"Chief Detective 1958" Climbs Back to Double-Digit Ratings
Actor Nam Joo Hyuk's upcoming drama Vigilante will make its debut at the Busan International Film Festival.
The production team behind the new Disney+ original series Vigilante set to release in October this year, revealed stills featuring Nam Joo Hyuk and others. They also announced that the series has been officially invited to the On Screen section of the 28th Busan International Film Festival.
The On Screen section is dedicated to OTT content, making it the first platform for Vigilante to meet its fans.
Vigilante tells the story of Kim Ji Yong, who leads a double life. By day, he is an exemplary police academy student upholding the law, but by night, he becomes a vigilante passing judgment on those who evade the legal system.
The series is adapted from the highly popular Naver webtoon by CRG and Kim Gyu Sam, which boasts over 370 million global views.
Choi Jeong Yeol (Start-Up) takes the director's chair, while writer Moon Yoo Seok, recognized for legal dramas like Miss Hammurabi and The Devil Judge, contributes as the screenwriter.
Actor Nam Joo Hyuk, known for his versatile acting in productions such as Who Are You: School 2015, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Start-Up, and Twenty-Five Twenty-One, promises a compelling transformation in his role as Kim Ji Yong, the series protagonist.
Actor Yoo Ji Tae, celebrated for his brilliant performances in works like Healer and Mad Dog, will exude a commanding charisma as the head of the investigation team Cho Heon, pursuing the vigilante.
Lee Joon Hyuk, who has consistently earned praise for his deep character portrayals in productions such as The Roundup: No Way Out and Stranger, will showcase an entirely new facet as Cho Kang Ok, the vigilante's accomplice.
Additionally, actress Kim So Jin, a respected actress known for her standout performances in works including Through the Darkness, Escape from Mogadishu, and Emergency Declaration, will heighten the tension as she takes on the role of Choi Mi Ryeo, a broadcast journalist who introduced the vigilante to the world for the first time.
