Personal Comments

I found really interesting that 4 (1st, 8th, 9th and 10th place) of the 10 actors within this ranking where together on Teiichi no Kuni movie, that may have helped them for being more on the spotlight. Though I have been paying close attention to Nomura, since I saw him in Suki na hito ga iru koto, and Chiba has been on my radar since Ouran High School Host Club, he was perfect as Honey-senpai!

From within this ranking, only one actor was a totally new face for me and that was Kudo Asuka, I haven’t seen anything from him so far and didn’t know anything about him.

I do agree with this ranking’s first place, Takeuchi Ryoma was splendid in Kahogo no Kahoko, I loved his character and his development, his relationship with Kahoko was so sweet at the end. I’m happy he acted in that drama since I first saw him on the movie Aozora Yell and was very displeased with his character there, though I fell in love with his smile. And I will definitely follow closely his career from now on and will check his dramas.

For Yamazaki’s 3rd place I think it was no surprise whatsoever since his been appearing lately on almost every manga movie adaptation, and is very popular as a leading man. I find him cute but I’ve yet to see a strong performance from him, so I’m definitely looking forward to watching Rikuo since it was mentioned on Oricon’s article as one of his strongest roles so far.

Kaku Kento is another actor which I do think had his breakthrough this year. I know him from N no tame ni (where I didn’t like his character that much, therefore was very pleased with the drama’s ending) and Asuko March! (Where his character was sweet but overall that drama was very forgettable for me) but this year I found him very interesting in Akira to Akira and Aishite tatte, Himitsu wa Aru (It took me about 3 minutes to recognize it was him! So I do think he did a good job playing his character)

Sakaguchi has been getting more attention lately and appearing in more dramas (I did watch 2 of the 3 he did this year) but for me his breakthrough year will be when he gets to starred as the main lead in a romance drama because he has been on several movies but no dramas so far T.T

I hope you enjoy reading this article, share your opinions about this ranking, do you agree or disagree with Oricon’s top 10?
