My Roommate Is a Detective (2020)

My Roommate is a Detective is set in early 20th century Shanghai where the British and the local mob families rule the city. The story centers around a crime solving trio and similar to The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty, the central character is a genius detective who is sought after for his excellent observation, analytical and deduction skills. The central character loves food and money and prefers an easy going life (but is inevitably dragged into a bunch of cases). The bromance in the two dramas is amazing!

Both shows portray friendship between three seemingly very different people, together they solve cases and uncover some very big, ugly truths. Tang Fan is very similar to Lu Yao as being the brain of the trio and also a foodie, and also very good at making his best friend paying for stuff. The bromances in both shows are also very sweet ??

Period drama, a string of mysterious cases, solved by a slightly eccentric genius ML, with the help of another ML who is in the force, good bromance.

My roommate is a detective is a lot lighter and brighter than Killer and Healer which is a lot darker and heavier but both are the same in so many aspects

Although both the dramas are set in different time period, they are similar somehow in relation to the investigation and follow-up examination. My roommate is a detective has elements of romance while the Medical Examiner Dr.Qin has very little or almost no romance (from what I recall).

it gives you the thrill that you get from watching detective stories it takes on a journey that just excites you to know more about what you are watching it keeps you hook on the main characters action , its like sherlock holmes but with a twist of the perculiar

It's also related the solving cases with one of the male leads being overly smarter then an normal detective. The bromance between the two male character are similar, but I think for S.C.I. they toned it down.

Actually for the storyline or plot… both series are quite different but I think the concept is quite similar starting from bromance and daughter of a rich man… I haven’t checked if these drama has same staff or not but the vibes is kinda similar to me… I cannot say I can understand the stories fully but I think it was a great series to me… Filled my last minute holiday ^^ Enjoy the MuLi and QiaoLu bromance tho~

Pang Hongmei and Ji Dan Yang fought a life-and-death battle with enemy agents in Lumen, thwarted the enemy's conspiracy, protected the "Water Drop Project" and finally achieved the expected success. The couple who went through the test of life and death, also realized their dreams and firm ideals.

however, Tientsin mystic has supernatural elements in it, and imo the mysteries are more interesting because of that. both dramas have lots of smaller mysteries and a bigger conspiracy behind the events.

Tientsin Mystic is a bit of a darker drama though.
