Geu Rim is a student at an arts high school who dreams of becoming a pop singer. At school She gets a new roommate, Irene who’s actually a boy. Irena’s persona is a pretty Female CF star and his actual name is Hyun Woo.
What really caught my attention before watching this drama was the fact that this was not a usual girl dresses as boy gender-bender, but that the boy disguises himself as a girl this time. I loved the comedy and the characters, as well as how most of them progressed throughout the drama. It's a really refreshing story. Although its short, I loved the progression; while others might argue it was rushed.
The read morefact that the main character is so young really amazed me, I had no idea how old she was until after I finished watching Ma Boy, she does a great job and her acting skills are superb.
This is a very cute and light-hearted drama, and I will definitely be re-watching it sometime in the future, and recommend it to anyone looking for something short and sweet.
Watching this drama and rating it would depend on one's mood and/or liking.
In my case, I was in a mood for a low-key-rom-com drama which does not require me to think too much. Ta-da! Ma Boy was perfect. I couldn't help myself from smiling from one episode to another.
I may like the drama but of course it is far from being perfect. There are scenes that made me want to read morecringe and fast forward due to unnecessary airtime of mischief but since this is supposed to be a light story... I sucked it all in and enjoyed the whole show for what it could offer.
Be reminded that this is a high school gender bender story where Boy Dresses up as a Girl while Girl keeps his secret for him. It's light, funny and cute. Not to forget that the boy is really good looking and dances so well. Music wise, as per young k-pop idol themed drama - you already know what to expect... but wait! There's more.
The drama may be light but the characters has their own story to tell. Thus making this drama more interesting than what the plot line let's us perceive. I also like the fact that the young actors and actresses suits their role. Who wouldn't fall for the plain looking girl paired up to pretty boy scenario without the perfect casting? Even the mean trio of male/female fans for each idol was the right fit. I couldn't imagine anyone else being casted for the roles, including the main ones.
I am surely recommending this for those who's craving for something light, cute and funny to watch.
One of the cutest mini dramas Ive seen. This is also probably the only reverse gender bender live action ever (If there are any as convincing as this, do tell). A 20 year old guy posing as a teenage girl? Sun Woong definitely pulled it off. He was just sooooo pretty. Is it just me or does Hyun Woo remind you of Yoon Eun Hye's Go Eun Chan (Coffee Prince)?
I was just about to deduct a star bc of that ending but now I think I'll deduct 2 stars bc there was simply no reason to do this drama with kids. The story would not have suffered if they'd put in actors who are at least old enough to be allowed to drive a car in some countries.
Really I do appreciate that she's young and did an amazing job for her age, but that was really unneccessary.
Three episodes did what a 16 episode story could do! I loved every silly moment of it. Tae Joon was the star for me though; wish the actor did more dramas!
Really fun and cute story and so short - it's a must-watch! 9/10
Despite being only 3 episodes, I think this drama still managed to satisfy me! I was really rooting for Hyun Woo and Geu Rim, and dear Tae Jun, you were calling her by the wrong name :') Overall, I really liked this drama but the ending felt rushed, and I felt like it
could have been better (like Hyun Woo telling Geu Rim so they can work it out instead of leaving her hanging??) but then again, this drama only has 3 episodes so I'll cut it some slack.
Will definitely recommend watching this! :D
It was cute and funny as well, I just don't know why they picked a 13-year-old girl and a 21-year-old guy to play a couple. I just hoped they wouldn't kiss at the end because that would be cringe-worthy.
Anyway, the cast played their roles well, but I probably liked the most the guy who played Tae Joon. I laughed often when he was on...the homme fatale :D
