After almost two years of hiatus, Kim Jung Hyun will reportedly return to the small screen.

On May 13th, several media outlets reported that Kim Jung Hyun has been picked to lead the upcoming MBC drama "Season of Kkok Du."

Kim Jung Hyun's current agency Story J Company responded to the reports and confirmed that the actor did receive the casting offer. They also reiterated that he is still reviewing the drama.

"Season of Kkok Du" is a fantasy medical drama that will revolve around a grim reaper named Kkok Du. He lives in the underworld. Every 99 years, he gets to rest from his job and can enter the mortal world for 49 days. One day, he gets the chance to possess the human body of Do Jin Woo. While he lives as Do Jin Woo, he will get involved with Han Gye Jeol, a female doctor that has the ability to control him.

Kim Jung Hyun got the offer to play the role of Kkok Du. He is the only being that exists in the afterlife. He has a cold and cruel personality.

There are no details yet on the other casts of the upcoming MBC drama.

Early last year, Kim Jung Hyun became embroiled in different controversies. It started out with his dating rumors, contract expiration, and the 2018 incident was also brought up. Because of this, Kim Jung Hyun went on hiatus despite his new fame from the 2020 drama "Mr. Queen."

In September 2021, it was revealed that the actor has officially signed under a new agency. He was welcomed by Story J Company which also houses Kim Tae Hee, Seo In Guk, Kim Sung Chul, Oh Yeon Seo, and more.

In 2022, it was reported that Kim Jung Hyun will be starring in a new independent film titled "Se2cret." According to reports, the movie will begin filming soon.

If Kim Jung Hyun accepts the drama "Season of Kkok Du," 2022 will be his official return to the industry.
