I liked it a lot!

This was such a cute and sweet kdrama! It usually takes me a few episodes in a show to actually get into it, but this one hooked me from the beginning! This show wasn't very action-packed, but it was still binge-worthy. The characters were very likable and they each had their own personalities. Even the aesthetic of this show was beautiful. The music overall was average. Not too special but not bad either. However, one song, Baby Baby, really stood out to me! Even now, sometimes I'll listen to it. It's so cute! The acting was also really good! Even though, like I said, this show wasn't very action-packed, there's something about it that definitely makes it rewatch-worthy. I also love how the main character is studying architecture. I find that really cool, and it even inspired me to start learning about it.

One of my Top Favorites

My rating is 10/10. This is a 2019 South Korean drama with 16 episodes total over two, 8 Episode seasons. Run time is 45 min to just under one hour. It is also known as Because It Is My First Love.

Tae-O (Ji Soo) is in his 20s when his father allows him to live alone in his childhood home. The condition is no friends can stay especially female. That all changes when varying circumstances bring three friends to his doorstep in need of a place to live. They all know Tae-O has a big heart and lots of spare rooms. Song-Yi (Jung Chae-Yeon) has been Tae-O‘s inseparable friend since childhood. Her pride keeps her from asking at first but when Tae-O finds out she has been homeless for says he will not take no for an answer. Ga-Rin is a Chaebol but has ran away to have a life of her choosing. Hoon (Kang Tae-Oh) is a struggling actor he runs away after one too many beatings from his father. Di-Hyun (Jin Young) is Tae-O‘s friend and the only one who does not live at the house but a chance meeting with Song-YI sparks a mutual romantic interest. When his friends ask to stay Tae-O puts up token resistance then caves like any 20 year old who figures what dad doesn’t know... Thus begins a tangled web of friendship, life happenings, and love that was unexpected.

Spoiler ? If you are looking for a mostly light hearted romantic comedy drama with surprising depth then this is a must watch. I loved Tae-O’s character. He was the ideal friend and boyfriend. Song-yi was beautiful I do not think she had a bad camera angle or color that looked bad. To top it she was sweet to everyone and someone I could see as a friend. The other two roomies were boisterous and fun. Di-hyun was very serious and focused. At first I was all in for the relationship between Sing-yi and Di-Hyun they seemed like a great match. Tae-O started dating about the same time and I did not like his girlfriend for him at all. Cracks started to appear in both relationships and before I knew it I was rooting for a different outcome. It ended very well and I was happy that relationships that had severed were mended and the friendships stayed intact. I would not change a thing and highly recommend it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this drama, and I can barely wait for Season 2 to come out on Netflix soon. Honestly, I wish there were more than just the 8 episodes released so far, because the acting is so good and while the story is not overly complex, it is super relatable in many aspects.

While still throwing in some cheesy, cute moments here and there as is required by the kdrama romance genre, I never felt like they were overdone. There was just the right amount of comedy to keep the show lighthearted, but it was not without some very relatable struggles that normal people often go through regarding family, relationships, finances, etc. My First First Love is definitely targeted toward a young adult audience, particularly those in college or just entering into the workforce. The interactions and chemistry between the various characters is so natural that I often found myself forgetting I was watching a tv show.

I highly recommend this short drama for anyone craving a simple but beautifully woven story about friendship and love, with talented and good-looking actors!

I loved this so much more than I expected. From the trailer, it looked a little boring as I couldn't really tell what the plot was. But the actual show itself is a lot more interesting; even though it's more slice-of-life than story-driven, I still enjoyed it a lot. It was a light-hearted watch with some really funny moments, but at the same time I could really feel the female lead's pain in the first few episodes, and yes, I did shed a few tears.

It's honestly so refreshing to have not one, but TWO nice male leads, even though I'm pre-hurting because I know I'll be sad for the other guy no matter who Song Yi ends up with. I loved how mature the three main characters were, honestly—even though there were some scenes where I wished the characters would just be more honest, their actions were understandable and I loved how there weren't really those huge and unnecessary miscommunications.

Ga Rin and Choi Hoon were fun characters as well, but I didn't feel too invested in their plots or as a ship. They were more there for comedy, and even so I found Ga Rin a little annoying at times.

The storyline was great. I liked everything about the relationships between the characters; how they went from not knowing who anyone was to becoming best friends. The actor that plays Tae-O was very funny and fit the character very well. However, the characters Ga-Rin and Hun had very unnecessary scenes. I have nothing against the actors themselves but the way their characters were written is another story. The introduction of the character Hun was very interesting and somewhat hard to watch. There was one scene where Ga-Rin and Hun were trying to earn money, but Ga-Rin continued to mess-up and Hun had to apologize multiple times. I just feel like the reason she was messing up and his apologies were both farfetched and overdramatic. I guess in some eyes this scene could be thought of as funny, but I think that it is annoying and the show would be better without it.

Easy-going Slice of Life

I was torn between liking this show and not liking it, but I ended up enjoying it in the end. The first episode I thought set the show up really well, and it was just light-hearted and funny. Throughout the next few episodes it was okay. Nothing too special, but I feel like it started to pick up by episode 6 and I was more invested than I thought.

I really like the relationship that formed between Do-hyeon and Song-i - they are so cute.

I don't like the bitch Tae-oh is with.

I don't really care all that much for the third couple.

I feel that the emphasis is on Tae-oh, Do-hyeon and Song-i and that it will turn into more of a love triangle because the bitch Tae-oh is with won't stick around and at the end of the final episode Tae-oh was jealous of Do-hyeon anyway. However, I really don't want Tae-on and Song-i to be together. I get that they have known each other since they were 3 and all, but Do-hyeon is so nice and him and Song-i just go perfectly together.

I honestly don't have any guesses at how it is going to pan out in season 2, or maybe I just don't want to think about it because it isn't going to go the way I want it to. Alas, as I am invested now, I am keen to see which way it leads!

Very easy to watch and probably a good drama to start with if you're just getting into them.

-E

WHY LEAVE ME LIKE THAT? SEASON 2?

I just finished watching this drama. I think it was quite good. I really don't know whether i ship Do Hyun and Han Song Yi or Han Song Yi and Yoon Tae Oh together... It's a hard one because both boys care for Song Yi in different ways.
I think it's really funny in some bits. It's a shame that there was not a lot of screen time for Oh Ga Rin and Choi Hoon relationship ... hopefully they will be shown in season 2.
The cast has lovely smiles xD
It's hilarious when everytime there was a scene with Ryu Se Hyun, I would shout out and point 'YOU LITTLE CHEATER UNGRATEFUL GOLD DIGGING BRAT' I hated her from the beginning.
I recommend it! I hope that season 2 can come up soon because it kinda ended in a cliffhanger (where Yoon Tae Oh saw Do Hyun and Han Song Yi kiss ) I thought that 8 episode wasn't enough please make more!!

I have to admit I didn't find the first two episodes all that special. But as the show progressed and we could see the characters' struggles and pains, as well as their individual personality, the drama got 100 times better!
The plot is quite simple and predictable but the characters stand out so much that the show just makes sense as it is. I liked every single one of the housemates and Seo Do Hyun (he's such a great person, I am rooting for him). I didn't want to skip any scene when they were together. Their struggles connect them to the viewers and distinguish them from the rest; they're very realistic characters.
The music didn't impress me and, even though I just finished watching this first season, I wouldn't be able to recognise any of the songs if you played them to me. But I don't remember the soundtrack annoying me or anything; it's just irrelevant.
I'm certainly going to be watching the second season!

I've watched many dramas but this is the first I felt the need to write a review for because it's rare of me to watch one while it's just so new and there isn't a lot of other reviews up yet. This drama was very light hearted from the beginning and included a lot of quick witted quips and humor a long the way to keep things refreshing when they began to get too serious. Since there are only 8 episodes this drama reveals a lot early, so it can be agonizing for the viewer to see what's happening while the protagonist is still figuring things out. I would compare this drama to Age of Youth (Netflix Title: Hello, My Twenties) in the sense that it's all university aged people living together as they figure out their lives and go through struggles. I also think the two are similar with the setup in the writing not quite clearing everything up which is paving the way for a future season. This hopefully is the case and something in the future will be released as there are rumors that they filmed the drama as a typical 16 episode format but split it in half as 8 and 8. I think this is a good drama to watch to switch things up from all of the crime, medical, or business dramas full of the corrupt people in a position of power. The story is really simple and straight forward and you can easily knock it out in a weekend.

:), this is how i feel when i watch this show. I cant stop smiling, it's not cheesy, and it's not like every other romance story. Don't get me wrong, it has all the cute moments necessary but it's arranged in such a way where it just fits perfectly together. ugghhhhh, this show just kept me constantly smiling :))))). I really love this this show and suggest for all viewers who like romance, comedy, friendship, college type shows. But just a small warning: this show ends in a cliff hanger, so I really hope a season 2 coming out soon!!

More about the show:
the actors are great at acting and portray their role perfectly. It's not like most shows where the guy is rude, the girls is dumb and they meet and like each other, tho it's a tv show it's more off those relatable/realistic (tho I know this is never gonna happen) type of show. Anyways, I hope you watch it :)

This is the first kdrama I've watched where I actually like the main characters with the side characters! Overall a great k-drama! It was impossible to stop watching. I finished it in less than 2 days! I wish the relationships wouldn't have escalated so quickly but it was still good in the end! I couldn't help but smile at all the cute coulpley moments! So cute!! I can't wait for season two! There's so many questions that aren't answered and i need to know these answers! I hope it comes out soon cause I don't know if I can wait much longer even though I just finished it about 10 minutes ago!

If you're looking for some heavy drama with the cliche twists and roller coaster story this might not be what you're looking for. This drama is fun, light hearted, heartwarming and realistic. It was about first loves and friendships. It gives you warmth as if you're one of their circle and one of the housemates. It has the kind of friendship, kind of fun and kind of first love you've ever want. It gives you the butterflies and sweet smiles your first love felt.

Storywise, there's not much content to it. More like it was the reality of youth. Some of us were happy go lucky, some of us were absorbed in studying, some of us are chasing dreams and some of us are busy making the ends meet. Though most of us ends up falling in love. Every episode was promising and makes me want more. It is the type of drama where you wouldn't mind to see a scene where they are just eating or simply having a trip or just conversing. It is the type where you wouldn't mind having a lot of episodes just to see how they are doing.

I still can't conclude anything because I've read somewhere that there will be a 2nd season. The only thing I wouldn't like (if this happens) is that this was a fun lighthearted drama, I hope there will be no broken hearts in the end. I'm quite smitten by both of the guy leads so I'm hoping they both have a happy ending.
