The Origin of Eternity (2022)

Fully fleshed out and coherent short length costumed drama

I admit I'm really into Yang Ze which is why I sought this out and watched it without subs.

The plot is the story of an immortal close to his final cultivation accidentally helping a little flower immortal reach personhood and she instantly falls in love with him. His last steps include 3 mortal realm travails and she ends up occupying him for them.

I found the plot easy to follow and coherent. The love at first sight from her part made sense (he's beautiful and powerful and she's innocent and new) and the travails were great stories by themselves full of tragic loss and betrayals. I don't normally like tragic stories but in the context of knowing it's part of the travails, it made the little bite-sized tragedies really interesting to watch. The process of him falling for her also made sense and yes, it is eventually a happy ending and, best of all, everything is tied up.

Yang Ze is absolutely one of my favorite actors now, having seen the great job he did in The Killer is Also Romantic and Emperor or Boss. He absolutely sold me and I loved all the different characters he ends up playing and cried at the tribulations he had to go through. The FL was perfectly adequate and had some really stellar moments in the second mortal travail but I admit I was just glued to Yang Ze the whole time.

I really hope someone subs this eventually so you don't need Mandarin comprehension to watch but overall, I am very pleased I watched this.

unexpectedly started good, but surprisingly went downhill

i was wondering if there are xianxia short length dramas out there when this popped up in my recommendation. for a low budget drama, this one surprisingly had a good setting, costumes, and decent CGI.

honestly i decided to watch it because of the ML and ended up liking both ML and FL.

the trope in this drama is not new and nothing particular to remember. the ML had to go through three lives/tribulations in the mortal realm in exchange to be the Heavenly Emperor, and the FL took initiative to pass the trials with him (without him knowing about it).

i have mixed feelings about this one because it started so good but went downhill in the latter half. here’s my verdicts:
- their first life was memorable and the story was good enough to keep me going. the romance between them was believable.
- their second life was a mess. i’d like to blame with the writing. unlike their first life, there was no build-up to their love story and the romance wasn’t believable for me. i don’t believe with their love and it’s just so sad. though it had a little plot twist in the end, it felt kinda bland.
- their third life happened in the last episode and although it was short, but for me it was a nice surprise. it’s a happy ending.

this drama revolved around the main leads and i didn’t remember much about the supporting characters, though there were some whom i found annoying.

regardless, this one is a good short escape if you wanna watch light xianxia drama, but remember to put your expectation to zero.

Don't miss out, too much romantic !

Plot is good ! It is first mini series that have a good detail with costume, Visual AF, music and Plot

Actor : Male Lead is never make you disappoited ! II follow him from The killer is also romantic. Also, he is great in romantic and drama scene who is super natural acting. About FM Lead she is so so.

Male Lead is good acting !! When he looks and crys are real !
Female Lead good at her body language but not at eye contact !

Romantic : Too much romantic scene.If you like it, don't miss it !
Male Lead is good at kissing scene. Yes ! over 5 times kissing
mood and tone of romantic is so good

Costume : It is not seem like mni series as i watched before. Dress of Male and Female Lead are good.

Visual AF : This is better than others Visual AF is nice ! beyond expectation

It is a mini series only 23 eps. you can finish within 3 hrs. I think it valuable to spend time with this program.

For a short length dram it was good

I didn't mind this show wish for longer episode but it is what it is. I love the 2nd life where the FL was the empress and ML was the crown prince. I hate that they made FL fall for ML plot like bro set himself up just to have her trust her and he was acting all hurt that she imprison him for shit that he did do but he act like all the shit that went on was his 3rd bro but it turns out he and his 3rd bro were all in on it. They made a fool of FL but FL ohh at the end she was victorious cause by committing suicide before her marriage she had died as the last imperial empress which was a victory on her end i loved how she chose death over submitting to him. He did her dirty in the 2nd life and she did the same to him bro had her on clouds 9 telling her/promising her he will marry her when he come back from the war but when he came back it was revealed he was a schemer of everything bro was like trust me 1 more time i call bullshit but the part where FL kill herself i wasn't ready for but i like that ending better than her trusting his ass one more time and be with him. FL was the 1 that had the last laugh well last victorious smile gotta say i like her for that.

good to pass time

what can i say about this drama…
i’m usually not a fan of short dramas but i enjoyed this one.

i read the comment of people who preferred the first half of the drama, but for me, when i started this i must say i didn’t liked it, i found the first tribulation kinda boring and not my cup of tea.

when the second tribulation started, at first i found it boring, but at the end of it, it became good and entertaining.
so as for me, i preferred the final episodes of this drama

would i recommend this drama? yes, to pass time when you have nothing to do, the story and character are cute, so why not?
