There are some great dramas airing right now. I have been looking into the upcoming dramas, but they really don’t interest me at this point. However, I feel like there are some that will interest you. So, here they are:

 Guam Heo Jun

Kim Joo Hyuk (God of War), Park Jin Hee (Giant, The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry) and Nam Goong Min (Can You Hear My Heart?) are cast in Guam Heo Jun. This is a remake of an MBC hit from 1999. The producer is Kim Geun Hong who also produced Gye Baek.  The writer is Choi Wan Kyu who also wrote Of Light and Shadow. This will be a daily medical sageuk drama that will air five times a week on MBC for 120 episodes starting in MARCH. The first one was a hit with over 60% viewing. I guess they are trying to recreate that success.

The drama is the life story of Heo Jun (Kim Joo Hyuk) who became the royal physician during the reign of King Seonjo. He wrote a text of traditional Korean medicine in Hangul so that it could be understood by commoners. Lady Ye Jin (Park Jin Hee) is a kind-hearted woman who lost her parents when she was a child and was adopted by her father’s friend.  She becomes a nurse to Heo Jun. She also admires him and falls in love with him, but unfortunately can’t express that love as Heo Jun is already married. Yoo Do Ji (NamGoong Min) is the only son of Yoo Eui Tae, Heo Jun’s master. He learns the art of healing from his father. He works alongside Heo Jun, but begins to envy him and becomes a point of conflict with the main character.

I have no interest in medical sageuk dramas much less one that lasts 120 episodes. I tried Dr Jin and that was a disappointment with the exception of Kim Jae Joong. However, for those of you that love the genre, it looks to be a promising drama.

When a Man Loves

Song Seung Heon (East of Eden, Autumn in My Heart), Shin Se Kyung (Tree with Deep  Roots, Fashion King), and Yeon Woo Jin (Arang and the Magistrate, Ojakgyo Family) are cast in the upcoming drama When a Man Loves. This is directed by Kim Sang Ho who also directed Arang and the Magistrate. The writer is Kim In Young who also wrote Man from Equator. They worked together on a 2005 MBC drama called A Man and A Woman. This will air after 7th Grade Civil Servant in APRIL.

This drama is about Han Tae Sang (Song Seung Heon) who is a callous and decisive business man. He started with nothing and his incredible determination brought him to his current status as a success. He meets a bright younger woman So Mi Do (Shin Se Kyung) who is full of ambition and isn’t afraid of anything. She reminds Tae Sang of himself at that age and he starts to fall in love for the first time. Lee Jae Hee (Yeon Woo Jin) is the second male lead who confronts Tae Sang over Mi Do.

I really want to watch this, because I loved Man from Equator and am excited that this is written by the same person. I also love the male leads in this. However, I am put off by Shin Se Kyung, because I thought she was the worst actress in Fashion King. She had the same expression for every emotion. This character is supposed to be “bright and lovely”. I just can’t see her playing that kind of character. I guess only watching will tell.

Your Woman

Park Yoon Jae (Tasty Life, Faith), Lee YooRi (My Daughter the Flower, Yellow Boots), Im Ho (I Love Lee Tae Ri), Park Young Rin (Queen In Hyun’s Man), Lee Byeong Wook (The King of Legend, Can’t Live Without You), and Kim Ho Chang (49 Days, New Tales of Gisaeng) are cast in the daily drama of 100+ episodes, Your Woman that started February 18, 2013 on SBS. It is produced by Jeong Hyo and written by Lee Do Yung.

The only information I could find is that it is a mellow drama about family conflict of lies and betrayal.

However, here is a trailer:

I really don’t enjoy daily dramas that are over 100 episodes. I wish I could have found more information to give you. It has already started. If you are interested, then you can always watch the first few episodes to see if you will like it.

The Virus

Uhm Ki Joon (Ghost, Scent of a Woman) stars in an upcoming 10 episode drama on OCN called The Virus. It is directed by Choi Young Soo and written by Lee Myung Sook. This drama is slated to start on March 1, 2013.

This is a drama centering around the scientists of a special infectious disease crisis response team lead by Lee Myung Hyun (Uhm Ki Joon). They investigate a mysterious infection case where the virus leads to death. While investigating they face scary truths and fight against an evil power.

Other cast include Lee Ki Woo (Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, Standby) as Kim Se Jin, Lee So Jung as Jeon Ji Won, Park Min Woo (Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, Play Guide) as Bong Sun Dong, and Yu Bin (Wonder Girls idol) as Lee Joo Young to name a few.

Here is where you can see the trailer:

I love this genre of drama. Plus I have a soft spot for Uhm Ki Joon. This is definitely on my PTW list.

Cruel Palace – War of Flowers
http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r89/purplenaner/news/Kim_Hyun-Joo-p5_zps7fba5414.jpg

Kim Hyun Joo (In-Soon is Pretty, Foolish Mom) stars in the new sageuk drama, Cruel Palace – War of Flowers that is airing March 23, 2013 on jTBC after Childless Comfort. It is directed by No Jong Chan who also directed Personal Taste and written by Jeong Ha Yeon who also wrote Queen InsooJung Sung Mo (Gye Baek, Goodbye Dear Wife), Lee Duk Hwa (May Queen, Salaryman), Jung Sung Woon (Dong Yi, An Angel’s Choice), Jun Tae Soo (It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl), Son Byung Ho (Bridal Mask, The Great Seer) and Chae Jung Ahn (Queen of Reversals, Cain and Able) are just a few more actors in this new drama series.

This drama centers around Soyong Jo (Kim Hyun Joo) who is a royal concubine who wants to make her son the king. In order to accomplish her goal she holds the hand of Kim Ja Jeom (Jung Sung Mo) and uses King Injo (Lee Duk Hwa) to get what she wants.  She also attempts to get rid of the Crown Prince Sohyun (Jung Sung Woon).

Well, another sageuk drama of 50 episodes that I will probably skip. However, for all you historical drama lovers out there, this seems to be an interesting one to watch. I love strong women roles and the cast is good. Let me know what you think and maybe I will watch it.

Those are some of the dramas coming out in March. Hope you enjoy!!!
