be real. But the most compelling is when your justice system should be righteous and blind to greed and power but it is actually run by humans who hurt like all of us. Loved the two main stars.

I really don't understand how this drama is rated so low. I know the start isn't so well, but as the drama goes on, you will be really surprised.
At first I thought, hmm, maybe they want us to know everything from the start. So I watched for my love of how judgeship is portrayed.
But as the story unreveals, it's truly captivating.
As the main thema presented, "there's more than this that meets the eye", as the evil character says, this drama is truly, more than it meets the eye. Also, it shows how every person has a "Pandora box", that can be avoide, but at the cost of someones unhappiness, or you can face the reality and life goes on. But what's more interesting is that in different periods of time it shows both consequences.
As for the acting, it was brilliant. Kim HYEONG-GYOO was superb with his acting.
It is really a shame that this drama isn't that popular.

This review may contain spoilers
To be honest, when I hate something, I hate it with passion, so I'll try to remain as objective in this review as possible, but God was this one of the worst dramas I have ever seen. And I don't mean it-was-fun-but-ultimately-stupid bad, I mean BAD bad. Let's look at some of the criterias first.

First, the premise. It's not horribly exciting, the office romance is definitely something we've all seen before, and going into the drama, I didn't particularly expect anything other than a romance laced law drama. (But then again, I only watched this show for Park Eun Bin.) But after the first episode, I was intrigued, I thought, maybe this will turn out to be something more. After all, we've all seen simple stories turned into epic dramas.

But the story gets REALLY horrible in a very short amount of time. Though it is apparent, that the drama itself was thought out from beginning to end, the little references reveal the plot twist very early on, and leave the viewer thinking "but why is this happening, how is this a thing?" and unfortunately, this question doesn't really get answered, or very poorly. I couldn't count how many unnecessarily dramatic moments are in this drama, and watching it I kept thinking "why doesn't this character do something/anything" pretty much every moment. The plot twist itself pretty much discredits everything that happens in the entire drama. It wouldn't if the charaters would have growth, but they really actually don't. Which leads me to the characters.

As I mentioned, I started watching this drama for Park Eun Bin, and she brings a great performance (of course, within the boundaries of a horribly directed and written drama), but her character is introduced, and the characteristics given to her in the first few episodes are entirely disregarded later. She becomes flat, plot driven, and i can count the amount of things I know about her that aren't related to the plot on one hand.

Out of the two main characters, Sa Eui Hyun is definitely the one I disliked more. His character is the same at the beginning in the drama as the end, and he does nothing throughout the episodes other than spill bareably cringy wisdom, and operates as the Perfect Human Being. The worst thing is, at least a handful of things happen to him throughout the story that should have at least a SMALL effect on his life/his character/behavior, but literally, none of them do. He head on faces each situation like the perfect judge that he is. After a while, I thought, why is he even in this drama. But then I remembered: the romance.

God, the romance. It's not there. They try, and fail magnificently to make them seem like they are close, the few "human" conversations that they have, that isn't related to work (and I assure you, the work related conversations are dry as hell), are horribly simple, lead nowhere, we get to know nothing of their interests, their pasts. They joke around, sure, but to me it doesn't seem like these characters do anything other than work and then go home, spend some time with their families, and work again. The love triangle is pretty much useless, horribly boring, and awful to watch.

The side characters are pretty much non existent, their storylines are going nowhere, they do not weave into the main storyline, some of them aren't even finished. Some of the side characters are just there. Since this review needs to be completely spoiler free, I will not mention any specific example, but God, there is a lot of them. Almost all of them.

I really, really, really don't recommend this drama to anyone at all, because the first few episodes will not reveal these flaws: character growth is something revealed over the course of the entirity of a drama, and so is the lack thereof; the stories not going anywhere; the main storyline being spit on by the characters themselves every few episodes towards the second half; all of these things reveal themselves on the long run, and if you start, you will be left with pretty much nothing, but disappointment. Not to mention that the writing is out of this world cringy. If you are looking for cheap entertainment, watch literally anything else. This drama isn't it.

I like this drama a lot cause it has such an amazing cast.  One thing I love about this drama is that it did not have overloaded romance.  So if your a person who loves heavy romance then this drama is not for you. I came to watch this drama coz of Park Eun Bin but I ended up loving Yeon Woo Jin and Dong Ha. The acting of these two male leads got me hooked. Yeon woo Jin got me hypnotized with his acting and voice. Dong Ha was so good that I wish they would make a season 2 to find his own love, strength and support. The story overall was......  I don't know I just didn't like it.  I like that the female lead is trying to get her brother's name cleared but I totally didn't like the killers. I felt soo sorry for Dong Ha.   The writers could have done a better job at that.  The love triangle between the first  generation was like history repeating itself in the present generation only this time it ended right with no regrets on anyone's side.  I like how the last 3 episodes was dedicated to the main leads.  The soundtrack was not much just 3 songs, they could have added more.  On a stressful day where I want something light or just any day I would definitely watch it but not continuously. Overall I love it(for acting and justice that they seem to stress).

It plays with your mind

Honestly I didn't expect anything from this. I didn't even know this drama existed. Only found it because I looked up Park Eun Bin.

The plot is quite interesting. We have one main case everything is focused on. the writer plays with your mind and lets you raise suspicion on almost every character but in a way that really makes you think. There are some details you only get in the end that make everything fit in. I can't say if it's the typical plot because I didn't watch that many law dramas but for me it was extremely interesting.

The cast was really good. It felt really authentic and let me praise Dong Ha. I can't stop to say that he's outstanding. There was never stiff acting and there are many faces you recognize as drama fan.

The music was there and fitted good, but nothing outstanding that stayed in my mind.

Here are some points others criticized while I liked it:

1.The focus on mainly one case
Yeah, there is one case that's even connwcted in some way to other cases, and some criticize that that's boring. But I liked how detailed it was and it focus left much room for those small details and how they were switched and are connected. It makes it easy to understand.

2. The reeeeealllly slow romance:
Just take it as a side part, a little extra. But its feels extremely naturally and not the slightest bit forced. I really could imagine how someone would fall in love in RL like that.

3. Second lead:
I think almost everyone really rooted for him. He is played by Dong Ha and even I fell in love. I have a huge crush on this actor now😍 But I don't really have SLS because it felt just right for FL to fall in love with ML.

4. Leads being self centered
That's probably what I understand the least. They are really considerate of other persons and want to help, but that's what some persons called self centered...like acting out of consideration was just an excuse. I absolutely didn't get that. Some criticized FL for her behavior towards her older brother bit I felt that it just fitted with her personality

Bonus: ⭐ Screenwriter of Law School⭐
Really, it's the same! I got this feeling while watching that it reminds me of law school and I was right when I looked up the screenwriter! I didn't know my intuition was so good😳 You can really see how the screenwroter grew from this to Law School. But there are already some similarities that just are inproved in Law School. It already play with your suspicion and emotions!

I think this drama is not everyone's cup of tea. But I really enjoyed the drama.

I can see on the comments that they are looking for romance but the subtleness of the romance in this drama is good enough since I don't like cheesy romance during investigations. And reality speaking, how can you even insert a fairytale romance when you are too focused with your work, much more proving your family member's innocence. Like, hello, do your job. Well, that's how I think. But "a little" romance won't hurt. That's why I liked this drama.

Tho, there are just feeeeeeeeeew questions I have in mind which is also irrelevant.

1. How old are they?? The look so young to be a judge. From the country I live, you need to gain material experience to become an expert. It made me curious to the point that I even searched how Korea appoints a judge.
2. How old is Han Joon & Eui Hyun?? How can they be batch mates in Law School?? Do they have the same age?? The last part of the drama made me crazy thinking about this. This is important. LOL.

All in all, they made a good finale for the characters. I don't know why they find it boring. My guess is just that, they are not just knowledgeable/interested on law and they focus more on other stuff like romance. However, the friendship, family ties, reflection and characters being open minded captured me.

This drama is worth finishing.

So this is the first time I've written a review so if it's not helpful I'm sorry.

I wanted to watch this drama because firstly because I'm a fan of crime/legal dramas and secondly, we never really see judges as a main character in dramas.
The cast was great. I am a very big fan of Dong Ha's acting ever since Suspicious Partner and he did an excellent job in portraying a Crazy Prosecutor interrogating his suspects or what not. Park Eun Bin was very cute in it and I really enjoyed her presence and Yeon Woo Jin was great in showing himself as a logical and intelligent man.
However, I felt that the way they introduced Park Eun Bin's character (Lee Jung Joo) was like a one-time thing. The summary mentioned a judge who cannot control the way she speaks and swears at her defendants but throughout the drama I've only seen her do that once (which was like the first episode or two).

The story had a lot of plot holes in my opinion. There are so many questions left unanswered and there are parts of the story in Lee Jung Joo's brother's case that is unclear. I felt like that it didn't do very well in concluding the case was a major con to this whole drama. There were some plot twists and parts of the story that I would've never thought would occur, however it may be confusing to some people.

The chemistry was really cute between the characters. Dong Ha's character (Do Han Joon) and Yeon Woo Jin's character (Sah Eui Hyun) showed some great love-hate friendship and it was adorable. Sah Eui Hyun is honestly a real tsundere if I should say.
The chemistry between our two main characters Lee Jung Joo and Sah Eui Hyun were cute as well. It's a little awkward and shy but in a good way. However there isn't a lot of romantic moments between them.
There are definitely some second lead moments that hit you right in the heart and I felt so bad for Do Han Joon throughout this whole drama and sometimes it breaks my heart a little.

Overall I probably won't watch this again. Just because I feel like I shouldn't rewatch crime/legal dramas if I already know who the killer is or what kind of plot twist is going to happen. But to those who haven't watched it yet, it always nice to give it a try.

Nothing to Lose/ Judge vs Judge (2017) - I like the drama to what it can offer but I think it's not as extravagant as to other legal dramas. This time around the judges stance is what is seen and the main highlight which is new for me as a korean drama watcher since most korean dramas focuses on either lawyers or prosecutors and are usually the main leads. The story is engaging for me, slow pacing with thrill. There is some sort of wanting to see what's gonna happen and what are the revelations. I am quite surprise with the plot twist, it's painful but I can understand. I also didn't feel the second male lead syndrome which is unusual since I always have that when watching korean dramas. I fully support the main leads in this drama. I would recommend this to those who like legal dramas.

What I liked

- The drama was about Judges wich I believe, aren’t often portrayed on dramas.
- I thought Eui Hyun was going to be a jerk falling for a crazy girl, but i was wrong. He was the nicest guy. I loved him a lot. It was refreshing watching another kind of male lead.
- Han Joon was amazing too. I got to see a different side of him in this and i enjoyed every second of it.
- Also it was quite unique that this story was not one of corruption and betrayal. For once, even if it cost them, the judges kept things going as they should.

What I disliked

- I had two major issues with this drama. The first one is that it is a story about judges but it could have been one about prosecutors, police officers or whatever you want. There is no distinction between the job of these people. And this is something that I witness in almost every legal drama. One moment they were judging and the other they were paying visits to the defendant’s family. While the case was still on trial. Other times they investigated what was a job of the prosecution.
- The second issue that i had with this one is that Is a drama so average. The screenwriter had the upper hand in this drama because, as I mentioned before, legal dramas involving judges aren’t that common. But instead of coming with a plot related to the tribulations and issues of the judges, we got a drama with a major case in hand and that is.
- I didn’t believed for a second the actual murderer, it was so out of nowhere.-
- And there’s the thing with the judge with lenses coming out as gay as it seems. How? It looked like a way to address a real issue but man if you want to get deep do it properly. If you want to make a drama that will make people reflect on their lives then you had 31 episodes to make it work.

What could have been better

- The romance. Gosh yes, they had their good moments but it was so not smooth the way they make them a couple.
- What about Han Joon? In the end he never got back to his job.
- The plot was so slow i got easily distracted but my phone. They took a long time to get things done. And the las 2 episodes cut have been cut down.
- Messy details of the drama. The judges going back and forth between jurisdictions.

Anyways the drama is watchable but no more than that.

Watch This Outside The Box ... Using the Probability this is Happening NOW... Somewhere.

In my opinion this drama was a way to give a bit of an insight of How powerful the law is ... for someone that will take advantage of it. Believe me... it's happening in RL. Those who know the law will take advantage of it and know the corrupt judges, that end up destroying the rights of not only the women, but they will take from the children educational learning, Senior citizens Health Care & financial support after working for years and having that money put away from said government so they can retire with knowing they have some financial support. OR... Even Want to Take Away from the Military Vets Health Care that fought for our Freedom, who are suffering from PTSD, Physical Health Issue. They will seek to abolish the rights of voters, or those who are different than them and or just because they don't like it!!!! WHY and HOW can they do all this???? Because they understand the law and what they can get away with OR they will find the means to change the law so they CAN DICTATE AND HAVE THEIR PEOPLE FOLLOW A FACIST RULE!!! Yet they will look straight into your face or in the camera ... and LIE to say that they are NOT doing this, even though the proof is there.
It's a OUTSIDE THE BOX DRAMA... A drama that you don't think something like this is possible... but it definitely is.
All this can start from corrupt Judges that are Greedy & are sucking on the Richest of the Riches Teets.
So, yes... I understand the concept of what was being expressed.
The Fortunate thing in this drama... is there are Honest Judges that will not go against their oath ... no matter what is in front of them. They won't use that power they were trusted in by the people to get favors from others.

*I didn't focus on the OST or if there was one. I was more focused on the storyline.
*This is really not a drama that I would go out of my way to re-watch, but it may be for others.
