This movie is basically about two childhood friends who love each other but are so naive that they think it's one sided. The male lead wants to be the cool guy and as we know nice guys finish last so he decides to be a total jerk to the main girl. She's the submissive type that has no confidence and just kinda takes all his insults and demeaning comments like "You're trash". But since we know that they love each other we feel sympathy for both characters and want to cheer them on. They add quite a bit of comedy and they show that the male lead is actually just a sweet puppy dog to help viewers from totally disliking him. I really thought that the main girl's acting was splendid and the supporting cast do a great job. Hirano Sho makes a good tsundere character, he played a very similar character in Honey. Although I liked his character in Honey a lot more. I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. It's adorable and the story flows smoothly. Give it a watch guys. ;)

Story/Plot: 2.0
The overall plot of the childhood friends falling in love is what initially got me to watch this film. But with how it was directed and portrayed, it felt like a recipe of everything a relationship wasn’t supposed to be. The fact that she is taught not to like nice boys, and that he is trying to portray that in order to get her, is slightly disturbing and shouldn’t be really celebrated.
The story is a romantic comedy, but the comedy parts with their heads adult heads being transported on a child’s body, made me think it was a horror flick. There is many questions, I have over this, and I think this is one Manga that was best left alone as it was.

Acting: 3.0
This was not executed well. The acting was over the top and it was cringe to watch. I give them points for trying, because there were moments that they portrayed emotions well. But overall I think this production was just a mess from start to finish.

Music: 2.0
There was a lack of music throughout, it felt unnatural. Sometimes, the lack of music is the point, but with the music either being too soft in the background where you can’t hear it or it just not being there, it created a weird suspense kind of feeling, that didn’t mix well with the comedy that was trying to be portrayed on screen.

Re-watch Value: 1.00
This drama is insanely awkward, portrayal. I would find great difficulty in rewatching it or even recommending this film to anyone.

Overall Score: 2.00

A cold male lead and shy female lead
I've seen tons of dramas/movies with this troupe. So i thought, this can't be as bad as others said. So i just watch it without any expectations.

But things just goes with weird logic in this movie.
I mean what kind of parents would teach their child that 'man that treat her nicely are bad people'??
Also ML were a total jerk, he doesn't tease her, he's practically bullying her. And their so called friends, Keita and Koyomi, wasn't a good help either. They look more like a spectators rather than a friend.
The whole love triangle was too rushed. I thought the 2nd ML would help the FL to overcome her shyness or anything helpful for her. But no, he just become her tutor pick her up from school and had a meaningless beef with ML.

However can't really say that I don't enjoy this movie, i mean i could see my 12yo self would love to be the like FL 🙄
Despite all the weird logic, the cast did good with their characters. There are some bad acting, but you could just skip that. The ending song was good.
I won't recommend it to anyone. But if you're curious and still want to watch, the 2× speed option is gonna be really useful.

Had to Force Myself to Finish it

So the male main character quite literally bullies the female lead. It's so bad that she refers to herself as "trash" and "pathetic". And the fact that she thought it was okay because "guys who are mean only want what's best for you, and nice guys are the bad ones" reinforces abuse culture and is the reason why so many women cannot tell signs of abuse.

What made that really disturbing is that she was taught that by her father and the male lead reinforces it. Not to mention the fact that the friends recognized that the male lead was problematic, yet they encouraged the relationship regardless.

Deep down I knew it wasn't going to happen, but I was hoping that the second "male interest" would help her confidence and self worth and would realize what the male lead was doing was wrong. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

All of that aside, the movie was a cliché. The story line wasn't realistic and got confusing at times. There was legitimately little to no point in the "love triangle" part of the movie, I'm convinced the producers were just running out of ideas. The acting was very forced at some parts, but overall, very mediocre. I have seen some of these actors in other films and the acting was 10x better.

All in all, I give this movie a 3/10, would not recommend.

Dropped before I even finished it

Acting/Cast
So yeah the only main reason why I watched this is, because of Hinako Sakurai. I loved the role she played in Marmalade Boy Live Action and coinsidentally, the male lead of that movie is called Yuu. But back to this movie...
I've seen Sho Hirano in Honey live action.

Story/Overall
So since I've only watched about 50min. of this movie, I don't know how it ends. But I'm guessing it will have a happy ending, since it's based on a shoujo manga.
Yuu (Hinako Sakurai) I find so annoiying and clueless. She lets Rin (Sho Hirano) tell her that she's trash and let him bully her cause she thinks he's helping her or something. Also she does like him and he likes her, but let me tell you...There's a HUGE difference between "teasing" & "bullying". And he is definitely bullying her.
Overall the first 50min. That I have watched were definitely very cringey. And if "cringey" were a movie genre, I would put it under that category instead of comedy.
It was really cringey when it showed memories of them as children and they just took the older actor and actress and made there heads big.
His fantasies are kinda entertaining though.

I would not recommend this movie unless you have NOTHING else to do.

Maybe with the drama We Love would have been better.

I did like the premises of the story and the begining of it. It was funny and the couple was adorable, although the guy didn't really treat the girl nicely.
The later was simply adorable and I really liked her character. However, the love triangle that was added to the plot halfway through, was weak, unfortunately.

The ending, finally, was ... hmm... okay I guess. I'm fifty fifty whether I liked it or not, because it was kind of cliche.

In addition, the performances were nice from all the actors and actresses of the drama.
So 5 out of 10.

First of all, there is no plot to maintenance the feeling from both of character. I watch it with flat face. If they make it more longer maybe they can add some feeling progress to make viewers's heart beating fast. The story are interesting but it's felt like something is missing in this movie.

Second, I don't understand what is the point to have a second lead male while they not used him properly. Alright, let's says the script is already show the second lead has a feeling with the heroine, but I don't felt it.

Third, the story seems too rushed. That's why I can't felt what is really happen and why is waste so much character. I got the problem, I know the point of the story but it's still like "what is happening in here?", "hmmm, what just like that?", or like "oh".

I love J-drama so much like I love K-drama (well, it can't be a drama since there is no episode), if this movie going to make a remake I think they must consider it to make the movie last longer and to adding more story that maintenance the feel.

a kinda cute hot mess

Yuu's father deserves a sound thrashing. The entire craziness that is this movie is because of him. If he hadn't told Yuu that nice boys are actually bad choices for her then maybe she would have had more self-confidence. And if Rin hadn't taken daddio's word as gospel, well, maybe he would have the flirtatious and teasing kind of cute instead of the bullying and master manipulator that he spent 90% of the movie being.

Loved Sho Hirano as Rin (even when I wanted to throttle him) and Kentaro Ito as Saeki. I had SML syndrome for awhile, but I think in the end that Saeki and Yuu's best friend might actually be a good match. They were kinda cute.

In the end, I don't really know what I think. But when two people are messed up, well, what are you going to do about it? I didn't hate it, and the end had me smiling, but it was a long journey of annoyance, frustration, and pent-up anger. And because I hate being manipulated, I really hate girls who allow boys to manipulate them. I spent almost 20 years being manipulated by my former best friend, and yeah, it's not a fun feeling. Since Rin actually doesn't seem to be that person at heart, I hated that he ended up acting the bully for what I think is no good reason.

It just occurred to me where I've seen this done better. "Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge" has the message of self-improvement down pat, has a heroine that actually can stand on her own two feet, a boy who bullies but only goes so far, and a happy ending that makes sense based on their individual personalities. Plus the ML isn't the one who conditioned the FL in this drama. She was a serious mess before he ever met her, and because they met, he actually helps to develop her confidence rather than shrink it. Does the girl really need to change? At the end of the day, not really, the important thing is that she learns to love herself and the ML learns to love her the way she is too. It's fun without being abusive. Oh my gosh, I forgot how much I love Sunako-chan and Kyohei-kun!

REVIEW
A light, shojo manga based movie about mentally damaging the person you love until they love you back. Sounds like it a very interesting psychological thriller but it's not. Instead, it's a high school romance themed story with very simple characters and a fast pace progression.

The main characters have one strong characteristic each to set the important detail of their relationship and the supporting characters are just plot devices to make the love progress and to make it easier for the viewer to understand the situation. Their dialogue consists mainly of remarks towards the main leads or their romance. They never talk about anything else.

Without any parallell story telling or character development, this romance goes from A to Z with mild conflict, and light skin ship, reaching no further than to some hand holding, hugging and a fake kiss.

WHY 2/10?

Most shojo manga movie adaptions set the quality bar pretty low but even so, this movie did not do that well in it's own genre. I occasionally enjoy some romance with light conflict as it doesn't drag out misunderstandings until I throw up in frustration but I will probably never watch this again because it's actually a very boring film. The characters don't have personalities, developments or depth. There are no parallell stories to build on the characters relationships and the progression was quite fast paced and unfulfilling.

To be a bit on the extreme, if we think about this realistically this could be taken as encouragement of mental abuse because it supposedly makes one stronger.... which is not true. This kind of mental abuse is not something a person snaps out of and gains self esteem from. It's something that brainwashes a person until they get therapeutic help that can go on for an eternity and even then, the person will occasionally consider their existence unneeded.

But if you're the kind of person who enjoys light, shojo manga adaptations with light conflict then I hope you ENJOY!!

One can understand that these are movies and it is fiction but I think that sometimes there are limits to romanticizing toxicity.

The protagonist liked the protagonist but she was too childish to say it, she preferred to be a bastard who put her down and made her feel like trash and the protagonist ... oh my god, she didn't have a bit of dignity.

It was painful to see how even her friends realized the situation but normalized it.

The performances were good but the movie is so horrendous and leaves such an ugly message that it just isn't enough to make up for this.

might be nice for some and not for others

story:

ok so i remember watching this when i was in like 5th or 4th grade on a plane, but i was able to finish half of the movie and my dumbass thought the ml was so nice and cool and cute bc he was considering the fl and fl's dad feeling which is why he is acting that way, but now that i'm in 7th grade i realise that it was actually abuse. so basically this movie about two childhood friends who love each other but are so naive that they think it's one sided. the ml wants to be the cool guy and as we know nice guys finish last so he decides to be a total jerk to the main girl bc he overheard that the fl's mom said her dad told her to get away from nice guys bc they might have alternative motives to approach her so he decided to bully the fl. the fl on the other hand has no confidence, blames herself when the ml scolds or insults her like if he says she's trash then she thinks she's trash, but since we know that they love each other we feel sympathy for both characters and want them to end up together at the end of the movie which *SPOILER* they do

acting/cast:

tbh i rlly like the cast. i loved how they portrayed the character's emotions. i think hirano sho fits tsundre characters well. the fl is actually also very cute ngl. i also like the supporting cast like tamashiro tina and isomura hayato

ost:

tbh i don't really remember the lyrics of the ost and i also can't find it in youtube so i watched the movie again and i think i kinda like it

rewatch value:

tbh i honestly wouldn't rlly watch this again if i was bored or anything, but it's not that bad.

overall:

i gave it an 8,5 overall because of the male lead's personality to the female lead. honestly i kinda like it. although i'm not a fan of how the ml acts the story itself is good. tbh it kinda depends on who you are. if u like abusive male leads and female leads with no confidence or just copes up to the ml this is for you, but if u want a nice male lead with a strong female lead this isn't for you. but the cast is a 10/10. i love how they portray the characters. i also think hirano sho is a good actor since he was able to make most of the audience mad and annoyed, sakurai hinako also did a good job at portraying a dumb and naive female lead. also i gave it an 8,5 overall because of the male lead's personality to the female lead

red flag

this hardest jmovie I had to watch. the fl need some self love and some new friends. for the part of the show the two side friends of the fl and ml were not doing anything to stop what was going. there are not many ml that I hate but this one come straight to top of my list, from the way he treat the fl is disgusting, if really like he would do those things here.

there wasn’t not plot line of there was I didn’t see it

there was not much to note the music

overall : know you self worth and boundaries with other around you
