The drama film "Next Sohee", starring Bae Doo Na and Kim Shi Eun, will be released in theatres in South Korea on February 8th. The movie was first screened at the 75th Cannes International Film Festival as a part of 'International Critics' Week' on May 25, where it received a 7-minute standing ovation. The movie went on to win numerous awards including the Cheval Noir Award for Best Director and Best Asian Feature silver award in the category of Audience Award (Fantasia International Film Festival), Special Jury Award (Tokyo Filmex), and UPJV Reference Award (42nd France Amiens International Film Festival), among others. And not to forget, it also bagged positive reviews from international critics and viewers.

"Next Sohee" follows the story of a high school student So Hee (Kim Shi Eun), who begins job training at a call center and faces intense pressure which subsequently leads to her death. Investigating the incident is the female detective Yoo Jin (Bae Doo Na), who discovers startling realities surrounding the incident.

The movie is loosely based on a real-life incident of a girl who commits suicide in her job training program.

In an interview with Elle Korea, the two actresses talked about the movie and their characters. Kim Shi Eun comments, "For me, my very first thought was that I hoped this story could make it out into the world. That’s because even though I wish it weren’t true, I believe that the ‘next’ Sohee is out there right now". Whereas, Bae Doo Na remarked, "As the person who was playing Yu Jin, I felt like I was hitting a rock with an egg, I was so frustrated and even burst into tears".
