Shin Dong Wook's close aide gave an update about the actor's health condition.
On December 27, Shin Dong Wook's close aide shared with media outlet OSEN that the actor had completed the surgery necessary to treat CRPS (Complex Area Pain Syndrome). They also revealed that Shin Dong Wook's physical condition has improved significantly and he even reduced his medication by nearly half. They also revealed that it was difficult to reduce the medication but Shin Dong Wook has been doing well so it was eventually reduced.
The close aide of the actor also revealed that many patients who are suffering from the rare disease can't stand the reduction of medicine and have to take a lot again but Shin Dong Wook managed to put up with it.
They also shared that Shin Dong Wook decided to get better so that he could return to acting once again. They also confirmed that Shin Dong Wook is currently reviewing his next work and he will do his best to greet fans once again with a new work.
On December 26, Shin Dong Wook revealed on his personal social media account that he had undergone surgery. The actor stated, "It was a small surgery but I had to experience it for the first time in my life last fall. I also tried to reduce my oral medication for CRPS in half and spent months of enduring and patience."
Back in 2010, Shin Dong Wook was diagnosed with the rare disease CRPS (Complex Area Pain Syndrome). Because of this, the actor had to take a hiatus from acting and fight against the disease. In 2017, he returned to acting through the K-drama The Guardians.
This year, Shin Dong Wook starred in Dr. Romantic Season 3. After the series ended, the actor decided to rest and undergo surgery.
