Extracurricular - 11/10 literally one of my favorite dramas. Its a little slow in the beginning bc first 2 episodes are like context but hang in there its well worth it! Its a thriller about high school students and it really touches on issues like underage sex trafficking, parental pressure/ relationships, mental health, school stress, etc. the characters and story line has an amazing arch, and its very interesting to see the ML spiral and loose control as the series continues. I highly recommend this, it kind of changed my view on kdramas bc its not ur usual light and fluffy romance genre, it has a very deep meaning - u/i_kv99

My Holo Love - this is a 12 episode romance, with some action, about a lonely woman and an artificial intelligence hologram. It touched on more deeper aspects of society and the impact of being lonely. But also was lighthearted and sweet at times. There is a slight love triangle between the woman, hologram, and the developer the hologram is modeled after....which I think was adorable. The Sound of Magic - Based on the WebToon "Annarasumanara" this is a musical drama and pretty much the first ever musical KDrama I've watched. The WebToon is really short and so this drama aptly depicts those episodes in these six episodes. Ji Chang-Wook, Choi Sung-Eun and Hwang In-Yeop so beautifully brought the three main characters to life. The music and vocals just added a magical touch to the drama and so the drama intends to be, it achieves it's goal of being a magical drama eventually making you believe in magic. - u/Fatooz

Mr. Sunshine - Our beloved writer - Kim Eun-Sook - decides to surprise her fans and non-fans with this epic historical drama, and you're totally going to fall in love with it. Go Ae-Sin is a literal "strong" woman and I love how she's both elegant and fierce without even trying very hard. Kudos to Kim Tae-Ri for nailing her character. Of course, Yoo Yeon-Seok's story will touch your hearts the most. Pretty much every character has a tragic past and story moving forward but what really makes me love this drama is the nuanced performances, the music that complements the scenes and the characters that will eventually catch a place in your hearts. - u/Fatooz

Sweet Home - is a short dystopian drama. Lots of horror and gore but it's really a story about people. A group of humans are trapped in their apartment building as monsters take over the world. As the drama progresses, it does a phenomenal job of questioning who the monsters really are - the people under stress or the scary things outside? It's not just horror/gore for the sake of being gory. There's a point to all the violence and an underlining question about human nature. Prison Playbook is a drama about a baseball player who ends up going to prison. At first I was unsure about watching this drama but I deceived to give it a try and I didn’t regret it even once. The drama has comedy yet still carries a serious tone throughout the show. The characters are great and you feel very connected to them, that every scene is a treat. Hospital Playlist - It's a slice of life kdrama mainly about a friend circle of 5. It shows their daily doings as doctors and also shows their out-of-hospital life which features them in their own personal band. It's a medical drama but does not go too in-depth about medicine so it's fun to watch even if you're not into that.

The side characters have their own stories and they're not just there to form a romance with the main characters. There's no rush to get into a relationship or a lot of anxiety or cliffhangers so you can watch this casually as well. - u/venatryyx

Strangers from Hell - This is the best story I have seen recently. Briefly It is about a new guy at an eerie residence. All of the residents here are strange and the creepiest is Lee Dong Wook's character. I love the scenes between Lee Dong Wook and Im Siwan which are tension-filled and speak of an impossible bond that could never happen since one is a villain and the other (the new guy) is supposed to be a hero. I also love the way Lee Dong Wook appears on the screen each time as it sends chills down one's spine. There is not much action and it is a psychological thriller filled with more anticipation of what could happen next than straight up action. However, for me who does not normally enjoy psychological thrillers I loved the suspense. I haven't felt that kind of excitement in a while. - u/MarooshQ

Itaewon Class - I normally don't watch KDramas but I ran out of things to watch and a couple of friends pushed this drama hard on me. I went in with no expectations of it being good.  I expected it to be lot of cliche, and predictable story lines with a lot of crying and I was blown away and surprised at how much I enjoyed this. If you like grand, classy love stories, Crash Landing on You is gorgeously put together. This love affair between two people -- and two halves of a divided country -- has it all: a romance full of meant-to-be, heart-tugging barriers between the leads, sharp dialogue, vibrant ensemble work, and beautiful cinematography depicting both Koreas and also some dreamy places in Switzerland. I enjoyed this series a lot. Take it for what it is - a light rom com noona romance - and it feels like a warm hug on an autumn afternoon. I think what I personally loved so much about the show was the emphasis on words and books and how much they can shape us when we love them. As someone who has been an avid reader my entire life, I found comfort in those passages and I adored the way they wove them into the story. There isn’t much substance to the story because there isn’t meant to be but the substance in the romance is something that preceded the viewer. It focuses on female college roommates, and their relationships as well as their individual journeys in life. It's really heart-warming and the characters are very relatable. Something in the Rain - This drama is about a noona (FL) who buys food for her best friend's brother occasionally, and they both manage to ignite feelings for one another in each other's hearts. It basically highlights a societal issue - older women can't fall in love with younger men - and actually manages to execute it in a realistic manner. A few characters can be annoying but that's just how it is in real life too. I personally liked it till the end though it did make me furious a few times especially when the FL's choices start to become very questionable. But that's the beauty of the drama, it's too realistic and so I would recommend this to those who love a good realistic drama where in you can maybe understand why so and so character did what.  - u/Fatooz

Chocolate - I don't know why this was not more of a hit. It clashed with CLOY fever, which was unfortunate because it is not big and glossy like CLOY . It has a big story, and a huge heart, and a long, slow slow slow burn romance, as well as a series of support characters all of whom remain in your heart long after it has ended. There is a bit of cheese in episodes one and two, and then it really takes off...and it has my favourite OST. the acting from everyone is astounding. My Country: The New Age - The drama is set during them fall of the Goryeo dynasty hence the title The New Age. It basically presents a story about how each of our main characters tries to reach their goals in a rapidly changing country. Throughout this drama, all the main characters go through a lot of tragedy and I cried a lot while watching so you might as well. My Country: The New Age is a really good option, with a phenomenal cast, OST, and it's set in the interesting but batshit crazy [real] battle of the princes that took place at the start of the Joseon era. Things get bloody when a king has a gazillion sons but refuses to give up his throne to any of them. Mistakes were made, lol. (Same setting as Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart, actually, but not at all the same story.) Watching My Country got me reading about Korean history, and made me a Woo Do-Hwan fan for life. Plus the OST has a version of AC/DC's Back in Black song done on traditional Korean instruments that is amazing. That series is so good! - u/stellamarisetal

Arthdal Chronicles! It‘s a fantasy and there’s such amazing world-building, such beautiful mythology. It’s an epic fantasy of sorts, kind of like Game of Thrones but not really. It has a somewhat complex plot that is hard to condense, but basically our hero, Eun Seom, is part of a prophecy that declares that he has a role to play in the end of civilisation. The story follows him and many others connected to the prophecy directly and indirectly, as they unravel the contents of the prophecy and watch destiny play out...or not.  - u/smol_n_fluffy

I would recommend Arthdal Chronicles to a fan of Fantasy and Historical Dramas.  The writers have built a world from before history.  The detail involved is reminiscent to the Lord of the Rings - different species, languages, cultures, myths which come into contact and conflict with each other.  The acting is superb as is the cinematography.  It is a long commitment as there will be a total of 3 seasons (18 episodes each, I am assuming.)  Which is the normal length for an epic Sageuk.  I would say give it 3 episodes to see if you like it.  The dynamics change early on as you get introduced to the different locations and characters. - u/LcLou02

SKY Castle! It's a great option for those who are tired of the romance plots in kdramas. It does involve high school drama but that's not the main point of it. It definitely brings to light the toxic side of the education sector in Asia and the expectations and pressures that are on students and how that can effect them.

The high involvement of the parents makes this even more interesting as you can see different family dynamics and how it can effect children as well.

All this might sound too deep but the drama doesn't get too dark. It's quite fun to watch and there's never a down episode. I watched it with my mom and she liked it too! - u/venatryyx

Radiant Office started airing at the tail end of Chief Kim’s wildly successful run when no one thought they needed another office comedy in their lives again. But this little drama is definitely worthy of a watch. It tells the story of three down on their luck individuals who meet in a hospital after failed attempts on their lives, in the process of escaping their hospital bills they overhear that one of them is terminally ill. Sounds pretty sad right? Don’t worry it’s not. Radiant Office is as bright and hopeful as its name suggests. 

Our three heroes coincidentally score internships at a furniture company and work hard to try to improve their lives. What you get is a set of three fierce friends who have each other’s backs and it’s just delightful. Our female lead is quirky, fun and hardworking. She doesn’t care if she upsets the applecart at work as she thinks she is it. Her manager is her sworn enemy but slowly they correct misconceptions about one another and move from enemies to lovers. To wrap it all up in a nice bow this drama has a fantastic OST that makes every moment even better.  - u/sianiam

Dear my Friends - Geared to those of us drama viewers who are mature-enough to consider thinking about our mortality in a serious vein.  It centers around a group of elderly ladies, and two token men, dealing with aging and if you make it past the first few scenes in the first episode, (a lady standing on top of a ledge on a tall building) you will find some tremendous humor, poignant moments and a ferocious relationship between a mother and daughter.  Go Hyun-jung, from Sandglass and Queen Seon Duc, is back and she is stunning in her performance. All the ladies you may  recognize from recent drama’s, but this story was made for them all to shine.  It is a shame most will not see it.  It is a gem. - u/stumpy1949

Thirty but Seventeen - If a wholesome had a second name then that would be Thirty but Seventeen. How sweet an lovely this drama is! I adore the found family trope and this drama does that perfectly. Characters like Jennifer added so much comedy and wholesomeness to the drama. Also, Yang Se-Jong and Shin Hye-Sun had such great chemistry that you'll love this drama from start to end. While You Were Sleeping - One of Park Hye-Ryun's best works till date. Sci-fi / fantasy is a genre I enjoy quite a lot but what I enjoyed the most about this drama were the cases. Each and every case piqued my interest and I only saw myself getting more and more invested in the drama. It also introduced me to Jung Hae-In and his character had the best story amongst the main characters. The soundtrack complemented the drama and would definitely recommend it if you're a sci-fi/fantasy drama along with crime thriller. - u/Fatooz

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - Kim Bok Joo is a weightlifter and she's amazing at it! She develops a crush on this doctor and unaware of how dating or even approaching your crush works, she gives it a go! Then she meets Joon-Hyung who turns out to be her childhood friend and then what happens is fun and cute! The drama touches some really sensitive topics but they're executed so maturely and the characters are so nuanced that as you keep watching it, you'll find yourself to be deeply invested in them. WFKBJ is like a warm and a breath of fresh air. Probably one of Nam Joo-Hyuk's best works as he's best when he's a lost puppy! The chemistry and the friendships is what makes this drama so special for me. Highly recommended if you want to watch a youth drama focusing on relatable experiences of the characters and want to watch friendships and first loves. - u/Fatooz

Descendants of the Sun - It's an action rom-com where something or the other keeps happening but the drama is never at rest. Yoo Si-Jin is the captain of South Korean army meanwhile Kang Mo-Yeon is a thriving doctor. Both have a chance encounter and eventually get infatuated with each other but Mo-Yeon is unaware of all the danger Si-Jin is in, and he hides a lot from her because of his job. It's basically about how these complete polar opposites come to accept each other for who they are and what they do, and still manage to fall deep in love. Goblin -  Another one of KIm Eun-Sook's better works. Goblin is a complete package. You get romance, bromance, amazing soundtrack, beautiful cinematography, some really deep characters and a lot of insight on death, deeds and sins. It has a stellar cast and though the main romance can be an issue for many, I recommend it for how fleshed out some characters are, how soothing the story tends to be and some of those sub plots are what makes this drama something recommend worthy.  - u/Fatooz

I Am Not a Robot - absolutely loved this; through a series of missteps, the human who modeled for the robot has to step into the role temporarily and in so doing, she and her robot "master" fall for one another; so funny--many, many laugh out loud scenes; character development is great.  Love the nerdy robot-design team and Jo Ji Ah's friends/family members.  I like Kdramas where female leads are independent and not milquetoasts and the Jo Ji Ah character is so likeable as a spunky innovative businesswoman. - u/TimeTraveller1848

There's mind blowing action, chemistry and a decent story. Coffee Prince - FL is a tom boy and everyone considers her to be a guy so she goes along with it as she's the eldest and the bread winner of her house. Her mannerisms are all guy-ish and so a chance encounter with the ML lets her to get attached to him. They both start being friends but as time passes by the ML starts developing feelings for her, but he doesn't know if it's the right thing since he thinks she's a guy. This drama starts off all fun and quirky but halfway through and you'll find this drama to deal with some complex emotions and topics but you'll have a fun ride enjoying it nonetheless! It's funny as hell and the characters are extraordinary. Terrius is charming and handsome, smart, great with kids and slightly tongue-in-cheek as a spy. The kids are cute and natural, very real and a great tag team. The neighborhood watch committee is a riot of fun and efficiency and gossip and kind hearts. The situations are off beat and even the bad guys are kinda loveable, well sort of. Overall, it's an excellent ensemble comedy adventure spy thing. Highly recommended ? The Girl Who Sees Scents - FL and ML get entangled in a murder case as they witness it but unfortunately FL loses her memory as she meets an accident while running away from the murderer. However, due to the accident she develops an ability where she can see scents and trace a person through that. It's quite the unique character ability and I loved Namgoong Min and his character. Dr. Romantic - This one's a seasonal drama with two seasons out. The first season was a good introduction to Han Seok-Kyu's character as Dr. Kim. The character growth is especially the best part about this drama. The chemistry and team work is an add on. Love in the Moonlight - Loved how quirky and cute this drama was for the most part. Kim Yoo-Jung and Park Bo-Gum had great chemistry. Like every other historical drama, this turns out to be a bit dark towards the second half but regardless it was very pretty entertaining. School 2017 - My favorite drama in the school series. The story was more intriguing than the other dramas in this school series. There was a good balance between romance, friendships and mystery. Kim Se-Jeong and Kim Jung-Hyun were both good in their respective roles and their chemistry was great too. Jealousy Incarnate — This is pure rom-com, with all the emphasis on the comedy. Jo Jung Suk is so wonderful as a petty man-child who is also insanely attractive despite not meeting conventional Korean drama pretty boy standards. He nails his role as a man who brushes aside the heroine, only to lose her and to lose his mind to his ridiculously petty jealousy. Voice - one of the best stories I  have ever seen, including western movies, series,  eastern series and  anime. Especially first season. It is a dark thriller. Police/crime/action/investigation.  One  bigger story and every two episodes tell us a different small stories.  Focus on characters, so it is balanced character and story driven. And  constant action and danger which is difficult to squeeze into such  packed work. Criticism on corruption, too powerful people, because of  whom lower social groups suffer. W - Two Worlds - FL's dad is a webtoon creator and he goes missing. FL ends up getting pulled in the webtoon and saves the ML. It's a fantasy romance thriller and though the writing became messy in the second half, I enjoyed watching it because the concept was a bit new. Good Manager - If you want a good laugh then this drama is a must watch. ML is an exceptional accountant who does creative accounting for some gangsters in order to hide their dirty funds. A big company hires him so that he can help cover up a few things for them but things go haywire when ML decides to become the good guy in order to uncover the corruption and truth. I really enjoyed the love-hate relationship between Jun-Ho and Namgoong Min's characters. Also Jun-Ho was exceptionally good at portraying the selfish and extremely ambitious Seo Yeol who could cross any lines in order to reach his goals. Worth the watch for these things.  - u/Fatooz

This drama features an equally courageous but vulnerable female who calls upon four males for help when she finds herself trapped in a cult against her will. You will find yourself shocked at the eerily realistic trials the main cast is put through as they rush to expose the cult while battling corrupt government officials and police. Perhaps the most captivating part of this series is the undying friendship between the four boys and their commitment to help their friend in need. 100% check out Suspicious Partner. It’s a rom com/ crime/ thriller drama. It’s about a lawyer getting framed for killing her ex-boyfriend and the way it progresses is really interesting. The leads have amazing chemistry but the romance isn’t the centre of the show and allows for exploration of other storylines. It gets serious and suspenseful at times but it’s also one of the funniest dramas i’ve watched. I just about laughed every single episode. One of my favourites. - u/UnusualSundae

I recently finished My Mister and it was such a great drama! It focused on social class struggles as well as familial bonds and community spirit. Not to mention, corruption and betrayal. It had a little bit of everything and the story was very engaging. It's one of those dramas that can fool you into thinking it's slow-paced, but it really isn't.... the drama is really good and doesn't take long to unfold. The King: Eternal Monarch -This was one of those dramas that made me feel very different. It gave a very Westernized feel and also because Sci-Fi is my favorite genre. This was also Lee Min-Ho's comeback drama and personally I loved the bromance and the romance. I love me a healthy relationship and this drama gave me leads who had great communication. Also, the only drama whose entire album made it to my playlist. Plot wise it tends to go off track at one point and had lots of potential but despite being flawed it was worth watching for something different from your usual KDramas.  - u/Fatooz

Vincenzo - Song Joong-Ki as anti-hero mafia consigliere and Jeon Yeo-Been as the crazy money obsessed lawyer, this one’s a hell of a ride especially with all the side characters. Its over the top comedy, stellar cast and of course the writing makes it one of the best dramas of 2021. The acting was top notch and some of the law scenes were my favorite. Despite not being a huge fan of law dramas, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. They start off on a rough patch but eventually start becoming friends and develop feelings for each other. The slice of life of this drama is great, and it’d make you want to live in a seaside town surrounded with the wholesome people as in this drama. This drama showcases a special case of “zombies” and there’s a trope you won’t see coming but when it does you’ll eventually love it. It’s also one of those dramas that gives you a promising second couple and you’ll go all hearts for them from their very first meet. Pinocchio - ML is the son of a firefighter who goes through a tragedy and loses his family over a mere speculation made by a person who had the Pinocchio syndrome where apparently they can't lie because otherwise they get hiccups. He gets adopted by a grandfather with amnesia and starts living with the FL whose mother is the reporter who ruined his family. As they grow up both him and the FL decide to become reporters to achieve their goals, revenge being the main goal of the ML. It's one of Park Hye-Ryun's best works as she depicts how a true reporter must be vs how reporters are in the society. It dealt with some sensitive topics and in doing so it excelled. The characters were also well written and it's an interesting drama. Can get a bit draggy in the second half, but worth the watch. - u/Fatooz

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim - Kim Mi-Soo is the secretary of Lee Young-Joon, the CEO of a big company. He's cold, narcissistic and extremely self-obsessed. Mi-Soo decides to resign from her job now that she's at a better place financially and tired of working for Young-Joon, but it seems like Young-Joon can't let go of her. It's a typical rom-com filled with over the top comedy and some really hilarious and amazing side characters. D.P. -  Ahn Jun-Ho is performing his mandatory military service and while doing so he gets the chance to become a Deserter Police (D.P.). He's partnered with Han Ho-Yul and they both catch officers who've deserted. Each episode focuses on a new case and the drama also highlights the harassment, abuse, bullying and corruption that takes place in the army. The drama has some great performances especially that of Koo Kyo-Hwan. It also won many awards and nominations and is truly a well made drama.
